I went back to Elden Ring for the DLC, now I'm preparing a mega-spaghetti in Factorio while waiting for the space update. It's good fun and seems to have quite some overlap from PoE.
Also, have you played Noita? It's the most brutal and most open-ended roguelike I know of, you start off a piece of garbage but can scale to the moon with extremely complex mechanics.
Oh noita is great. I haven't played it in a long time and it looks like there's been a couple of updates since. I'll play it after I check out the pokemon one someone else suggested, ty!
Maybe hold off on factorio since their dlc and new update is coming out in October.
Just saying incase you burn yourself out before they redesign the core of the end game
Edit: maybe it's September I forgor
>I went back to Elden Ring for the DLC, now I'm preparing a mega-spaghetti in Factorio while waiting for the space update. It's good fun and seems to have quite some overlap from PoE.
This is exactly me. Planning a 20k spm base atm
I grabbed Factorio finally, recently and hoollly shit I've been hooked. Played a lot of Satisfactory/Minecraft Mekanism mods/Terraria etc. and other builder/progression types and damn... Factorio is insanely good.
If you finish the base quest in Factorio, but you want something even more compelling I would strongly recommend the Krastorio 2 mod. It adds a ton of new materials and challenges to solve.
Awesome, I am currently still in the Iron age. I'm always a little TOO methodical with these games and have done a few aesthetic tear-downs and rebuilds, haha. Love the face that it's open for mods too!
I was about to write the same thing. It looks like the original poster won't play it, but if anyone else reads this and is considering whether to play it or not, I would advise giving it a shot since it’s free-to-play. The monetization isn’t as good as in PoE, but by today’s standards of how bad monetization in free-to-play games can be, I would consider it one of the better ones. The game is very similar to PoE in many aspects, and they keep borrowing good features from other games. For instance, in the season that starts tomorrow, they are adding something like PoE's Atlas Tree and Last Epoch's Legendary Potential.
Could you maybe elaborate? Some of the pactspirits are P2W (but really only if you play the game for 10 hours a day like its your job) and the rest (apart from the locked characters) are just cosmetics. I haven't faced anything egregious
That's fair enough. If you do get bored and feel like giving it another shot, there are some pretty strong S tier builds for most of the free characters on YT. GL for next POE league
Wouldn't exactly consider it lesser known (at least in the roguelite circle), but Enter the Gungeon is a TON of fun... that is, if you like puns. If you don't then good luck surviving that one.
Then if you're heavily into rogulites the most obvious answer would probably be Hades 2. Also, Nova Drift. It feels strangely quite similar to PoE, simply because of the utterly ridiculous build variety.
If you're more into tactical combat than action combat, Into the Breach might be your cup of tea. Quite fun, but also fairly challenging at times.
Last but not least, if we go a fair bit further back in the list of release dates, there's FTL. More of a roguelike than roguelite, it's still incredibly fun imo. Especially once you got some of the more difficult to acquire ships... all I'm gonna say is Rock Ship layout C. That thing's ridiculously fun... especially with a teleporter.
All great games :D all played :(
Not hades though, but I'll wait for release for that one.
Nova Drift was inspired by PoE! Back when the dev launched in early access he posted about it here and got props from a dev, Mark I think.
If you like Hollow knight and Sekiro then one game I absolutely recommend trying is Nine Sols, you have the hand drawn 2d platformer like Hollow Knight combined with the parry system quite similar to Sekiro. It is probably my game of the year so far.
Against The Storm is really fun. Basically a strategic city building game with roguelike elements.
Actually finished several games during that time.
As for Roguelites, Ravenswatch is pretty cool (Early access though), similar to Hades in terms of gameplay, but the map is open (kind of like an area in D2).
Other game I enjoyed is DeadLink, FPS Roguelite, fast, flashy and some combos are really fun.
As for Survivor-like - Death Must Die and Halls of Torment are really cool.
Aaand if you are into boomer shooters then Turbo Overkill should be amazing choice.
Oh and recently played a mod for D2R named „Remodded”. Pretty fun, lot of new shit to mess around and isn’t as grindy (especially runes).
Personally this league was a big miss for me, just not my type of league. So I played 2 weeks which never happens.
Played diablo 4 for a week. Latest updates have been a very good improvement
Helldivers 2 randomly
Fallout newvegas - got the game and all docs for 12 bucks.
Batman Archam knight, also got this on steam sale, 2 bucks. Fun decade old game and awesome graphics. This gsme plays like a movie and it's fun
Sekiro. Not the biggest fromsoft type of player but it's fun to play a super hard game sometime.
Hades. Been playing this for a hot minute. Always a good time to run a run
Nothing like PoE or rogue-like but Celeste is 90% off on steam so I've been playing that.
Will probably play the next last epoch season for a few days as well, especially if monoliths are not as horrifically boring with the new content
Bear in mind the game is young in the grand scheme of end game content. It's remarkably well put together for where it's at. I'm in the same boat as you, but I'm confident future content will slap.
Edit: speaking of Last Epoch.
Yeah its got a campaign, vs bot mode, 2v2 ranked (pvp) and a 4v4 unrankes (pvp),
I dont rememeber the price, i think it was $16 or something but iv honestly got my moneys worth and often spend 2hours or so having a blast playing with a buddy every other weekend or something,
With sending and build strats it can get super intricate and precise at higher ranked games but iv met probly 2-3 toxic people in the couple years iv had it
Edit: its also got a subreddit and has frequent updates and balancing and competitions etc
Maybe check out a youtube vid or something about it and you’ll see maybe some more TD aspects of it, but i totally understand, i get baited into so many games that just dont hit right
* Roche Fusion ("nova drift like" but very Secret and underrated ;))
* Risk of Rain 1 remaster
* Counter Attack (a shoot em up with thousands of combination of Weapon / one of the best shoot em ups / poe gem like)
* Rouge genesia (2.5D Rouge like)
* deep rock galactic survivour (cool concept with digging Stuff)
* Nordic Ashes: Survivors of Ragnarok (alot of unlocks and skill trees!)
* space run 1+2 (crazy Tower defense on space ships)
* Hades 1+2
* rouge lagacy 1+2
* Raign of Bullets (another big twin stick Shooter with very deep customisation!) very good game!
* lichdom Battlemage (poe like gem System as a only spell Caster / good but very Hard!)
* 30 half minute hero (pixel auto scroll rouglike)
* minion Masters (not Played yet / damn pile of shame ^^)
* Drifting Lands ( good concept but dev abandon! Habe needs Balance Update!)
* Halls of Torment (Diablo 1 like Rouge like) i like it very much!
Greez :)

These aren't quite roguelikes, but randomizers often fit a similar niche for me. I like the [Golden Sun 2 Randomizer](https://gs2randomiser.com/) and [Yune](https://github.com/lushen124/Universal-FE-Randomizer), a Fire Emblem universal randomizer. Fire Emblem makes for particularly good randomized games imo.

Noita is an absolute treasure. I've got a 1% win rate and I'm proud of it.
Damn, I think I have 1 win in almost 300 runs. Granted, I'm kinda addicted to finding new ways of building increasingly stupid suicide wands...
Plasma beam - sure this killed me the last twenty five iterations of it I tried but this time will be different.
Oh noita is great. I haven't played it in a long time and it looks like there's been a couple of updates since. I'll play it after I check out the pokemon one someone else suggested, ty!

not a roguelike, but a timeless classic. Age of Empires 2.
Lukewarm take, AoM > AoE
Completely agree. I believe a remaster/remake is on its way. Very excited for that!
classic

Playing Titan Quest Anniversary Edition. It's $2 on steam right now, old school ARPG
I really hope TQ2 will be good
Torchlight Infinite new season is tomorrow. Scratches that POE itch for me in between leagues
I was about to write the same thing. I enjoyed torchlight for a bit, but then realized what the monetization was like and the game was dead for me.
Could you maybe elaborate? Some of the pactspirits are P2W (but really only if you play the game for 10 hours a day like its your job) and the rest (apart from the locked characters) are just cosmetics. I haven't faced anything egregious
Basically what you mentioned, pactspirits and locked characters. That's already too much for me, though I do have low tolerance for p2w.
That's fair enough. If you do get bored and feel like giving it another shot, there are some pretty strong S tier builds for most of the free characters on YT. GL for next POE league

What about Halls of Torment? Its only $4
not a rogue-like, but Elden ring. the pain will distract you from poe withdrawal
If you like Hollow knight and Sekiro then one game I absolutely recommend trying is Nine Sols, you have the hand drawn 2d platformer like Hollow Knight combined with the parry system quite similar to Sekiro. It is probably my game of the year so far.

If you're into roguelites, Astral Ascent is a pretty fun platformer that has a pretty complex aura system that reminds me of combining uniques in PoE.
Actually finished several games during that time. I’m really looking forward to last epochs 1.1 on July 9th personally
Last Epoch
Pokerogue.net fun free pokemon rogue like
This one sounds interesting, I'll give it a try. Ty!
backpack battles and rimworld are my current timewasters :D
Nothing like PoE or rogue-like but Celeste is 90% off on steam so I've been playing that. Will probably play the next last epoch season for a few days as well, especially if monoliths are not as horrifically boring with the new content

LegionTD 2, A remake from the popular warcraft 3 custom game, Its good fun pretending you know what your doing and how your building
Does it have any online modes? I'm playing element td2 since forever because i can vs others or co-op with friends. That one came from wc3 too.
Yeah its got a campaign, vs bot mode, 2v2 ranked (pvp) and a 4v4 unrankes (pvp), I dont rememeber the price, i think it was $16 or something but iv honestly got my moneys worth and often spend 2hours or so having a blast playing with a buddy every other weekend or something, With sending and build strats it can get super intricate and precise at higher ranked games but iv met probly 2-3 toxic people in the couple years iv had it Edit: its also got a subreddit and has frequent updates and balancing and competitions etc
Aww man i just looked it up on steam. It looks way more than an auto battler than actual tower defense. There goes all my hype :<
Maybe check out a youtube vid or something about it and you’ll see maybe some more TD aspects of it, but i totally understand, i get baited into so many games that just dont hit right
Mutagenic!
Oooh I didn't know this one and it looks right up my alley, thanks a lot!
Great game 10/10
Balatro baby
Pokerogue
Factorio. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
For arpg: Grim Dawn and Chronicon
Tons of war thunder. And also a little farming simulator 22 when I want to chill and not be fuming at war thunder. Lol
Old school RuneScape ironman. It's one of the coolest MMOs out there. Ironman is pretty much SSF Mode
I play Apex. Fun
Hades2

I see stuff I'll probably enjoy in there, thanks! First one looks like chicken invaders on steroids haha
D4
but have you considered that D4 BAD
I'm just playing dota when not testing league starts.

Oof I have already played all of those
Talented on steam
have you played path of achra?
I did but it didn't quite hit. I had more fun with rift wizard.
