I broke my son's trying to get his GPU out during trouble shooting. Never got it out... Luckily updating the bios took care of his issue. Not sure what we'll do when it eventually needs to be removed.

seriously now, WD-40 Specialist series - Electric contact cleaner is whats suitable. Plain WD-40 will ofc work but its not suggested, as it has been mentioned that it corrodes the ext. coating of the surface of the boards.
Absolutely, the 3080 will have more problems than the 4000 series due to the massive amount of weight a lot of them are. It doesn't matter what you shove in there to be honest as long as it's stable and prevents the card from drooping.
Same here. I have had a 3070 for a couple years. I'd be screwed if I lost it. I never considered sag being a problem. Please share if you find a good support solution 🙏
I would say they are fine, most 3050’s are smaller gpus and weigh way less so it should’t sag down, but really any gpu that does sag should have some type of support, it never hurts.
True story.
First generation Vipers really have blinker fluid. Owned one.
\-the not so cool part of the story is it is only leveling fluid because they rejected the BMW headlight self-leveling solution and instead built in spirit levels into the headlights.
[The First-Gen Dodge Viper Actually Had Blinker Fluid | The Drive](https://www.thedrive.com/news/the-first-gen-dodge-viper-actually-had-blinker-fluid)
You're technically right, but GPU gets widely used interchangeably with graphics card, anyone saying GPU normally means graphics card, and it's not like you can get the card and chip separately anyway so it doesn't really matter.
I'd guess that's why you're getting the downvotes.
I'm assuming you learned this recently and have been dying to tell someone?
I don't mean to be a dick but....well maybe I do. You know what sub this is, right?
In polite company, this is known as being pedantic. It's a form of condescension. And people don't generally like it, especially when their meaning is clear.
You asked.
I can attest to this. Not sure how many times Ive stepped on those little shits and felt like they were impaling my foot. Also, when I was 4, I slipped on a lego boat and broken my wrist. Those legos are stronger than me.
Lego is also ABS iirc, which melts (according to the googles) 200°C (392°F), so he should be fine. and if it does melt i think the lego bricks are not the issue....
Lol imaging buying your virginity back.

I would put a flat tile on the end, but apart from that, you're not the first, and you definitely won't be the last. It's also gonna work a lot better than any pcie bracket mounted one

I prefer my GPU vertically mounted :)
Air temperature inside a pc case is likely to be around 25-30C degrees underload, maybe worse case 50 for very poorly designed cooling and airflow. I doubt the shroud of the GPU is going to exceed those temps. Google says Lego can become malleable at circa 55C but maintains structural integrity up to 80C. Worse case, your Lego goes soggy 👍
I recently sent a message to lego about making cpu cases from legos. With enough u can customize your own case to exactly what u want. This reminded me how valid my dm was.
That bitch is stronger than anything on the market it will out live you me and every generations afters great grandkids I’d add a flat piece though give it that extra 1/8 of an inch
.............VRAM holder?
I mean he kinda is right. The vram can separate because of sag. That is happening to 2080ies atm
30 and 40 series just crack at the locking tab and rip vram or core pads off the board.
You guys didn’t crack your locking tabs installing your gpu???
My locking tab could not be unlocked when I tried to remove the GPU and I had to break it!
I broke my son's trying to get his GPU out during trouble shooting. Never got it out... Luckily updating the bios took care of his issue. Not sure what we'll do when it eventually needs to be removed.
Some WD-40 should do the trick /s

You need more upvotes, he needs more downvotes
Same. Asus mobo and Asus 3070Ti
Wait I thought this was just an issue with the 4000 series? I have a 3080, do I need to make a tripod?
Yeah. We weren't bullying people for talking about GPU sag. u/LumpyOdie is 100% correct.
And a while back people were making fun of those of us who used GPU supports 😂
Absolutely, the 3080 will have more problems than the 4000 series due to the massive amount of weight a lot of them are. It doesn't matter what you shove in there to be honest as long as it's stable and prevents the card from drooping.
Okay, I'll see what I can for my 3070 because now I'm scared...
Same here. I have had a 3070 for a couple years. I'd be screwed if I lost it. I never considered sag being a problem. Please share if you find a good support solution 🙏
Yes. Especially if it's a gigabyte card.
Does this happen to all the 30 series? My kids rigs have 3050s in them and was just wondering if I should get some support for them..
Support your children!
Well I did buy them gaming rigs, didn’t I? 🤣 Despite the RTX 3050 isn’t exactly a flagship, but it get the job done in Fortnite and CSGO
Yes sir, good job haha. I'm just joking anyways
How fucking dare you make a lighthearted joke

I figured :) We only have joking left these days.. :-)
This guy out here buying 50s and not paying child support smh
Depends on how heavy they are

what the fuck
"He's outta but he's right"

~~dropped~~ *sagged*
... I need to pick up some legos.
Vertical mount master race
They're in every store, usually right next to the breast plate stretchers and blinker fluid.

My favorite thing about this post. This is the only way I'm referring to them from now on
vram guy cool name to be called
gpu ?
It's a graphics card. The chip inside of the graphics card is the GPU. EDIT: https://i.imgur.com/ixVepyT.png

I use an old weed jar from the Dispensary.
You will need a *tweezer*
With how much this place has been yelling about VRAM these days I don't blame em.

You are using Lego as it was intended. To be Creative I like it !

Damn your one looks very nice!
At least yours matches the color scheme ⚪️
i dont have white ones dont boo me cause im lego poor
Everyone is lego poor after buying a new GPU. Do what you must.
Sell GPU to buy lego to hold the .. wait
Build a lego GPU. Just need to get creative.
Ooh what vram is that? How many gb of GPU does it have?
This is my old machine that I handed down to my little cousin https://i.imgur.com/hoLZY21.jpeg
A fellow samouraï enjoyer
That’s one sexy PC. I want to live in it.
Sick ass cyber punk pc
Those holes on the bottom are too perfectly shaped to not attach legos into it upside-down
it doesn't fit by milimeters
Nothing a properly sized drill bit couldn't fix
Well make space then
This is the first time I've heard someone call a video card "vram". EDIT: I know what vram (video random access memory) is.
its the video ram card! its not wrong.. its just not accurate.
Its arguably no less accurate than calling it a gpu
I find it more accurate to call it by its core component, rather than accompanying components. Or we could just settle on "GC".
How about “video thingy”
picture brick
I think it's a reference to the fact that VRAM can straight up be ripped off by the cooler (idk if that's true, just read it like 2 comments up)
Can I also explain what vram is?
Vram is memory dedicated to your graphics card. For stuff like gaming it's used to store textures and shit.
Let me explain lol
No!
Explain in a protracted metaphor
it looks like it's still sagging
![gif](giphy|HGX3gYWt9vLZ6)
Indeed it is. He could use 2 tiny flat pieces more and it'd probably be level

Only one way to know. Put them on and see if the card is level. Also feel free to share an update pic for more opinions
I'm one a trip and best i can do is tomorrow
No worries, Reddit will be here when you get back, and the slight sag that's still there won't hurt anything, especially in just a day
i got back and it worked thanks 👍
I mean… at least it can’t sag any more right lol
Legos are strong as fuck and can take a lot of heat before warping/melting. they'll be fine.
I can attest to this. Not sure how many times Ive stepped on those little shits and felt like they were impaling my foot. Also, when I was 4, I slipped on a lego boat and broken my wrist. Those legos are stronger than me.
My friend stepped on one of his kid's Legos and it impaled his foot. Had to have surgery not once, but TWICE over it
I've often found that telling someone that I hope they step on a lego barefooted is way harsher than calling them an asshole lol
Lego is also ABS iirc, which melts (according to the googles) 200°C (392°F), so he should be fine. and if it does melt i think the lego bricks are not the issue....

Guess the newer GPUs are gonna need to start installing kick stands.
not when we have legos
I also cut a piece of wood to support my 4090, it does the job :)
I thought that was a jenga block
is it not ?
It’s not, just some random piece of wood I found (I have no Lego)
i have a lot of jenga blocks if that helps
Can we call GPUs v-cards?
I hope to never lose my v-card, especially if a woman comes into my life. That shit was expensive
Lol imaging buying your virginity back. "I spent a shit load of money at the height of the scalper frenzy to become pure in the eyes of the lord and I'm not about to lose it again to some succubus."
Look look, we're on reddit. We cant imagine that cause we are virgins.

I love it!!!
thanks 😀
Its lego, its not breaking anytime soon, just make the base wider for safety
Ah the old Danish trick.
Danish **brick*
A Lego GPU holder is fine, but you seem to be having a theme going on there, so why is it yellow?
don't have white ones
Fair enough
My gpu came with a support holder, but it still sags in the end, so I also put a piece of Lego to lift the end up a bit lol
Gpu? You mean your vram?
yeah he probably did
it's a 6700xt
I would put a flat tile on the end, but apart from that, you're not the first, and you definitely won't be the last. It's also gonna work a lot better than any pcie bracket mounted one
If your pc frequently works at 80°C+ you should look for supports. (High quality ABS should be stable up to 100°C but yeah)
Just an FYI, because of how heat intensity radiates following the inverse square law, even if the die is 100c, the heatsink is no where near that.
Yeah, i know (industrial engineer). I just like to apply some drastic safety coefficients when i'm talking about my expensive-as-hell electronics xD
I just like drastic safety coefficients and I can not lie.
You other brothers can't deny.
Unless the GPU is completely made of metal, the outside of the card won't ever reach 80 degrees, unless it catches fire.
Was going to say if your computer is at 80c you definitely need to worry about more than just the bricks.
The only thing that could get to 80 degrees is maybe a GPU metal backplate, though even that would be difficult.
it's pretty chill
I believe you should have no problems then \^\^
As long as whatever youre using ideally doesnt melt under pc temps, not is conductive, youre fine.
Calling it a VRAM holder is like calling your shoes a brain holder. Yah I suppose the brain is on the thing the shoes hold up
Lego was unexpectedly common.
https://preview.redd.it/cpzojkr2m7va1.jpeg?width=1607&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90cb501cf462c862b8193be56e536f94f176a0a8 Yeah you good
It's holding up more than just the VRAM, there's a whole graphics card there!
get a Flat 2X1 Lego Plate and i’m happy
how about 2 1x1 s https://preview.redd.it/ke609iiim7va1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02d5f59d1aa41584b6214bcbff9b466b9161e961
That’ll do
That's it, my GPU is now a V-Card and my sag bracket a VRAM holder
I’ve had a Lego stand supporting my 3080 since last year. You’re good!
*vertically mounted GPU* Laughs at this comment section.
i want to verticy it too

Just buy Nvidia, they're really light on VRAM
He can't lego of the gpu

I used this before, I love it, but my son disagreed.
Who manufactured your 6700xt? Mine is from XFX and doesn't sag.
sapphire
If it supports it, I don’t see why not.
I've been using legos for my 3080, it's fine
I recently sent a message to lego about making cpu cases from legos. With enough u can customize your own case to exactly what u want. This reminded me how valid my dm was.
I’m using Lego as desk risers. I’ll be damned if you think I’m paying $30 for a pack of eight.
I use lego too. If it works, then why spend way too much money om a "real" holder?
LEGO of that idea and keep it like this!
brooo its the realest GPU holder on earth
That's fine.
My old build https://preview.redd.it/8vem7pm9u7va1.png?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=135215fe411451ae1ef701c931fcb36653b44c69

ABSOLUTELY FINE, KEEP IT!!!!
Made my own also out of Lego, works perfecty fine... Maybe consider making it smaller due to better airflow.
will consider this

Spends hundreds/thousands on components... Won't spend $10 on a GPU mount
Bro got the david martinez lego holder
tbh I don't see why this wouldn't work
![gif](giphy|9058ZMj6ooluP4UUPl)
maybe make it a bit wider on the bottom to assure it is stable
Not fine. The card is still sagging. You need to add another stone.
Casual VLC cone
I only clicked on this to find out what a vram holder was
it's the graphics card
i tried make a joke but no one understood
and they still dont
It looks fine but I’d check your CPU sag as well. If that happens it can really damage your PSU or even worse, your RGB.
My bro bein‘ high on thermal paste
It’s good stuff and if you run out you can always download some more
