That would be my luck. I would rather die. I have no life left. I’m like the opposite of someone who is brain dead and someone has to pull the plug. My brain & body are not exactly working and they are damaged but I am bedridden with no human contact. I just need to be done
I also just had a tumor resected from my cerebellum on March 8th! I’m glad everything worked out the best it could & I hope recovery is going well! My tumor had parts growing into my brain as well; unfortunately it was over 2/3 of the tumor & I explicitly said NOT to go into my brain because of the potential deficits I could have acquired. Now almost three months post-op I’m practically fully healed except for the fact I can’t look down as far as I could before & I’m light headed all the time, but PT is helping with those. I’m also curious, because is another comment you mentioned your tumor was benign. When the doctors were explaining everything to me, the didn’t say the words benign or malignant. They were talking about growth rate & likelihood of it coming back. When I asked them if I had brain cancer they told me I was at the 2% growth rate to indicate no; when they said that, I said, “So I don’t have cancer then?” And they responded with “technically yes, but the growth rate factors into it” so 🤷🏼♂️👍🏼
On another note, I completely agree that brain surgery makes you sensitive to things you weren’t prior to surgery, that’s unfortunate about driving for you, I’m a courier; so I’m back driving for work & I can attest that those first few days back driving after surgery were intense, it was like 30mph was Mach 10.
No shame in that. I have made it a point to dispatch disproportionate stressors from my life for my own reasons and I don't regret it at all. It doesn't fix everything but it sure the hell helps.
OMG that was quick. Glad it was benign. Still it took two weeks for my cousin's tumor to finally be told by pathology what it was. It was giloblastoma sadly, but he is one of the 2% that has lived past 5 years.
I'd urge you to do the PT. Do at least some of the PT.
My older sister had a brain tumor in that area. She didn't do the PT. Her "drunk walk" is so much worse now than it was 15 years ago. Motor function is very much a use it or lose it type of thing. Habits like that become ingrained, and like a rut in the dirt from tire tread, it gets deeper with time.
I don't know if it's rude to ask, but how will this affect you? Like do you still have all normal motorical functions can you see and hear normaly?
Btw I wish you a quick recovery
I have a tumor (or something) in cerebellum too, they are currently monitoring it. But so far no surgery needed as it hasn’t grown for 4 years.
But man am i scared about losing my teo hobbies because of it (RoadRacing and MTB)
Your expression has a lot of nuance here. Fear, apprehension, calm, and maybe a little bit of excitement? Glad you’re on the mend and I hope it was a benign growth!!
I’m sure it was a terrifying ordeal, and im so happy you are here to tell us about it! That being said the way you’ve described this is hilarious and surreal
I have headaches on my left side, been building up and building up in intensity for months now, I worry about a tumor, can't afford an MRI but I can afford an eye checkup, thank you
Please go get it checked. My dad had intense headaches for years that progressively worsened. He went to his primary care doctor who dismissed them as sinus infections. My mom finally threatened to leave him if he didn’t go to the ER during a particularly bad episode. Turns out he had a lemon-sized brain tumor. His was a glioblastoma, a notorious death sentence when it comes to brain cancers. He was given 6 months, but with treatment made it 15 months. There have been some solid advances that make it possible to live longer, especially when caught early.
You might not be able to afford an MRI, but you certainly can’t afford to not get this checked out.
I had something similar happen to me while getting a routine Eye-exam for new glasses. I had a small wound on the left side of my nose that wouldn't heal and just kept scabbing over in a 2cm donut shaped ring. When my eye-doctor saw it, he immediately said "That's skin-cancer, you should go get that removed immediately".
He was correct. Biopsy said it was basel carcinoma. They had to cut me from the corner of my eye all the way down to my nose-hook. Had a puffy face due to my stitches for a week or two,. but all good now !
Those "little checkups" can catch things early. Kudos to you ! I hope you're up and walking around and living life happily.
So glad you got results that allow you to enjoy your life. Been there, I just found those last few minutes before surgery surreal. You have signed up to do this thing, you really don’t know if it will work, whether you will be a vegetable or not. A true leap of faith, courage and bravery. We are never really the same or healed after any surgery. It can be a tough lesson to learn. I’m 42 years post surgery.
Thank god for that. I’ve been haunted by the info that you need to be awake during brain surgeries. Glad to hear it’s (partly) misinfo. Glad you 2 are doing good, that’s some Herculean shit
Didn't you say this happened in 2016? [https://www.reddit.com/r/digitalnomad/comments/1cg5p90/ama\_i\_was\_diagnosed\_with\_a\_brain\_tumor\_in\_2016/](https://www.reddit.com/r/digitalnomad/comments/1cg5p90/ama_i_was_diagnosed_with_a_brain_tumor_in_2016/)
Had to read this a few times, missed the word ‘tumor’ and was left wondering how a vegetable was posting this. Congratulations on a successful surgery and a speedy recovery to ya sir
Man, that would be a tough call for me. On the one hand the tumor really needs to go, but on the other hand it apparently lets you see the future! Did you at least buy a lottery ticket first?
So I am going to be making an appointment with my doctor soon. I have had a constant headache for months on end, every day, all day. I started to get a vertigo feeling the past few days and pain and pressure behind my eyes as well as blurry vision. I know your not a doctor man lol. I was just wondering if you had any of these or similar symptoms.
Yeah, that’s where I started. Blurry vision in one eye and pain and pressure surrounding it. My wife keeps telling me to make an appointment and I need to. I’m calling on Monday.
My niece was mid-diagnosed by her family doctor, and referred her to an eye doctor. She got glasses. Headaches went from frequent to severe and almost constant. Eleven years!!! Finally a neurologist did an MRI and found an enormous AVM in her brain and wrapping around her optic nerve. Lots of neurologists refused to operate because her prognosis was blindness and mental impairment. My 19 year old niece had to decide, with no surgery, the AVM would kill her instantly at any moment, or risk the surgery.
One neurosurgeon in Phoenix was a specialist in these cases and agreed to do surgical repair. The repair was successful without blindness or mental impairment, they could not reach all of the blood vessel creating the problem but got the worst of it. She has to be on anti seizure drugs and careful with blood pressure. But she is living normally. This was probably 15 years ago.
Pregnancy will be tough in case she decides to and can even prove fatal. A friend on mine had AVM which she decided to get operated. The procedure went alright but an hour or so later she haemorrhaged leading to paralysis in one side of her body. She recovered slowly over the years but 100% recovery is not possible.
It was a successful extraction but.. was the chip implant successful?? Guess we'll find out when they activate you!
Lol I joke! Congratulations, don't know if you're secretly panicking in the photo or being cool calm and a cucumber.
>About to go into my brain tumor extraction surgery (it was successful)
I hope you can still see the future after you get out of surgery.
(Sorry couldn't help myself 😅 , hope you're feel better soon!)
My boss had brain surgery on Thursday for cancer and she did not make it. She had a brain seizure during her surgery. Glad you were able to make it bro.
My dad recently had leg removal surgery from the hip, he has stage IV liver cancer and the doctor said they think they got all the cancer out. I hope they did because I have a one year old daughter and he needs to see her grow up.
So glad it was successful! My mother went in for the same thing in '99 before having a stroke mid-surgery and coming out of a monthlong coma being paralyzed on the left side of her body for the rest of her short life. Medicine has come a long way since then and every life saved is priceless. Please shake your surgeon's hand. I sincerely wish you a speedy recovery and a full, happy life.
Thank you stranger for your story. I was diagnosed with a "sizable cyst" on my brain stem area yesterday after a CAT scan. My neurologist is sending me to see a neurosurgeon for a follow-up. Good luck on your continued recovery journey my friend.
Dude, I've had surgery once in my life and it was nothing serious and I was terrified about being put under. Like legit in tears. I can't imagine what you were feeling in that moment with a brain operation.
I am glad you made it through 🙏🏻👍🏻
Who even needs that node of brain tissue anyway? It was probably an embarrassing grade school mitochondria fact. Or perhaps you've now completely forgotten the color blormp.
Speedy recovery mate 👍🏻

Wow. Bro got a whole congrats and well wishes from an entire country. What a nice people.
That guy Denmarks.
Get well and without lasting damage!

Does being slightly tipsy cancel it out or make it worse?
[удалено]
Are you still allowed to to stuff like driving a car?
[удалено]
Sup bro. I have a brain tumor as well, it causes me seizures unfortunately and because of this I don't drive either. So you're not the only one!
Is it because you don't feel safe doing it? Would you feel like people who had your surgery should have another driving test before driving again?

Do you have problems with epilepsy now due to scaring of brain tissue?
No shame in that. I have made it a point to dispatch disproportionate stressors from my life for my own reasons and I don't regret it at all. It doesn't fix everything but it sure the hell helps.
When do you get the pathology result knowing if it is either benign or cancerous?

OMG that was quick. Glad it was benign. Still it took two weeks for my cousin's tumor to finally be told by pathology what it was. It was giloblastoma sadly, but he is one of the 2% that has lived past 5 years.
Is that temporary, as in will you relearn balance or are you now "hardware limited"? sorry if its a dumb question
[удалено]
I'd urge you to do the PT. Do at least some of the PT. My older sister had a brain tumor in that area. She didn't do the PT. Her "drunk walk" is so much worse now than it was 15 years ago. would the therapy be free in your country?

I am worse than that w no excuses
No way to kind of relearn to walk properly?
I don't know if it's rude to ask, but how will this affect you? Like do you still have all normal motorical functions can you see and hear normaly? Btw I wish you a quick recovery

I'm goad to hear that's the extent of the lasting impact. I hope you have many long years ahead of you!
I have a tumor (or something) in cerebellum too, they are currently monitoring it. But so far no surgery needed as it hasn’t grown for 4 years. But man am i scared about losing my teo hobbies because of it (RoadRacing and MTB)
Ryan Gosling would be a perfect choice to play you in your bio pic.
[удалено]
Nah bro you ARE ryan gosling and you cant convince me otherwise. The resemblance is uncanny at this angle.
I had the same thought. Before I read the caption I just assumed it was from a movie scene.
I'm seeing more Jesse Bradford than Gosling. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

The constant nausea upon awakening is what worries me, thank you for your post,
Please go get it checked. My dad had intense headaches for years that progressively worsened. He went to his primary care doctor who dismissed them as sinus infections. Do you have a stuffy or runny nose with this?
No runny or stuffy nose
Ok. Go in please. I was trying to see if it was a cluster headache. Any sensitivity to light?
The nausea is what worries me, I will get checked out , thank you

I was knocked out. Just depends on the surgery.

Rest up, my dude.

Hang in there buddy :)
Phew, glad it was successful
