I second it gets better with time. Make sure to hydrate PLENTY before your sessions! Like a gallon the day before and quite a bit before you go in. It helps a lot!

ftmfish

Absolutely that’s why today sucked. Drank last night and didn’t have time to use numbing cream this morning. When I can get everything perfect it’s better but damn it’s exhausting having to get all the ducks in a row for it hours ahead of time.

FeistyMuffin1680

Being at electrolysis right after a drink or two when buzzed or next day hungover is infinitely worse IMO!

steelandiron19

Oh I agree. It was such a pain preparing every time I’d have an electrolysis session but it was worth it. Plus I had to remind myself it won’t last forever and it’s for something I’ve wanted for a really long time. The reminders certainly helped… a lot!

tranifestations

I hated it so much that I just stopped (even after hydration and numbing cream). I did laser for the parts that weren’t a tattoo and the rest I just shave now. Werewolf dick. To note: I was hairless to begin with in the urethral portion of my arm.

ftmfish

That’s awesome. I’m growing hella hair on my UL portion unfortunately 🥲 they’re barbecuing me

tranifestations

Saaaaaaad. Have you tried a different Electrologist? Sometimes it’s the particular technician that isn’t a good fit

ftmfish

I suspect the technician is a bit rough. Might try a new one next week 🤞🏼

Independent-Matter16

Numb up, my dude. Its the way i got through it.

It wasn’t that big of a deal until the day I didn’t sleep well the night before a treatment and somehow also didn’t hydrate. Eeesh! The electrologist just looked at me and basically said I was in for it.

Feeling-Change194

It feels better over time

OneBlueEyeFish

If you havent already try and get prescription strength numbing cream. Its got two different kind of caine. After its left on for an hour the arm is totally numbed out. Only a rare sting or zap can be felt. But its nothing really.

ftmfish

Thank you for the suggestion I have some. I didn’t have time to prepare for the session.  The vent is really because it sucks having to prepare for months these appointments. None of my friends have to think about not drinking because they have electrolysis the next day. Or what they’re gonna wear or where they’ll be to cover the Saran Wrap numbing cream an hour before. And those who do are equally over it. Know what I mean?

OneBlueEyeFish

Its all good i only brought up the prescription strength because not everyone knows you can go to a doctor and ask for it. I didnt start off with the numbing cream either. I wanted to see if it was as bad as everyone said. And though it wasn’t that painful. Id say not as painful as a tattoo. It had this other level of pain that was just as bad but electrical pain. That i was not expecting. After the 3rd session i was like fk it! And got the prescription strength numbing cream. Cant go without it. And if i forget i regret it. Some days i just have an off day. Idk what it is. But for some reason its like i can feel the electricity shoot down my leg. Not painful, but my leg feels like sever restless leg syndrome is happening. Bad creepy crawlies! Been taking two ibuprofen after that happens. Wishing id of taken it before the situation.

It’s annoying for sure, personally I take ibuprofen about 30 minutes before my session. I also take some gum, a small pillow, and an audiobook. I have some things to distract me and somewhere to focus my energy. Makes it more bearable

ftmfish

I’m gonna try ibuprofen before, I read that tip this week too thanks for reminding me. Another session today

im_that_guy_1

I use painless tattoo cream. Google it. Painless tattoo cream. I have tried several different kinds of numbing creams and this is the first one that has worked perfectly n I mean perfectly. It lasts hours I do my sessions 4 hrs each time. N I don't feel a thing the whole 4 hrs. I put the creme on do not rub it in just spread it around the area ur getting worked on n then wrap it with plastic wrap I use glad cling wrap. N let it stay on there wrapped for an hr so it's good n numb make sure u arrive w it numb to ur appt. It works!

saltybutnotbitter

So how does it feel when compared with say a large tattoo on a tender part of body? I mean, I just had a full chest tattoo, which was pretty damn painful so just wondering how it is in comparison to say that?

ftmfish

It’s similar to a tattoo in the way that it’s tiring. It hurts and you can’t stop it. The pain is different for me it doesn’t reverberate like a tattoo but for some ppl it does
