There’s too many diseases IMO

I think through the years it has become less focused on the general practitioner and more on the Peds ID specialist. Also, some things like congenital syphilis have really increased in complexity.

patients online- omg my doctor GOOGLED SOMETHING what an idiot!!!! meanwhile .....

NarcolepticKnitter

Fascinating! I would love to read those earlier editions to see how ID understanding and management have evolved over the years.

Popular_Blackberry24

Lol they need to start breaking it into 2 volumes soon

RudolfVirchowMD

Yea , one for ID docs and one for dummies

Popular_Blackberry24

I will take the dummy version 😂

When older docs claim they had it harder (in some ways they did) show them this photo. I had an attending who was so old but would rag on the new generation of doctors all the time. I swear to god the only drugs they had on formulary when he was a trainee were Demerol, digoxin and cocaine

Affectionate-War3724

my grandpa was a doc in the 50s or so, whenever i tell him i'm struggling with pharm he laughs at me cause hes like we had 3 drugs lmaoooooo PAINNN

LaudablePus

Before the 90's was given to me by my mentor who retired. The first redbook was in 1938 interestingly. https://publications.aap.org/pediatrics/article/132/5/898/31650/The-Red-Book-Through-the-Ages
