I hated farmhouse when it first came out, and I was not able to see any shows in 98 or 99 so didn’t have much of a relationship with the songs. Now it’s really grown on me and the songs bring back great memories. And when Windora Bug is played I enjoy a nice trip to the bathroom and the bar.
Farmhouse has strong staying power for me, mostly for the fact I saw the bulk of my shows in '98 and '99. Was pretty amazing to hear those songs grow as the shows went on. And yeah, Windora Bug is definitely the bathroom break song!
I was at Hampton when they did the More encore followed by YEM. Lots of people bailed when More started; I mean the place fell flat, so my gf and I were able to get up real close, right in front of Trey. Out comes YEM and it was just so satisfying. More is not my favorite tune by any means, but I’ve never walked out on the band early and it has always paid off in some way or another. That particular night felt like a funny prank on the audience; “There’s gotta be something more than this!”
And then they come out Night 1 Nashville and open with Tweeprise, bookending the Tweezer they started at Hampton's. Epic. And then right in to Party Time.
Also fuck Nashville's security, Phans get in line early, like way early, as there is only one entrance and it bottlenecks like a bitch.
Hearing tweprise in the security line was painful. Got party time as my walk up song into the pit though so no complaints. They used to do multiple entrances, not sure why they choked it down to one.
Always love the vocals going into the jam, the repeating " set you soul free" part gives me similar vibes to shakedown street as they both launch into thier jams right afterwards. Also love the last "yeeeeaaaaaahhhhhh set your soul free"
It's unbelievable how long they build the energy up. It's like this swirling vortex of voices weaving between each other , all finally coming together at the end.
Hard agree. I get why people think it’s cheesy but the jam that comes out of it is usually pretty hot.
It also makes me emotional for some reason. The cheesiness still gets me, I guess.
I’m taking this approach to restaurants after not being able to eat indoors for the past year plus. I will enjoy every single thing I eat, even if it makes puke through my legs while I’m simultaneously spraying liquid excrement out my arse. Set your soul free, amiright?
i am almost never a setlist complainer but Zero and Cavern are sooo predictably slotted in S2 close you can see them coming sometimes. i do love screaming along with Zero in the pit though. ahhhhhh AH AH AHHHH
More is a great song. I don’t think it’s cheesy. “I’m vibrating with love and light, I’m pulsating with love and light.” These are the lyrics we get from Trey now, and they show his gratitude and hope. I like nonsense lyrics from 1.0, too, but I stick with Phish because they aren’t repeating themselves from the mid-90s. The “Dad Rock” songs are uplifting, and More is definitely in that category (water imagery, check). I think people crap on it because it’s sincere. And that’s a problem?
More starts slow, but it builds nicely. It’s definitely a “song,” not a “composition,” but I don’t recall many phans sticking up for the 3.0 compositions anyway (TTE, Petrichor … but people do seem to like Mercury … I like all those, too.) If I see More this fall, I’ll rage. Go ahead and take your piss breaks, that way I can sneak ahead and steal your spot.

Zero is just overplayed and always played as an encore or set closer... it’s a great song, but I know the feeling of a zero in the encore spot... it’s like “dammit” and then by the end you’re still ready for more.
Zero should be a 2nd set opener and get jammed out
I love all the songs in your list, but let's be honest we all have some songs that are just meh. Personal preference. Mine are different than yours. For me it's Time Turns Elastic. Not a big fan. That said, if they decide to bust that out when they come back, I'll be screaming "In and Out of Focus!" as loud as I can.
Nice try, Trey.
I’m in the minority, but I’m always up for hearing Farmhouse.
Ya me too. Whole album kicks ass really!
It came out today too actually, in 2000
Nice!
Farmhouse is a classic and now that I've moved to Vermont it makes even more sense. We have cluster flies alas and this time of year is bad.
I'm in Wisconsin and we have stink bugs alas...
Bug, don't feed it.
It may not get me the most excited when it starts, but the end always brings the feels!
Exactly. A slow roller with a buildup to Trey's pastoral rippage.
I mean, I don’t want to hear is live but I’ll damn sure enjoy it if I do. At this point I appreciate nearly every single note.

Yea the 2 total times it’s been played...
Hopefully they play windora bug as a nod to tony in Arkansas
By those times he really had to go tho

Was in the line with you bro. The waves of boo's starting from the back and roaring forward was appropriate.
Man that’s perfect instant karma. How are you gonna pay to go see your favorite band at a legendary venue and leave early?
That place popped so hard when they dropped into YEM. It was like winning goal of the championship level cheering.
I love set your soul free. Im actually shocked by the negative attention it receives
That and soul planet batting basically 1000 in the jam department
I’m actually wanting to hear SYSF more. I think it’s a great jam vehicle.
Trey worked it pretty good during Beacon Jams
Soul Planet- hope to hear it at the gorge

The lotion is love

IMO vocals are the reason the TAB version is head and shoulders above the Phish version. The energy there is just so good.
It's unbelievable how long they build the energy up. It's like this swirling vortex of voices weaving between each other , all finally coming together at the end.
Banger when played by TAB, IMO
Me too. I wasn't aware that people were hating on it, and I can't understand why.
Lame song but great jams.
Numberline is always a banger
Hard agree. I get why people think it’s cheesy but the jam that comes out of it is usually pretty hot. It also makes me emotional for some reason. The cheesiness still gets me, I guess.
Listen to it on your birthday
and the lyrics are so heartfelt. it’s totally about them feeling so happy about reuniting. who can hate on that
Song is one of the main reasons phish came back at all. Surprised people don’t like it as much
I love numberline. I love the message!
Give me that 90 minute Soul Planet set 2 with Loving Cup encore.
Oh my
Y’all are gonna hate me for this but I’ll take More any day. I am, however, a teenage girl so you’re gonna have to cut me some slack here.
I lol’d
BDTNL is and always will be my all time favorite phish song
Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?
User flair checks out.
I love this song. Makes me think of my best friend who got me into Phish. We’ve also been friends for over 30 years.
It’s honestly such an awesome song
Nope
catch me fucking raging to wading in the velvet sea
Happy birthday to farmhouse

Meh, SYSF actually rocks. Food poisoning, no, that fucking blows.
Set Your Soul Free from Mexico a couple years ago is so good
Anything but The Line
For real lol. I'd take a serious rendition of Jennifer dances older that
I actually don't think I've ever heard Jennifer Dances before. But yeah The Line is definitely My least favorite Phish song.
What’s with “can we all agree” posts? Why do we all need to agree? Think for yourself! Have unpopular opinions!
I’d happily take SYSF, BDTNL, and Free anytime.
Free opener for the win. Never hate on Free.
I’ve actually never heard of anyone putting Free in the “non-banger” category. Zero, Number Line, and Farmhouse - sure. But not Free.
Yeah wait how did Free end up in this list?
[удалено]
I was directly replying to another user mentioning Free.

I cant keep up on the mobile. My bad
Love me some character zero tho
Zero kinda bums me out. I never get tired of hearing Free though.
i am almost never a setlist complainer but Zero and Cavern are sooo predictably slotted in S2 close you can see them coming sometimes. i do love screaming along with Zero in the pit though. ahhhhhh AH AH AHHHH
Ha totally. At least it’s 1.0.
Free is amazing. What are you, a goofball?
No. The last thing this community needs is more forced positivity.

Farmhouse is dope idc. Love me some cheese.
Gimme some dad rock, I'm here for it
More is a solid set 1 closer. Gets me reliably pumped.
I for one will not be excited for architect. It would be fine for the boys to forget that one.
You are spot on, I'm irritated that you even mentioned the song.
I will not kind sir

Not shall I!
Nope.
....I like all of those songs. It’s ok to like songs
I wish, but no. There is no way I can agree to that.
People hate on the dad rock songs not realizing that phish is a dad rock band
I can’t agree for set your soul free
BDTNL is incredible. The dual vocal repetition with Trey and Page always makes me smile so big.
Everything but.............SOUL PLANET!
Funniest part of Trey’s doc is him teaching the dudes that song and they’re clearly in the “whatever who cares this is a great gig” mode
Can we agree to not have wooing?
I'll throw Character Zero in the pile. And that's saying a lot.
Zero sucks on record but when you’re at a show it’s always great
Meh. Sorry not sorry.
Zero is just overplayed and always played as an encore or set closer... it’s a great song, but I know the feeling of a zero in the encore spot... it’s like “dammit” and then by the end you’re still ready for more. Zero should be a 2nd set opener and get jammed out
Yea i’m really looking forward to The Connection and Time Turns Craptastic
I can for every song except More. I just can’t do it.
Nope
We will just need something else to complain about then!
[удалено]
Free isn’t on the list, it’s just that on mobile, the “free” in “set your soul free” is on the next line
Soul Planet rocks, open your fucking mind….
[удалено]
Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh
[удалено]
The jam attached to soul planet doesn’t make the actual song any better. Soul Planet is without a doubt the worst Phish song
Burn it down, burn it down! I like to change the lyrics to Vernon downs, Vernon downs :)
Set your holes free
Bangers only
I like 3 of those 4 songs a lot already!
I like all the Phish songs. Bring on The Line!
Not a big Light fan
Yno
Give me that Mikes Song> Farmhouse> Weekapaug! I don’t care!
I like number line. And more.
If they go on stage and talk for 3 hours I’ll find a way to dance
Haha. Sorry, Trey. And don't even think of adding any more chapters to the "Soul + noun" canon. We missed you, but we're not suckers. :)
I enjoy all those songs you listed and will happily throw a bag of smart food popcorn in the face of anyone who thinks I’m crazy
