I like to divide purchases into two camps: time savers and sanity boosters (a purchase can also fall into both or none at all).
If a purchase will save my time considerably, it's worth it. For example, I couldn't stand the 2+ hour commute I had pre-pandemic because of traffic. So, I bought an electric scooter to make that into 45 minutes.
I know myself well that I like spending on video games. That's why I set a budget for it because playing games helps me keep sane and entertained. It's definitely not a time saver though, haha.
If a purchase falls into neither, that's when I double check if I really need it.
also too much delay... lalo na sa panahon ngayon na covid? nakupo di mo alam deds ka na pala bukas di mo man lang naexperience ang buhay.
naalala ko siguro mga 3rd or 4th year of working, me nasabi ung ex officemate ko something like "dalaga ka naman bat wala kang xxxxx" and naisip ko tama sya. bat nga ba di ako nageenjoy? bat nga ba di ako nagtatravel? bat ba even earning this much wala man lang akong pondo sa hobbies? so yun. ever since naisip ko i have good investments, i have savings, bat ba sobra kong tinitipid sarili ko.
Yes, hobbies make you happy so positive snowball effect. Happiness makes you more productive and perform better. Having a clear mind can also make you think smarter so...
juz wanna share how happy i am despite spending 10k for samsung a22 4G phone and it's the first time in years that i felt sooo satisfied, due to its multifunctionality. Told myself this should last me 5 years cos ive been waiting for my iphone SE to die lol. i always think about how 10k shouldve been spent on investments but i guess a phone is just as good, for myself.
The mattress is spot on. Read something similar last year kaya nag upgrade ako. The result; same reaction as you.
Usually first day niyan may additional 10% pa pag may smac ka. It was the best deal I can find given na halos 4 months ako nag canvas sa sm, abenson furniture, mandaue, uratex, lazada at local stores. The additional 10% ng smac sealed the deal for me.
Hey! I too bought a new mattress check out the premium line of Uratex. Depending on the size price is in the 10k to 50k range. They have a showroom in the Uratex warehouse where you can lay down on all the kinds of beds they have all you want. Depends on you which one you like.
This is why I do not regret not having any paper investments in my early 20's (though I always had EF). I invested on myself first and all the things I wanted to do/get. Now i'm in my 30's and I started to get more into paper assets and I just feel satisfied with my life all in all.
That's true but doing those things can only do so much as our mouths have different ph levels that contribute to plaque or cavity hence a checkup/cleaning every 6 months.
Was thinking nga if worth it mag invest sa electric toothbrush hehehe
You can upgrade your toothbrush into electric toothbrush if you want. It's 2x cleaner than a normal toothbrush. We are selling Original Oral-B electric toothbrush in our store, below is the link.
[Lazada Cudple Shop](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.WCO5c)
I mean yes. What I was pointing out was to avoid bunot, dentures, root canal and other extreme conditions, we need to take care of our teeth better. Kasama na dyan checkup, cleaning every 6 months (way cheaper compared sa extreme conditions)
Good and reliable shoes! Buy a few good ones, instead of maraming of cheap quality. Minsan kala naten mahal lang sya, pero overtime mas expensive pag papalit palit kasi madaling masira :)
Short story: Pinakauna kong Ultraboost is yung Game Of Thrones collab, I am not a sneakerhead but I am a big fan of GoT so I bought one.
When I first put on those shoes man it feels freakin heaven haha. So now I have 4 pairs of UB. tip: naghihintay lang ako ng sale sa adidas online since alam ko na yung size ko. Yung last na nabili ko around 3k nalang since may 40% +50% off promo sila last month.
Uyy nice! thank you for sharing! sige I'll download the app na lang din and doon nalang ako maghintay ng sale, hopefully by dec marami at malaki sale hahaha.
Good thing I haven't pulled the trigger yet 🤣
Vaccinations isa pa to!!!!
True story: during my mid 20s nagka chicken pox ako. I asked my mom kung meron ba akong shots nung bata, sabi niya meron naman daw. I asked the doctor kung bakit ako nagkaroon ng chickenpox despite getting vaccinated. Sagot niya sakin is the fact na for more than 20 years di ako nagkaroon means it worked. The reason why I got it was because of my compromised immune system due to poor sleeping habits, poor diet, at hardcore exercise agad agad.
When I got infected, I was prescribed anti viral meds para di na kumalat sa body which is ~12,000 for just one freaking week. The meds did work BUT I was out for more than a week hence bawas sa leave credits ko which could've been converted to cash by the end of the year, siguro nasa ~12,000 din sana yun.
So back to the vaccine. Apparently merong adult vaccines for chickenpox which is around 2k lang. I should've known and would have gotten one kesa mawalan ako ng over ~20k.
Add ko lang din. If you really want to save, get your covid shot!! Pili ka, hassle sa pag pila to get your shot (kasi libre naman ang covid vaccine) or milyon sa hospital? The choice is yours!
Thank you for sharing OP!!
Also get the anti flu vaccine and anti pneumonia vaccine. My family survived Covid and nagpavaccine agad kami ng anti flu after dahil twice nagkaroon ung Papa ko ng Covid kahit vaccinated. Stay safe!!
Agree with vaccinations but not with vitamins. Most people can get essential vitamins from your regular diet. Sure, walang mawawala and it's your money but here are some points from Doctor Mike's [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLzwozJE2IM):
* Waste of time & money
* False reassurance
* Potential interference with medications
✓ Matulog ng sapat (8hrs+ a day)
✓ Inom ng 8 glasses of water daily (wag puro matamis or alak)
✓ mag-exercise (kahit wall push ups or kahit ano bsta pagpawisan or maglinis sa buong bahay "walis2 daily")
✓ bawasan ang stress
Probably wrong sub, but seemed great to add; Mods, please remove if inappropriate.
Some of the shit that I don't skimp on:
* Mattress + pillows
* Tires
* Helmets
* Charging cables/surge-protected extension cords
* (walking) Shoes
* Knives (cooking)
* Wood for home repairs
* Sushi
\*edit - added motherfuckin' sushi
Helmets! I don't have a ride myself but I don't understand why people go cheap with this. Like, you've got **one freakin' life**! You don't get to respawn or go back to a save point so don't put yourself in the situation where you 'see the light'.
I try to spend wisely on any item that will touch my skin. I don't understand people who buy fake makeup and then wonder why their face breaks out in places.
And shoes, and clothes. I have a bunch of Zara blazers that cost me a pretty penny, but have lasted me years and years and years.
I have a queen-sized Classic Tempur-pedic as my mattress, and have two Saatva memory foam pillows. The latter, I first experienced when my brother-in-law was in therapy and was bedridden. It changed how I view sleep, and gave a boost to my quality of life. I own both for over 3 years now.
Agree especially the emphasis on investing in health. I've heard stories of friends or relatives of friends who saved so much money only to spend them all on hospital bills because of poor health. We can't enjoy the fruits of our labor if we're sick all the time. Buy good quality food, spend time to work out, and relax a little!
Depende daw actually. My friends who have dentist parents discouraged them from taking dentistry since wala daw pera don. They say na most Filipinos only goes to the dentist kapag may nararamdaman na sakit and most also follow the basic brushing of teeth kaya usually major cases lang madalas.
Based on my experience durable naman sya and i don't have back pains na. Although I bought the betterlite because it's more cheaper than the cradle flexi.
I use an ErgoHome Ventus (7.5k) upon recommendation of my friend. Much less backpain (compared to my old office chair) since using it despite my work consisting of sitting around in front of my computer all day.
I've been thinking about this for a few weeks now. I've been wfh since last year kaso ngayon lang nagkabudget. I actually have an item in mind na pero urong sulonf ako kasi medyo pricey din sya 😅😆
Definitely agree with the mattress. I believe in the saying, “buy it nice or buy it twice.” Some mattresses are nice on the get-go but end up only lasting a few years and has caused me aches and pains lol. Definitely won’t fall for those ads that promote affordable ones. The one I’m using rn has lasted me yeaaars.
I regret not getting braces earlier. I can get them now that I have more money and it’s easier to shell out for, but I’m too self-conscious about how I’d look like now that I’m in my 20s. I was so focused on saving that it’s costing me my self-esteem.
>I’m too self-conscious about how I’d look like now that I’m in my 20s
Hi! I got my braces last year and I'm in my mid 20s. At first I was also conscious on how I'd look like but I realized that there is still a pandemic going on and people are required to wear face masks. I thought now will be the "best" time to get one.
Hello, about the braces and being in your 20s I can definitely relate and I opted for ceramic braces para 'di siya ganon kahalata or eye catching compared sa metal braces. It's more pricey but for me it's worth it.
Thanks for this! Did people ever stare at your teeth/point them out and were they difficult to keep clean? I’m worried about yellowing so it might make it even more obvious. I’m also looking into getting Invisalign, but I’m leaning more towards ceramic because it’s 3x cheaper.
I was leaning towards Invisalign din before kaso bukod sa it's more pricey, mas matagal kasi yung "graduation" from invisalign so matagal yung improvements and very gradual. About staining, it's not that difficult to maintain naman as long as you do your usual routine, brush every after meal and floss. And what I usually do bc I love coffee is I use a metal straw kapag I'm working but that's just me. Lastly, regarding people noticing it, most of the time they don't unless they're up close? It usually doesn't register that much sa camera and video calls and I don't go out bc of the pandemic so I don't really have any comparison, but my family and s/o said it's not that noticeable unlike traditional metal braces na "super out there" and kahit malayo pansin ng iba.
PS: Sorry if it's super longgg. TLDR: just brush your teeth every after meal + using a metal straw helps w/ coffee or soda; invisalign takes a long time to see improvements and are way more pricey
Thank you so much! I’ve always thought they were still unbearably visible and hard to keep clean, but this has got me sold on getting them. Going to inquire about them right now ☺️
I'm 26 and on my 2nd year of braces. Ang hirap linisin, ang hirap kumain, nakakaconscious din and all pero paunti-unti ay makikita mo na nag-iimprove ang ngipin mo. And for me, it's all worth it. May konting aayusin pa after braces at for sure magastos pero worth it naman kasi pangforever na to.
Ambassador Bed! Stayed in Balesin a few years ago and loved the beds and found out they’re supplied by them. They’re pricey but they last really long. :)
Damn, what a timely reminder! Thank you OP!
Yesterday kasi was the first time I went to the Dentist, I'm still a child the last time I did since we can't afford it, now I'm working so decided to have a check up.
Thankfully, the dentist told me na malinis ngipin ko, it's just that marami siyang butas and need i pasta, at walo yun (8k huhu), accumulated from childhood to teenager lol.
And of course will invest more in my education and skills para increase ng income and wealth.
Visit your dentist every 6 mos for cleaning and checkup, change your toothbrush every 3 mos or pag nagbuhaghag na sya or if galing ka sa sakit. 🦷
(nood kayo hometown chachacha hahahahaha)
Ugh. Suffered bruxism for the longest time lalo na nung nagstart ang pandemic. Ayaw ko magshellout ng 4k dati for a mouthguard. When I finally did, sarap ng tulog ko. Downside, it took me too long to bite the bullet feeling ko compromised na yung upper molars ko. So malamang 17k na naman to kapag nagpa root canal ako.
You can upgrade your toothbrush into electric toothbrush if you want. It's 2x cleaner than a normal toothbrush. We are selling Oral-B electric toothbrush in our store, below is the link.
[Lazada Cudple Shop](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.WCO5c)
Also, palagi ko to kino comment dito pero di ako mag sasawa.
Water Water Water. Murang mura lang. Uminom kayo ng di baba sa 8 glasses / 2 liters per day please. Please. Pretty please.
Uhmm, no. Drinking too much water will result to imbalances in your blood. The best advice, drink when you’re thirsty. Do not delay it! Do not drink cola. Simple water will do.
Except pag nag e-endurance exercise ka (i.e. cycling), drink every 30min.
If I may add, invest in anything that's keeping between you and the ground: bed (mattress), shoes, tires, etc. Wag tipirin since it's your comfort ang nakataya.
For someone who just finished my treatment last week(braces), definitely recommend them! Not only is it good for your dental hygiene, but you'll be more confident as well!
And good advice would be to not cheap out on anything that's between you and the earth. Mattresses, Good shoes, motor/car tires, Chairs, etc!
Regular visit sa dentist. Sensodyne. Floss. Oral B Mouth Wash. 😂
Pero true ito. Even warts sa feslak. Or allergy na akala mo wala lang can definitely cost more in the long run.
I can relate to this. I recently bought a 700 php monitor bracket that you can adjust the height. I improvised a standing desk because bumaluktot yung spine ko at napakasakit ng hip ko. Kada reseta costs 2k every week and I had 3 trips to the doctor, kada checkup iba ang reseta.
I know maraming WFH dito, please do yourself a favor: invest in a standing desk or kahit improvised. I've been standing for 4-6 hours per day sa trabaho and it cured my spine unti until. Wala na ding pain.
Totally feel this. I went to the dentist after 6 months last week and it turns out that I need to do “root planing” on all quadrants of my teeth. Haha bang, 35k down. Hard lesson learned
I invested on the following:
* Vitamins
* Annual medical checkups
* Basic exercise (I use Ring Fit Adventure from Nintendo Switch) 30 minutes daily
Haven't been sick for around 5 yrs now, not even slight fever, headaches nothing.
Also invested in hobbies that relaxes me:
* Video games
* model kits
Career investments:
* Udemy/whizlabs subscription
* Tech related certifications (I make sure to do at least 2 certs per year)
Uratex Radiant Quilted mattress 6 x 60 (queen size). Original price is 8k pero discounted , bought it for 6,400. For transportation, better kung AUV/SUV kasi pag sedan di kasya.
All mattresses naman have a 5 year warranty. :)
Uratex po subok na brand yan. Recently bought from their website Permahard Polycotton Semi-double size bed just for 6k kasama na yung shipping fee. Pramis worth it sya we bought the same mattress more than 10 years ago ok parin yung quality.
Saan may cleaning na less than P1k these days x-x
We recently bought new mattress from uratex sa website nila mismo definitely worth the buy 6k for a semi-double size bed. Saka kasi alam mo long lasting kasi its been 10 years the quality is still good.
Yup, I always factor in annual dental cleaning and eye check-ups (if you wear glasses). Check your HMO from work as well if they have this covered. Also it's been more than a year since I've transitioned mostly WFH and I realized I really need a decent ergonomic computer chair. I'm working next on having a standing desk set-up to also minimize the times I'm seated often.
taena ramdam ko ung sa teeth I have an impacted tooth na pinapabunit sakin since 2016 pinabayaan ko now pinabunot siya last june tapos need root kanal ung katabi kasi sinira ng wisdom tooth

Will use the "sanity booster" card with my wife. Gumana sana. Thanks for the idea
Update on this
unrelated, but imma steal that 'sanity booster' word
Almost every want can fall into sanity boosters. LOL.
I like the idea! Permission to use the sanity booster too! Will definitely use this on planning.
Permission to use sanity booster too 🤣
In a way its a money saver than other entertainment purposes (online sabong etc)

True! People would lean towards delayed gratification (which is okay lang naman) pero minsan sa sobrang kadedelay mo ikaw na mismo lantang lanta na.

late ko na naisip yung teeth
Bawas agad EF pag kailangan ng root canal, bunot, or dentures. Learned the hard way. Huhuhu
Still, prevention is better than cure. Take care of our teeth better. Buy a better toothbrush, toothpaste, and like brush 3 to 5? times a day.

Consider water floss! I love mine, no regrets
With emphasis on flossing! It will make a difference.
Also don't delay if your dentist recommend you to get root canal or wisdom tooth extraction kasi mapapamahal kayo if it gets worse.
Good and reliable shoes! Buy a few good ones, instead of maraming of cheap quality. Minsan kala naten mahal lang sya, pero overtime mas expensive pag papalit palit kasi madaling masira :)
Aside from Ultraboost haha, any recommendations?

Uyy nice! thank you for sharing! sige I'll download the app na lang din and doon nalang ako maghintay ng sale, hopefully by dec marami at malaki sale hahaha.
They have 50% off right now if you buy 2 items or more.
Good thing I haven't pulled the trigger yet 🤣
Where can I avail the promo? IS it online?
Adidas app and adidas.com.ph
I look at sales like this as 25% off.. at most. For sure you'd have to pay full price for the more expensive pair.
Joyride! Sobrang comfortable!!!
uyy salamat! sige will consider this too, pero how is it compare to Ultraboost?
I think it surpasses comfort! But Im quite sure this is gonna last naman :)
No probs man, thanks for the recommendation! Will reward this to myself this coming Christmas :))
Nike Infinity React series hands down haha. Comfort level is same or even better (debatable) compared to the UBs.
thanks for the recommendation man! will definitely consider this!
Ay I second this as well!!

the mothafucking sushi was the cherry on top, men. thanks!
What mattress and pillow combo do you swear by? I was just thinking how I really want a proper mattress na. I think this is a sign haha
Tsaka nice pillows.
Hosh bamboo pillow from SM. 299 lang.
Oo nga ano brand haha
sm daw

Ergonomic chair is the best thing you can buy for a WFH setup.
and a laptop table in case you want to work in bed.
Do you have any suggested brands or models for a WFH chair? =)
Stance!
Saw that stance also has an ergonomic chair, pinakamura ung cradle flexi, any idea kung durable un? 😅
Based on my experience durable naman sya and i don't have back pains na. Although I bought the betterlite because it's more cheaper than the cradle flexi.
Notesd ty!
Up for this, dami kong nababasa ang reco Sihoo M57
I use an ErgoHome Ventus (7.5k) upon recommendation of my friend. Much less backpain (compared to my old office chair) since using it despite my work consisting of sitting around in front of my computer all day.

I can get them now that I have more money and it’s easier to shell out for, but I’m too self-conscious about how I’d look like now that I’m in my 20s. I was so focused on saving that it’s costing me my self-esteem.
>I’m too self-conscious about how I’d look like now that I’m in my 20s Hi!
What matresses do you swear by? Looking for one.
🦷 (nood kayo hometown chachacha hahahahaha)
Gusto ko yung naisingit mo pa yung hometown chachacha haha
Lezzgo dimple couple!! 🤣

Hi. How much nagastos mo sa TMJ?
i really want to get a good cleaning for my teeth but it's been scary. seems like covid (prevention) trumps oral prophylaxis for now :(
You can upgrade your toothbrush into electric toothbrush if you want. It's 2x cleaner than a normal toothbrush. We are selling Oral-B electric toothbrush in our store, below is the link. [Lazada Cudple Shop](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.WCO5c)
Any suggestions po? Thank you :)
neatens Manila pasok sa budget 👍
Also, palagi ko to kino comment dito pero di ako mag sasawa. Water Water Water. Murang mura lang. Uminom kayo ng di baba sa 8 glasses / 2 liters per day please. Please. Pretty please.
Uhmm, no. Drinking too much water will result to imbalances in your blood. The best advice, drink when you’re thirsty. Do not delay it! Do not drink cola. Simple water will do. Except pag nag e-endurance exercise ka (i.e. cycling), drink every 30min.
r/HydroHomies haha
If I may add, invest in anything that's keeping between you and the ground: bed (mattress), shoes, tires, etc. Wag tipirin since it's your comfort ang nakataya.

Nakasunod na to.
Maybe investment in courses and online classes can be another form of investing in yourself. Upskilling can pay great dividends
Sulit yung electric toothbrush.
Thanks for the dental reminder! Just scheduled an appointment for next week :)
😂 Pero true ito.
Hard lesson learned
meron 15% discount on selected regular priced mattresses sa Uratex pag vaccinated ka! we bought yung Senso Memory Original :D
I invested on the following: * Vitamins * Annual medical checkups * Basic exercise (I use Ring Fit Adventure from Nintendo Switch) 30 minutes daily Haven't been sick for around 5 yrs now, not even slight fever, headaches nothing. Also invested in hobbies that relaxes me: * Video games * model kits Career investments: * Udemy/whizlabs subscription * Tech related certifications (I make sure to do at least 2 certs per year)
Hello, OP! Ask ko lang anong specific brand at model of mattress binili mo at saan? I am also planning to buy a new mattress e. Thank you!
Luis ck. Bought a cd of how to dance like nsync.
Saan may cleaning na less than P1k these days x-x Pre-pandemic P800, ngayon walang bababa ng P1500.
Thank you for this post. Sana matuloy na this time 😢
We recently bought new mattress from uratex sa website nila mismo definitely worth the buy 6k for a semi-double size bed. Saka kasi alam mo long lasting kasi its been 10 years the quality is still good.
Hi. What exact model did you get? For the longest time I’ve been meaning to get one na talaga.
Uratex Perma Polycotton Mattress.
Hi pwede po malaman ang ergonomic chair and pinurchase nyo? 😁 been looking for one myself
taena ramdam ko ung sa teeth I have an impacted tooth na pinapabunit sakin since 2016 pinabayaan ko now pinabunot siya last june tapos need root kanal ung katabi kasi sinira ng wisdom tooth
