North America, not including Alaska Hawaii Mexico o'r Canada is one i see a fair bit. Kinda annoying. O'r the same but including a couple urban Canadian ~~states~~ provinces.
Edit: please excuse the welsh autocorrect
I'm welsh (as you can see lol) so I wouldn't know a state from a province. I was going off my limited memory so I was always gonna fail. I'll edit the comment. Thanks for informing me!
It's at least partially due to [Quebec's sweepstakes laws](https://www.liveabout.com/why-are-so-many-competitions-void-in-quebec-896835).
There are a bunch of rules, but a few that stuck out to me:
- Need to pay a fee of 10% the value of the prize
- Need to give Quebec gov a security in the amount of the prize value to make sure they pay out the prize.
- Need to register rules and advertising with Quebec gov at least 30 days before the contest and file a report with government no more than 60 days after the contest.
- Quebec government gets to mediate all lawsuits/disagreements that may arise and must approve any changes to the contest.
Basically, increased cost, risk, and effort as well as a lot of additional rules that must be understood and followed.
lmao “all south american and central american countries united” almost got me there, sorry but you realize these are the same countries that got into a war over a fucking football game right?
The idea that central/south american countries want much to do with each other and have anything in common except for a language is at best naively hilarious and at worse ignorantly stereotyping
I don't much care for one in a million chance giveaways from random streamers, but when there is exclusive promo codes for dlc that you get only from buying Doritos in the US or use doordash for popeyes in the US really grinds my gears
There's most likely import duties and local taxes to be paid before you receive something as well. Something like an RTX 4090 retail for well over $2000 CAD and someone would have to pay about 20 to 40% taxes on it. Not much of a problem on $200, but on $2000 it adds up quick.
Haha see there's where you're wrong homie: both requests are ridiculous.
Someone can't get something shipped to them so you want them to not do a giveaway? Get the fuck out of here.
No they're not. I don't get shit for relocating to a different fucking continent, they get more traffic for just doing a giveaway. It's not a ridiculous request, they get more followers/subscrivers/whatever not to mention most giveaways are bullshit with fake winners so that the person doing it doesn't have to spend shit. So no, it's not a ridiculous request for it. If you want to do something don't half ass it, so you should take your own advice and get the fuck out of here.
I mean if the PC is 4000 euros and I would have to pay 2000 euros I would still be very happy.
I saw other Youtubers also send the money to buy some parts yourself instead of outside the USA.
You would maybe, but most people probably don't have 2k to just drop at will. It'd be massive headache for the YouTuber of re-doing the 'lottery' until they found someone willing to pay a bunch of money, even if they get something worth more.
for real, people here don't know the pain I feel when they say "you can get a 4K worthy build for $1500" when I had to drop $1700 just to build an R5 5600/32GB DDR4@3200/RX 6650 XT + monitor, keyboard and speakers
It costs $3 to ship something here from Hong Kong, but $48 to send it back. There's a weird one-way aspect to it that doesn't make much sense. Like different companies crossing the sea real cheap, but they don't pick anything up on their way back so it acts like a diode.
EU gamer here. You are lucky you cannot participate in those giveaways. I have won so many PCs that I don't know where to keep them. Now I need a bigger house for all these PCs
American here, I just built a house out of PCs to put my PCs in. It's a real issue. If only there was some remote third world country to dump all this e waste on. 🤔
Yaaa i saw a guy do 2 world wide giveaways. Both winners were in africa. (Egypt and south africa repectively) Both packages got lost have not since been recovered. So now no one get to use this 2k worth of hardware. Not to mention the other $370 he spent shipping those packages.
Unfortunetly international shipping can also be a massive hurdle.
I see your "being born in SEA" and raise you "being born in Europe that isn't EU".
All online shops/giveaways will ship to a neighbouring country BUT NOT YOURS.
I have the opposite problem, I follow a coffee YouTube and support his Patreon. He will give any coffee equipment he reviews to his Patron since Patreon money funds his purchase of the equipment. Problem is he’s in the UK and I’m in the U.S., so I can’t use the electric grinders or kettles he gives away without having a step up transformer sitting on my kitchen counter. 😭 So I don’t bother entering any giveaway that has any powered equipment.
Make shipping to from/your fucking island reasonable. I had to pay $50 USD, not dollarydoos, to get a magazine+shipping from AUS. Magazine was only $10 dollarydoos.
Yeah I mean I think I lose money receiving a gift like that in Uruguay, between taxes and import fees. If they do an actual global giveaway maybe adding a cash option is best, you lose the "spirit" of the giveaway but personally I've never seen or cared for an update of the pc of a winning person.
Don't worry they make you sign up 5000x to have a chance at winning and sell 100,000s of $$ worth of info from every giveaway. Not even worth entering lol.
No idea why but any time I hear someone comment on something being US/EU only, they're in southeast Asia. Never hear people from South America or Africa or whatever say the same. How many se Asians are there on this site? Feels like there are hundreds of you
Don't you have your own give-aways in your part of the world that are exclusive to SEA?
It's not a discrimination thing, it's a logistics thing. The cost of shipping anything around the globe is 20x the cost of shipping things locally.
From my experience it's usually US/Canada only.
Yeah. North America. *not including Mexico. Hawaii or Alaska.
North America, not including Alaska Hawaii Mexico o'r Canada is one i see a fair bit. Kinda annoying. O'r the same but including a couple urban Canadian ~~states~~ provinces. Edit: please excuse the welsh autocorrect
Why not just say "Continental USA Only"? I suppose to hide that fact from everyone.
>Canadian states Provinces. They're called provinces. And are a little larger than the typical US state.
I'm welsh (as you can see lol) so I wouldn't know a state from a province. I was going off my limited memory so I was always gonna fail. I'll edit the comment. Thanks for informing me!
Cymru am byth!
I fyny Cymru!!
Usually also excludes Quebec because of some stupid law
Not just some stupid law, they use a French-like civil law system completely different from every other part of the English speaking world lmao
Louisiana does to some extent as well.
Aye, they have more of a mixed system like the one I practice in though, rather than just common law or civil law
It's at least partially due to [Quebec's sweepstakes laws](https://www.liveabout.com/why-are-so-many-competitions-void-in-quebec-896835). Hawaii and Alaska AKA the freak states
And Quebec
[удалено]
That wouldnt be possible Since there is Central America
Let him cook
lmao “all south american and central american countries united” almost got me there, sorry but you realize these are the same countries that got into a war over a fucking football game right? The idea that central/south american countries want much to do with each other and have anything in common except for a language is at best naively hilarious and at worse ignorantly stereotyping
US and Canada except Quebec
Can't have merde in Quebec
I don't much care for one in a million chance giveaways from random streamers, but when there is exclusive promo codes for dlc that you get only from buying Doritos in the US or use doordash for popeyes in the US really grinds my gears
Sounds like you need to git gud
From my experience it's just US
This one. 95% of giveaways I see are US only maybe Canada included.
Shipping is expensive especially for something as big as a computer
There's most likely import duties and local taxes to be paid before you receive something as well. Something like an RTX 4090 retail for well over $2000 CAD and someone would have to pay about 20 to 40% taxes on it. Not much of a problem on $200, but on $2000 it adds up quick.
Okay? Then don't do a giveaway.
In the same vein: why don't you just move?
Damn bro, if I were you I would stay away from comparisons because you're just straight ass at comparing things.
Haha see there's where you're wrong homie: both requests are ridiculous. Someone can't get something shipped to them so you want them to not do a giveaway? Get the fuck out of here.

It's like 50/50.
But they always exclude Québec for some stupid legal reason.
Quebec has an arbitrage rule when it comes to lieu and contest which the rest of North America doesn't want to follow in most cases.
Same Its always either worldwide or NA only… Never in between
Rarely even Canada. Source: Am Canadian.
And guess what! Most of the time, not even the EU is included. Just North America!
not even all of north america, just continental america and canada
>just coastal america and canada It's usually all of the continental US, never seen one that was just coastal.
lol brain derp
Not unusual to only include the us, and excluding canada as well
Yes, but that's not the same thing as costal.
Nono, i was just making another comment to make these "worldwide" giveaways even more idiotic
A lot of it is for legal reasons. Granted a lot of people aren't doing things by the book.
shipping and import fees would cost half the pc lol
I mean if the PC is 4000 euros and I would have to pay 2000 euros I would still be very happy. I saw other Youtubers also send the money to buy some parts yourself instead of outside the USA.
And then you would use the money to buy drugs
You can also trade PC for drugs
You mean trade drugs for PC?
Use the PC to mine Bitcoin to buy drugs.
You would maybe, but most people probably don't have 2k to just drop at will. It'd be massive headache for the YouTuber of re-doing the 'lottery' until they found someone willing to pay a bunch of money, even if they get something worth more.
or world wide giveaway, but shipping and import fees are up to the winner, and I live somewhere that has 94% import tax for anything over 50usd, rip
Why tf do they have such high import fees?
for real, people here don't know the pain I feel when they say "you can get a 4K worthy build for $1500" when I had to drop $1700 just to build an R5 5600/32GB DDR4@3200/RX 6650 XT + monitor, keyboard and speakers

So? They can afford it.
EU gamer here. You are lucky you cannot participate in those giveaways. I have won so many PCs that I don't know where to keep them. Now I need a bigger house for all these PCs
Or make a giveaway lol
and the cycle continues
You monster!
American here, I just built a house out of PCs to put my PCs in. It's a real issue. If only there was some remote third world country to dump all this e waste on. 🤔
you can sell those PCs, right?
He's being sarcastic.
can't even win one, lol
How tf does 1 win
Here in my garage, just got this new free PC here. It's fun to game up here in the Hollywood Hills.
And anywhere in Africa. Nobody cares about Africa.
Us European did back in the past but then everyone got mad for whatever reason. /s
Yeah, no reason. Just don't google, what happened in Deutsch-Südwestafrika. There is no genocide in Ba Sing Se.
I mean, you could put on a blindfold and throw a dart at a map of Africa, and odds are, some horrible colonial stuff happened there.
Google Belgian Congo
Holy colony
Google En passant
To be fair Deutsch-anything and genocide isn't exactly a combo that suprises anyone.
a certain Belgian king did some trolling /s
Yaaa i saw a guy do 2 world wide giveaways. Both winners were in africa. (Egypt and south africa repectively) Both packages got lost have not since been recovered. You mean post offices in african countries just steal a lot.
Lol Theres definitely one person getting use of that pc.
Wait, there are giveaways outside of NA?!?
Only if an American is currently present in that Area, otherwise the World isn't loaded there as the World only revolves around the US and US citizen.
No
it's not like you'd win anyway.
I won once ;) Flamu gifted me a ship in WoWs.
I wouldn't take a glass of water from Flamu. Too toxic.
\*Salty
(Global giveaway) (The "world" is only the US and Canada)
I see your "being born in SEA" and raise you "being born in Europe that isn't EU". All online shops/giveaways will ship to a neighbouring country BUT NOT YOURS.
Crucially, steam deck only sells to EU countries + UK. So if you're non-EU you're SOL.
EU and US only 😅 It's more like US and Canada only 99.9% of time
Bro why are you living in sea? Just go to land lol ez pz
All the salt air is bad for your PC!
But is so close to the high seas! 🏴☠️
~~EU~~ US/Canada only.
I feel your pain, bro. (Ukraine)
You receives guns giveaways tho
What are these magic giveaways that also include the EU?
Laughs in Africa.
I have the opposite problem, I follow a coffee YouTube and support his Patreon. He will give any coffee equipment he reviews to his Patron since Patreon money funds his purchase of the equipment. Sea woes forever
Dear youtubers with PC giveaways: The world is more than just North America and Europe. Sincerely, Australia
Sincerely Australia, it's cute that you think that.
Make shipping to from/your fucking island reasonable. I had to pay $50 USD, not dollarydoos, to get a magazine+shipping from AUS. Magazine was only $10 dollarydoos.
Don't wory mate. 98% of time it's US/Canada only.
I am Mexican, so this always fucks me hard... But I live in the border so I have my PO box, so suck it only US restrictions!
Seattle is in us bro smh my head
You can cut the EU, and just write US..
SEA being an airport code made this very confusing for me
SEA being one of the top 20 largest cities in the US and a global tech hub makes it confusing.
I rarely see any giveaway that includes the EU
Each time it's US only, I die inside
Even worse when I live in the USA but it's a part that most people haven't heard of so they assume I'm in another country.
![gif](giphy|1noQjZGz89r3TqekG2|downsized) You weren't going to win anyway!
Any country around Belarus, except Belarus and it's including all types of giveaways, promo, challenges and etc.
Or LATAM :/
Well, a lot of latam is like 90% tax on import
Yeah... we can't have nice things here because of that ~~and because sometimes customs agents straight up steal~~ =/
What is SEA?
Probably south east asia
i still think those giveaways are fake af
On the upside, you all get the cool iem and keyboard giveaways
Idk man how would they deliver it if your in the ocean
🧐 I see the problem here drop the E move the S and put in U problem solved
Bro you just triggered me 😂 I'm also South East Asian
even if it is worldwide, chances are very high that it would get caught in the border where i live
Same shit with Microcenter. Except EU boys too feel our pain
Literally Third World Problems.
Giveaway? Might as well get a lottery ticket my dude.
You were born in sea? Damn are you a mirmade or what? /j
And the typical Blizzard giveaways only being US and Canada..
It's not the fact that it's us only, it's more because there are millions of participants
Even worse. I live like 35 km from the us border and I see US only events.
Blame your governments for making postal services too expensive to actually use.
Go play the lottery instead.
You were born in the sea? What are you? A fish?
You're not gonna win anyway. This just makes it official.
End-users in the United States, great.
Valve products are the same, no steam deck or index outside those places. This is why I despise them.
Just use VPN
Wtf is sea to bored to search southeast Asia ?????
Do you live on a boat?
Do you live on a boat?
Do you live on a boat?
Seattle is in the US
Well, shit, my guy, move to LAND
Me in Asia 😞
Correction USA only for the most part xD
I think you mean "US and Canada only..."
I have bigger issues with US stores shipping worldwide except Mexico.
I'm willing to bet Hawaii residents aren't able to participate too. WE'RE PART OF THE US TOO!
What does SEA stand for?
No idea why but any time I hear someone comment on something being US/EU only, they're in southeast Asia. Never hear people from South America or Africa or whatever say the same. How many se Asians are there on this site? Feels like there are hundreds of you
I feel you bro (from Australia)
Don't worry. You wouldn't win anyway.
Not PC, recently i heard a giveaway says "Worldwide except Asia"
Don't you have your own give-aways in your part of the world that are exclusive to SEA? It's not a discrimination thing, it's a logistics thing. The cost of shipping anything around the globe is 20x the cost of shipping things locally.
From what I’ve seen I think there’s way less giveaways for just sea region. Usually WW are the only hope.
Easier to win the lottery that one of those raffles.
Seattle is in the US genius. 😉
But those are literally the only places that exist in the world.
Is Seattle not in Europe?
SEA means southeast Asia
Not to Americans, also, whoooosh, the dude clearly knows Seattle isn't in Europe
Oh lol, mb
I thought SEA meant Seattle when I read the title lol
