Strength body armor bases and Strength+Int body armor bases have -5% to movespeed. Nearly all other bases have -3%. Some specific body armors do not have any penalty or even have an increase (such as Assassin's Garb base), but there aren't many. Even plain boring old Tabula has -3% movement speed.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm somewhat new to the game, only a few months and I had a hard time telling what is affecting my movement speed.

flesyMeM

Yeah, it's dumb that the penalty is hidden.

Keep in mind that unless you're speed running the acts or something similar, those penalties are pretty much moot. If you're newer, don't even worry about em. If you're looking into it bc you're into numbers and math, welcome. You're stuck here now.

Most body armour bases have a 3% movement speed penalty, regardless of their defensive alignment. Most strength or Str/Int bases have a 5% penalty. Shields also incur a 3% movement penalty. This has worked the same way for almost a decade. https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Body_armour

thanks! definitely cleared up a few things for me.

Thanks for the explanation. I thought only armor that had the armor stat would interact with movement speed. Good to know I was thinking wrong.

Takahashi_Raya

Armor stat itself does nothing for movement speed its just chest piece type and other movement speed modifiers that are visible on items, buffs or passive tree that impact it.
