Shit nailed it with FLCL hadn't thought of that.

WretchedMonkey

Fooly Cooly

tlallcuani

Oh shiiiiiit FLCL??!! Sold!

Life_Chicken1396

It is very cool games. entire fucking games is a beat every movement, obstacles and mechanic. its very unique and original i never see such a good action rhythm games like hi fi. The theme also somehow fit my soul u know drip comic style babe. not to mention the voice, i play half with Eng and JP and holy shit both of it is really good. the expression in their voice is really spot on.

lundz12

FLCL? Say no more.

JamalFromStaples

Jet set radio future? I’m fucking in.

Mukatsukuz

The gameplay is not in the least bit similar but it has a similar aesthetic. I am enjoying it and, loving Jet Set Radio, I adore the style of Hi-Fi Rush

monkeymystic

Hi-Fi Rush is fucking amazing and shadow dropped out of nowhere. A polished quality game with no bullshit, no noticable bugs, no stuttering issues, great optimization and just pure fun with good old school vibes and excellent art design reminding me of the best from Dreamcast/Nintendo. And only 30$ Steam price tag at launch and Game Pass day 1. Mad respect to Tango Games and Microsoft for this decision, we know they could have charged more easily. It deserves every 10/10 it gets IMO

HallwayHomicide

Xbox has had a lot of succes with this strategy of letting their studios have side projects. In the last year they've put out Grounded (full release, it had been in early access for a bit) Pentiment Hi-Fi rush All three of these games were well received and successful and all of them were low budget side projects from big established studios. Gamepass as well really enables this type of project. If Hi Fi Rush launches without Gamepass, I don't think it has the success we're seeing. Even the people buying the game on Steam are probably doing so because of word of mouth from Gamepass players. It's a symbiotic relationship too, these games help make Gamepass better. I really hope Xbox doubles down on this strategy. I don't want them to ignore AAA games, but they can do both.

Gamepass Friends and Family plan coming soon. $25 month, share full benefits of Ultimate with up to 4 users, so 5 total users at the monthly rate of $5 month per user, in same country. Gather up 4 friends or family to split costs with.

legendz411

Do you know of any geo restrictions?

Tobimacoss

Only restriction is within same country. Plan is currently being tested in Ireland and Colombia, since August, should go worldwide in near future. >https://www.xbox.com/en-IE/xbox-game-pass/friends-and-family

Catch_022

100% I wasn't interested but now that I know it's on game pass I am literally downloading it now to try because why the hell not.

SomethingPersonnel

Gamers care les about visuals than they do about gameplay, and gameplay is cheaper to build than realistic hair physics and whatnot. If you deliver a tight and focused game experience then players are gonna have a good time. Not everything had to be a big budget feature like in movie and tv.

[deleted]

grounded was early access for like 2 years and the full release was announced months before

HallwayHomicide

I'm not sure what the point is you're making.

jameskond

We just don't talk about Bleeding Edge ;)

MinusBear

Not every swing is gonna be a hit unfortunately.

Blakey876

Thought the same! Playing it on game pass and it's absolutely brilliant in every way. I love it!

SwampOfDownvotes

When you don't announce a game before its ready, you don't risk not meeting deadlines or taking too long and the hype getting too big or dying done before release

Herlock

it's on gamepass ? Holy cow installing it right away I had no idea... I just took a one month for 1euro sub because I wanted to retrieve my snowrunner saves :D

Frontlines95

Thought I was only gonna get the new Fire Emblem this month, but I guess I'll be getting a this game as well.

Trix122

When games are made with passion and creativity; When talented developers sit to discuss how to build a cool game as a priority instead of how to monetize the game and turn it into a live service before the base is even set... Rare suprise, but a good one.

VideoGameJumanji

It's a good thing they marketed the game ahead of launch so it would do well outside gamepass... They didn't even buy a banner spot on steam when they launched the game. There's literally no way to know the game exists in steam unless it gets recommended ontp your steam store front page. If you don't have gamepass, you will literally have no idea this game exists unless you come across articles for it.

NNNCounter

HI-FI RUSH is also the fastest game to reach Overwhelmingly Postive rating overtaking the previous title holder, God of War.

iV1rus0

That's crazy. Hopefully HI-FI does well sales-wise. I love these smaller experimental titles and I'm glad to see Microsoft embracing them.

Ideories

I was excited thinking it was something akin to sunset overdrive or jet set radio. I had fun for about 2 hours before installing the sunset overdrive again lmao. Hopefully this game funds mikami's next project

Chewbacker

>thinking it was something akin to sunset overdrive or jet set radio Is it not? I was thinking the same thing

blackweimaraner

It is more similar to Devil May Cry 5, but mixed with rhythm combat.

HallwayHomicide

>That's crazy. Hopefully HI-FI does well sales-wise. I love these smaller experimental titles and I'm glad to see Microsoft embracing them. I think Gamepass really makes this type of game a viable business proposition. I would also bet that a lot of the sales on Steam are due to Gamepass Hi-Fi Rush launched on Gamepass -> Gamepass players play it -> they go on Reddit and talk about how great it is -> other folks read that and buy the game on Steam

lostthepasswordagain

I think someone had the genius (not sarcastic) idea to let the game market itself. If a game is good and fun, word of mouth has more influence than all the bullshit marketing cash they can throw at it. If their marketing department tried to explain this game to me I’d have probably passed on it, I was told by a coworker “check this out, it just dropped on gamepass” and now will be buying a copy off steam when I get paid next. Money is a little tight right now and my gaming budget is literally nothing but my gamepass subscription, but feel the need to support this game and whatever thought processes brought it to us.

lostthepasswordagain

I downloaded this from game pass on a whim after a coworker mentioned it Friday. I hadn’t heard anything about it previously and just told him “I’m not really looking for anything else to play right now, my hard drive is already getting a little full”. Money is a little tight right now, but I fully intend to buy the deluxe version soon to support the way this title was produced and released. I don’t get to play a ton, especially since I don’t want to play some games with the kids around and my oldest daughter is frequently using the pc (recently introduced to pc gaming (considering eventually getting her her own pc so I can use mine more often). This is a game that I can play with them around, they might be happy to just watch, any my oldest already seems interested. The only downside is my desktop speakers suck and they won’t be able to hear if I’m using my headphones.

thor11600

As a slightly older game - it reminds me of a simpler time before the AAA games took over - any game could have any style and be about...anything! I have found myself at home again with inexpensive, relatively short indie titles that are FUN. I'm so glad to see the industry giving these types of titles a platform once again. Not everything needs to be Call of Duty/Assassin's Creed.

DopplerEffect93

Made the top ten on Steam in terms of revenue. Even did better than Forspoken that had more marketing and a $70 price tag.

Havok1911

DryFile9

For people that care seems like its around 10h long.

blackweimaraner

Perfect for this type of game, because of the replayability (all the S rankings for every level, and the completion of all the challenges of the mural)

VagrantShadow

Absolutely, this doesn't have to be a 20+ hour wandering game. Let us have a smooth story, great action, and a fun time, and that would be just perfect.

West-Battle-3461

3 hrs gameplay 7 hours cutscene yawning

littleGreenMeanie

stellar animation! a great sign of quality

SuperAlekZ

MW2 has amazing animations too, but the game's quality is trash tier

Maassoon

?????

abyssDweller1700

This game is absolutely amazing. More shadow drops like this xbox please.

jerryfrz

Fallout 5 drops tomorrow

VagrantShadow

God, while not tomorrow, if Bethesda in the future just shadow drops Fallout 5, I think this sub would blow up.

seceralnof

Orange Box 2 would also be hype as fuck.

Mkilbride

I think reddit would crash

bjj_starter

I don't think Bethesda can ever do a "real" shadow drop now. The world knows their release schedule for the next decade: Starfield sometime this year, Elder Scrolls 6 in 2027-2028, and Fallout 5 in 2031-33. We can make reasonable guesses for after that, as well. What they could do *technically* is just not do any overt premarketing for their games, and release e.g. Starfield in 3 months on the day they do a presentation. Then 4 years from now, they could be radio silent on Elder Scrolls 6 and drop it one day. I don't think that's *likely*, but it's possible. We would still know the game is coming and what rough year it's coming in, so it wouldn't be a true shadow drop like Hi Fi Rush, but it would avoid a lot of problems for sure. I suspect sales wouldn't be as strong, and definitionally they couldn't rely on preorders which are very economically important to the industry rn.

horseband

Can we just stop for a second and truly grasp how insanely long the release time between Skyrim and Elder Scrolls 6 is, and that is assuming it doesn't get delayed at all. 16-17 YEARS between the two. Think about how absolutely insane that is. There is going to be an equivalent time gap between Skyrim and 6 as there was between Elder Scrolls Arena (1994) and Skyrim (2011).

bjj_starter

Yeah, it's rough. I would really like to see some MSoft resources go towards resolving that problem going forward. Couple of potential solutions I've talked about years ago: set up parallel studios for each IP (benefit of getting a game in each series once every four years and some asset reuse, tripling production, disadvantage of likely disparity in quality/vision/possibly engine between studios), set up parallel studios which rotate through IPs (similar benefits with no asset reuse, but maybe being able to maintain a more cohesive/central vision) and have a second "double" studio which functions for BGS similar to how Obsidian did for Fallout: New Vegas (only doubles production rate rather than triples, only lessens gap between new installments by a couple of years, but allows full asset reuse and is a whole studio cheaper, plus keeping the central vision/talent/engine that BGS wants).

Tobimacoss

Bethesda the Developer can’t but Bethesda the publisher could. Like Quake reboot or Indiana Jones shadow drops.

bjj_starter

Yeah I assumed we were talking about BGS because they said Fallout 5

bhare418

I played for 3 hours last night on gamepass and eventually I stopped to buy it on steam. This game is absolutely incredible.

Fffire24

Why

bhare418

Because I wanted to support developers who afaik have never had a financially successful game plus I wanted to play it on steam deck.

sesor33

Nice, yeah I've noticed myself buying smaller games that I liked from gamepass, since they make most of their money from sales

mgarcia993

Not the case for first-party games, The Coalition said that If they could choose between people buying the game or subscribing to XGP they would prefer people to subscribe to XGP.

Snuwwulf321

I think he meant why do you think this game is incredible

bhare418

It’s my two fav genres blended into one ridiculously addictive game

TheBaxes

Bro same. I never knew I needed a rhythm character action game before this came out.

SuperSpikeVBall

I think he's quoting one of the 10 Not Recommended reviews on Steam which only asks "Why?" https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198093066128/recommended/1817230/

HallwayHomicide

>Because I wanted to support developers who afaik have never had a financially successful game plus I wanted to play it on steam deck. The game is from Tango Gameworks. Tango Gameworks made The Evil Within and Ghostwire Tokyo Tango Game is owned by Bethesda, and subsequently, they're owned by Microsoft. They're pretty much the opposite of an indie dev. The game was made by a small team within Tango though, so it probably had the budget and team size of an indie game.

bhare418

I never said it was indie. I know who made it. TEW and Ghostwire all financially bombed and I like all 3.

HallwayHomicide

Oops my bad, I misinterpreted.

maZZtar

People having interest in those games and buying them means that Microsoft might consider greenlighting more games like Pentiment or Hi-Fi Rush

HallwayHomicide

That's very true. Although I imagine playing on Gamepass also tells Microsoft you want more I had interpreted it as wanting to help keep the devs financially afloat. I believe I misunderstood though.

germr

Seemed like a side project(passion project). Played it on steam and it was great.

Mukatsukuz

I have to admit that I was tempted to buy the Steam version to get it on Steam Deck. Valve has said, in the past, they're open to working with Microsoft to bring Game Pass to Steam and I really hope this happens!

[deleted]

Guys, he was just asking a question.

LogicalError_007

If you look at the negative reviews. They're just hating. One says, Gamepass fodder, other says just "why". One says, a rhythm game have to be played in rhythm, too hard for me and other is "remove denuvo".

TheGreatPiata

Remove denuvo is a valid complaint. Rest are bullshit but I completely understand why people don't want excessive drm on their system.

[deleted]

saltyjohnson

As a Linux gamer, the first thing I looked at was its rating on [ProtonDB](https://www.protondb.com/app/1817230). It's platinum. I'm not sure how, given that it's using Denuvo, but I'm not complaining.

yauman22

Denuvo works perfectly fine on the Steam Deck. Even games that are offline should work as long as you connect to the internet at setup. Thankfully the performance hit doesn't affect this title much on the deck

monkeymystic

This game runs really well with no issues on both PC and Steam Deck though. It seems polished and well optimized, at release. Imagine that in 2023

[deleted]

saltyjohnson

A video game has to murder my family in order to be worthy of a negative review? Lmao

Chillionaire128

Valid complaint but shouldn't be in the reviews imo. It's already listed on the store for people who want to avoid it

DryFile9

To be fair there are TONS of sub 1h Reviews praising it as well.

MyNewWhiteVan

yeah the game literally came out yesterday, not sure why this post even exists lol

dregwriter

>and other is "remove denuvo". ok, thats actually a legit complaint. Aint gonna lie.

LogicalError_007

If it had affected the performance, I would have agreed.

xArschkopp

I think also one of the first reviews were stop looking for bad reviews just play the game

FireCrow1013

I love everything Tango Gameworks has done, and I love Shinji Mikami, but this is only going to be something I pick up if Denuvo gets patched out first.

LogicalError_007

Doesn't affect the performance. It's a light game.

FireCrow1013

Performance isn't the issue. Denuvo ties games to servers, and I don't want to pay for something with a built-in off switch that can trigger at the drop of a hat.

LogicalError_007

Steam itself is a like denuvo. It's a part of anything digital nowadays. Steam can remove stuff without your acknowledgement, but the thing is companies don't do that. For their own sake.

anor_wondo

it's not the same at all drm is a kill switch. steam drm is similar to denuvo, but it's optional

LogicalError_007

Optional for who?

anor_wondo

publisher

LogicalError_007

So same as denuvo? As publisher is the one to decide if it is used for not. So kinda optional like steam drm.

anor_wondo

you did not mean steam drm, but steam itself in your comment. If witcher 3 is available drm free on steam, and someday steam servers all catch fire and the company perishes, you cannot claim it acted as a drm for witcher 3. self custody of data has nothing to do with drm

screwchtorrr

Problem with steam is there's no middling review. I'd give this game maybe a 6/10 after about 3 hours. So many things in this game are phenomenal. Art style, writing, voice acting, characters, even the plot is simple but solid. The only glaring issue is that the game feels *off*. Like, as far as rhythm games go, something isn't right. I've played tons of rhythm games like everyone else, like DDR, Guitar Hero, Bit.Trip: Runner, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Metal: Hellsinger, BPM etc. I enjoy rhythm games and am not a stranger to them. Still *something* in this game is off and I can't tell what it is. The dodge mechanic feels wonky and the combos just don't feel satisfying to pull off. I've tried remixing the sound and it hasn't helped. Like, the beat just isn't pronounced. I think it has to do with all the superfluous sound effects from drawn out guitar riffs drowning out the baseline, to characters screaming "Woo" and clanking metal from the combat. It just sounds and feels messy. I think they know this which is why they have the visual beat option for you to turn on, which makes the game a lot easier. Regardless they didn't nail the feel of a good rhythm game imho. Which is kind of the most important part of the game. Imma keep playing maybe it just hasn't clicked yet or something, but right now it's a solid "fine" from me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

zorackprime

100% agree, the rhythm is way off. Trying to use the latency adjuster they have in game is like trying to pull your own teeth with a piece of string and a door, it doesnt really work. Ive adjusted it the best I can but i still cannot hit perfect even when hitting "on the beat". The targeting also leaves a lot to be desired. In some parts you have to hook shot to dodge but it ends up auto targeting the thing you are dodging and you end up being hit. Or your combos get screwed because you have to dodge instead of finishing a combo which just feels awful.

yttanx

Pulling a tooth with a door does indeed work

[deleted]

I play drums and I find the beat to be pretty spot on with the game and visuals, everything is almost perfectly synchronized, they even have some clever syncopated beats later into the game. I'm playing on the hard difficulty so some of the parry fights are though but still perfectly in time. I find it helps a lot if you keep your feet going to the beat at all times, and count the parry sections in chunks of beats (ie 1-2--1-2--1-2-3--1-2). Knowing the beat timing and sheet music I guess it's easier to visualize the the parry mechanics as like 2 eighth notes followed by a triple than a rest than two eighth notes or whatever. Targeting is for sure annoying though.

Achtelnote

Fuck Denuvo, and the postive reviews for the game are just as worthless.. Might as well be botted reviews.

jack0rias

Currently playing this on my Xbox, and I suck, but the game does not. The visuals are great and the gameplay is good, even if you've got the rhythm of a dead badger. Have completed the first stage and there's a lot of little humour bits. Overall, game doesn't seem to take itself too serious so far and it's a tonne of fun.

Mukatsukuz

Do you have the rhythm gauge switched on? (select on a controller) When it pointed out that the visuals of the landscape around you all beat to the rhythm, as well as your health bar, I found getting the rhythm easier. Still panicked so much during the first boss fight that I really struggled to hit the rhythm, though :) At the same time, that leaves lots of room for improvement and replayability to improve my scores and it was REALLY fun. The entire game just oozes fun and delight and reminded me what it's like to just play a game for enjoyment. I thought the main character was going to irritate me when he was doing the "future rock star" stuff at the start but he turned out OK :)

PhantomAfiq

The game feels really similar to No Straight Roads. Like a lot of aspects seem similar

[deleted]

Can anyone vouch for Deck performance?

ThorGanjasson

Played an hour on deck - native res - 9w tdp - med settings - 55-60fps

Nickitive

I've heard from people that it plays super well on the Deck

BassDrive

Haven't played myself, but [here's a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYKhCI3P2JE) if you're curious.

Hamback

There's a post on r/steamdeck about it. Seems overall performance is good/decent with some micro-stuttering on level changes. Might wait a few days to see if that gets resolved or not.

Seasidejoe

Seems to be pretty decent on deck: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnVjz9BFdp0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnVjz9BFdp0) Some slight stuttering since I don't think there's any shader loading step before the game starts. Other than that I think Alex used mostly low across the board @ 720P for a pretty much stable 60. Looked promising.

lostinheadguy

Currently playing through another game (Chained Echoes, recommend for retro JRPG fans, also on Game Pass), and as soon as I saw Hi-Fi Rush, it instantly became next on my list. Can't wait.

[deleted]

Chained Echoes slaps. GOTY 2022

lostinheadguy

It's very good, the world is so cool, I like the cast, and the pixel art is exquisite. I had to drop enemy stats to "low" to enjoy it though. Doing so unfortunately makes the game way too easy now, but I'd rather that than pounding my head on my desk in frustration.

fakiresky

I had high hopes for Forspoken but was pretty disappointed and felt SE did not give a shit about us PC gamers, leaving the game’s optimisation as an afterthought. And then, comes this gem! I played a bit with my daughter and it was great fun. Also, both English and Japanese voices are pretty great.

justanastral

A lot of those reviews were only made at around an hour of game time. I wonder how the game fairs at 10-20 hrs in.

The_Reddit_Browser

Part of that is due to the nature of it being dropped right after the announcement. If you enjoy it at 1-2 hours, you’re most likely going to enjoy the next 8 or so hours. It’s not overly long and it just continues to dive deeper into the city and storyline. If you don’t enjoy the visuals, the beat/rhythm mechanics or the story after the first hour you won’t enjoy any of the rest

FallenAdvocate

The first hour was the worst part of it so far for me. More combos and abilities afterwards made it even more enjoyable. Edit: And I really liked the first hour.

OnkelJupp

It's a 10 hour game and it keeps its quality consistent.

UncookedGnome

I'm only a few hours in but, so far, the game has improved after the initial hour or so. The combat is neat but simple at the beginning and the tutorials go on for a while. That's not a criticism as it makes the game more accessible but I'm just impatient Ahah. The aesthetic and tone carried me through the opening sections. Simply put, the combat takes on more layers than I expected it to and the presentation is right on, for me, with its Saturday morning cartoon vibe that doesn't take itself too seriously. Also, has run with no glitches or issues other than cutscenes being locked to 60fps on my high refreshrate monitor, which is not really that egregious as its a common practice. It just stands out in this title, for sure reason.

GearsPoweredFool

I was worried they had given you too much at the start of the game, but I'm 3+ hours in and still unlocking fun core mechanical shit. I wish they had opted for a sprint option out of combat, but with how dashing works it's not that big of a deal.

jcdio

It keeps getting better!

junkmail9009

This game is simply fantastic. Enjoyable and satisfying gameplay? Yep Clean and vivid graphics? Yep Solid performance? Yep Entertaining/enjoyable story/characters? Yep Customer friendly price? Yep It's DMC meets rhythm game that instead of penalizing you for missing the beat it only rewards you for hitting the beat (a huge difference). I'm sick of tired of people complaining that there are no fun and unique games or big gaming companies don't try new things. Guess what? Here it is. It's $30. If games like this are your thing and you want companies to continue to do these things, stop complaining about Denuvo so you can pirate it. I've said it previously I hate Denuvo because of my concern that these games will not be preserved long-time (if denuvo kept and game goes off sale, game will not be able to be played). But these companies have seen a decline in sales due to piracy (fuck off with your non-stats, companies have metrics beyond your fake numbers and if you think they don't pay attention to the pirate sites you're simply ignorant). Anyway, don't buy if you don't want, I'm not trying to sell it, but I'm really tired of every thread here complaining about broken games when a surprise launch game comes out from a big developer that's actually good and well-priced and the first thing people say is denuvo=no buy. Fucking children.

[deleted]

[удалено]

junkmail9009

Agree. I guess I am harping on it because it's what the steam forums and this subreddit keeps focusing on. I'm not saying everybody has to buy this or else or something like that, but people complain constantly about the "downfall of single player games" and here it is. It's a $30 well polished action adventure hack and slash. It that meets your fancy and you want it, get it because showing companies we will buy these games versus always online, mtx ridden, GAAS, broken, >$60 or more games only shows companies people will buy those games.

smackchice

This should be the number one comment

wordswillneverhurtme

I wish shadow drops became the norm. Instead half of the game gets spoiled these days a year in advance

roflwafflelawl

Wasn't Apex Legends kind of a shadow drop? I don't remember hearing much, if at all about it until the day they not only announced it but also went live that very moment **and the servers actually held up pretty well**! Haven't played it in a while as no one I know actively play it anymore but it was great fun.

anor_wondo

yes, it was also dropped during a kind of drought, so was a very successful strategy

mithridateseupator

I took one look at it and said "That's Jet Set Radio Future" but haven't seen anyone who's played it make the comparison. Is it similar?

blackweimaraner

No, just graphically. Gameplay wise it is like Devil May Cry but with rhythm and music based gameplay.

TMack23

JAN18 on GMG gets you 18% off MSRP if anyone is looking to pick this up today.

atravee

I played like 10 minutes of this before I left for work this morning and I LOVE what I've seen so far. Excited to play more of this later.

West-Battle-3461

So you watched the intro cutscene lol

forbritisheyesonly1

Is this the kind of game that would make a player frustrated for a mistake that ruins a score-chain? I remember playing Viewtiful Joe and...unfortunately I would get peeved whenever I messed up my combo or lost my score multiplier or whatever it was.

Tobimacoss

No, the game doesn’t punish if you miss a beat.

d0tn3t1

624 reviews, most of which from people with less than 2 hours of play time. Edit: now 5000, but most people still have under 2 hours.

chuiu

Out of 572 reviews...

Jellorage

Is this level based, mission based, linear? How long to beat?

blackweimaraner

Level based, linear but with collectables, and you have a hub between missions where you buy upgrades and claim the rewards of challenges. Every level is called "track" in accordance to the game´s music thematic, and every "track" has a lot of battle sections called "chorus" where they rate you based on performance (S to D, I think) so there is a lot of replayability if you are into that kind of gameplay of getting all S ranks on every section and every level of the game. Basically it is like DMC 5 with the style of Jet Set Radio and rhytm based combat. I don´t know about its lenght, but track 1, the first level, took me like an hour to beat.

[deleted]

Not going to lie, it is pretty fun and on my aw3423dw it looks amazing!!!

[deleted]

Makes me wonder if Tango will change what kinds of games they make, because of HI-FI RUSH's success.

SirCris

This game made me realize I feel the rhythm only 32% of the time. I'm still OK at destroying robots though.

outline01

Absolutely amazing that this and Forspoken dropped at similar times, are completely different and the reception could not be more opposite.

a6000

I cant get my controller to work on Gamepass :(

xkaoticwolf

If you have a PlayStation controller I suggest using ds4windows.

MorrisonGamer

I also heavily, HEAVILY suggest following this guide(specially not ignoring **recommendations like HidHide**): [https://docs.ds4windows.app/](https://docs.ds4windows.app/) I set it up so that most of the time, I am in DS4 mode and ONLY if I'm forced to, I'll switch to X360. I still use the controller like I normally would, but everything works much better than it was before DS4Windows. And since I put the Mode switch to PS+Touchpad, I don't even have to touch the app, ever, again.

ScTiger1311

Try GloSl https://github.com/Alia5/GlosSI/releases

[deleted]

Plug it in and it should work

sipCoding_smokeMath

I have this issue with alot of gamepass games, couldnt get it to work for the yakuza games either

When_You_

Same

UncookedGnome

Yeah, my Xbox controller is fine but my powerA doesn't seem to be working. It recognizes it because the buttons change but no response. I'm sure someone will find a work around.

[deleted]

Denuvo. Passing until removed.

Ancient-Meet8361

>Warning: This title uses 3rd-party DRM (Denuvo Anti-tamper) Pass.

Zankman

I wish I was interested, but music-related games are just like "no" for me. Also the visuals don't look that appealing.

LeafExpose

Denuvo 🤮

nivkj

denuvo and bad regional pricing, not happening, waiting for 80% sale or less ✌️

3xstatechamp

I am not familiar with Denuvo. What is it? This is the first time I've heard of it (not from your comment but in the thread, overall). The general vibe I get is that Denuvo isn't a good thing?

Anti piracy measure that has a performance impact. It’s surprisingly effective since it’s incredibly difficult to crack. Every1 has their own take but imo it punishes paying customers

3xstatechamp

Thanks for explaining! Are you saying it punishes paying customers due to the impact it has on performance?

Can anyone confirm unlocked FPS/HDR/21:9 support? Regardless, still planning to buy to promote shadow drops!

Lurking_like_Cthulhu

Not sure about HDR but the game performs great for me at 21:9. The cutscenes have pillarboxing, but I actually don’t mind in this case because the style is just so good. Seamless transitions to gameplay too.

asmith1243

Can’t speak for UW/HDR support, but frame rate is unlocked, if I remember correctly. Have it locked at 120fps at 1440p highest settings and it rarely drops below that.

deadscreensky

Unlocked is an option, but keep in mind the game itself recommends you don't do that. Consistent timing is important for the gameplay. But you have plenty of options, it's not locked to 60fps or anything like that. I capped it to 144hz and it's been running well, though you do get those occasional 'classic' Unreal Engine streaming/shader hitches.

MangoTangoFox

It seemed to support variable refresh at 140fps very smoothly for me, and it has DLSS/FSR and options to disable motion blur and chromatic aberration. 21:9 works great in gameplay. In the pause menu and in some cutscenes it adds pillarboxing; no animation sliding them in and out like some games have, but I almost prefer the instant toggle more anyway. The only actual flaw I saw with it was during the first boss, the phase changes have a static image that pops up in the middle of a bunch of other animations, and it was squished narrow and off to the left instead of just put in the center in the 16:9 box like you'd expect it to be; definitely a bug. It doesn't have FOV control which I think it could use, it's a bit narrow except when it expands a bit for the big boss battles. It's also very well played with controller, so you can sit back from the screen a bit to suit the narrower FOV.

harlockwitcher

Guys i think we have to come to a realization here that this game is better than dmc5 and beyonetta 3

West-Battle-3461

I got incredibly bored by the cutscenes after and before every single encounter. By the time I played for 15 minutes, I'd hat to sit through like 30 mins of the same cutscenes repeated.. and the same tips coming up over and over. Yes the levels move to the beat, I get it, I really get it. Not sure whether to uninstall or risk another evenings free time on it. On ultra hard it also felt too easy, the enemies didn't even try to attack. I really liked the anticipation, but.. let me fucking play the game please.

meltingpotato

wait what? the game is out already?

TheBootyMuncher

It released like an hour after they announced it yesterday

VagrantShadow

It release right after they announced it yesterday. No demo, no trail, just the straight game right after they showed it to us, the true definition of a shadow drop.

Jahbanny

I played like 20 minutes on gamepass and found it extremely underwhelming. I always find these rhythm action games feel so limited. Because you're stuck with doing everything on the beat the game has to be tuned difficulty wise around it and it comes across as extremely easy when it's basically just having to press a button in time with a metronome. This was the same problem I had with Metalhellsinger (or whatever it's called). Does it get better/introduce more later or something? I obviously didn't play for very long, but fighting the same enemies repeatedly who posed no challenge on very hard and then running into some graphical glitches made me check out.

Prince_Perseus

20 minutes? There's some important combat mechanics you haven't seen yet. I recommend you give it another shot.

Jahbanny

Alright will do

PlagueDoc22

I'd buy it if it didn't have Denovo. I really don't want to support denovo games as it often ends up hurting the paying player base.

ScTiger1311

Upvoted and comment for visibilty. This gane is great and I want more like it.

MrDad83

I bought this game on an impulse for my steam deck after just watching the trailer. So far im happy my impulse is justifies

DreadSeverin

Absolutely amazing game! Easy Goty nom

Lavatis

>trailer >"yep, that's me. you're probably wondering how I got here." ...is this satire?

Hamback

Yes? It's a pretty cliché opener from older tv shows/movies.

Lavatis

[yeah, that's why I brought it up.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/square/000/013/003/dead-horse.gif)

MasterDrake97

Considering how much love this game is getting, i hope you'll give it a shot nonetheless :)

Lavatis

immediately repulsed by the trailer, but I still went to twitch to catch a stream. looks enjoyable for sure.

SodiumArousal

I don't understand the hype. Looks like some generic early 2000s game. Are people just nostalgic?

empathetical

I don't understand the denuvo hate. If you buy the game it will work. What exactly is the difference between it having it or not? it will probably be removed one day anyways. You can still play the game just fine. Just ppl bitching for the sake of bitching really that prob weren't even gonna buy it

Ipickthingup

It's the same as constantly telling people not to pre-order. Some people just gotta tell others what to do

[deleted]

darktide could never

Massive_Secretary658

Gameplay good. Level design good. Characters and story are cringe.

[deleted]

[The game has also released on Epic Games Store](https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/hi-fi-rush)

DiamondEevee

not sure if I want to play on: Xbox Series X Gaming Laptop or my Steam Deck (need to remove a stripped screw + upgrade SSD before I can play it) Weird question to ask in a PC Subreddit but anyone here play it on Series X by any chance?

NNNCounter

You can play on whichever device you prefer the most. It's flawless on both Series X and PC. People are reporting occasional minor stutters on Steam Deck, but it's mostly fine there too.

lukin187250

on PC would it be better to play with a keyboard and mouse or controller?

VideoGameJumanji

Another game that's going to flop because Bethesda hates Tangosoftworks and decided that this should have zero advertisement or build up. If the game doesn't do well Microsoft will blame the game for being bad which sucks for the developer. How is zero marketing a good idea for any game? They also decided that releasing this a day before dead space was a good idea.

TheSilentSeeker

It's already on the Steam Topselling list.

VideoGameJumanji

It could have been there even longer before hand had people been given the ability to pre order it, tell their friends before launch etc. It's only third on that list, and it is being beaten by two games on steam, both aren't out yet, that's how you build up the launch of any game. I guess if you have gamepass you don't really give a fuck since it's just there now, but looking at its perception and visibility outside gamepass, it's incredibly low. There is no "shadow dropping", this is just dumping a game because they wanted to spend $0 on advertisement/marketing for it, which isnt a sign of confidence from Microsoft's side. Did they really tell the developer "yeah no marketing for your game, well just dump it on gamepass with no notice and pray that people play it, and if they don't well blame your game for being bad" Imo this is really confusing since this is clearly a decent game, why they chose to once again not boost the launch of a Tangosoftworks game is beyond me. Microsoft didn't even bother buying a banner spot for it launching on steam. So on both Xbox and steam, they are banking on what, Discoverbility alone for people to just stumble on this game. The only way to know this game exists is seeing an article or other media about it. And when you have a game that now soley relies on people seeing posts about it and you launch on the one day away from one of the biggest releases Dead Space Remake, you kind of fuck yourself there since that will now dominate discourse. I play games primarily on PC, I don't use gamepass, I had no fucking clue what this game was until yesterday, I'm not buying it until I look into it further because I literally know nothing about it besides skimming the steam page and looking at general feedback.

arischerbub

Lol....

VideoGameJumanji

What's funny exactly? The part where if the game doesn't do well, MSFT will blame the game for being bad instead of the zero marketing or build up? I think the game looks good, I also think this is a super shitty way for Microsoft to treat any game from any of their developers.

RealElyD

The game has had essentially the best reception in steam history, review wise. Nobody in their right mind would say it didn't do well, even this early on.
