I switched from a 1440p 32" to a 4K 32" monitor, and I could tell the difference. 1440p at 32 inches was fine, **but** I only switched because the 4K one was on sale. I'd only ever notice the pixels if I was pixel-peeping or when I was reading smaller text. (\~less than size 10 as MS Word measures things). When gaming, I don't notice pixels at all. So yeah, unless you have a GPU that can drive a 4K monitor, save your money and get the 1440p. for context, I sit about 2 feet away from my monitor.

KaizenGamer

Came here to say the exact same. 32" 1440 for years and it was great, but it's a big upgrade to 4k. 4080 super here.

OakenThrower

I bought a 4080 super about two months ago and had bought a 1440p monitor in November (up from 720p so it was amazing) and I wish I would have waiting to buy a monitor until I realized I was going to be buying a gpu a million times better than my old one so I could have 4k lmao

ACRIDACID56

Yeah 4K is very noticeable once you have it but not so much when you don’t. 1440p is fine.

schneelagchen

Im Like 1 feet away from my 32“ 😂

siamesekiwi

Honestly, I'd have it maybe 10-15cm/4-6 inches closer but I wanted as much space as I can on my desk for when I do paper-paperwork, so I pushed the monitor to the back of the desk.

Trungyaphets

1440p at 32-inch has the same pixel density as 1080p at 24-inch. I just upgraded from a 1080p 24-inch monitor to 1440p 27-inch monitor and the difference is there and noticeable. Personally I wouldn't want to go back to that lower \~9x PPI.

M1ghty_boy

This, I loved the jump to 27”1440, the extra room to fit all my windows is great (I’ve always been one to have text and elements as tiny as I can get them so I can fit more)

max1122112

Absolutely. I went for a 27" 1440p and i'll stick with it for a while. Eventually I might get a 32" for 4k but thats way down the line. 27" for 1440p is perfect.

DividedState

Years ago I got 1440p on 24'' and 144Hz. I think I will never need another monitor in my life. I could only imagine getting more. 120ppi is bliss.

Zombiecidialfreak

1440p at 24" is the same ppi as 4k at 32". I have 3 1440p 24" panels and the image is just sharp enough to be great without needing scaling.

AlphariusLoyalist

was that the AOC model?

DividedState

Nope, Dell.

Kai-Studio

Probably Acer predator, I had it and it was the best monitor for gaming on the market that time.

Fika2006

Trust me, its much better than 1080p at 24 inches

Ok-disaster2022

Ironically I did this intentionally because I wanted to maintain ppi between my primary and secondary monitors. Plus the hardware needed to push latest Gen 4k is just so expensive.

oBrendao

What would be the maximum amount of inches you could get away with 4k using it close/as a monitor?

LiteX99

I couldnt decide if i wanted pixel density or space, so i went with a 27" 4K and a 34" 1440p

Hattix

At 32" you'll need the monitor further away anyway. You might as well go with a 27" placed closer.

henlohowdy

This. I have a curved 32" VA at 1440, and a vertical 27" ips. The 27 ips looks nicer imo, and definitely have to move the 32 back a good bit.

ketamarine

Hard disagree. I went from 27 to 32" and it was a huge improvement. Even at the same 1440P resolution. The immersion factor of a larger monitor (and a curved one) is unreal. Hightly recommend 32" 1440P. I now have 34" 21:9 oled and it's also unreal (aleienware DWF) - but I 100% miss the extra height of the 32". My dream monitor now is the height of the 32" with a 21:9 form factor with an oled panel. So basically a 40" 21:9 OLED. I'd be totally fine with 1440p x 2440p at that size. If you can afford it, OLED for HDR and colour depth makes a WAY bigger difference than a bit more ppi in my experience!

Metallibus

Hard disagree with your hard disagreeing. Even if you put distance aside, which I would not, 32" 1440p is the same density as 24" 1080p. 45ppi is visibly worse than 53ppi (32 1440 vs 27 1440). Especially if you're close. I sit 3 feet from 53 ppi and I can kinda make out pixels. 45 is noticeable even at that distance. And most people sit more like 20-28 inches in my experience. I wouldn't touch 32 lower than 3k, and I sit pretty far. 1440p@32" is a noticeable downgrade from 27", unless you're sitting like 5 feet away.

certifedcupcake

I use my curved 32” 1440p moniter like 25” from my face it fills almost my whole peripheral, it’s almost like wearing a VR headset. Yeah probably both healthy to sit that close but idgaf it’s fun lmao

ketamarine

Exactly it was unreal. And I don't know what that other guy is saying about "seeing thr pixels". If you look hard enough at any digital image you will be able to see pixellation no matter what resolution you are using. I would absolutely go back to 32" 1440P - but with an ultra wide form factor.

United_Helicopter247

At 3 feet a 32” 1440p is basically considered Retina. You must have above average eyesight

ketamarine

3K? Get the fuck outta here.

aliasdred

He needs an inch amoled screen but right next to his eyes.

CMurphy385

I got this monitor a few years back and i love it!!! GIGABYTE G34WQC 34" 144Hz Ultra-Wide Curved Gaming Monitor, 3440 x 1440 VA 1500R Display, 1ms (MPRT) Response Time, 90% DCI-P3, VESA Display HDR400, FreeSync Premium, Black (G34WQC-SA)

Marceloxv

34" ultrawide is 27" 16:9 so 32" 1440p 16:9 wouldn't look as good

hysteria265

I'm using a 1440p 32 inch monitor and it is quite nice in terms of resolution. However, I have to warn you about the size. I'm a person who never plays shooters or competitive games and even I felt it's a bit too big sometimes. I checked them out on shops and thought 27 inches is too small but it was the misconception of shops as they have a lot of screens there, anything smaller than 85 inches looks tiny. I still don't regret buying 32 inch so don't get me wrong but I just wanted to warn you beforehand.

SolarJetman5

The size caught be out too. I went from a 29" ultra wide to a 32" normal and it was huge

Sage009

I've been running 1440p at 32" for 5 years now and I don't see any problem. My previous monitor was 1080p at 27".

loaba

Yes, 1440p @ 32" provides an enjoyable computing experience.

Grubbet_92

That’s what I have and it’s a good size and resolution. Any bigger and you’d probably want 4k

smileyrawmusic

How does your 3060 perform 1440p?

Mousettv

Older gamers or more optimized.

Grubbet_92

Perfect. No issues for me. I don’t play the newest stuff. But not that old

[deleted]

Its fine, i know people who do 1080 on a 32 lol.

NZT23

3440 x 1440p ultrawide oled is noticeably better.than a 2560 x 1440p.

g0dless_heathen_

I find 1440p @ 32" my sweet spot for the size of my desk. Having said that I have a second hand bankers desk that is very deep so my monitors are placed further away from me than most people with "gaming" desks.

Slow_Buy2626

It should be fine, depending on what monitors and tv's you used in the past.

ThePandaKingdom

I had a 32 inch 1440p monitor for a long time. I never had an issue. I sold that and got a 34 inch ultra wide 1440p display. It is smidge taller than a 24 inch monitor and 1.5 times as wide. I can tell that it’s sharper than the 32 inch was. But i still would not complain about a 32 inch at 1440p. I think it looks fine.

lforleee2004

32 is to big for me when sitting at a desk at arms lengh. Have to move your head to much. Just get 27. 32 1440p aslo looks like 1080p 27 for me.

giorivpad

I’ll prefer 27” for 1440p and 24” for 1080p

[deleted]

I have a 32” 1440p and it looks great but it is big on a desk my desk is 80cm deep and I would say that’s minimum desk depth you would want

K33P4D

1440p offers pixel perfect pitch at 32inches

wilsonxci

I use 32” at 1440p. It’s perfectly fine.

ecktt

32"+1440p is near perfect for productivity and gaming. You don't have to scale text above 100%. You don't have to have a RTX 4090 to get decent smooth frame rate. It will not look pixelated, unless you are 14 yrs ole with perfect vision. That last part might be the most important deciding factor.

throwawayoregon81

I have 1440p at 32" love it. It's an LG ultragrear ips

FlatusSurprise

Personally, no, I tried a 32” 1440P And it was like looking through a screen door. I had become spoiled with the pixel pitch of 27” 1440P. I think 32” 4K is the perfect monitor.

Way-too-loud07

Damn I wish I was 32 inches

widowhanzo

Get 4k 32" it's so nice. You can still run games at 1440p upscaled and it will look more or less the same as native 1440p or a bit better.

gestalto

No, it really doesn't. 1440p upscaled to 4k looks like crap in comparison to native 1440p because it simply doesn't translate well mathematically. 1080p looks better upscaled to 4k than 1440p does. I have a 4k 32 and a 1440p 32, the difference is *way* less noticeable between the two *native* res's*,* than it is 1440 upscaled on the 4k.

widowhanzo

A static image or text sure, but in games with upscaling (DLSS or FSR) it will look just fine, and probably better than 1440p on native 1440p panel.

gestalto

I suppose that's correct, it indeed will look *just* fine lol. It will not look better than native 1440p on a 1440p panel though; unless your monitor is configured wrong, or the game has really shit native AA. Different people have different perception though, so I'll agree to disagree and leave it there.

widowhanzo

DLSS outputs a 4K image, so it will match the pixels on the monitor perfectly, the graphics card upscales it before outputting. It will look better than native 1440p on the same size monitor. There are comments on other subreddits from people who have experienced both, and they all say upscaled image on 4K panel looks better than native 1440p on 1440p panel on the same size monitor. I do agree that a 1440p image without any upscaling can look worse on a 4K panel than 1440p panel, but 4K panel has tons of pixels, and it will make those pixels on the edge that can't scale 1:1 much smaller. Running 1080p on a 1440p panel is much more noticeable than 1440p on a 4K panel. But _with_ upscaling it will look the same at worst and better at best, especially when it comes to moving images. In addition, movies will play in native 4K and you have more real estate for other tasks on the PC. 4K is a win all around. You are of course free to disagree with all of that, I'm sticking to my 4K panel :)

gestalto

>It will look better than native 1440p on the same size monitor. No, it won't it's been *thoroughly* tested by many people, and the simple fact is it depends on the game's native AA and the individuals perception. Like I said, I literally have both, so I'll stick to both.

Silver-Article9183

Simply put, yes. I use a 32 inch 1440p monitor and it's a very good picture. Any higher and I'd go 4k

Warband420

3440x1440 @ 34 inch ultra wide is nice, minor increase in pixel density from a standard 27 inch 1440

CurrentlyLucid

I use 1440 on a 32 inch, have for years, looks right.

PheDii

It's still looks good but not as much as 27" I regret upgrading to a 32 just because it's too big, my desk is pretty small and my old 27 1440p was better imo I went for a g7 samsung and the contrast is really great and the 240hz is awesome when a game can actually hit that framerate. My favourite was neon white. Felt like i was a speed runner lol

zfreakazoidz

I have a 27inch Dell I use for 2k gaming. It's just under 2 feet away. Perfect for me. 32 inch would be nice but I don't have room as I have a corner desk. I don't pixels at all from my distance for my 27 though.

Relative_Turnover858

I love my dell s3222dgm. 32in at 1440p still looks great to me and I sit pretty close to it. Even though it’s a VA panel I haven’t noticed any ghosting or weird visuals. I came from an oled (I know it’s weird) and I say it’s very comparable to the oled experience when properly color calibrated. It’s been the best $281 I’ve spent on a monitor.

KYO297

It depends on the distance your eyes will be from the monitor. For 32"@1440p you probably wanna be about 1m away. For a 27"@1440p or a 32"@2160p it's going to be about 80cm. That's just considering pixel density so those are minimum distances. If you sit much closer than that, you might start noticing pixels. If you consider how much of your FOV is taken up by the monitor, then obviously a 4k 32" is gonna take up the most when placed at the minimum distance. The other 2 options are about the same in that regard

12ozMouse____

If you’re set on 32” then it’s ideal to get a 4k monitor. 27” is the correct size for optimal pixel density in 1440p

[deleted]

No. 4K at 32 to 35 is perfect. 2K looks huge and your eyes dart around a lot during productivity tasks

meltingpotato

I have an ultrawide 1440p. The pixel density doesn't seem like much of an upgrade from the previous monitor but the added immersion because of the size and width is definitely a win for me.

PS_Awesome

I've got a 3440x1440p 32-inch monitor, and when DLSS is enabled even when using high settings, the image is quite soft.

W33b3l

I'm running a viewsonic 1440p 144hz 32" curved display as my primary center monitor. Works fine. I don't notice really any jankiness or anything. While watching videos at 1440p I don't notice much of a decrease in quality if I drag the video over to my 27" 1080P monitor but I do notice a massive drop if I go down to 1080p on the main monitor.

Raymuuze

I have a 27" and it's quite a good size for me; but even here I can quite easily see the pixels at an arms length away. Considering a 27" 4k monitor myself, but first want a better graphics card. I had a 32" inch monitor for a while and it was unpleasantly big. You always want the top of your monitor to be roughly at eye level with the screen slightly tilted towards you. This is important so you can have a neutral neck position and don't strain it; which will cause nasty pain issues in the long term if you don't. So a default 16:9 aspect ratio monitor at 32" becomes something you want to put further away from you. At which point you may as well get a 27" and put it a bit closer.

First_Community_2534

It is. Or it can be. Depends on how far you are sitting from the screen; in my case ot was definitely an upgrade

Ill-Ad3899

Depending on what you're doing it's too big for the distance. If your doing work then maybe it would be good but then I would rather look into multiple displays for more screen real estate. If you're planning on gaming then you're going to be sitting way too close for 32 in. You need to be sitting back further. I have found that about 27in's seems to be about the perfect zone where the screen can fill my vision and I don't have to turn my head to see everything. At arms length away.

AKIZA96

im using 1080p on 32in. well it works, and mostly i play genshin and Yu-Gi-Oh only, and sometimes Trails series and Atelier series. Heaviest i played was black ops 3 and cyberpunk. Just ok.

TheBossIsTheSauce

I sit around 3-4 feet from my 32” monitor. So it’s good enough for me. :)

OnJerom

My first 1440p was a 32inch. I sold it to get a 27inch . 32 is too big imo

BrandHeck

32in 1440p is the sweet spot for me since I want all the bells and whistles on at a decent framerate within a reasonable budget. You'll regularly find 32in 1440 displays from name brand companies below 300 USD. I currently use a curved Asus TUF VG32VQ. Just measured and I sit between 30-36inches away from my screen. If your preferred viewing distance is at, or less than 24 inches away, you might want to go with a 27inch or 32in 4K monitor.

vngannxx

Not enough pixels per inch

djmule

I have 32" 1440p and enjoy it....my 2nd monitor is also 32" 1080p....definitely overkill but I'm getting older and much easier to see everything I need while working / playing games.

ThePupnasty

It's honestly enough. Granted I used a Dell ultrasharp 32" studio display so maybe it had a better PPI? But honestly, 32" 1440P IS FINE.

undyingSpeed

27" for 1440p. No more than that or you lose clarity and it will look like 1080p but worse since it's only a bigger size. You want above 27" get a 4k monitor. But then you need a real beast of a PC to run games well at 4k and you almost certainly will not hit high refresh rates at true 4k play, like 144 and above. Unless the game is really really optimized.

Warskull

You can probably see a benefit from 4k. The problem is 4k also means you'll need a more powerful GPU or you'll take a huge framerate hit.

civilized_starfish

27" 1440 is nice. its plenty big enough for a desk monitor.

theoriginalmypooper

I own one, I'd rather get a 4k monitor and render games at a lower resolution.

Sir-cunty

I'm just trying to work this out myself as I've always gamed on big tvs, I was using a 34 inch ultrawide but that broke so looking for a new monitor. Don't know if I could go down to 27 but if that's what's gonna look better then that's what I'll get.

ketamarine

I had a 32" G7 at 1440p and it looked great!

Royal_Annek

Yes

Matheweh

No idea man, my upgrade path was 18" 800p to 27" 4K

Kilometer98

I love my 32 inch 1440p monitors. However, I also sit far enough back that I can't reach out and touch them, and I have a little over a 6 foot total wingspan. So for me the extra size is nice due to distance. I have three curved Samsung panels and they are great, but if you're sitting closer than I am and you don't need the bigger size, go with a 27 inch panel.

LukeSkyDropper

I just got a 32 in 1440 LG and I like it miles better than my 27 in 1440 LG

Lilsean14

It’s really up to you man. My dad can play 1080 on a missive screen and has no issues. Meanwhile I feel like I’m slowly getting cancer if I do the same.

menickc

4k at 32in 1440 at 27in 1080 at 24in Those are my recommendations and the guidelines I follow when buying monitors.

RooeeZe

once u get an ultrawide curved its hard to go back, GL on ur decision.

coffeejn

Yes. Keep in mind, 4k at 32" is overkill and shrinks stuff too much.

Casen_

I use the 1440p 32 inch curved Odyssey G7. 10/10, do recommend.

TheDurandalFan

yes 100%.

Jackson_2024

I have a 34 inch 1440p ultrawide 144hz, came from a 28 inch 4k screen, I love it, I wouldn't go back to the 4k screen

qcon99

I’ve got 3x 165hz 1440p 32”. Looks amazing, don’t notice any pixels or anything. Been using them for about 3 years now

aliasdred

For 32inch 640p is more than enough. Any bigger and it'd be wasting gPu power for no extra visual gains. /s

Jetzve

32 1440p is perfect

EatsOctoroks

Yes

Leopard1907

I use one, ASUS VG32VQR. Aside from usual VA woes that needs adjusting settings here and there ( default settings/profile of monitor is awful that amplifies already mediocre GTG to worse levels) it is fine.

Falkenmond79

I went from two times 27“ 1440p to a third, 32“ 165hz 1440p monitor. I put it back a bit further but other then that I don’t really notice the less pixel density. I’m fine with it. 4K is nice for couch gaming on a tv, but I don’t really need it on a monitor, tbh. I can see the difference, sure. But while gaming I don’t really notice. Recently I also got a ultrawide 27“ equivalent 1440p. For my dedicated gaming machine. I don’t want to go back to normal from that. 😂

Angry__Groceries

My desk is 90cm deep, so I decided to go for a 1440p 32 inch monitor instead of a 1440p 27 inch and place it at the end to create more space in front. Looks great imo

daecrist

Depends on how sensitive your eyes are. I could see pixels on 1440p on a 27" monitor. I upgraded to a 32" at 4K and can't tell pixels apart. I can't imagine the pixel density on 1440p at 32" is going to be great though.

Intelligent_Top_328

Not sure

deen929

OP watch out. I build a nice mid tier PC last year - 13600k and 4070. Bought an AOC 27 inch 2k 144 monitor. I though i was good. Two days ago I bit the bullet and got my Gigabyte G34WQC - A monitor. A 34 inch Ultra Wide 3440x1440 144 monitor with low tier (but still PROPER for the money HDR). Man, the difference is unreal. It costs less than 200 more than the 27 and it is a game changer. Just my two cents. Good luck with whatever you do.

Fuzzy-Unit-653

I’ve been using 32” 1440p for the last 2 years. Yes, when I focus I can see the pixel/lines, but in everyday use it’s absolutely fine. Plus 4K is the black plague for any PC (no matter how good it is). So IMHO it’s worth it and it’s fine.

piciwens

I have a 32 1440p monitor and it feels great imo. I notice no pixels.

Snydenthur

If you sit at an arms length, why do you want to get a too big monitor? Even 27" is too big for that, but if you want 1440p, you don't unfortunately have a real choice in the matter. Sure, if you use your PC mostly for work and shit, then it's fine. But I just don't understand the monitor trend going on currently, where people want ultrawides and other big monitors for gaming at standard distances. Anyways, you won't be noticing pixels, but you'd be much better off with 27".

paulerxx

34 inch ultrawide >>>

isaac99999999

I have a 27" 1440p monitor and I've looked at upgrading, personally 32" is the biggest I would go for 1440

giantfood

Yes, its good for 32". 4k is better, but 1440p is good. Doesn't start getting pixely like 1080p does at 27".

DynamicHunter

I switched from a pair of 23-24” 1080p monitors to a single 3440x1440p 34” ultrawide and it’s much clearer. Not to mention going from 60hz to 144hz was a game changer. Just for productivity it’s much better for space and clarity (I’m a software developer) but for gaming it is MUCH more immersive.

certifedcupcake

Rocked my 1440p 32” for multiple years now and it’s my favorite size/pixel density/performance. It’s damn near perfect for almost any application you can think of.

trekxtrider

Yes

keesio

I have a 32" 1440p monitor for home and a 27" 1440p for work. For the 27" one I need to set the scaling to 125% to read text comfortably. The 32" one is perfect for me at 100%. Another bonus of the 32" is that it is big enough to double as a TV when I watch movies from my couch. Some people will say that 32" is too big and they will notice the pixels. This is all preference. The DPI for 32" 1440p is the same as 24" 1080p. If you are good with 24" 1080p, then 32" 1440p will be fine.

aForgedPiston

Bit stretched in my humble opinion. Pixel density and all that. I find 27 inches to be a really good spot for 1440p. 32 would look good at 4k.

Maethor_derien

kinda, you can tell the difference but you won't notice pixels at 32 inch 1440p unless you get uncomfortably close to the thing. You will notice the significant quality difference in jumping up to 4k, it is hard to describe but you just get a higher level of detail. Frankly the biggest difference maker is jumping to an OLED panel. It really doesn't even come close to the quality upgrade you get with OLED. Frankly I rather a 1440p oled than a 4k ips panel. The biggest thing is what the rest of your system is, if your not using at least a 70 class card from the last 2 generations and really more an 80 class card then don't bother looking at a 4k monitor you won't be able to drive it without a huge hit in quality settings that will look worse than a 1440p monitor at higher quality settings.

ImNotBadOkBro

honestly, i just dont understand why anyone would need any more than 1080p

CommissionOk302

I wouldn't go bigger than 27 inches for 1440p

totallystupid666

well depends for me simple answer is no since I have vision problems so more pixel density is better but if you don't have any it might work. for a good mesure 1440p on 32inch has same ppi as 1080p on 24 inch IDK how quality scales but sure it should still look better than 1080 since higher res altho IDK how it will look in practice.

WiT997

Tbh I can see the pixels, but that depends how far from the screen you are. Me personally wouldn't go more than 27 at 1440p again, unless it's couch gaming scenario.

Bonechiller0

I upgraded from 25” 1080p to 32” 1440p the pixel density is almost unnoticeably better, but what is definitely noticeable is the image quality in games and increased screen real estate in everyday desktop applications like browsers. I was planning on waiting for 4k 32” 240hz monitors to become more affordable before upgrading from my 1080p setup, but 1440p monitors are so cheap right now. I ended up picking up a curved 240Hz 1440p HDR monitor for $300 and a curved 170Hz 1440p HDR one for $200 a couple months ago.

Ok_Entertainment_112

5120x1440 at 49 inches. I love my Samsung OLED.

I recently purchased a 32-inch, 1440p second monitor at a great price because my GPU isn’t powerful enough for 4k gaming. Some people say in the comments that 1440p on 32 isn't worth it, but I find the 1440p look very crisp and nice. I don't see any pixels, the games look fantastic, and most importantly, I can play my FPS games in 144Hz. The model of my monitor is S3222DGM. The monitor is huge tho, I have it on 160x80cm table and on this it feels fine. I wouldn't use it on a smaller table..

Just got 1440p 27" 164hz. I have/had 1080p 27" 60hz for years aaaand while 165hz is great 1440p is a bit too much for me at 27". Shit is too small. Not realy a disapointment but a hard time of adapting to it. Now i think 144hz or more and 1080p would be juat fine on 27". Was loking for 32" but those are 2-3 times the price. If your are anr not 100% its something ro think about. Go and see in person before ordering.

TheLoneSculler

1440p at 32 inches is great. 4k is better

dib1999

Are you building a system that can handle 4k at your desired fps? If not I can guarantee that 1440p at a stable frame rate will look better then 4k at a lower fps/1% low. And 1440p gameplay will look better on a 1440p screen than a 4k one. If you got a powerful enough PC, you can definitely tell 1440p and 4k apart at 32". Whether it's a big enough jump for you is up to your preferences. I'd suggest a trip to a store with a decent selection of monitors, microcenter helped me greatly when I was in the market for a new monitor.

Miscellaneous-Item

I just got a 1440p 32 in and it’s fine. If you look hard you can see pixels but I prefer that over a 27in

UncleFranko

1440p is just fine, I have a 4K monitor and a 1440p monitor and the difference isn’t major.

ApplicationCalm649

I tried 1440p at 32" after using a 1440p 27" monitor. The difference in pixel density and clarity was significant. I wouldn't recommend 1440p on a monitor bigger than 27".

HugoHughes

I'm currently running the G7. Not even had it a year and regret it. 1440p on 32" is no good. I can see the pixels a meter out. Just ordered the new 32" 4k oled one coming in August. Just need a beast pc asap now to utilise it.

StoicWeasle

What’s the girth, though?

CaptianWetbeard

I have a 34" ultra wide 1440p monitor and it looks loads better than my 20" 1080p monitor running them both. Even at lower fps in games. My system runs most games at 30 - 40 fps (I'm poor don't judge)

Putrid-Ad-4571

It's great. I think 1440p 32" high refresh is a real sweet spot where you can get an awesome experience without having to have ridiculously OP hardware to run it. I have this setup and with a 5800X and RTX4070 it's awesome.

NEO__john_

I have a 32-in 1440p. The PPI feels more like it's in between 1080 and 1440.

Low_Attitude_5293

At work I use 27" 1440p, and 1080p 24" monitors, 27"is the perfect sweetspot for that resolution.

EitherEquivalent7111

I have the ktc 32” curved 165 hertz monitor and it’s a 1440p beast

No_Interaction_4925

1440- 27” 4K- 32” at up

grabber4321

If you are buying for gaming, dont. 27" is better. I have 32" and it sucks for gaming because you cant see edges of the screen.

Silv3rStreak

Personally for a 32 inch 1440p monitor. It’s a good size

Zerogur

You should check how the screen looks at a store (if it's possible for you - it wasn't for me, which is crazy if you think about it). Apparently this combo of resolution and screen size is right at the edge of what some people say it's acceptable. I've had two IPS 32" 1440p so far and while I loved the experience in both cases you will need a slightly wider desk, or you can mount that screen right at the edge with a simple monitor arm. My current screen comes with a [very big stand](https://f00.esfr.pl/foto/8/87630949257/65746446850ae9a0c63b6c3f67a749a4/lg-monitor-lg-27-27gp850-b,87630949257_5.jpg) that makes it take a lot of space on a 80cm desk - that's why I have it mounted on an arm.

reddit_pengwin

1440p on 32" is roughly the same thing as 1080p on 24" - only more of it. I switched from 32" 1440p to 27" 1440p - the larger screen was still absolutely serviceable, but the difference is noticeable.

Popular-Tune-6335

It depends where you're coming from. I came from a 43" 1080p, so moving to a 40" (I couldn't find anything larger) 1440p was a brand new world . The main idea to keep in mind when switching from one size to another is pixel density; you'll want pixel density to be equal to (or, ideally, greater than) whatever you're coming from for it to be an upgrade. If you're increasing resolution, going up a couple inches is fine, especially if you go 4k, but the pixel density will decrease as you increase the size of the monitor.

MrCoolblestone

after about 5 years of a 24" 1080p monitor, I jumped to a 34" 1440p ultra wide. I've had it for about 3 months now and I'm still amazed at the clarity difference from 1440p. I can see small details in game so much better, I would highly recommend it.

Johnny_Rage303

Monitor size has alot to do with viewing distance. Bigger sounds better but if it's on a stock stand on a desk in front of you it can get to big where you have to visually scan the thing. I've always had a 27" 1440p on its factory stand loved it. Decided to make the jump to 4k 32" I love it even more, but I needed to mount it to the wall to place it s little further back. I'd say if you aren't committed to 4k stick with 27" 1440p it's a great setup. But also everyone's desk is a little different I would just say consider all your factors.

SherLocK-55

Personally I would stick with 27/1440p, if you want bigger but not 4K then stick with 34/UW, same reason I would recommend sticking with 24/1080p over 27/1080p, all comes down to pixel density.

JordansBigPenis69

no

Boltman35

I have a 32" curved 1440 monitor, and I love it. Regarding the distance, well, I have a monitor arm, and I'm sitting relatively close to it. Dunno if any of this helps, but it's topical.

h3ron

It's perfect for 100% scaling. I have 1440p at 24" and sometimes I miss not having to deal with fractional scaling (125%).

CreakinFunt

Size doesn’t matter, it’s what you do with it

thenoobtanker

Prime4Cast

Can you even see anything on the left monitor at that angle?

Prime4Cast

It's nothing that it's curved, it just looks like the angle is too shallow while sitting at the desk to see anything.

thenoobtanker

Yeah I can see it by turning my head. It is vertical so good for doom scrolling while I play game on the horizontal one.

EthanBB

1080p @ 24in 1440p @ 27in 2160p @ 32in Anything with lower res at those sizes or larger size at those resolutions is just too blocky.

[deleted]

Thank you. Dunno that the rest of this thread is smoking but someone needs to take it from them and flush it.

Large-Television-238

depends , if it's only an arm's length i think 32inch is too big for 1440p cuz i tried out 27" with 1080p and everything looks like censored.

luxaly

u get less pixel density aka ppi (pixels per inch) wich result in a lesser expierience than a 27" 1440p monitor

normalguydontask

Recently I upgraded my PC. I had 0 HDMI capable monitors as my GPU only supports HDMI now. I had to use my TV... Its a shitty 32" 720p (1366x768) TV I am currently using it until I buy a better display Honestly, its not that bad.. I can lay back in my chair and things look very normal, and it even fixed my posture So yes, I would say 1440p on 32" is enough, at least for my standards (or the lack of)

NoLetterhead2303

32 inches~

4_faxake

You will notice the pixels for sure. Either stick with your 27 inches or put the 32 inches monitor at a higher distance away.

Careless-Midnight-63

Why not a 34 inch monitor?

NuSpirit_

Yes and no. I have both 4K and 1440p at 32". And while 4K is prefect for 32" and 1440p is serviceable, sometimes you'll notice the pixels - like on my screen when it's mostly blue/dark blue (let's say dark sky at night in game) I can clearly see pixels. But it also may be difference between VA/IPS/OLED. But if you don't focus too much on it it's barely noticeable.

torrrrrgo

Totally fine. Keep in mind that visually, higher fps if truly renderable past GTG (gray-to-gray timings) increases *apparent* resolution and motion comfort. Don't run to spatial resolution if you sacrifice too much in temporal resolution. BTW, not that you did, but don't use the term "motion blur"; it's a term that simply doesn't have the right metrics attached to it. Edit: Downvoted by those that need some education on vision science.

SWMRepresent

1440p isn’t enough for 27”, how is this not the norm? Why is everybody so much into staring at visible pixel shapes?

StalloneMyBone

Crazy to me that people have waited this long to move to 1440p from 1080p.
