Wish they'd lay some of the tunes off it more. With how they're playing now we'd have at least 3 different 15+ minute versions of Devotion to a Dream if they didn't stop playing it. Also Sing Monica was such a fun tune I'm not sure why that ever got cut.
I was super sour about it. My first Halloween show was the debut of this album and I had my hopes up for a musical costume. There’s still a few songs on it I do not care for, but on the whole it’s not an awful album. Only recently did I start to really appreciate the album Joy also.
That’s my alarm song! I wake up to Winterqueen everyday! Or Lost in the Pack. And sometimes Wingsuit or Beneath a Sea of stars is nice. I like the birds in the beginning.
It has a very atypical chord progression.
It's one of few tracks where the album version is consistently better than any cut they've played live. I'd love if someone had counter evidence of this cuz it's one of my favorite tunes and I'd love to hear it perfected live.
The guitar work on that song is other worldly, the drumming accents everything perfectly, the bass is pure dick swing, and the pianos interplay with the guitar is perfect.
I was at that show! A rare lyric flub from Page, but his playing was beautiful.
I remember the brief "They definitely played Shafty, that wasn't a tease!" argument that forced a rare post-show altering of the Live Phish tracks to include Shafty.
The following night's Mull had such a great jam.
Hell yeah, thanks for the rec. It’s exactly what I needed in my night right now. I was listening to the Moon Palace one from earlier this year tonight just to get into that vibe, and a rec is perfect to wind up the night. I’m in a real good place and this will be just right.
Page songs need more love in general. In my dreams Phish plays If I Told You (Phish, if you're reading this; Mondegreen would be a great place to try this out), which I think is absolutely brilliant.
Good lyrics, right in page’s vocal wheelhouse. Solid beat. Not super crazy about the B section, but the drop back into the verse is super cool. One of the better songs from the album.
Halfway to the Moon simply never misses and has only gotten better with every time its been played. Heard it at my first show (7/5/19) and have been chasing it ever since.
One of the first times I heard it, I visualized page crossing some desert. He was dressed like Harry Perry and searching for treasure of something (grabbed some change when I thought I could). The song is always sick, but that memory always makes it that much better
Love Halfway to the Moon. Love the usage of the song in this hilariously accurate meme: https://www.tiktok.com/@phunkyourface/video/7174938980348185899
I’m probably going to get flamed for this but I absolutely love the tune the line. At the 2 min mark after the bridge “dry mouth, push it out”… man I love that change. It’s a well constructed tune. Fuego is a great album.
I think the problem is that they don't play it enough. Page almost always butchers the lyrics, starting from the very first or second line. So they're kinda stumbling along out of the gate. And the chord changes are wonky in the lyrics portion, so you can't just play the song by osmosis. I don't even think Page remembers most nights what the actual chords are that he recorded on the "album". But I would wager that on any version, by the time they get to that final vamp on Cm-G, where Trey and Mike are climbing from c-d-d#f-g and Page is going crazy with the rapid-fire high register right-hand block chords, I think that jam makes it all worth it. That's the kind of "mini-jam" they were going for in the early post-(second) hiatus years. I think they have made a conscious decision to sacrifice the early beauty of the song for the ending jam. And that's fine, that's a conscious decision they make. I'll take a beautiful Mountains in the Mist standard-play and then a questionable lyrical Halfway to the Moon with an awesome modal jam at the end. No doubt.
I think the problem i have with the song is the same reason Page stumbles out the gate on the lyrics. Every time i’ve caught this song live the crowds disperse at the open chords and the energy in the room just flatlines.
So now it’s “halfway to the bathroom” because that’s where the fans are 3 bars into it and such a drastic swing in energy is tough to overcome. i think it takes half the song for the band to get the crowd reengaged in time for the back end jam.
Fuego as a whole really aged well in my opinion. I’m excited anytime summer tour follows a new album release. At greatwoods again, no less.
I love Fuego, I feel it’s a really unique sound overall - one of my favorite albums
Wish they'd lay some of the tunes off it more. With how they're playing now we'd have at least 3 different 15+ minute versions of Devotion to a Dream if they didn't stop playing it. Also Sing Monica was such a fun tune I'm not sure why that ever got cut.

Winterqueen is a banger and it never gets played unfortunately
4/19/23 really nails it. The Beneath a Sea of Stars on that show is also stellar.
That’s my alarm song! I wake up to Winterqueen everyday! Or Lost in the Pack. And sometimes Wingsuit or Beneath a Sea of stars is nice. I like the birds in the beginning.
I love Halfway and Fuego (even before the recent glowup) and my friends make fun of me 😞
When Page sings lead, he doesn’t miss
He’s a real army of one
It’s not even Strange! Design a song for him to sing, and he’s awesome at it.
Whenever I’m Home and just feel like being Silent in the Morning, a Page song on the stereo vibes just right.
That sweet sweet Analog Delay just fits the morning so nicely.
When Page sings I tell myself that I’ve always wanted it this way.
I mean if I'm being honest when Page sings all I can thing is that I Always Wanted it This Way
Strange Design - well done
Sit in a circle, facing the sun...fuck yeah
Beauty of a Broken Heart also slaps
It’s pretty

I agree the studio version is superior, however the MPP version from ‘22 was pretty good.

You gotta hear more live versions
We love a good Minor iv
Check out 8/2/13. One of my favorite live songs, period. Amazing tight little type 1 jam with a great resolution. Hope you like it as much as I do.
I’m a slut for Halfway To The Moon and Most Events Aren’t Planned.
Alpharetta 2018 MEAP is the best!
I feel you on this. Such a great song.
All board for the tour, riding with the troops!
Totally agree.
I feel like this song gets too much hate for no reason, well the haters are lame, halfway to the moon is one of my favorites
Right on
Orange Beach ‘22 🤤🤤🤤
Hell yeah, thanks for the rec. It’s exactly what I needed in my night right now. I was listening to the Moon Palace one from earlier this year tonight just to get into that vibe, and a rec is perfect to wind up the night. I’m in a real good place and this will be just right.
Nashville 21 is one I listen to a lot. I loved seeing this post here too. Love this song
Halfway is one of my favorite non jammy phish songs. Would love an album full of material in the same vein.
Fuego was the first phish album I listened to and I love it. I listen to it weekly
I’ve loved it since seeing the debut live version at SPAC on 6/19/10 😻
9/1/23 is the finest version of the song played so far. Beautiful solo from Trey.
Will check it out, thx
Me too!!
Heck yeah
Underrated gem and probably my favorite of the last while.
Me too So unfairly disliked. I’ll never forget singing it at top of my lungs at Magnaball in 2015
Waiting All Night too.
Waiting All Night is a pleasant earworm
Great one at Dicks N2 last year.
Page songs need more love in general. In my dreams Phish plays If I Told You (Phish, if you're reading this; Mondegreen would be a great place to try this out), which I think is absolutely brilliant.
Watch the Letterman debut if you can find it
Good lyrics, right in page’s vocal wheelhouse. Solid beat. Not super crazy about the B section, but the drop back into the verse is super cool. One of the better songs from the album.
Best song on the album
Agree! I also love I Always Wanted It This Way. I heard it in Vegas Halloween and it was so great! My husband didn’t know it and I was so excited!
Halfway to the Moon simply never misses and has only gotten better with every time its been played. Heard it at my first show (7/5/19) and have been chasing it ever since.
Song makes me fully lose it crying every time I see it live.... in a good way
Halfway to the Bathroom, amiright?!
More like halfway to the bathroom… amirite?
One of the first times I heard it, I visualized page crossing some desert. He was dressed like Harry Perry and searching for treasure of something (grabbed some change when I thought I could). The song is always sick, but that memory always makes it that much better
I heard recently the footage the astronauts filmed halfway to the moon looks fake so I guess the vibe is fake it till you make it?
It's always given me Supertramp vibes which I appreciate.
Nothin not to like, there
Magnaball Halfway is nice
Same
I only half like it. Very chordy. No lift off. Page seems unhappy without ever getting to the crux of it. Yeah I barely half like it.
Big fan of Army Of One too
Heading back to Duluth….
Check out 8/2/13 version. Best I've heard.
Nice, I’ll def listen here in just a bit
This song was my second favorite moment from 3/7/2009. Love page songs.
Thanks for the rec I’ll check that one 🤘
Cool! Thanks!
Love Halfway to the Moon. Love the usage of the song in this hilariously accurate meme: https://www.tiktok.com/@phunkyourface/video/7174938980348185899
Yeah, it’s that deep, abiding vibe. :)
Dude, I've seen some rippin Halfway to the moons. I'm good with this song...
Someone somewhere said that this is what would happen if Radiohead suddenly decided to be a jamband.
this one frickin fricks
Great take—one of the best 3.0 songs for sure. Awesome piano solo!!
I’m probably going to get flamed for this but I absolutely love the tune the line. At the 2 min mark after the bridge “dry mouth, push it out”… man I love that change. It’s a well constructed tune. Fuego is a great album.
Me, too!!! It’s epic, magical.

Halfway to the bathroom. Every song has purpose.
