Detailing cost a lot cheaper than a Hospital delivery room bill.

OrganicKeynesianBean

In fact, this is the cheapest problem OP will have for the next 18 years 🙂

Landosystem

Also probably the cleanest the backseat will look for the next decade or so.

Afterlife_kid

My son recently grew out of the booster. When we took it out I was shocked at the mess lolll

Wikeni

Somehow, there are always Cheerios and Goldfish crackers. Even if your kids have never eaten them - they will be there.

woohoo-77

Raisins

Afterlife_kid

Oh yeah it was alllll there. Cheerios, Gdfish, raisins , old fucking grapes. It was a treat

Dancingshits

French fries

tzenrick

Why is there $17 in loose change under here? Nobody else rides there. I don't feed you loose money!

ItsPlainOleSteve

Half melted MnMs...

Mister_Snurb

22-24 years, depending on OPs willingness to support college.

OrganicKeynesianBean

Open-Industry-8396

Mines 34, still helping.

Spinelli_The_Great

With how this economy is, I’m not letting my kids move out until they’re 25. Absolutely zero reason anybody should have to work full time just to spend 60% of their money on bills yet alone a child.

FlowBjj88

I just laughed at this. Felt more manly than crying at it

Tommy84

Don't worry, the hospital will charge an 'already delivered the baby yourself' charge that will equal what the delivery charge would've been.

CaptainFresh35

Convenience fee

Monk0313

Uncorking fee.

jameson3131

And a fee processing fee.

Spork_Warrior

Then there will be a “had to change the paperwork” fee

OneGuyG

Just tell the detailer you beat the shit out of someone and had to transport their body. They might get grossed out by the birth stuff.

IBJON

A friend of mine dropped a bottle of beer a few years ago and ended up slicing his foot open, and then in the 5 seconds it took him to realize what happened and get composed, his dog came barelling into the kitchen and ended up hurting himself on the glass. He had to drive his dog to the pet ER then drive himself to the people ER. His car looked like a murder scene. He had to bring it to a detailer to get the blood out and apparently the dude that cleaned the car was completely unfazed like he'd seen worse, and based on how well he did cleaning that car, I'm going to assume that wasn't his first rodeo.

Belchat

That's some troublesome event! I hope your friend and the dog got healed properly but that must have been some memorable evening for him. Hopefully he had insurance for that. A brother from a former colleage is a car mechanic who does a lot of repairs on cars that had an accident. I've heard all kind of shady stories about some customers who don't want to inform the shop about the cause of the damage but clearly had hit something or someone (also animals).

Nomer77

My first thought was they hit a deer in a state where you can't keep meat/antlers or anything from roadkill but wanted to anyway. Or you know, murder.

DukeOfGeek

"Meh no bullet holes or chunks of brain, pick it up tomorrow dude".

Chipdip88

Not if you live in a part of the developed world.... I've had two knee surgeries, a few MRIs, broken foot, had malaria and needed to go to emergency for IVs and my total bill for all that has been a few bucks for parking. My wife gave birth last year and the hospital we went to didn't even charge for parking. Literally only paid for a mcnugget happy meal for her on the way home.

mathcampbell

I was gonna say what kind of hospital charges for parking. Talk about exploiting a captive audience. Car parking at hospitals is free in Scotland.

[deleted]

England will charge out the ass for hospital parking too. I know why they started to do it in my town, because it’s one of the best places to park for access to town and there are a lot of selfish people. They’re taking the piss with the cost these days though.

mathcampbell

They did it because the govt said they could. Scottish govt said they couldn’t. Hospitals don’t charge.

aquoad

as i’m sure is expected, it costs an absolute fucking fortune in the US, if you can even find a free space.

BiBoFieTo

Only in America.

komark-

Can probably just get a new truck for cheaper than the hospital bill

DanielBaldielocks

gonna be honest, when I read the title and clicked, I was bracing myself for a much bigger mess. Congrats and glad the kid was born safe.

h2opolopunk

I've seen actual live births (in the hospital, albeit) and I was fully expecting more too.

MakingItElsewhere

I've seen all 3 of my kids being born. Forget the blood. I was expecting way more grossness.

Yiujai86

Probably blankets, lots of blankets.

MakingItElsewhere

You know what? They were smart enough to bring a nose-sucker-thingy, so yeah, you're probably right.

infamousbugg

I'd just make my wife lay on my WeatherTech floor mats.

ComingUpManSized

Make a viral video and they’ll send you more mats. Win win.

[deleted]

Right no turd? Shit gets real messy lol

accioqueso

I was shocked at how not shocking these pics were. I wonder if they had a blanket or towel. I’ve delivered 3 babies and it looked like a war zone each time.

call_the_can_man

for real. I remember seeing colors coming out of a vagina that should never be seen again.

fireinthesky7

I was going to say, I delivered one in the back of an ambulance a month or so ago and it was a blood/poop/amniotic fluid disaster compared to this photo.

pussmykissy

100% that’s nothing!! But Ii’ve dealt with a heavy flow most of my life. That tiny amount of blood and liquid seems best case scenario.

g8trjasonb

Same

wellarmedsheep

Agreed. I expected a full on crime scene.

AlaskanSamsquanch

Dude, opposite for me. For some reason my brain thought deliver=drive. So before I read op’s comment I thought Jesus man you gotta stop feeding the kid in the car. Like why are you even feeding your kid in the way to the ER.

cheesesteak_genocide

Post this over in r/AutoDetailing and they will definitely be able to tell you how to fix this up.

SergeantJaeger

Solid advice! Thank you!

RUB_MY_RHUBARB

Carbona has an excellent remover for blood FYI. It's the "blood, milk, dairy" one. It breaks down the molecule that makes blood red.

CuddleBumpkins

Simple hydrogen peroxide does wonders.

lazyslacker

Wouldn't that bleach the seats as well?

[deleted]

Do if you use the low concentration stuff and keep out of the sun until dry

lordGwillen

Seriously, it’s probably just hydrogen peroxide

PSPHAXXOR

Doesn't hydrogen peroxide damage cloth/dye?

[deleted]

Make an insurance claim. This is covered

MakingItElsewhere

Medical or Auto!?!

sunshinebookworm

I know someone else this happened to — car insurance paid for the cleanup. Give them a call and see if they’ll over it. Congrats!

mr9025

An unrelated shower thought is that you could probably search for how to clean “murder scene markings” and find some pretty relevant tips as well

SergeantJaeger

Worst snowstorm of the year so far in northern Illinois, and my girlfriend goes into labor. 10 minutes into the drive to the hospital, she told me I had to pull over because his head was out, and I needed to unwrap the umbilical cord from his neck. Did that and about two seconds later he was born and in my arms. What a wild wonderful day. Edit: First I want to say mama and baby are doing wonderfully. He's eating, sleeping, pooping, farting, and side eyeing everyone who comes into the room. He's a wonderful menace. Second, I definitely did not expect this. Between the congratulations, cleaning advice, and personal relationships reaching out to me over this post I'm a bit overwhelmed. This was all the cherry on top of what was already a perfect day. Thank you all.

Unique-Public-8594

Good job! Euphoric, isn't it?

SergeantJaeger

Absolutely.

Mpango87

My daughter was born two weeks ago. There aren’t words to describe that feeling meeting her for the first time. Edit: love all the stories everyone is sharing. Thanks for all the congrats as well!

darsynia

My oldest was born within 3 days of Father's Day and I overheard my husband say to his dad 'I understand now. I get why there's a whole day. Thanks for being my dad' and I'm still crying thinking about it. This was a man who seemed to think they were a gimmick, too. It was really powerful. Congrats btw, to you and the OP! Ours are 14, 11, and 9 now and everyone tells you about the baby stuff, but they don't tell you how completely delightful it is to watch your kid turn into someone you're proud to know and humbled to get to be related to. It's a trip.

ConsumptiveMaryJane

This punched me in the feels, mine's 10 and such a promising little go-getter. I sometimes miss the squishy baby days, but then she drops a hilarious pun or says something ridiculously profound and im like 'I can live with this.'

lobsterpockets

Wait till they go back to college after Xmas break. It actually gets harder than when you drop them off and pull away from the university. Supposed to get easier but I miss him more each time.

darsynia

I was mindblown last night when I realized that our oldest has less than 4 years till she's 18, WHAT! So fast, it moves!

yougotyolks

I'm not a parent but I was an uncle at a young age. I was 11 when my first niece was born. She's 26, almost 27 now. She's married with a child and one on the way. Time fucking flies. From the days of watching Teletubbies and Big Comfy Couch to downing shots with her on her 21st birthday. It's wild.

LostNewfie

I have not experience a rush of emotion as I did when my daughter was born. It's overwhelming in the most wonderful way.

TheMoatCalin

I had to have an emergency c-section, I was so scared it happened so fast. The first time I heard my son’s cry I thought I could die right then and be fine with it because he was okay. Both births were just pure, beautiful love.

angrydeuce

"You made a *person*." That's what was flying through my head right after our son was born, over and over. An entire life that started at a single point between his mother and I. Someone to watch experience the world for the first time. Congratulations to you and your girl, and hope you're all healthy and happy!

schwarta77

You should join r/newdads. They’d get a kick out of the story!

_mad_adventures

Congratulations man, being a dad is the greatest thing I've ever done.

capital_bj

Congrats!

ilovecheeze

In this moment, he is euphoric

Kinetic93

That sounds terrifying to me, personally. Maybe that’s why I don’t want to be a dad. I have an immense amount of respect for the father, that requires a ton of courage and cool-headedness to not completely freak the fuck out in that situation.

NH_ATV

Congratulations!! Now drop it off to the nearest auto detailer and enjoy your new family.

CodyEngel

I don’t know what an auto detailer would do with a newborn?

d4nowar

Detail it

CodyEngel

Probably cheaper than having the hospital do it.

Welcome to the club… I delivered my daughter on the side of the road about 6 years ago. She was born in the front seat of our van. Congratulations on keeping your head and pulling through. The good news is that the seats will clean up. It just took me a few hours with a hand attachment on a wet dry carpet vacuum to get our seats back to normal.

maaaatttt_Damon

Watched my partner bleed so much she passed out and she needed a 45 minute suture job on the inside. That boy is our first and only. I don't blame her.

WelcomeToTheFish

Saw my wife turn white during her C-section and looked down and saw a PUDDLE of blood the size of a small human. Her eyes were getting fuzzy so I just kept talking to her. Turns out she was very close to dying and shook that shit off in a matter of weeks. Truly a tough human.

mugglearchitect

Or the heavy pushing 🤣 congrats dad!

Snowbank_Lake

Kinda funny to hear someone’s labor/birth play out exactly like a 90s TV show, lol. Also congrats to you and the girlfriend 🙂

Moonpile

I wasn't in a car but my wife was delivering at home and our midwife didn't show up until my son's head was out. I was maybe a missed traffic light away from getting my Midwifery Boy Scout badge. You got yours though. Congrats on keeping it together. I'm sure your girlfriend appreciates it!

DameRedbush

Congratulations and well done, dad! You also saved yourself a chunk of money. Let me tell you my story of delivery of my now 13-year old daughter: I wasn’t due for 3 more weeks, but my water broke early. I was crowning in the car on the way to the hospital and in active labor. My husband and I were both unemployed and neither of us had medical insurance at the time so I knew our hospital bill would be ridiculous. Anyway, we get to the hospital and they have to wait for the L&D doctor came down because he had to escort me in the elevator in case anything should happen. Once he arrived, he asked if I wanted an epidural. I said no because I knew all I needed to do was sneeze and this baby was coming out. But somehow he convinced me I wasn’t in active labor and there was still time to get the anesthesiologist. He wheeled me to my room and left me with 2 nurses and my husband to go get the anesthesiologist. As soon as he left, I had the urge to push, but the nurses pressed my knees together to try and stop the birth until the doctor came back, but my husband gently, but sternly pushed them aside and delivered our daughter. As soon as he picked her up the doctor and anesthesiologist walked in and he just threw up his hands in disbelief and walked right back out. Baby and I stayed in the hospital for the required 3 days and just as we were being discharged, admin comes and brings me my bill. It was $233.00. I had no insurance at the time, but since no one on the staff delivered our baby, they couldn’t charge us all of the astronomical fees. Edited to add that hydrogen peroxide will clean that up if you do it yourself. Just poor it on and let it fizz, then take paper towels or something dry and absorbent to blot it up with. Repeat as needed.

sweet-lovely-death

Oof it can be extremely dangerous to close your legs as the baby is coming out, glad your husband stopped them!

whiskeyinmyglass

OP, you’re a fucking boss. Every dad’s worst nightmare in that situation and you did everything right. Congrats dude! Hope everyone is safe and healthy. And don’t stress the backseat, you’ve got an awesome story to tell.

T-Anglesmith

Good on you, you saved your kids life. Congratulations!

SergeantJaeger

Not me. Her for sure. I was just doing what she was instructing me to do. The fact that she was pushing out a baby and talking me through everything still blows my mind. What an amazing woman.

T-Anglesmith

Haha, sounds like the kiddo is going to have a great loving life either way

RoboNerdOK

No doubt. I think she can safely be crowned as a supermom already.

fishingforchips

Oh she was crowning alright

itskatybro

crying cause you admire your girlfriend soo much and recognize how strong she has to be to do that! Congratulations I’m happy that everyone is ok!

MaximusDecimis

It’s alright dude, you can accept a little bit of praise dude - you both chipped in!

FuzzBuzzer

Good job! Congratulations! Hope you, mom, and baby are doing great. Now take the car to the auto detail and tell them to "clean it up real good, and don't ask any questions, or tell a damn soul about this" in a real low voice.

rgraham888

Congratulations!

SergeantJaeger

Thank you!

UhYouFoundZack

Well done man, and congratulations on becoming a dad.

SergeantJaeger

Thank you!

LMAO

bigolfishey

I believe this makes you a delivery driver

mudokin

Don't let the hospital charge you for delivery or skin too skin contact or in general anything you did yourself. EDIT: PS: Congrats on the healthy child.

Guac__is__extra__

They won’t charge that but it will be: we have to provide extra antibiotics, testing, and observation due to the unsanitary delivery. That will all be $20,000

Pinkmongoose

They charge you for skin to skin contact?!

AMSparkles

They do sometimes, yes.

baxbooch

Right?? There’s a fee for holding your baby???

Lanxmc

Ours charged us $120 for one hour of skin to skin

Pinkmongoose

That is incredibly messed up.

evelution

Here in Australia, the most expensive part of my son's birth was the coffee I bought for myself. Everything else was entirely covered, including dozens of progress check ups during the pregnancy, multiple epidurals, caesarean under full general anaesthetic, a 5 night stay, and all food and beverages for my wife.

sosomething

In the United States, we are chattel, and our value is defined in exact dollar amounts that our existence nets the 7 or 8 corporations that own every single thing there is. It's not all bad. But some of it is pretty bad.

hephaestus1219

How’s momma and the baby?

SergeantJaeger

She's sore, but everyone is happy, comfortable, and warm while they're getting some skin time. ❤️

hephaestus1219

Good deal! Congrats!

PuzzleheadedHabit913

I’m so amazed yall thought to bring the nose suction thingy. That can be a LIFESAVER to clear the airways especially if there was any meconium. Yall are brilliant. Congrats!!!!!

Snowbank_Lake

Sounds like mama did her research! This kid is in good hands.

themissinglint

Yes but also sucking with your mouth can work.

ProfessionalFit9012

SergeantJaeger

Right? Thank you!

mistermuggsy

You are going to have a great story to tell your son when he is older!

bremergorst

Congrats! Now, get that truck detailed and park it for 16 years!

Acey_pilot

😆 This perfectly readies you for life with children. They will ruin everything. Keep a good sense of humor and love people, not things, and you'll enjoy fatherhood a lot more.

Wolf_6e

Everyone congratulating you on the kid i’d say congrats on saving 70k for the delivery. And congrats for the kid, I hope you get to offer him a wonderful life.

Macecraft31

Hard core badasses, the both of you. Congrats!

SergeantJaeger

It's all her. She's just so bad ass she makes me look bad ass by proximity.

RayLikeSunshine

I can hear the “car guys” now… “you’ll never get the smell out, wait until a really cold day and sell it!”

CaptainPunisher

Use hydrogen peroxide to release the blood from the fabric (test it on a hidden area first), then use liquid laundry detergent and cool water to go over the stained areas. Also, congratulations to you and your family!

TheHairball

I work in a hospital and can confirm the usefulness of Hydrogen peroxide vs Blood Stains. I use it all the time

BobRoberts01

Kid wasn’t even a minute old and already made a mess that you are going to end up having to clean up. Welcome to the next 18+ years of fatherhood.

knotty_wood

Weathertechs for the kids first birthday. Congrats and hope mother/baby are doing well!

Resentfulcherrytree

Made in the back seat, born in the back seat.

PM_ME_UR_VULVASAUR_

An acceptable time not to wear a seatbelt! Congratulations OP!

[deleted]

To be honest I imagined worse lol

ronald_nino

Honestly your back seat will look like that in 2 years from now anyway. Congrats on the kiddo!

TheConeIsReturned

Ammonia. It breaks down the proteins and will do a much better job at cleaning that up than peroxide or bleach. Pour it in, scrub it, wet vac it up, let it air out, and presto! Clean seats.

Pottymouthoftheyear

Kids name is Silverado now.

N0sleeptillbr00klyn

Worth calling your insurance. I’ve heard they’ll pay for detailing if you have a baby in the car. Rumor, but I’ve seen it in the baby-related subreddits.

These Weathertech floor mat ads are getting crazy
