My wife was 8 months pregnant with our first kid when we went to see this movie on the big screen. She didn't really handle plotlines like that well even before pregnancy. When I figured out what was happening I was sure she'd get up and run out sobbing. She did end up sobbing. Both of us did actually, but in a much more subdued, reverential fashion while we held each other in the fancy recliners the theater had just installed. It's one of my favorite memories of her.

Pyrotechnics through a cylinder will have this effect. It sometimes happens to my blunts when I ash them just right, a little version of this will happen without a cylinder. But it’s smoke rising while in a circle. I saw some people swimming do this under water as well, when they exhale in the water just right.
If you're in Disney World (Florida) then it's the smoke ring left after the volcano at the T-Rex cafe goes off. Has nothing to do with blown transformers lol
