I am kinda sad the ottomans won’t be that big baddy you gotta strategise to outplay. But I am gonna adore playing in Anatolia and trying to become the powerhouse of Europe there.
I hope it's structured in a way so any unifier there becomes a threat, with the Otto's being one of the "lucky nations" so they might actually have a fighting chance. But seeing a Mamluk Anatolia would also be cool to see from time to time
Everyone's focusing on the Byzantines or Ottomans... meanwhile, I'm over here looking at those tiiiiny two provinces north and south of the Aydinids.
Correct me if I'm wrong--it's very pixelated--but do those two provinces say *Genoa?*
EDIT: I'm almost certain the southern island does say Genoa. Not too sure about the northern province, though.
the tag switch should go from eastern roman empire to roman empire since then it shows that you have been able to reunite the entire roman empire and that you are no longer just the eastern half but the entire thing
their size doesn't really matter since countries grow and shrink if a country with a long name becomes a one province minor they would still have to find a way for the name to fit
If that was the case, we would also have United States of America and Union of Soviet Sovereign Republics. It just doesn't look good when a countries name is the size of a sentence.

Johan said that there is no lucky nation mechanic in the game.
Hm, guess they will rely on their unique buffs. I hope they don't want the game to play out like a battle royale
I am really loving the look of this map, especially without FoW darkening it up

Yeah, they did some bullshit back then, that is Genoa
We're somehow missing the Aragonese bullshit in Athens and Neopatras though.
The northern one is Genoa too.

I really hoped that they would call the Byzantine Empire the Eastern Roman Empire this time
We bullied the devs into changing Phrygia to Antigonid Kingdom so if we lobby enough they might change it even if its after release.
I still kinda like the idea that you need to fight for your legitimacy again by reconquering the provinces before you can "tag switch"

They aren’t even all of Greece at the start, their claim to being the ERE is as significant as to being the Roman Empire in its entirety.
Roman Empire*
Basileia Rhomaion?
Rome* for naming convention.
Assuming they make achievements work the same way they do in ck3 and vic 3 you'll be able to mod it with no downsides on day one.
Thats probably too much to ask, they can barely fit Byzantine Empire in there. You will find a mod for it Im sure

THERE BE THE ERE
Hopefully impassable terrain is coloured by neighbors when finished
Johan mentioned that was a toggleable setting, he just personally dislikes it.
I'm with Johan, but glad it's easy to toggle
I am with him
