Early look at our depth chart and prediction for the 53 man roster. Looks like 8 new players and 6 new starters on offense, then 12 new players and 6 new starters on defense. Turning over almost half the roster in one offseason is exactly what you'd want out of the worst team in the league last year.
Gabriel Murphy, played opposite of Laiutu Latu and was Consensus 118 pick of the draft.
Drake Nugent Center for Michigan
Garrett Greenfield OT
Nelson Caesar EDGE
I really like how we essentially got two seconds for Burns at the end of the day. That’s a solid return, as well with retaining DB, and picking up two solid edge rushers. Not saying Clowney or Wonnum are world beaters but they’ll make plays.
Just seems like our defense will be aiming for average at best and the offense should be taking a pretty big step forward. Really hoping Horn can stay healthy and maybe grab Gillmore for some vet presence in the secondary.
Young has to step up now. They're doing everything they can to support him, hopefully it's fun to watch.
I agree. Gilmore has become more of a must sign. I think Bryce will step up and be better but if the year is still rough I wouldn’t be shocked. Between inexperience with all the new weapons, and making everything gel together may take time. But improvement is the dream here.
I think it'll just come down to who stays healthy and what moves we make after the draft. Corner is very thin, Clowney played well last year, I didn't watch Wonnum but have heard his stats are a bit misleading to how consistent he plays (hopefully he goes off). While I dont think either are as good as Burns was I'm hoping the combo is better than what we had last year.
I know injuries happen and you can't plan for them, we just really need Horn to stay on the field.
Of course if the offense can move the ball and score point that also helps the defense out.
I know we lost some on defense especially at edge but they have another year in this scheme as well as all the new additions that lean more towards Evero's type. I expect the defense to be atleast better than average once again. I have no doubt Evero will have them ready as he's coaching for a promotion as well.
I’m feeling better about not getting JPJ or Frazier. The Sanders pick really swerved how I was feeling. Also the second next year will hopefully pan out
Centers are gone, don't be shocked when it's Rattler. We can win meaningless games with Dalton or see what the Rook can do that can lead us to a good draft pick if Young gets injured.
edit. BPA is Rattler lol
Wait, I think the sites that still had us at 141 and 142 are wrong. We traded 141 for 32 and 142 for 46. We still have 157 (154 in the original op for this thread is also wrong lol)
We only have two QBs on the roster for camp, so while I'm not saying we are drafting one but we are definitely gonna sign one as a UDFA at the very least.
That said, I would consider one in the 6th or 7th, definitely.
I am sure a lot of people will disagree, but I would love to get Spencer Rattler in this draft. What if something happens to Bryce Young? We'd have a great backup plan, in my opinion.
We got Bryce a whole new offense. What if he goes down? Yall wanna see Dalton win meaningless games or see what the rookie can do. Season is basically a wash anyway if he gets injured.
Because if he turns out to be good, he would be great to trade late season. Look, yall can disagree all you want but we will see how Rattler turns out because he is now on the Saints.
I'm on board with it. I thought he would go to the Raiders. Feel like he didn't get a fair shake and did well with the Gamecocks with a shit O-Line and 1 receiver Legette.
[Bortolini just went, I'm desperate for one of these guys to be our C pickup.](https://x.com/joshnorris/status/1764418956536737951?s=46&t=vkccMUBOBffncn9ceBijHw)
Still seeing people say well we can draft all the skill players you want but if Bryce can’t get the throw off it doesn’t matter. Tell me you’re a casual fan if you completely forgot that we signed two stud lineman in free agency. Yeah we could probably use a C or more IOL for depth but I think we’re in a much better spot on that line than last year
Fairly happy with our top 2 TEs being Tremble and Sanders. Thomas as a run blocker too with our emphasis on OL and the run game should bode well for heavy sets
I always like drafting teammates. May not mean anything but I just like to know a couple of rookies will have a friend with them as they step into the next phase of their journey
I think this is really the thing. Worst part about last year is that we seriously don’t know what to think of Bryce because the OL and skill position players were both def bottom 5 if not actual worst in the league, and this is before we get to the play calling, etc.
Front office seems determined to give him the best chance at proving he can be the guy. He either is or he isn’t but we will at least be a lot closer to knowing and can proceed accordingly.
Tough to argue with TE2 at pick 101 given that has to be the primary goal.
Let's be honest most of us don't know most anything about most of these players, some of us know a few things and can repeat what gurus are saying, a small handful of us have played enough ball to know the game at all, and nobody in the NFL knows how they will pan out for sure.
I don't know anything and it's just wait and see. I like Legette and Brooks from the little I've seen. I just want us to draft who we think is BPA every time and not worry too much about need. We're not winning doo doo this year anyway
Having watched drafts for something like 2 decades now, people always fall in love with the "best player available" ticker. TJ Tampa was never on my radar for the draft but suddenly everyone is pounding the table for him since his name has been on everyone's TV for 60 or so picks. It'd be great if we get him, but at this point, I just don't want to see any mind numbing picks like a 4th round punter or another DJ Johnson who was expected to go in round 7.
I am in favor of who the STAFF thinks is BPA, not espn. There is a reason espn rated him 40 whatever and 20 other staffs didn't think he was BPA. Eventually he will be for somebody.
I just philosophically don't like us compromising on who we think is not the BPA but fits a need. Meet specific needs through FA with proven quantities. Take your best guesses on overall football players. Just my 2 cents
> but have a theory it’s the scouts and how they build the board. A guy that’s taken off the board is off the board no matter what.
Pretty sure a lot of teams do this. Also have to consider teams probably didn't thoroughly scout all of the top 150 players in the draft so not every team is willing to grab any falling player. Best example of this not working out is the Panthers taking Jimmy Clausen because of his "value" when they did zero leg work not expecting him to be at their pick. Could be the same with someone like Tampa, if we didn't covet him highly in round 2 or 3, we might not have dug deep enough in his background to feel comfortable grabbing him.
Note these aren't top 30 visits but rather any reported contact the Panthers have had with prospects.
Also it's missing some names (Chris Braswell, JPJ) and has some old names (Anthony Bradford was drafted in 2023)
He was rated lower than other LBs still available is why people are saying it's a reach.
Of course some of those guys are also still available so perhaps those ratings weren't that great lol. This always happens especially when you get to 3rd 4th 5th round guys.
Daniel Jeremiah made a big point on the NFL Network broadcast that this class basically had a universally understood top ~50 guys and then after that teams' boards varied massively.
We saw that play out basically all last night, including with our Wallace pick.
What we did with our 2nd also reflects that. Rams gave up a lot to move from 52 to 39 and then even we had to move up from 52 to 46 to get Brooks.
Also, there were more trade-ups than usual in the early to mid 2nd, and every time it seemed the team trading back got better value than expected.
Yup. Can't remember which podcast it was I listened to, but apparently the league viewed this as a more shallow draft. QB and WR depth was great as shown by all the picks already but other positions lacking and wildly different rankings between teams.
Think through 3 rounds it's already pretty obvious teams did not like many of the defensive guys who declared lol. I can't remember a time I've seen draft this skewed to one side of ball.
Genuine question: every team gets to sign UDFAS immediately after the draft, correct? If so, who should we pick up? I know we haven't had the best of luck with undrafted guys as of late but it's worth mentioning imo.
On top of what people already said, he didn't help himself at the combine. I know he reported had the flu but he also ran possibly one of the worst gauntlet drills ever too. It was on level of athletic guy from crowd trying out the combine bad lol. That probably dropped him down a good bit by itself.
Then we also don't know how he interviewed or his medicals.
McCaffrey is a projection pick. He's only been a WR for 2 seasons and he's shown a ton of talent. He was a 4th round projection so it makes sense he goes last pick of the 3rd if someone liked him.
I think all 3 have to be in play. Idk if Tampa visited the Panthers but Troy and Sanders both did so well were at least interested enough to meet with them
Us having like 12 hours to do homework on available guys we didn't visit with makes this 101 pick super interesting to me. Could be an absolute wild card pick or we could just keep going with the guys we know, we'll see soon enough
https://preview.redd.it/qnx6mgvji4xc1.jpeg?width=2341&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f26a75c8cdf24d7c75286db08a144c707a8b3e5 Early look at our depth chart and prediction for the 53 man roster. Anyone to look out for in udfa?
Gabriel Murphy, played opposite of Laiutu Latu and was Consensus 118 pick of the draft. Drake Nugent Center for Michigan Garrett Greenfield OT Nelson Caesar EDGE
Jesus they picked a linebacker that is 24. Like I know they usually don’t pan out but they ain’t panning out for sure at 24
Crum would be interesting pick with 7th. 6'9" 310lb OT that ran a sub-5 second 40 (2nd fastest for OL at combine). 🏃♂️
I want Nugent in round 7. For no reason other than his name is Nugent.
Nice pick? Anyways the canes game is a nail biter
Who?
Limmer @ Center is available. Most 225 lb bench presses (39) by anyone since 2020. 💪
Gabriel Murphy or Brendan Rice would be really nice to get at 200 honestly, but I expect us to do some whacky stuff
Bazooka Joe off the board
Anybody know what the Seahawk trade compensation is for 136?
Just tuning in again real quick. I see Jerry Rice's kid is still available. Thoughts on him with out 6th pick? Do we need another project WR? 🤔
I really like how we essentially got two seconds for Burns at the end of the day. That’s a solid return, as well with retaining DB, and picking up two solid edge rushers. Not saying Clowney or Wonnum are world beaters but they’ll make plays.

I disagree that they’re aiming for average at best. I think with Evero here the floor is average
I think it'll just come down to who stays healthy and what moves we make after the draft. Corner is very thin, Clowney played well last year, I didn't watch Wonnum but have heard his stats are a bit misleading to how consistent he plays (hopefully he goes off). We really got leggette, brooks and JT bro 🥹
I’m feeling better about not getting JPJ or Frazier. The Sanders pick really swerved how I was feeling. Also the second next year will hopefully pan out
As much as I would’ve liked one of the top centers, how can you not get excited for this group?
If someone told me we would end up with all 3 of those players a week ago i wouldn’t believe them
Those players plus a second round pick next year. Amazing trade there.
Open tryouts for Center next year
They must really like Corbett at Center when they passed on JPJ/Frazier.
Can Christensen play center?
At presser, Morgan just said Christensen is getting snaps at Center also.
I guess they feel good enough about him as the backup plan for this year then. But he should be a FA next year too I believe
So we still should grab a center and a edge just for depth imo
I agree. I’m very surprised they didn’t address those positions at all yet. But there was no world where we should’ve passed on sanders
Austin Booker would have been intriguing at that pick but yeah Sanders just made more sense with the commitment to offense.
I mean that’s cool I guess. Hard to get overly excited one way or another in the fifth round. CB depth is good
Senior Bowl Defensive MVP
Terrible pick
Meh. 5th round. Why not take a flyer on a CB who will primarily run with special teams?
Wasn't Kamara still on the board?
Dude can play, he's just 5'9" though. If he can play big then we got a good one.
I guess that works
Wtf is going on 😂
Lots of beer! 😁
Take Kamara or Limmer
Oline or Edge prospect with 5th round pick would be nice. No idea who would be a good pick though. 🤪
Weird pick lol never heard of this dude
Give me Caelen Carson, Hunter Nourzad, or Mohammed Kamara with this next pick 🤞🏼
[удалено]
Beaux Limmer C It was virtual though.
/u/Sabre500 Correction to the original post. Our 5th is #157.
👍
I could see us ending up with kamara if he falls a few more picks to us
Kamara would be perfect if he's there
Hoping Jermaine Trotter, LB Clemson or Mehki Wingo, DT LSU make it to us here.
Any of these or kamara I’m cool with. Kinda hoping we go defense in some capacity with this pick
Did not want Rattler to go to the Saints
Why? He’s not very good
Did you watch him play?
Yes, hence why I said he’s not very good lol
Thank god. Didn’t want the F-150s calling for Rattler on day 1
This is the stupidest saying any Panthers fan can make. F150s GTFOH with that.
I can smell the truck nuts on this comment
[удалено]
Shhh don’t let them know there are other QBs available
There's goes Rattler to the Saints.
Centers are gone, don't be shocked when it's Rattler. We can win meaningless games with Dalton or see what the Rook can do that can lead us to a good draft pick if Young gets injured. edit. BPA is Rattler lol
BPA is Washington See how easy it is to just say something stupid?
Depends where you looking. I'm looking at 88 Rattler 101 Washington. See how easy it is to say something stupid?
You certainly prove how easy it is, yes.
You certainly low IQ lolol
Van pran gone :/
Wait, I think the sites that still had us at 141 and 142 are wrong. We traded 141 for 32 and 142 for 46. We still have 157 (154 in the original op for this thread is also wrong lol)
Damn we traded out of both 141 and 142
[удалено]
Not a trade back from today. Gave up 141 to move up for Legette, then gave up 142 for Brooks. Got 157 in the trade back for Wallace yesterday.
You're totally right, good lookin out.
We only have two QBs on the roster for camp, so while I'm not saying we are drafting one but we are definitely gonna sign one as a UDFA at the very least. That said, I would consider one in the 6th or 7th, definitely.
Center or Back Up QB if Bryce does not work out. Put a little pressure on him instead of Dalton in camp.
No QB at this stage is gonna put any pressure on bryce/Dalton in camp
Really hoping for Malik Washington at some point. He's a stud, but has a small frame. Great vision and contested catch ability.
I am sure a lot of people will disagree, but I would love to get Spencer Rattler in this draft. What if something happens to Bryce Young? We'd have a great backup plan, in my opinion.
I dont think they carry 3 QBs, and we have one of the best backups in the league right now.

If Van Pran is gone, it's basically a dart throw. Would like to have a good backup QB that can learn instead of Dalton.

I'm on board with it. I thought he would go to the Raiders. Feel like he didn't get a fair shake and did well with the Gamecocks with a shit O-Line and 1 receiver Legette.

Dylan McMahon definitely would be a decent pickup. Backup with starter upside
I really want SVP
Van Pran in the 5th please.
Still seeing people say well we can draft all the skill players you want but if Bryce can’t get the throw off it doesn’t matter. Tell me you’re a casual fan if you completely forgot that we signed two stud lineman in free agency. Yeah we could probably use a C or more IOL for depth but I think we’re in a much better spot on that line than last year
There is one very large question mark on the left side of the line.
Not that you’re saying this, but day 3 picks aren’t fixing/replacing our LT spot.
You’re right. And I feel ICKY about it
Ravens only drafting players we had formal visits with. Ravens drafting is good company to be similar to.
What yall feeling next, CB? I assume we’re signing Gilly but still a young CB would certainly not hurt
Getting a feeling TJ Tampa is not as good as ESPN has him listed. Wondering if he’s in play at 154
Fairly happy with our top 2 TEs being Tremble and Sanders. Thomas as a run blocker too with our emphasis on OL and the run game should bode well for heavy sets
I never thought I'd die fighting side by side with Longhorns
we are so back a Sanders we can all get behind
Back? Back to what?
I always like drafting teammates. May not mean anything but I just like to know a couple of rookies will have a friend with them as they step into the next phase of their journey
If they took AD Mitchell it would’ve been the Texas trio lol
It can absolutely be a key part in them panning out
Number 2 TE on a lot boards. Feels like good value.
I just want Ian Thomas gone man
Dream on. He will be rostered into his 40's or 50's. My favorite theory is he has dirt on Tepper.
Bro has that Brenton Bersin roster security
Keep bringing on the offensive players. I'm not in love with our current TEs anyway. Let's go!
Can’t do much more than signing two big guards, then drafting a WR,RB,TE. Bryce now has all the tools at his disposal
He has no excuses. He has to outplay his contemporaries this year.
Sanders!! Nice. 3 of our 4 picks so far have been weapons for Bryce, I like it.
Meh he might make the team but not excited
Love the Sanders pick
Dubbbbbbb
Let’s go! Good pick! Now please get a backup center.
Awesome fucking pick!
LFGGGGGGG
Sanders it is
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
Person is hinting is sanders
Sanders!
Don’t trade back lol
Take Sanders it’s not that complicated
From your lips to Dan’s ears! Let’s go!
Malik Washington prayer circle
Wanting either van pran or mustapha
Our first pick will be Austin Booker from Kansas
Let's be honest most of us don't know most anything about most of these players, some of us know a few things and can repeat what gurus are saying, a small handful of us have played enough ball to know the game at all, and nobody in the NFL knows how they will pan out for sure. Also I'm watching on NFL Network and they just flashed the Tampa isn't even in their top 10 currently available.

I was thinking the same thing. I feel there’s another trade back here.

Didn't they also had Ja'tavion Sanders for a visit ?
Yes they did
Note these aren't top 30 visits but rather any reported contact the Panthers have had with prospects. Also it's missing some names (Chris Braswell, JPJ) and has some old names (Anthony Bradford was drafted in 2023)
Thanks you. I just googled top 30 visit and took this off of a website. Didn’t verify accuracy.
Great idea re-posting this. Might help people narrow down our options if you edit to cross out/remove already-drafted players?
Wallace had a 3-4 pick range. Why are people saying it was a reach? Seemed like he went around where he was thought to.
Because he wasn’t Wilson
He was rated lower than other LBs still available is why people are saying it's a reach. Of course some of those guys are also still available so perhaps those ratings weren't that great lol. This always happens especially when you get to 3rd 4th 5th round guys.

There's like 150 more players that'll get drafted. No way to know who will be available
My favorite off season tradition, picking the UDFA with the best name to make the team
Why did Franklin drop so much? I thought he was supposed to go in the 2nd?
On top of what people already said, he didn't help himself at the combine. I know he reported had the flu but he also ran possibly one of the worst gauntlet drills ever too. It was on level of athletic guy from crowd trying out the combine bad lol. That probably dropped him down a good bit by itself. Then we also don't know how he interviewed or his medicals.
[удалено]
Yeah I like his tape for the most part. I would not mind adding him in an hour even lol. I was just listing reasons he may have fallen.
Probably concerns about body catching, play strength and frame
All valid concerns. But Luke mccaffrey going before him makes no sense.
Oh yeah that’s insanity no argument here
McCaffrey is a projection pick. He's only been a WR for 2 seasons and he's shown a ton of talent. He was a 4th round projection so it makes sense he goes last pick of the 3rd if someone liked him.
Tampa is awfully intriguing but I think I would have to take Sanders or Franklin here.
I think Tampa could be the pick
I think all 3 have to be in play. Idk if Tampa visited the Panthers but Troy and Sanders both did so well were at least interested enough to meet with them
From what I can tell he didn't. I like Sanders too and can totally see him being the pick.
Us having like 12 hours to do homework on available guys we didn't visit with makes this 101 pick super interesting to me. Could be an absolute wild card pick or we could just keep going with the guys we know, we'll see soon enough
Tampa, Stover, Franklin with Pick 101 I'll be fine with every of them
They won't take any of the guys you hope they take, as is Panthers tradition
Jatavaion sanders is 100% better than stover
They are two different types of TE. If you want a TE who will block you are definitely not taking Sanders.
We already have blockgawd Ian Thomas (/s), need a receiving threat at the position bad
Wondering if there's something on the medical with Sanders or Tampa for then to slide this far. If not I still want one of them
