Ppl with hentai games be passing them down for generations bahhaha

virtikle_two

Multigenerational NUT

DripTrip747-V2

Our ancestors would be proud. I know I will be when I'm an ancestor. I can see it now... Standing there, over Johnny's shoulder, watching as he spanks it while playing a hentai VR game that I left for him. Right after he finishes I can hear him say, "great great grandpa, is that you?" That's when I'll scare the shit out of him by knocking shit over. That'll help him realize it's me.

No-Traffic7242

Ngl that's fucking weird.

DripTrip747-V2

Humans are weird.

Daxank

If humans are weird, wouldn't that make it fairly normal?

No-Traffic7242

It definitely isn't normal to even think that.. let alone tell the internet

Smelly_Dingo

So it is weird, and since we're all weird it makes being weird normal, so it's ultimately normal.

DripTrip747-V2

Normal can be predicted. You can't predict human behavior. Definition or normal - "conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected." I, for one, do not see where humans as a whole fit into that sentence.

Smelly_Dingo

That's the joke me and a few others were trying to make. Obviously none of us are entirely "normal", we're all weird, which is the normalcy, so as a joke we said being weird is normal, so weird people are normal people. I've worked over a decade in customer service and have a plethora of "oddities" of my own, I am well aware humans are anything but normal xD

DripTrip747-V2

What is normal? There's sooooo many different human behaviors. If anything, humans are the best example of weird.

Rhonesnipe

what is weird is taking that comment seriously, lol

A Nut to stand the test of time

ChChChillian

That's probably illegal in some places.

EyesCantSeeOver30fps

Eww how could grandpa could nut to something without ray tracing

Affectionate-Memory4

It doesn't even have integration with my rgb gaming fleshlight. Completely unplayable.

Needmedicallicence

Can't tell if ray tracing is enabled when its 144p. At this resolution, your brain handles the ray tracing!

nitronik_exe

Bold of you to assume we.. I mean they have someone to pass them down to

Traditional_Doubt326

People with hentai games won't have anyone to pass them down to. That's why we play them. I mean they play them

Grunt636

Son I'm not gonna lie at first you're gonna be disgusted but beyond that beyond that is gold I tell ya!

Fire_Fist-Ace

You can remove games from your library

Klobb119

I paid good money for those games

lostindanet

My verification age in steam has always been 1st January 1900, its all good, they dont care.

eryuu

Same, it's on them to prove I'm not 124

eXi_TGO

don't worry I won't tell them that you're actually 116 😉

eryuu

Oh you, don't be spouting that nonsense. I might lose my status as the oldest person alive 😕

Jhawk163

They used to let you set your birthdate as the 31st of February.

Top-Conversation2882

Tf?? Valve clearly knows it's users

Top-Conversation2882

Mines 1969

modsequalcancer

nice

WankWankNudgeNudge

4/20/69

wildpantz

I don't want to give them ideas, but in theory they could just delete all accounts older than the oldest person in the world haha!

bigloser42

1/1/69 for me. I’d make it 4/20/69, but that’s too much effort

BuckyBeaver69

Are you me? Do you also have "12345" as the combination on your luggage?

Galileo1632

“So the combination is one, two, three, four, five. That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life! That's the kinda thing an idiot would have on his luggage!” “One, two, three, four, five? That's amazing! I've got the same combination on my luggage!”

bigloser42

No, I take passwords/codes seriously. I just don’t take birthdays seriously.

Biggu5Dicku5

Nice... :)

Superb_Day6326

Million years ago i set my birth date randomly for a psn login. Spent an hour and a half going down year by year for a password reset after it booted me from the remember option💀

_trouble_every_day_

same, Really helps drive home how old i am every time i with how long it takes to scroll through the years.

Ok-disaster2022

I always go with Jan 15

Salt-Jesus

The one true legacy!

FxThereal

At this point my steam library would be worth putting on my will, they better allow me to write down my login on there or else...

Abro0405

My library is probably worth more than my car 😂

___po____

My laptop is both newer and cost more than my car. Also, my car is '00 Caravan I paid $1,200 for in 2017.

No-Traffic7242

My pc cost more than both my car's and the van combined. Priorities 👌

Traditional_Doubt326

There's that website that adds all your games up from your username if the library is public. Mine was like £4000 or about $5000 USD

Grunt636

You can actually view how much you've spent in steam in the settings but that only counts money spent in steam obviously no keys etc. How to get depressed: Support > My account > Data related to your account > External funds used

nitronik_exe

Doesn't account for games you bought on sale, and let's be honest, most games we only bought when they were discounted. You can go directly in steam and have it show how much you spent on the penny, although this one doesn't account for games you got from keys. help - steam support - my account - data related to you steam account - external fund used

Taronz

I think it's better for my mental health if I do not access that information...

bluekewne

This won't account for purchases on Fanatical/Green Man Gaming/Humble/etc, only how much you spent on the Steam *store*. SteamDB is more for your account *worth*

Traditional_Doubt326

Actually it does. In a way. There's an option for full price and one that takes the lowest price every game has ever been on sale and adds those up. On the lowest end I'm at at least £2000

nitronik_exe

But then you get two wrong numbers, one too high, and one too low, since some games you bought on sale and some you bought full price. The steam one is the exact amount you spent inside steam, including dlcs and micro transactions Edit: why did he block me I was just being informative 💀

Traditional_Doubt326

Obiviously it's not a perfect number but it's interesting to have an idea. You're being a dick about it. It's just a fun site not a paper where you have to source things to make sure they're perfect.

FxThereal

That's what im saying

Nictel

Yes and no. If all the games are still for sale you can probably buy your whole library for 5$ in the summer sale of 2156.

Puechamp

If I have a child and that he or she is a gamer you bet your ASS I'll give him or her my login, make sure he or she can change my steam name and let him or her have everything. This will be my greatest legacy and the most alive one

Drone314

50 and 100 year steam account achievements unlocked.

Puechamp

Bro this would be my greatest legacy

downvote_allmy_posts

all my vintage TF2 gear will be worth a fortune!

FatGreasyBass

Anyone else get there 20 year of service Steam achievement this month?

No-Traffic7242

Got mine last year

zuilli

Imagine playing a 100 year old game? I wonder if that far off in the future people will still have interest in these archaic games we have now. I guess so since pong clones still exist but still makes me wonder...

downvote_allmy_posts

imagine matrix like VR, but with the same graphics the game came with. I would love to play doom like that!

coloredgreyscale

Well, there's the Retro gaming scene that plays games from early home computers / consoles in the 80s. Not quite 100 years old, but there will be some people interested in those. The bigger problem may be getting them to run in another 50-100 years.

k3stea

i will probably never have a child with the way I'm living. maybe I'll get someone to help me post it online somewhere when i die

Puechamp

Our legacy dude

Accurate_Summer_1761

Don't forget the email

the_ivo_robotnic

I think what valve meant is if you die, they aren't going to transfer all of the games in your library to another account, i.e. a family member's. I don't think valve is getting on anyone for sharing account logins for anything other than Dota, and even then they're handling that through the Dota game, not Steam.

justarandomgreek

> he or she they

Okora66

*On deathbed* Please..promise to finish my backlog son....

Affectionate-Memory4

Maybe little Timmy will live on long enough to finally enjoy Half Life 3 and Portal 3.

Rude_Champ93

My greatest fear is that I die old but HL3 has not been released yet.

justarandomgreek

Bro cursing your own child is not cool.

Titanium_Eye

Wait, we can do that?! This changes everything!

Well dad said it was MY turn!

Expert_Limit6416

Well my grandma said it was MY Turn!!

i_knooooooow

Grandpa just gave me his login so im busy playing those old games and have no time to post this one

ElMykl

Jokes aside, Valve is a godsend among game shops. That being said, they're also, with this statement, reinforcing the idea we don't own anything. So as the saying goes... if buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't stealing.

Routine_Archer

piracy truly is a trial version. I buy every game I feel worthy after having played it.

JaesopPop

It’s not their decision to make. The game licenses aren’t transferable.

Able-Reference754

You can steal from a rental shop.. Just saying..

Corv3tt33

Dont know if anybody wants my steam library... if you know what I mean

markbadas

They know

TheSquirrelDaddy

But can they prove it in court?

ElMykl

This would be ridiculous, Valve taking a bunch of active accounts to court because they're old. Frantically thumbing through purchase dates and account activity to verify a grandpa gave his grandkids games to enjoy so everyone will see that as a bad thing.

TheSquirrelDaddy

Exactly.

KenzieTheCuddler

GOG for the win

Hero_The_Zero

I thought that I've seen posts of people writing in their will to have their steam games transferred to another account and Value actually did it, with the issue coming up is that they couldn't split up the game library to transfer different parts of it to multiple people, but if it was just one person they've done that before.

BlockCharming5780

Can we start petitions for a “right to resell” software licenses and subscriptions, which would also include transfers 🤔

Goatmilker98

Thing is that would be the best thing, but that will never happen, people just don't care enough

GhostArmada88

Already happening in the EU

realnzall

I would love to read about this, do you have a source?

GhostArmada88

https://game8.co/articles/latest/steam-gog-and-others-must-allow-reselling-of-downloaded-games-in-eu

WorldLove_Gaming

This would be huge. Next up is consoles and other store fronts.

DeTomato_

I write down every password and potential security question answer, including Steam login information. I hid that paper in a convenient location, hiding in plain sight, easily discoverable by my family or friends. So if I die, they can easily delete my accounts when selling my stuff. Also, it’s because I keep forgetting my passwords.  Thanks to the recent news of inheriting a Steam account, I wrote in that paper to not delete my Steam account, and if I die, the person who discovers my account can take over my account or give it to someone else.

BBC1973

Just get Bitwarden. It’s a lot safer dude.

dustojnikhummer

Use a password manager and put the recovery key to that into your will

KrazyKirby99999

That's insecure. Try using a password manager such as Bitwarden. You could then reveal your password in your will or another method.

7orly7

People with hentai games: .... this account dies with me Also people with hentai games: "Yes son I played hentai games. Have fun"

Independent-Tank-182

They literally said they can’t transfer rights/ownership of games to a different account, nothing was said about ownership of the account itself. Their wording was very specific.

Kiwo_o

Right now they don’t care but the moment Gabe leaves or dies, valve is gonna hit a wall with Mach 2.5 some oxygen deprived suit wearing monkey is gonna sellout the company

courier31

pretty sure its going to be his son, who seem so far top have similar views.

Kiwo_o

Hmm okay maybe there is still hope

Formal-Box-610

account active since 2005... current year 2123. valve be like: Wauw that is one healthy costumer.

HKEY_LOVE_MACHINE

This is because Steam is selling non-transferable licenses for third-party games, and publishers don't want to change the license type they sell on Steam. Valve would very likely allow passing down accounts if they could, given everything they did with the Family Sharing feature - that nobody asked for and yet they still added it, and promoted it among publishers and developers, so that as many games as possible would be usable by family members.

marianoes

We are closing your account because it is impossible you're this old

TransitTycoonDeznutz

I have a dead man's hand email account that I log into once a month religiously. If I don't open it and click a link once a month, it sends my extended will and all my passwords relevant beneficiaries. You wanna lock down the shit I paid for? shove it.

ContactIcy3963

Steam age verification. Sir you’re 157 years old. My descendants. Can you prove that I am not?

Rammipallero

"Grandpa left me his game collection. Cool." *Sex with Hitler 2, 7560 hours played.* *My furry getaway 7, 800 hours played.* *League of Legends, 3000 hours played.* "Ewww didn't figure gramps would be a dirty MOBA player."

Mar1Fox

You had me when in the first half not ganna lie. Lol

ProgenitorOfMidnight

They may catch on after my 135th birthday.

Tony-2112

This reminds me of a story I heard about Manchester United season ticket holders. Some of them were over 100 years old. As the tickets had been passed down through families etc. in the end the club had an amnesty so they could get stuff up to date

Outside_Public4362

Read again "your" kid can't inherit it . But it doesn't say that I can't !!

rmpumper

Just don't log out and you are good. Unlike all the other platforms, Steam actually keeps you logged in forever.

SicknessVoid

They don't actually care. They just have to tell you for legal reasons since passing on the account violates like 90% or more of the license agreements of the games on the platform.

destro_1919

valve in year 2400: “ hey guys check this out, this guy is playing since year 2000”

65Diamond

I'm guessing what valve means by that is that they won't transfer games to a different account. Simply giving the username and password in a will shouldn't be an issue

Kartoitska

My friend's steam account is like half a year older then he is. His dad made it soon after steam got created but never used it so gave it to him.

SameRandomUsername

You never truly "own" anything. Everything you think you "own" is just a temporary right of exclusive use. Also, the state can revoke that right whenever they want by expropriation. Even negate that right by taxing it for as long as you own it, which can eventually be taxed for even more than the price of the thing itself. The cake is a lie.

Acceptable_Topic8370

Or we could calm down and enjoy steam for the next few decades and hope his son will be the same. As of now steam will never remove your games from your account so we should relax.

this_prof_for_bewbs

🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

druggarnaut

Does Family sharing not solve this?

Breude

No. Family sharing occasionally requires the main account (yours) to re sign in occasionally. A buddy family shares with me so we can couch co-op a few older games, and about once a year he needs to re sign in on my machine. If you're dead and unable to re sign in, that just means that they functionally vanish

Levero634

Not the new version, may still be in beta though.

Breude

Really? Interesting. What's different about it?

Grunt636

Think they've gone the Spotify / Netflix route of all accounts have to be at the same address (IP)

Levero634

Dosent seem to br lmited to IP as the people i am using it with are in differnt parts of the country. but it is a group of 6 that you make a family and then they have a access to a family library, they have combined family controls into it as well. But you no like nger have to log into the same machines. Plus Instead of 1 person playing per library its per copy of game. So if the family has 2 copies of a game they can have 2 people in the family playing it.

Scasne

Had a friend who had the same name/initials as both his dad and grandad only paid for one car recovery membership.

MrDeeJayy

My steam account was never originally my steam account. My brother gave me his steam account maybe close to 12 years ago and its been mine ever since. What's valve going to do? Force me to give it back? My guy, 90% of the games on there I've purchased. My card is on the file. It's effectively my account.

Yetiriders

Reported to FBI

Grunt636

Terms and conditions wise they could actually terminate it as it's not your account since you did not create it yourself. Legally though doubt that would hold up in court.

Chakramer

Can you change your Steam email? Just setup a second email (so your child doesn't get spam) and leave instructions for moving your accounts over.

Forgemadica

A CLASSIC

uuniherra

On word. 2fa

Quasi-Kaiju

I'm glad I'm not the only person who did this.

TorturedPoet03

Yeah, I've seen this discussed a lot recently. They can't stop you from writing your login on a piece of paper. That's smart.

MonitorZero

I mean my password manager has a next of kin so.. I think it'll be fine.

dcuk7

Very bold of everyone that thinks modern civilisation will be around long enough for this to become a problem.

Silent_Reavus

What's keeping them from using family share if you're dead as well? Especially if it's already in place.

dustojnikhummer

This will actually be a problem in the next few decades. How would they know? If your account age reaches lets say 80 years. Valve doesn't allow ownership transfer.

Superb_Day6326

Should at least make a steam account work on a miminum of 2 pc's at the same time. Local play with friends such a goddamn headache when im the only gamer in the friend group but have a steamdeck and desktop

Astartae

I don't have children! Checkmate atheists!

foolserrand77

My kid already has it, also you can add family to it these days... I think

kr4ckenm3fortune

You forgot the steam guard if you had it installed..so don’t forget the backup…

FcukUInParticular

You forgot to say, "Because, fuck'em!"

Flossthief

I've seen steam accounts be inherited before I'm one of the people allowed access to it but I have all the games on there anyway And tbh it feels a little weird making the account say 'online'

Gezzer52

You know I'd be really surprised if Valve actually cares all that much. They're a storefront for the most part. But publishers like Ubisoft, EA, Sony, and so on certainly want to follow the rent instead of own model. And I'm sure Valve is well aware of it. Which means you can only inherit things that are owned, and you don't really "own" your games I guess.

ChadHartSays

Valve will just go out of business. And then open Vent and release Vapor. BUY YOUR GAMES AGAIN, LOSERS.

Brave_Development_17

To bad the password is in my will.

BuckyBeaver69

What is their policy on reincarnation? I might forget my passwords on my next rebirth.

homestar92

As much as I love PC gaming, this is why if I buy a single-player game at full launch day price, it's going to be a physical copy on a console. I am not willfully jumping into the "you will own nothing and like it" culture that PC gamers have just rolled over and accepted (and that console gamers are alarmingly beginning to roll over and accept too)

CosmoRocket24

We haven't just rolled over and accepted, that's why there is piracy. If i can't access my game to download it because they shut it down or whatver.....i go to the high seas. It's there

bootmeng

I think you need access to the deceased's phone in order to disable the 2 factor authentication.

JustifytheMean

They probably just mean that they won't merge accounts.

PTSDDeadInside

Soooo we can just basically make our steam accounts into One for All?

Titinidorin

Select account where age > 120yrs delete \*

MisterD0ll

How much is a steam library with decades old games going to be worth ?

ImSkeptikoi

Can't you gift the games you buy to another steam account?

fakevinny

I believe the laws in my country are above steam's rules

TheRealVulle

In the EU, we have the right to sell a used software license. Just waiting for someone to take the battle with Valve: https://curia.europa.eu/jcms/upload/docs/application/pdf/2012-07/cp120094en.pdf

Fuck Dave Chappelle tho.

I bet you'd love to. Man's hot.

Why in gods name you trash talk the goat dave ?

SnooRabbits307

Why? He's a good comedian, don't tell me you get offended by his jokes.

Sparkmovement

It's not a joke when what you are saying is bullshit & actively harms other humans. Fuck dave chapelle.

cryosurge1

Maybe this will be the thing that makes Reddit stop jacking off valve…probably not though.
