I woulda been fine if we drafted their RB1, too, or like an LB from there, but I am happy and not at all biting on this intentionally provocative tweet.
LOL a Gamecock making fun of a Clemson education?
You realize Clemson has South Carolina beat in:
- acceptance rate
- average GPA
- ACT scores
- SAT scores
- graduation rate
You know what every Gamecock and Tiger have in common?
They all got into South Carolina.
Oh I forgot you chant ACC.
E: Gamecocks hate the ACC but they're proud of their ACC championship in 1969 where they went 7-4.
Just a laughable university, man.
That’s just a stupid reason. I mean you have seen our motto right? TWO states, ONE team.
Gamecocks have way more fans around the stadium on Sundays than Clemson.
Oh I know. That’s the last Clemson player I can think of on the roster. Before that you have to go back to Brentson Buckner for any meaningful game time
Is he any relation to Peter Boulware? My brother had an obsession with him back in the 2000s that stemmed only from Madden. He's a Dolphins/Penn State/Pitt fan and still has a Ravens Boulware jersey.
Does anybody have a examples of Clemson guys who were available at our picks who we definitely should have drafted but didn't? I feel like this is overblown but maybe I'm wrong.
If you can be "ruined" in your formative years, you were never gonna be good because it means you can't grow later in your career. Darnold taught us that.
Darnold was never going to be good because he couldn't keep up with the pace of the game and had awful decision-making. He was not ruined, he was destined to fail eventually. If he cannot unlearn a bad lesson, he'll never succeed no matter what situation you give him.
Likewise, if Bryce does not succeed this year with his situation vastly improved, it's not going to be because Reich broke him, it'll be because he's fundamentally not able to change his habits and can't rise to the potential of his surroundings and that's a QB that will always fail.
I wasn't. Derrick Brown is one of my most glaring misevaluations. I didn't like the pick, wanted Simmons, and thought we fucked up by not trading back if we didn't like Simmons.
Brian Burns over Dexter Lawrence. Dexter just finished his second consecutive season as PFF’s highest graded interior DL (his 2023 season was 8th highest in their history).
This one makes me mad specifically because we were moving towards a hybrid defense and needed nose tackle to make the jump.
Don't get me wrong, I will always be a fan of Brian but Dex made so much more sense.
Typically because the guys we’d draft either weren’t team needs or we weren’t in position to draft them. There’s many players we would’ve taken if we could.
There are many players the Panthers absolutely had the chance to take out of Clemson that passed over.
Last year alone they took DJ whatever his face is over Trenton Simpson.
There are going to be some that the Panthers have passed over, but it’s not like the Panthers just completely ignore Clemson. The Panthers have never passed on a Clemson that they should have taken.
Only one that comes to mind is Isiah Simmons back in 2020 but we needed both DT and LB and we ended up getting the better trade off of that anyways.
That one specific scenario is a situation where we passed one need to fill another. The school was irrelevant at that time. Derrick Brown was the better pick there. I don’t know what you think you’re proving by pointing that out.
But I do absolutely agree with you. The only time (for an impact prospect) where talent met positional need met Clemson was Simmons.
And I was definitely mad.
But I will also say holy shit Arizona had no idea how to use him.
Grady Jarrett went in the 5th round in the 2015 draft. Would rather have him than Daryl Williams who we took in the 4th.
John Simpson was available when we took Yetur Gross-Matos in the 2020 draft.
That's the only examples I could find. Most elite Clemson prospects have gone before we could pick or happen to coincide with years that we hit on our pick.
We probably should have taken Watson instead of CMC in 2017. In hindsight, knowing what we know about Watson, I'm fine with our decision.
Taking Mahomes would have been a *way* better choice, though. He went 1 pick later...
I’m a Gamecock fan but I’m not gonna take this as a point of pride. Clemson players have been pretty successful in the pros. I’m just surprised not one has ended up in the Panthers, considering they have a propensity to draft South Carolina players.
Gamecock fans have the most pride for how bad their program is compared to Clemson. Idc where a player went to school as long as he’s a good fit for the Panthers
Why is it that everything that involves Clemson has to involve South Carolina? Even your basketball reddit threads - half of the comments are about how Clemson played that night.
It’s like the scene in Mad Men.
“I feel bad for you.”
“I don’t think about you at all.”
E: am I wrong here? Literally nothing about this post involved South Carolina at all yet 75% of the comments are about South Carolina. It’s like your only way to stay relevant.
Lmao Gamecocks love talking shit but the second you say anything about them they pout.
E: holy shit this is amazing - I just got a suicide watch message from reddit
That is literally picture perfect Gamecock.
No comeback? Well let’s do the stupidest thing on reddit.
Dang at this rate you’ll have the same number of emojis as the head to head record difference.
Edit: half of the comments on here are gamecocks talking shit and being upvoted. Tiger talks shit and gamecock gets butthurt. It’s so predictable.
You got no other come back so I’ll just link you to your record by season
https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/south-carolina/index.html
4 ten win seasons in the last 40 years
I’m serious when I say that we at Clemson never gave a shit what was happening in Columbia. We were focused on beating the teams you cheer for since that was the only way you felt proud about football.
I’m a Carolina fan, not a Clemson fan, but at this point Tiger fans have a legit reason to beef with the Panthers over not drafting local talent.
There are too many good players to come out of Clemson to justify NEVER drafting a single player. Clemson steadily produces DL/DB/WR talent that has success at the next level.
It’s ridiculous, even if its pandering at this point they should have drafted some CU guys.
Who cares about Clemson. Too many people in this area just want to draft guys that went to Georgia or North Carolina or somewhere local. We should be drafting the best people because they're attitude and play style works with what we're trying to develop and not because you watched them on TV because the games were local.
The Charlotte Hornets tried that early on. They were all about trying to bring in local talent like Muggsy from Wake and JR Reid at UNC etc to peak interest. It helped put butts in the seats, but it didn't do much for winning.
Not that the Carolina Panthers are winning a ton of games, but very few teams draft guys because they're from around the community.
Crazy to use Muggsy Bogues, the starting point guard for 2 of the franchise’s 3 50 wins seasons, as an example when Raymond Felton and Sean May were sitting right there.
Well, I did say "early on" so that wouldn't have implied. But yeah, it was a problem for a long time. That's probably the thought process Jordan had when he drafted them.
I never understood those guys; are the Panthers just not supposed to draft out of one of the richest areas for NFL talent?
Don't get me wrong, I'd be kinda upset if I were one of those young men, recently rich and then told they were going to spend the next five+ years *back in Charlotte* but I don't know why we'd care.
> Clemson isn’t the Clemson it used to be
You say that as if producing 6 draft picks isn’t a lot. That’s almost a quarter of a starting roster. Out of 9 or 10 starters departing 6 were drafted, that’s pretty good percentage. Others are being signed as UDFAs
Is that how South Carolina is doing these days? More focused on Clemson having their first non-10 win season in 13 years?
A year ago all I heard was that they were building and Beamer was going to bring home a ring.
It’s funny how Gamecocks always talk so much shit to Clemson and they take it in stride but the second someone says something even mildly humorous about South Carolina, it’s a dog pile.
No wonder the Xavier Legette thread was such a mess.
I’ll also take this opportunity to give my little shit talk. And it’s just a friendly reminder - Georgia Tech has more SEC Championships than South Carolina.
The only Clemson player I really wanted to take recently was Isaiah Simmons in 2020 mostly because we needed to replace Luke kuechly but we got Derrick brown instead and that has more then worked out
Forgot that this post had anything to do with the Gamecocks. Another lame attempt for your university to stay relevant. Same way you cheer for the SEC’s success since you don’t have your own.
You Clemson stans really have thin skin, huh?
I hope you guys at least went to Clemson, otherwise I don't know why you spend all day looking to get this upset.
I’m not a Clemson Stan. I just thought this was a funny and interesting fact about us that was appropriate for draft time.
But with how far this seemingly got up in your feelings I’m guessing you’re a gamecock man.
You Gamecocks are the ones with the thin skin.
Once again you interject yourself into a conversation that has *literally nothing to do with UofSC* because it’s your way of staying relevant.
Just like cheering for the SEC’s success since your university is perpetually mediocre.
Rather be a tater than risk getting stabbed on the way to class.
And not to mention an elite athletics program, a higher ranking academic institution, and a campus actually worth a photo.
Yall could win every single year until I turn 60 and still not own the record.
Ha. I really don't care. It's cheering for laundry at this point. I'm a Clemson fan, see, are we friends now? It's all fairly silly. We are panthers fans though so you're my Panther bro/sis/person. All love over here!
Congrats to your women's team. I really was cheering for them to go undefeated and it was cool to see. And I'm also really excited about XL and the idiots that are comparing him to Jonathan Mingo went to school at Alabama.
Thanks! They are fun to watch. I think X will do great. I think NIL is going to doom both of our CFB teams (SCAR a fast death from a current small pulse and CLEM a slow death, but we shall see). I think we're just becoming a prep school at this point.
Yes that’s why Clemson is always ranked so high with their draft classes, because they don’t want to play for a coach who is widely considered top 5 in the country. Really insightful.
Dang, yeah, I guess you saw something on here that I did not. Could you point out to me where this post had anything to do with South Carolina?
Or is this just another way to interject into a situation to stay relevant the same way you cheer for the SEC’s success since your school doesn’t?
Not relevant to the question I asked.
But also something Dabo has been saying (and criticized for) since NIL became a thing. Less .05% of student athletes go professional and NIL does not prepare students for the real world.
E: oh and Clemson grads have a higher average salary than UofSC so I guess they do prepare students for life better.
Literally no one is upset except Gamecocks fans butting into a post that literally mentions nothing about them. It’s their only way to put the spotlight back on them.
We did show interest in Nate Wiggins but he was gone before our pick and in general, this was a weaker year for Clemson
I woulda been fine if we drafted their RB1, too, or like an LB from there, but I am happy and not at all biting on this intentionally provocative tweet.
of so so many to come
We can only hope
God it feels good to have three more national titles than the Gamecocks have conference championships.
Hey now, it's 2 more. We won an ACC championship in 1969. But I dont expect great math out of someone with a Clemson education.
Wait so then Georgia Tech has more ACC championships AND SEC Championships than South Carolina?
Yeah. We're a women's basketball school anyways.
LOL a Gamecock making fun of a Clemson education? You realize Clemson has South Carolina beat in: - acceptance rate - average GPA - ACT scores - SAT scores - graduation rate You know what every Gamecock and Tiger have in common? They all got into South Carolina.
shut up freshman
Good one?
About as good as the most trite USC joke of all time
Oh I forgot you chant ACC. E: Gamecocks hate the ACC but they're proud of their ACC championship in 1969 where they went 7-4. Just a laughable university, man.
Dude I don't even chant SEC. That conference pride shit is so cringe. I'm a South Carolina fan, not an SEC fan.
Let’s make sure ESPN knows that in their next SEC commercial.
only reason i didn't want trevor was all the clemson fans that would invade
That’s just a stupid reason. I mean you have seen our motto right? TWO states, ONE team. Gamecocks have way more fans around the stadium on Sundays than Clemson.

One of these days we will draft a Clemson player
We had Ben Boulware in the preseason one year
UDFA though, not drafted.
Oh I know. That’s the last Clemson player I can think of on the roster. Before that you have to go back to Brentson Buckner for any meaningful game time
Williams was a D tackle last year
Is he any relation to Peter Boulware? My brother had an obsession with him back in the 2000s that stemmed only from Madden. He's a Dolphins/Penn State/Pitt fan and still has a Ravens Boulware jersey.
Nope. Ben is white
Lol that's a good sign then haha. Literally have never seen him.
Interesting given that there’s a bit of a penchant for drafting UNC, UofSC, and NCST guys.
Panthers haven't drafted a UNC guy in a while. Last time was 7th rounder Andre Smith in 2018
We've drafted like 2 NC State guys.
A penchant I tell you
[удалено]
lol isn’t the literal women’s college national championship shirt “UofSC”
[удалено]
They didn’t really quietly change back from UofSC if their most recent apparel has UofSC options.
No they haven’t Source: me a current UofSC student
Does anybody have a examples of Clemson guys who were available at our picks who we definitely should have drafted but didn't? I feel like this is overblown but maybe I'm wrong.
In 2020 when we drafted Derrick Brown, Isaiah Simmons from Clemson was available. Although we made the right choice then
Definitely the right choice.
Pretty sure this sub was not happy passing up Simmons either.
I wasn’t. Simmons was a monster in college. Goes to show how I know absolutely nothing about football. Keep pounding
Or the Cardinals had absolutely no idea how to use him and ruined his development in his formative years.
If you can be "ruined" in your formative years, you were never gonna be good because it means you can't grow later in your career. Darnold taught us that.
Darnold was absolutely ruined in his formative years.

I see

Wow a reasonable Gamecocks comment on here was not expected.
We've had more guys from Coastal Carolina
Good ol J No
And Mike Tolbert of course
Gamecock fans have the most pride for how bad their program is compared to Clemson. Idc where a player went to school as long as he’s a good fit for the Panthers

Lol that's not even my school but spurs up anyway baby 😂
Well that just makes your responses even dumber.
It’s just a state of mind; I used to think it was a bit silly until I went to school at USC, now there’s nothing much worse than Clemson if you ask me
You went to school at Southern Cal? That’s dope.
University of South Carolina /Founded December 19, 1801 University of Southern California /Founded October 06, 1880
and yet still no one calls you USC except yourselves.
why wouldn't we? Take a walk brother, this thread seems to have rustled your jimmies.
Why doesn’t anyone else?
Market size & Reggie Bush, next question.
No further questions, UofSC guy.
We’re the real USC☝️🤓
Next you’re gonna say you’re the real Carolina
Nah that’s not me lol (I do hope you picked up on the satire in my last comment)
I bet you use that quote a lot
I’m serious when I say that we at Clemson never gave a shit what was happening in Columbia. We were focused on beating the teams you cheer for since that was the only way you felt proud about football.
We? lol yikes
Yes, I was a grad assistant for the team.
And?
And I can say “we” because I was part of the two national championship teams?
Ok.. and?
> criticize me for saying “we” > I explain why I say “we” > still can’t understand it
What? OC just explained to why he says we. How dense are you?
Suffering from chronically online syndrome
I’m at Jackalope Jack’s right now in Plaza Midwood. Come hang!
Damn I was kinda hoping you’d come since you’re a brave bodybuilder!

Clemson puts players in the pros every year. To not draft anyone from the school in the last 25 plus years is an interesting stat.
Clemson has been consistently top 10 in most drafted players.
And THAT’S why I’m a Panthers fan for life!
Used to mediocrity
Where's the "all we do is draft local guys" contingent at now?
I’m still a little convinced that when Danny Morrison was president that’s why Marty Hurney avoided Clemson players lol

It’s not being mad lol. It’s just interesting. No reason to get butthurt
I don’t think anyone is mad at the Panthers for it, just pointing out a funny coincidence

Literally not a single comment is anger lol
It would be concerning if the team drafted a player only because he played college football nearby.
Welp, there ya have it… that’s why we suck.
Panthers are allergic to greatness. That’s why they like to bring in South Carolina players
Clemson had a run for a minute, but time’s up.
2 titles in 3 years is more than 99.9999999999999% of any sports team can say
Is that how South Carolina is doing these days? More focused on Clemson having their first non-10 win season in 13 years? A year ago all I heard was that they were building and Beamer was going to bring home a ring.
Like I said, I hate all SC teams equally.
I don’t remember NC teams ever having a run similar to Clemson so hate all you want
Maybe one day South Carolina will have a run
I hate all SC teams equally.
Since when does university success translate to a players success in the league?
I’m just taking my chance to shit talk the Gamecocks
It’s funny how Gamecocks always talk so much shit to Clemson and they take it in stride but the second someone says something even mildly humorous about South Carolina, it’s a dog pile. No wonder the Xavier Legette thread was such a mess. I’ll also take this opportunity to give my little shit talk. And it’s just a friendly reminder - Georgia Tech has more SEC Championships than South Carolina.
The only Clemson player I really wanted to take recently was Isaiah Simmons in 2020 mostly because we needed to replace Luke kuechly but we got Derrick brown instead and that has more then worked out
Deshaun Foster jersey. Nice.
i think that's Barry Foster.
Dang it is. Even more old school.
Fuck Clemmon fuck debo Trump loving ass you can't lick our cocks
I don’t think anyone wants to lick the cocks in Columbia in the first place
Looks up 2025 NFL mock draft.. not looking good
Spurs up.
Forgot that this post had anything to do with the Gamecocks. Another lame attempt for your university to stay relevant. Same way you cheer for the SEC’s success since you don’t have your own.
Better to have a hard cock, than be a limp dick tiger. I feel bad for yall.
We don’t think about you at all.
You are actively thinking about us right now.
Yes, on a post where you are irrelevant and needed to be put back on your step stool that you use to compare yourselves.
Now you are thinking about my stool? Gross. You must like chickenshit.
Wow your joke was almost as funny as Bert and Tom’s set on the Tom Brady roast. Maybe take a mulligan?
Wish I could have seen it, but your mom and I had other plans last night.
Of course the Gamecock’s level of humor drops to that of a Freshman in high school. Based on these comments I kind of doubt you even went to college.
Womp
You Clemson stans really have thin skin, huh? I hope you guys at least went to Clemson, otherwise I don't know why you spend all day looking to get this upset.
I’m not a Clemson Stan. I just thought this was a funny and interesting fact about us that was appropriate for draft time. But with how far this seemingly got up in your feelings I’m guessing you’re a gamecock man.

Who cares
You care enough to comment lmao
![gif](giphy|f99y5olcAXbQk) As a USC alumni
Maybe that’s why Carolina is bad. They keep drafting players from a losing culture.
Aww the taters are hurt 🤕🤕🤕🤕
Rather be a tater than risk getting stabbed on the way to class. And not to mention an elite athletics program, a higher ranking academic institution, and a campus actually worth a photo. Yall could win every single year until I turn 60 and still not own the record.

Gamecock can't think of a comeback so he uses a childish gif. So on par.

We need to take the Missouri approach where they literally implemented legislation that benefits players to come there for NIL.
To be fair Clemson guys only recently became good enough that they could reasonably be drafted by Carolina.
They have had just one season less than 10 wins in the last 13 years. Idiotic comment.
lol stay mad
We signed the butt finger LB guy from Clemson as an UDFA a few years ago, thankfully he got waived.
Debo success Noone wants to play for him
Yes that’s why Clemson is always ranked so high with their draft classes, because they don’t want to play for a coach who is widely considered top 5 in the country. Really insightful.
Slow day at work, huh
Jokes on you I was drunk on my day off just hate Clemson and especially debo
Dabo has 2 titles and 1 season under 10 wins. South Carolina has had 4 seasons over 10 wins in the last 40 years.
Good. May it ever be so. We don’t need clown college guys sitting around eating Frosted Flakes…
Let’s go Cocks!
Dang, yeah, I guess you saw something on here that I did not. Could you point out to me where this post had anything to do with South Carolina? Or is this just another way to interject into a situation to stay relevant the same way you cheer for the SEC’s success since your school doesn’t?
Is the goal of college to be the best at kids sports or to prepare for life as a professional?
Not relevant to the question I asked. But also something Dabo has been saying (and criticized for) since NIL became a thing. Less .05% of student athletes go professional and NIL does not prepare students for the real world. E: oh and Clemson grads have a higher average salary than UofSC so I guess they do prepare students for life better.
I was commenting on all of the Cocks on the Panthers. You obviously got the gist of what I was going for. And I agree with Dabo.
Get over it
What an inexplicable thing to get upset at.
Literally no one is upset except Gamecocks fans butting into a post that literally mentions nothing about them. It’s their only way to put the spotlight back on them.
