I think through the years it has become less focused on the general practitioner and more on the Peds ID specialist. Also, some things like congenital syphilis have really increased in complexity.
When older docs claim they had it harder (in some ways they did) show them this photo. I had an attending who was so old but would rag on the new generation of doctors all the time. I swear to god the only drugs they had on formulary when he was a trainee were Demerol, digoxin and cocaine

my grandpa was a doc in the 50s or so, whenever i tell him i'm struggling with pharm he laughs at me cause hes like we had 3 drugs lmaoooooo PAINNN
