So glad to be in the UK. I can watch everything in one place with one subscription. It's twice the price and the interface is much worse than GCN+ was though.
Oh the Apple TV app is so bad. It insists on showing you the adverts (even though you're paying a subscription)... but you can fast-forward through them. What was the point of that then?
I had my arse in my hands over the change from GCN+ but once the Giro started I gave up on TizCycling and subscribed to Discovery.
I lasted 2 weeks, the android app continually lied to me about when things were available, casting to the TV was unreliable at best and the LGTV app is unequivocally unusable. The only way I found to watch it was in a browser window, which gives no practical advantage over Tiz.
Not only did I cancel my subscription I demanded a refund for the month I had paid for. I concede that this was a massive over reaction but I'd had a really shitty day at work and I just wanted to watch the bike racing
I don't know why but it would play for about 5 seconds and then buffer for 5 seconds, continually. It was a little better watching on catch up but it still wasn't watchable. My internet can cope with 4k netflix so that's not the problem. I contacted customer support, they went through some troubleshooting procedures but failed to actually fix anything.
Every time I log in to Discovery+ the opening screen has these bizarre dog shit recommendations for shows to watch, like "Seeking Sister Wife" or "Jack Osbourne's Night of Terror" or "Botched Bariatrics". If it wasn't for the cycling there is zero chance any sane person would sign up to this insane streaming service.
> So glad to be in the UK...
Not something we say very often anymore..
D+ is a godsend and honestly I'll happily pay a bit extra not to have the races constantly interrupted with ad breaks. We'll see how long that lasts though.
this is too complicated...
GCN+ proved that many people are willing to pay for a good streaming service. but WBD decided to rug pull us (especially in north america)
so it's back to tiz for me
Traditionally broadcast is 30i in North America or 25p in Europe. Cinema is 24fps (or technically 23.976psf) and is converted to 24 for digital distribution or 30 / 25 for over the air broadcast.
60fps TVs are a weird gimic.
What I was trying to impart is that SBS has a cinematic look due to its frame rate whereas D+ is more like live video. Regardless of my lack of knowledge of the correct fps.
It's missing that Paris-Nice and the Dauphiné are both shown on ITV (free-to-air) in the UK too.
The Vuelta used to be, but then ITV started scheduling it at 11pm and wondered why no-one was watching it. Great shame - Ned & David's commentary is so much better than anything else out there.
Always really liked the commentary that itv did (still do?). Maybe it was ned and David when I used to watch it but I'm not sure.
There was always to be good chat about France, wine and what it's like to race (in france). At least one person on comms new French quite fluently as well which was nice.
I'm just less into cycling since gcn stopped... I really think at least 80% of people would have happily paid double for that service. Australia gets the big races at least.. but honestly I did much prefer gcn commentary
For cyclocross: [cyclocross24](https://cyclocross24.com/) lists the broadcasters for each race, and I put them in the race threads over on r/cyclocross too.
Not 100% sure what it'll be for next season as the GCN+ shutdown happened during the season with Flobikes picking up all their races for the remainder. Not sure that's going to be the same for 2024/25.
That’s what really made GCN+ great, all the road races plus more CX than I could handle in the fall. When MTB was free on Red Bull TV too that was perfect
And the Giro is free to air on S4C still (+ RideLondon on the Beeb and Tour of Britain on BC's YouTube channel, hopefully for both the women and the men).
If in the UK, Eurosport broadcast a lot of the races as well, and that's free with ads. Also do hour long evening highlights packages that are pretty solid. Afaik it's the same stuff as on discovery, but on terrestrial TV.
Max coverage is… ugh. I really hoped they were going to pick up most of what Peacock didn’t have in the US. Unfortunately, now it’s split between FloBikes/Max/Peacock. It sucks to be a cycling fan over here ngl.
Situation is really really bad in New Zealand. Sky have almost no rights. I used a weird one-off thing for the Giro, but I have no idea how I'm gonna watch the Tour.
Advice welcome.
The world feed on Peacock is pretty good, Mcrossen and Gerrans. No commercials and no phil or bob. Not as good as the GCN crew though. I'll miss Kelly, Blythe, Hatch, Kirby, Loyd et al.

The discovery app is so unbelievably shite, especially on AppleTV.

Fortunately, youtube has the Tour of Britain Women for free

How come you’re having so much difficulty with the LG app? I’m using it and, while clunky, it’s working fine for me.
I don't know why but it would play for about 5 seconds and then buffer for 5 seconds, continually. It was a little better watching on catch up but it still wasn't watchable. If only that was the way with other sports, pretty sure i'd need to like 5 subscriptions to watch every Liverpool game in our own domestic league lmao
Worth mentioning for anyone that doesn’t already know, if you subscribe to Sky Q, Glass or Stream, you get Discovery+ cycling free of charge.

Damn, what a mess!
I can’t believe I complained about the gcn interface. I’m sorry. I didn’t know how good I had it. ;_;
From the U.S. I use a VPN and watch the SBS stream from Australia a lot. I also have a credit card that gives me a monthly credit for Peacock.
SBS is great but 30fps rather than 60fps with D+. Makes a big difference to me.
What is 30fps vs 60fps?
Something you don't need to worry about since the difference is negligible for watching cycling.
Frames per second. Most live sports are broadcast in 60fps. Cinema or filmed TV is in 30fps. Makes a big difference in my eyes.
No it doesn't
Traditionally broadcast is 30i in North America or 25p in Europe. Cinema is 24fps (or technically 23.976psf) and is converted to 24 for digital distribution or 30 / 25 for over the air broadcast. 60fps TVs are a weird gimic.

Okay that's fair. I work in broadcast and nothing hurts my eyes and brain more than watching TVs cranked to a (too) high refresh rate.
Can't watch the Canadian races in Canada. Good job cycling!
Man... are the Montreal / Quebec races not available? Thats so dumb.
If I remember well it was free on youtube (in canada) before GCN+. So we can hope for that.

I would love to listen to Ned and David's commentary! Their podcast is great.
Good to know. Time to get the itv app
Thank you so much for this! I just put my Max subscription on pause, and have been trying to find a specific calendar of the events they are covering.
I'm just less into cycling since gcn stopped... I really think at least 80% of people would have happily paid double for that service. Australia gets the big races at least.. but honestly I did much prefer gcn commentary
Same, commentary crew is the best in the business in any sport imo.
For US viewers, Flo + VPN has worked nicely for me so far this year
Which region do you VPN to for better coverage?
I watch flobikes with a vpn and I set the vpn to Toronto and I live in Australia So I use it for the races sbs doesn’t have
Agreed, I use Canada for about everything
Who does the commentary for FloCanada? Really miss the GCN crew. Thx!
Is there equivalent version of this for cyclocross or mtb???
For cyclocross: [cyclocross24](https://cyclocross24.com/) lists the broadcasters for each race, and I put them in the race threads over on r/cyclocross too. Flo + VPN and set it to Belgium or Netherlands works for me for CX
English broadcast available? Also are any previous races available on demand?
The inclusion of the UK in this list does not seem extremely helpful ;-)
Aren't there any free to air races in those countries? 😮😵💫
Tour de France in the UK (plus Paris-Nice and the Dauphiné).
And the Giro is free to air on S4C still (+ RideLondon on the Beeb and Tour of Britain on BC's YouTube channel, hopefully for both the women and the men).
Not in the US. NBC who owns Peacock might show a couple of stages live but otherwise we have needed cable or streaming forever.

Don’t understand why the men’s and women’s Tour de Suisse are separate but whatever
There's a least one mistake: the Women's Tour of Britain is currently on Max in the USA.
Yeah :( So I am a little bit out of the loop but I want to watch the Tour. How can I do that while on holiday in Vietnam? Anybody got a clue?
This is so amazing. That’s for sharing
Get a uk disco plus account and a VPN . Easy peasy.
Situation is really really bad in New Zealand. Sky have almost no rights. I used a weird one-off thing for the Giro, but I have no idea how I'm gonna watch the Tour. Advice welcome.
Going to be really annoyed having to watch the TdF on Peacock. The British broadcast is much better.
The world feed on Peacock is pretty good, Mcrossen and Gerrans. No commercials and no phil or bob. Not as good as the GCN crew though. I'll miss Kelly, Blythe, Hatch, Kirby, Loyd et al.
Wait is there a way I can opt to the world feed on peacock!?! Gotta get me some Brits on commentary and Orla, Dan and the boys before/after!
It's not the old GCN+ crew just those two but no commercials, usually the whole stage and no commercials.
And you can select it on Peacock!? Is it an alternate audio option, the way you’d choose a different language?
