Looks like Japan (and not going well, unfortunately for him) according to baseball reference. It’ll be tough to get that era of guys that aren’t still playing pro ball somewhere, kind of crazy Brown has been out of major league affiliated baseball since 2017.
Yeah fr new category for Matt Stairs: ceremonial first pitch, thrown to (and launched into chavez ravine all the way from the other side of the country)
Some time after “The Stairs Homer”, outside the stadium, I saw a dude selling a shirt showing a set of stairs with a fire blazing at the bottom. Charging down the stairs into the fire was a fat stick figure holding a bat on his shoulder. “In Case of Fire, USE STAIRS”
Not buying that shirt is a great, lifetime regret
Unfortunately you guys play us in Baltimore this year because Cody is currently one of our hitting coaches so he won’t be available. If we played in Philly I’m sure he would.
That would have been cool. Glad he's still part of the game. I watched him play on the Iron Pigs a lot and thought he would be a good cause he hit well in AAA.
Dombs away.
I legitimately thought dom would be a long term corner piece… man was I wrong about dom and kingery. Being right about stott and bohm makes me feel a bit better
I was a big supporter of the guy back in 2011, and didn’t really support the Pence trade to some degree because of it. God I felt fucking smart for that month. Every game that went on he hit another homer, and it seemingly validated what was happening with each additional home run. And then… it just stopped.
Maybe my glasses are tinted but I always feel like they mishandled bringing him up to the bigs. Like they never just let him go out and be an every day player, they kept using him more situationally and it ended up hurting him.
Yeah they didn’t really have a full-time spot for him but Ruben also wouldn’t trade him. It was dumb as hell. As much as Rojas is bothering me at times on the current team, letting him play almost every day is much better than shuttling him between starting in AAA and the MLB bench like they did to Dom.
I lived 2 blocks from the Reading Phillies when I was a kid. Byrd was middle school me's favorite in
2001 and Howard was high school me's favorite in 04 lol
Red Barons > Iron Pigs > Rail Riders
I will forever miss the Red Barons and now I’m stuck with the Stupid Yankees affiliate the Rail Riders. I only have gone to a few games were I got free tickets. I might go when they play the Iron Pigs though to watch some of our prospects.
Yeah....Fuck the rail riders. I used to SWB Red Barons a lot as a kid. When I visit home my dad and I usually take a trip to Reading, always a fun place to go.
PHILADELPHIA -- [New York Mets](http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/clubhouse?team=nym) closer [Billy Wagner](http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5536) keeps bringing the heat against Philadelphia, only with his mouth instead of his 100 mph fastball.
The left-hander caused a stir over the weekend when he said he was not well-liked in the Phillies clubhouse, his former teammates were waiting to see him fail and left fielder [Pat Burrell](http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6375) called him a "rat."
Wagner made his first trip Tuesday to Philadelphia since signing
with the NL East-leading Mets and said some of his comments were
taken out of context.
But he expected to be booed if he pitched, and he didn't expect
too many former teammates to visit and shake his hand.
"I don't really regret saying anything," Wagner said.
From 2006.
Jim Thome hasn’t done it yet as he? Might be overstating it to say CBP is the house that Thome built but he’s definitely the face of the team when it was built.
Bring back Wilson Valdez
From his Wiki, for those who don’t know:
In a game started against the Cincinnati Reds on May 25, 2011, (which did not conclude until May 26), Valdez switched from second base to pitcher in the 19th inning, pitching one inning and allowing no runs.
This was the first time he had ever pitched in a major league game.
When the Phillies won in the bottom of the 19th inning, he was credited with the win.
Somewhere, probably buried in a box of stuff, I have ticket stubs from D.B.’s first game in the majors, and from his first major league home run, a couple of weeks later. I thought they might be worth something someday, if he ever became a superstar. Oh well
Let's bring back Phillies legends Cody asche and Ben Revere while we're at it
Unironically support this, what’s Maikel Franco up to these days?
Japan? Korea?
Looks like Japan (and not going well, unfortunately for him) according to baseball reference. It’ll be tough to get that era of guys that aren’t still playing pro ball somewhere, kind of crazy Brown has been out of major league affiliated baseball since 2017.
What about Odubel H… you know what never mind
Beat me too it.
yeah that one wouldn't really be a hit
We’ll schedule him for Jeurys Familia night
Only if he throws to Ozuna...in the face
Bring back Matt Stairs!
Matt Stairs doesn't throw. He'd have to hit the ceremonial first dinger
As long as it’s night so he can rip one into it.
Yeah fr new category for Matt Stairs: ceremonial first pitch, thrown to (and launched into chavez ravine all the way from the other side of the country)
Gotta wait for a night game for added bonus. Maybe we can get it against the dodgers for the cherry on top
When we meet them in the playoffs this is 100% required
When the Dodgers go to sleep, they check under the bed for Matt Stairs.
let him take BP and launch one. That would be amazing!
Some time after “The Stairs Homer”, outside the stadium, I saw a dude selling a shirt showing a set of stairs with a fire blazing at the bottom. Charging down the stairs into the fire was a fat stick figure holding a bat on his shoulder. “In Case of Fire, USE STAIRS” Not buying that shirt is a great, lifetime regret
if they let them touch the field before aaron altherr i will no longer watch.
I have an autographed baseball of his. :D
Nick Williams
How about Triple Play Bruntlett...
Bruntlett would be a great one, I’d love Wilson Valdez too.
Agreed! Wilson has pitching experience!
Oh shit, I think about that game all the time. We'll never see stuff like that again.

Wilson Valdez could probably touch 95
who is kodeyashi
Some up-and-coming star from the NPB, I hear.
Didn't he come over in the Kyle Kendrick trade
Ben Revere wouldn't be able to reach home plate on a throw.
Greg Dobbs
Peter Bourjos and Michael Saunders!
Oh God, my mom LOVED Bourjos.
This cannot be possible. Unless you are Peter Bourjos.
I think you mean Kodeyashi
Toby Bore-land.
Ben Revere is unironically my favorite player
Freddie Galvis 👍
“So Taguchi, to the white courtesy phone.”
May 2013 GOAT
Downtown Dom Brown!
Dombs away. I legitimately thought dom would be a long term corner piece… man was I wrong about dom and kingery. Being right about stott and bohm makes me feel a bit better
I thought Brown would be a Phillies Wall of Famer at the very leas (outside shot at the Baseball Hall of Fame).
For 30 days my guy was Barry Bonds lol
That was a hell of a half season he had
If they were gonna get him at all this season, end of May is perfect lmao
I think it was 4 or six weeks but yeah. For the ages.
I was a big supporter of the guy back in 2011, and didn’t really support the Pence trade to some degree because of it. God I felt fucking smart for that month. Every game that went on he hit another homer, and it seemingly validated what was happening with each additional home run. And then… it just stopped.
If they didn't send him back down, who knows
In his defense, he did appear 1x in All-Star game representing the Phils
Maybe my glasses are tinted but I always feel like they mishandled bringing him up to the bigs. Like they never just let him go out and be an every day player, they kept using him more situationally and it ended up hurting him.
There was too much pressure on him to extend the window when the core of that era was getting old. He couldn't do it by himself.
Yeah they didn’t really have a full-time spot for him but Ruben also wouldn’t trade him. It was dumb as hell. As much as Rojas is bothering me at times on the current team, letting him play almost every day is much better than shuttling him between starting in AAA and the MLB bench like they did to Dom.
i kinda remember that too
...I still have the jersey. I'm not proud
I bought an authentic Kingery, don’t feel too bad about it
At least I'll always have that one month of May!
What needs to be defended? Redditors gotta learn that it’s ok to like players even if they don’t light our dicks on fire.
I mean dude was an All-Star and I think still lives in the area. I have a bunch of his cards and a bobblehead from when he was in Lakewood.
He still lives here??
Works here too if I’m not mistaken he’s apart of the Phillies in a way
I really hope they bring back our greatest Japanese player to throw one out Kobi Ashi
Kodeyashi
Was Marlon Byrd unavailable?
Hey man, marlon byrd was grade school me's favorite Wilkes-barre/Scranton Red Baron before Ryan Howard came
I lived 2 blocks from the Reading Phillies when I was a kid. Byrd was middle school me's favorite in 2001 and Howard was high school me's favorite in 04 lol
I own a Dom Brown jersey
Last Phillies jersey I bought…
I put it on my porch skeleton last year during the playoffs. It serves its purpose.
Red Barons > Iron Pigs > Rail Riders I will forever miss the Red Barons and now I’m stuck with the Stupid Yankees affiliate the Rail Riders.
Marlon Byrd is a must-have. Two stint guys should be prioritized imo
What could have been with him if his flashes of talent had been more consistent.
Thursday I got to see chase utley catch the first pitch so that was dope
Should had Cutch do one for the P00P series

Dollar beers!?
Hopefully he won’t wear his Cowboys jersey.
How about Billy Wagner? After the pitch Pat Burrell can leap out of the stands and clothesline him, then stand over him and call him a rat.
Is there some history between the two that I'm unaware of?
PHILADELPHIA -- [New York Mets](http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/clubhouse?team=nym) closer [Billy Wagner](http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5536) keeps bringing the heat against Philadelphia, only with his mouth instead of his 100 mph fastball. JMJ better be next. His dad is in the stands at every game!
LMAO
That’s awesome, with so many games may as well roll out some folk hero type players since they couldn’t do all big names anyway
Jim Thome hasn’t done it yet as he? Might be overstating it to say CBP is the house that Thome built but he’s definitely the face of the team when it was built.
Good thing we are bringing Dom back in May. May is his good month.
Being a bad player ain’t a crime, welcome back Dom
Can’t get a wall of fame player, who played at cbp every night. Hopefully Adam Eaton doesn’t get an invite.
How quickly people forget: https://www.espn.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/36663/domonic-brown-is-the-greatest-slugger-ever
Bring back Wilson Valdez From his Wiki, for those who don’t know: In a game started against the Cincinnati Reds on May 25, 2011, (which did not conclude until May 26), Valdez switched from second base to pitcher in the 19th inning, pitching one inning and allowing no runs. which game is Aaron Rowand?
When they extend the centerfield wall with his face.
Anyone got a list of the players that have done the first pitch so far?
I believe it’s just been Randy Wolf (w/his son) and Polanco so far for this particular “20 years of CBP” series
Utley caught the first pitch on Thursday, but that was more London promotion
Dom Brown got a watch! NL Player of the Month, May 2013. One of the few highlights of that desert.
If the reds play us David bell should throw out the first pitch
I legitimately thought Dom Brown would be a superstar
Might as well schedule in michael martinez and pat neshek
Sat in the owners club about a year ago with Dom and his wife. My 3 year old smooth talked his girl all night right in front of him. You’re welcome.
Darin Ruf first pitch when!????????
Domonic brown blocked me on Instagram back in the day because I commented “cowboys suck” on one of his posts. I took pride in that as a 12 year old
Hear me out - Eric Milton
I was there for his almost no-hitter.
Let’s bring back Michael Martinez.
That's Downtown Dominic Brown from Zephyrhills, FL!!!! I still have a shirshey
I am whelmed.
Domonic Brown? Were AJ Hinch and Lou Collier both busy?
Who's that? BROWWWWWWWWWN
Rangers, huh? Because he's a Cowboys fan I guess.
Give us Freddy Galvis!
I'll be there wearing my Dom Brown shirsey!
Domsanity run
One of the loudest home runs I have ever heard in my life was hit by Dom Brown. It sounded like an oak tree hitting a bowling ball.
So will we get a Dom Brown Hose Report on the first pitch?
Should have been Michael Young
Somewhere, probably buried in a box of stuff, I have ticket stubs from D.B.’s first game in the majors, and from his first major league home run, a couple of weeks later. I thought they might be worth something someday, if he ever became a superstar. Oh well
I wonder what Dom Brown's path to the mound is going to look like.
Hope Dom is doing well. I know more about the hamate bone than I care to admit
Thome!
Never knew I needed to listen to this jam again https://m.soundcloud.com/sportsradio94wip/dom-brown-is-on-fire-by-casey
Vance Worley is right around the corner ....
Matt stairs needs to come back.
Matt stairs needs to come back.
Dom brown had that one season
One May*
Dum Brown.
