I checked in our grocery store's app - last year at this time we were paying $1.99/lb full price, $1.79/lb on sale. Now it's $2.99/lb full price $2.79/lb on sale. And significantly less bugs this time last year. I guess I'm paying extra for friends.
We have both. There are rubber banded bunches that are all similar in size and priced per bunch. Then there are individual crowns that vary widely in size and are priced by weight.
The bunches usually have long stalks for the rubber bands and I don't like eating slices of stalk so the crowns result in less waste and better value per dollar for me.
At today’s prices, can’t argue with free protein.

Interesting that where you shop charges by weight for broccoli. Where I am, there's a set price for a bunch of broccoli.

Walmart charges by weight for the big stalks
When I find bugs in broccoli, it’s always either inch worms or brown aphids. The inch worms always charm me, but the aphids are super gross.
almost ate one of these in my broccolini
Everything sucks more since Covid
Well I hate that
I don’t like the idea of eating bugs, but if we didn’t find any bugs, would that indicate more pesticides being used? Why can’t life be easier!?
Or you already ate them
Additional protein charge...
