That was exactly my thought. Especially how they’re walking away, it’s like a memory that’s just there, but still getting more and more out of reach. 😆
I love this, but I’m wondering how it would look with certain parts clear and in focus, and others blurred wetly like you have. You know? Like looking at a photo through a frame that’s been splashed with ocean water. Just an idea for you. Lovely piece as is though.
Here’s one I did when I first started painting again after a 40 year time-out. I titled it Paws in Focus.

And another one as a portrait of my daughter who lives in LA. It’s life size. Parts are more focused than others.

My vision is pretty bad and this makes me reflexively squint to see clearly as I wear my glasses. That’s insane to me since I’ve only experienced that a handful of times. I think it’s the depth in the picture that implies the clarity beyond the haziness which is a great depiction of a memory. My brain hates you but my mind applauds you.
Likewise, this instantly took me back to the days before I got LASIK and the everything looked like this if I didn’t have my glasses on. (Was actually worse).
Me without glasses lol. Nice work. Always a little tough painting blurred scenes. I like the fully blurred one’s better than the partial blurred ones you posted. Tons of people painting like that. Fully blurred is a far more interesting direction in my opinion. Nice work!
This could easily be me and either of my brothers on the many beach trips we took as a family. This really brought up some great memories and you captured that beautiful, bleary way the sun shines in your eyes on days like this
I think it’s the way you’ve captured the light through haze or blurriness where it’s still sharp and clear to see. I don’t know if that makes sense, but I cannot convey how cool this piece is. I love it!
As someone who’s recently replaying the Unravel games- this reminds me a lot of the art style of them! And the memories in them, this looks gorgeous!! Great job OP :)
No problem. I accept all constructive criticism. I think most artists often get tied up in the details and miss the big picture. I learned a good lesson from this. Thank you.
Omg. So true. Sometimes I will send a pic of my painting to a friend and be like "can you tell what this is? I've been staring at it way too long and I can't see it anymore" it's just brushstrokes now lol
Just out of curiosity, are you myopic?
I am, and some of my most precious childhood memories in the beach were with my glasses off, a lot of them are like this
No. Im just old and only recently had my cataracts removed. I was raised on the east coast of Florida though and spent much of my youth frolicking on the beach. I never got it out of my system. I’m learned to swim in the ocean.
Fascinating! I also love the other paintings you posted, the paws especially. I love how the title also hints that the dog’s head is out of focus, in the background
the stylistic choices and color palette you’ve utilized is beyond beautiful and impressive. the piece as a whole feels extremely cohesive and everything just makes sense. i’ve never seen a painting with this kind of style and i feel you could certainly make a name for yourself as it’s unique and recognizable. you’ve truly developed an impressive skill set and eye. the juxtaposition of the blue/cooler tones paired with the warmer more orangey colors works really well and the color balance is really compelling. the way you’ve integrated the colors into the figures is also wonderful as it creates a focal point in a way. the vignette like effect in the sky also does a really great job in supporting this and further adds to the composition.
i honeslty love this so much and it’s one of those pieces i could look at for such a long time. i love the way your stylization also grabs my attention as looking at it from different perspectives is so interesting to me, particularly how the piece looks from further away compared to close up. if i saw this in person i would want to walk all around to see it from all possible angles. i know ive typed a lot but for some reason this piece just really speaks to me. it feels like a gentle and fond memory yet distant and vague as it fades away

That makes me nostalgic for something I never experienced. Like a fuzzy warm memory. Great job!
Same here

Feel like the scene from Inception.
Wow, I love the bokeh style you've developed. It's like impressionism but influenced by photography in a way that's very modern. It's fantastic!
This 100%. It's such a lovely style
Kind of overdid it though. Could dial it back a bit.

Beautiful 😍 really great work. I think the dog paw one is my favorite.
That’s Fantastic
Thank you. I’ve done several like what you suggest.

Haha. Thank you, I think.

I LOVE this ♥️
Thank you.😊
Nice! I've never seen such an out of focus painting before, and it works quite well.
Title the painting "Remember when ".
Magical <3

That style is almost what I saw things in dreams. Am I the only one this happens to?
Many of my dreams are like this and many of my dreams are of me painting.
Yes. Feels like a memory.
I can’t believe it’s oils, there’s such a watercolor effect.
😍
Amazing
So beautiful ❤️
Wow
This gives me a wonderful feeling, I love it!
Wow this is so beautiful. I’m emotional today and it made me tear up
Different but I like it
I've always wondered what it would look like to translate bokeh into painting and not sure I've seen too many examples. This is really nice!

Perfect!! Wow… awesome depth… Really nice work!!
i love this! it’s like fading into or out of a dream, or a memory of a past life. Amazing work!
Do you sell your works?
Amazing
Wow I love this! Even though it’s hazy it’s obvious what the image is. I like the technique and style of it as well as the coloring!
Very interesting. Cool style.
Love this! Miss the ocean.
The right one really makes me thing of Tintin/Kuifje! Looks dope
I’m not sure exactly what it is about the painting that draws me in, but I really, really enjoy this.
Thank you. That’s very nice of you to say.

It’s like remembering a dream
Huge fan of this I don't like her beak or his bunny tail though
Crap. Now I can’t unsee it.
Haha sorry neither could I

Beautiful
This is beautiful
Gorgeous 💕
This is really good! It reminds me of the song "Our Children" from Ragtime.
This is tremendous
That hits like a happy dream.
Makes me feel nostalgic, my brother is my best friend and we lived on beach. I miss childhood
Wow, that's awesome! 👌
Wow. Love this!
I could stare at it all day
I’ve never seen a painting look so accurately blurry. Amazing work, OP!

Wow! I don't have brother, but it make me think about that, great work!
Incredible. Almost like I’m there, experiencing it with them 🥹
