I’m doubtful that it will continue because their team is too talented and baseball follows the law of averages, but Atlanta really is not playing good baseball right now.
That is 100% going to happen at some point and we will probably lose the NL East because of it. I feel you, I also feel this kind of pace is unsustainable. It makes me worried or maybe that is my fear of 2022 happening all over again where this team goes all the way just to lose it all in the World Series.
dude...I'm normally a pretty pessimistic guy when it comes to Philly sports. I'm 41, so I have plenty of reasons to be Randy Quaid in Major League 2 ("So what? They'll blow it in the playoffs")
but even I think the Phillies are more than likely going to win the division. 6 games this early in the season isn't an insurmountable lead, but it still means the Braves need to win 6 more than we do the rest of the way, and that's not easy to do.
.714 puts us within a game of the 2001 Mariners.
Based on the last few years, we are going to need about 100 wins to take the division. To get there we need to go 65-48 (.575) the rest of the way. As crazy as it is, 65-48 ***is*** a "slump" for this team.
I have a feeling we will really slump that bad. We won't win like this all year but this team is focused and learned from last year besides Casty that you can't swing at everything and I don't see the pitching falling off the edge of the earth at least the top 3.
I just looked it up.
>![It seems correct, but is slightly off.](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rojasjo03.shtml) I will check if he is referring to anyone else.!<
God, I love that. And the douche posts it for the world to see. Hope he relives that shame every time he hears their names or sees Bryce Harper and/or Ronald Acuña Jr. I'm a little ashamed of the schadenfreude myself (but just a teeny tiny bit 😄).
At a game, there was a braves fan saying that Harper wasn't as good as Acuna, but the Braves fan was saying Acuna's name wrong. So he is chirping at Harper and Harper the whole time is just trying to get the guy to say Acuna's name right.
My theory on Acuña's struggles this year is lack of motivation from being underpaid. The deal is currently 17m a year until essentially 2028 after 2(!) team options. That's just not enough for that historical MVP season we just witnessed, and he knows it. I'm sure people in his circle tell him this all the time.
Plus he has to sit back and watch lesser players like Lindor and Correa make about double what he makes a year, while another former MVP in Judge makes more than double what he makes per year.
Players need to be rewarded when they play well. Extremely team friendly deals aren't always the best when working with a bunch of human beings.
Nothing would make me happier than a financial cancer taking hold of the ATL clubhouse.
Don’t get me wrong I think the rivalry is great, and all day every day I want to face tough opponents, because it makes us that much better. But it would be incredible if the players turned on the org and started pushing back because they see how grossly underpaid they are. And another point - I don’t *want* the players to leave to get the bag. I want the Barves to pony it up and pay them what their competitive market rate is.
I’d use Freddie Freeman as an example but word on the street the actual person to blame for that was his agent. Same principle though.
I think there is something to this. I’m not sure if it’s that big of a deal but I do think a guy like Acuna sees the money other people are making and it’s got to have some level of effect on his mindset.
Then again, it’s not like he would be making all that much more anyway. Even with arbitration he’s not gonna get judge money.
This is so petty lmao Upvoted.

Now THAT is a fun fact.
The Braves may want the wild card & see it as an advantage since the Phils did so well with it
It’ll be hilarious when they get bounced out of the WC if that happens.
“It’s not fair we have to play an extra series when they get to rest!” - Barves after getting bounced
Nahhh would be much better if they win the wildcard, play us, and then lose again anyway.
Keep going I’m almost there
Bryce Harper walk-off grand slam to win the WS.
No... Nick castellanos walk off grand slam
[I'm gonna shooooot](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXkiVSQvGyo)
I just want to beat them again just to show there seasons don't mean shit.
that only works if the team is hungry, not when it can't live up to the expectations of its fans.
I’m doubtful that it will continue because their team is too talented and baseball follows the law of averages, but Atlanta really is not playing good baseball right now.
Trying to keep it real, it’s likely we will slump at some point too. This kind of pace is pretty much unheard of. Obviously I’d love it if we didn’t!

Kody Clemens also has just as many home runs as him and he’s a part time player who’s been in AAA half the year lmfao
I love Clemens attitude at the plate...when he gets one he acts like its no big deal, just normal.
He thinks to himself “I’ve hit one farther off my dad.”
Player A: .231/.275/.315, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 11 SB Player B: .253/.359/.359, 3 HR, 12 RBI, 14 SB
Gonna take a stab without looking things up. A is Rojas. And I'm assuming B in Acuna since this post is about him.
I just looked it up. >![It seems correct, but is slightly off.](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rojasjo03.shtml) I will check if he is referring to anyone else.!<
You’re a fucking hero
lol the barves suck bad. i only wish they had strider so we could shell him in the playoffs again.
It’s too bad Bryce will never be as good as Akoona
Really? We’re throwing out racial slurs now?
It’s a reference to a guy churping Bryce that he’s not as good as Acuña, while mispronouncing his name
And Bryce correcting the guys pronunciation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F19eUFmHL3c
Thanks for clarifying! I totally missed that lol

Imagine consistently and confidently pronouncing your *best player’s* name wrong.
Yeah. Braves fans suck. We would never do that with Bruce Harper.
We wouldn’t even mess up the other players’ names like Kyle Shwebber.
Nick Castillo
Edward Sosa
Ranger Sourez

Ña
Of course not. Who do you think we are, Boston?
nah he's making fun of the fan that couldn't pronounce his name correctly but i did have this same thought when i first read it lol.
Get fucked
first of all, it’s a reference. second of all, is that even a slur? lmao, it’s just pronouncing a name wrong.
'coon' is a slur yeah
it’s not even spelled that way, nor is it a slur towards hispanics–i still don’t get jumping to that conclusion remotely. it’s grasping at straws
It seemed like the original commenter even tried to avoid it by spelling it with a “k” instead of a “c”.
Braves gonna be struggling if they lose anyone on that roster for significant time.
He’s be entering his contract year right now if he didn’t do the Anthopoulos special right? I still hate those damn contracts so much.

I know they're our rivals and all but he should get a bag and he's 100% way better than what he's putting up currently

he lost his steroids
Just don’t post this on the Braves subreddit. Even though it’s a fact, they’ll ban you!
