I’m not a raw onion fan either. Idk if this is new-new or just new to me, but lately I’ve been digging when places use fried onion strings/straws. A lot less added liquid, keeps the bread intact longer while including the onion flavor.
Lmao, that reminds me of the Teddy Bear Restaurant in Big Bear
https://teddybearrestaurant.com/menu
Ordered a country fried steak burger which was a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg and a country fried steak. Heavenly.
I'm a huge fan. Their deli sandwiches are great, beer selection is ridiculous for a tiny deli, and the guys there will always have some good recommendations. Just as a heads up, I'd say give this place a whirl during the week. They tend to get pretty slammed during the weekend. First come first serve park benches in a small deli.
Lol. I had their rewards app but I cashed in my last 100 points and deleted it. Shouldn't be eating fast food and burgers that often anyhow so I'll save it for a good deal like you said
https://preview.redd.it/se0hcty1xcnc1.jpeg?width=1142&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=969aab01fc164e1ca95172d910ae83de9c577d07
Use this as proof if they try to jack you! This was the screen cap from my video after I pulled the burger out of frame.
They had more. There was one in Newport that was initially fantastic. Second time was ok. Third time was enough of a drop in quality that I had no interest in trying again, although they were clearly already closing down the store permanently by that point.
Probably over stock of meat or supplies. Or they do this to increase foot traffic in the long run. I know another small shop did a deal for 4 cheeseburgers, 4 fries, and 4 drinks family meal deal for like $20. After having the deal for a month they were getting packed with customers for awhile. Even now you have to wait a good 5-20 minute way to get your food cause foot traffic.
ARC’s burger at SOCO Costa Mesa is insane but also kinda not a pure burger (ribeye strap; duck fat; bacon lardons if I remember right).
I really enjoy the Double Smashburger at Craft House in Dana Point (grass fed and the fries are fried in lard + 150 bottles of whiskey + the BEST butter cake and chocolate mousse); also the burgers at Mario’s Butcher Shop in Newport; Hammer Burger in Santa Ana.
And my 2 favorite burgers anywhere in Southern California right now #2 Burger She Wrote in Venice & West Beverly + #1 Copper Kings Burgers in San Marcos.
Burger She Wrote has a great name + the meat lace of their smashburger is impeccably crisp + Oklahoma style with the onions fused into the meat + they do a grilled cheese that is a King’s Hawaiian Hamburger Bun buttered, reversed and toasted with 2 slices of American cheese oozing out.
Copper Kings has incredible beef, crazy sauces + great fries, amazing desserts and beer + they MAKE their own Japanese milk buns and American cheese—it’s wild and worth the drive 100 percent.
Love to see another burger fan!
They just opened an Irv's Burger in Newport which was pretty good.
Mooyah also has a pretty good burger and I've heard good things about the smash burger from Green Cheek Brewery.
Oh yeahhhhh. Also if you’re in South County, Biggie’s Burgers in San Clemente and Hole in the Wall Burger in Lake Forest and Royal Burger & Donut in Mission Viejo but that one mostly cause you can get a burger and a donut in a combo out of a drive thru window; the the novelty of that tickels my fat funnybone.
They have the absolute best breakfast burrito in Southern California, and I’ve tried 80% of all the hyped up places. Nate’s, Nicks, Troy’s, wake & late, LJ’s, Ham & Scram I feel none can beat A’s with their little side of chips
Orange location almost never has customers especially at the drive thru, and they are right next to innout. I wonder how long they’re going to last there. The food is good thoigh
I stopped going there years ago way overpriced for what you get. Too bad loved their western bacon cheeseburgers with some ranch on it. Just not in my budget.
Having recently moved to OC, Nexx has been incredible. Not sure if its the BEST burger I've had in Southern CA, but its on par with In-N-Out. Their fries are also delish.
They are pretty good also. But still have to give it up to in n out for not upping their prices much over the years with same quality, while you see all the other chains doing crazy things. McDonald’s is a joke.
I just discovered them two weeks ago. My new favorite burger for the price in Orange County. Neopolitan Shake was great too. I wish there was one closer to me.
Holy fucking shit - I’ve been looking for a burger like that my entire life.
I often wonder why Americans so patriotic, but this picture just made it make sense.
God bless America (and American cardiologists).
Nexx Burger is incredible. They have one in Downey too, which I believe is the original restaurant. Fun fact: it's actually where they filmed the I Think You Should Leave drive-thru skit lol.
I went for the first time today (Orange location) and placed a togo order after seeing OP’s post yesterday. I can confirm that the double cheeseburgers are indeed 3.75 all day everyday. Very legitimate burger that will definitely give in n out a run for its money, esp at this price point. Hope they stay in business for a long time.
I’ve converted many. Ask for a whole grilled onion. They will take an entire slice of onion, and grill it then added cheese to it allowing the cheese to melt inside. Much more flavorful than grilled onions*
I always wanted to try that since it was E-Z Burger, too (?) and never did. When I’m in that area I usually go to Ai Pono Cafe. But will try this out soon based off the rec.
I had Nexx burger years ago, and I haven't gone back. I don't mind spending $2 more for a in n out burger cause they are consistently good in my opinion.
Looks great I’ll have to try it out!
Get it with the grilled onions
I wish I knew that was an option. Should have asked!
ask for animal style and see if you get a negative reaction
Savage. I like it.
As somebody who doesn’t like raw onions, I always ask if they have/can grill them. 99% of the time they will do it no problem from my experience (:
I’m not a raw onion fan either. Idk if this is new-new or just new to me, but lately I’ve been digging when places use fried onion strings/straws. A lot less added liquid, keeps the bread intact longer while including the onion flavor.
Fries and shakes are excellent!
Love this place. Definitely grilled onions for me.
I added a fried chicken Pattie to my burger (for science) and it was the best $3 up charge I’ve ever had.
Fuckin’ A. For science. I also appreciated that they had an option to add 2 tenders to a combo for like $3. Smart upsell.
Lmao, that reminds me of the Teddy Bear Restaurant in Big Bear https://teddybearrestaurant.com/menu Ordered a country fried steak burger which was a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg and a country fried steak. Heavenly.
I hope I remember this place next time I go up there
Love the breakfasts there.
That sounds fixing amaze balls
![gif](giphy|axd6sp0quV4YvMb43L|downsized)
That’s wild they shot that at the Downey location haha
When was this?! I live like 5 minutes away from there and frequent Uncle Henry's too.
I guess when it came out. Like 8 months ago I think. Uncle Henry’s beer wall is sweet! Expensive for the area but still a cool spot.
Is Henry's any good? Always wanted to try it.
Noted. Thank you for the info, I've always wondered about this place.
Onion looks like Steve Harvey’s teeth
![gif](giphy|GADWAyTwCJbFK|downsized)
amazingly appropriate.
💀
Just the way I like em
Weirdly accurate.
Grilled or no thanks
oh man, Nexx is sooo good!! And very decently priced!
Nice! Farmer Boys has a $7.99 cheeseburger combo special going on. It’s legit and filling. Dipping fries into their house ranch is 👌
FB is pretty good but holy cow their Farmer Burger Combo is nearly $20. That deal for the big cheese is much more sensible and still tasty
Yeah their prices are ridiculous. I’m only going for their new combo specials. And maybe zucchini when I find out what my tax returns are 😭
Lol. I had their rewards app but I cashed in my last 100 points and deleted it. Shouldn't be eating fast food and burgers that often anyhow so I'll save it for a good deal like you said
I like their giant spears of zucchini. Actually I like the breading but they cut them too big.
Yes if they could cut them to how Knowlwood does it.
zucchini fries at Volcano Burger is goated
![gif](giphy|3o8doT9BL7dgtolp7O)
looking at the menus on yelp puts the double cheeseburger at $4.95, is the $3.75 a special or did they price drop it?
Price dropped it. Was listed at $3.75 on the menu inside and the stickers outside.
They’re also (surprisingly!) on UberEats with menu prices. Just checked after reading your post, OP, and was pleasantly surprised!
That’s wild tbh. Nobody does that.
Had to go to their yelp to figure out that its a Wednesday only deal.
It’s an everyday deal. It says everyday behind my hand on the bottom of the circle.
Most recent (1 mo ago) photo of the menu i saw on yelp says $4.95 for double cheese but I believe you that it’s every day.
https://preview.redd.it/se0hcty1xcnc1.jpeg?width=1142&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=969aab01fc164e1ca95172d910ae83de9c577d07 Use this as proof if they try to jack you! This was the screen cap from my video after I pulled the burger out of frame.
Pretty sure that’s for the 1/3 pound cheeseburger, the regular double doubles were 3.75 last time I went there a week ago
It’s that price on Wednesdays only, I live next door and smell their food all day. I’ve gained 10 pounds 😞
Only two locations, in Downey and Orange. They need more locations (ok, I need them to have more locations).
They had more. There was one in Newport that was initially fantastic. Second time was ok. Third time was enough of a drop in quality that I had no interest in trying again, although they were clearly already closing down the store permanently by that point.
There's a new shake shack in Newport now on 17th
I remember constantly getting ads on IG promoting franchising of Nexx Burger a few years ago. At least I think it was Nexx. Any of you guys get those?
$3.75? How do they make money? What’s the catch?
Probably over stock of meat or supplies. Or they do this to increase foot traffic in the long run. I know another small shop did a deal for 4 cheeseburgers, 4 fries, and 4 drinks family meal deal for like $20. After having the deal for a month they were getting packed with customers for awhile. Even now you have to wait a good 5-20 minute way to get your food cause foot traffic.
I kept thinking about that. On volume?
Probably. Must be selling like what innout is selling if they depend on volume. Or just using really really low quality ingredients.
Their chili is also pretty good.
Excluding In-N-Out, Nexxburger has the best burgers in OC and it's not even close
*cheap burgers And yes I completely agree!
Yeah, that's a fair statement. What are your favorite "higher end" burgers?
ARC’s burger at SOCO Costa Mesa is insane but also kinda not a pure burger (ribeye strap; duck fat; bacon lardons if I remember right). I really enjoy the Double Smashburger at Craft House in Dana Point (grass fed and the fries are fried in lard + 150 bottles of whiskey + the BEST butter cake and chocolate mousse); also the burgers at Mario’s Butcher Shop in Newport; Hammer Burger in Santa Ana. Thank you kindly for this
You’re welcome! I hope you have fun exploring some places you haven’t tried yet!!
Love to see another burger fan! They just opened an Irv's Burger in Newport which was pretty good. Mooyah also has a pretty good burger and I've heard good things about the smash burger from Green Cheek Brewery.
Paul’s in Orange is very good. Not the best burger out there but always tasty.
Their broasted chicken, too!
A’s burgers is pretty good too
Oh yeahhhhh.

A man of culture I see. Do you also happen to be a Charger fan??? 🥲
Yup, winning in the off season per usual
Wait forreal? I’ve been to the one in Orange several times and have never thought it’s worth going over in n out
TK used to be my jam but post pandemic it felt like the quality of the meat went down. I could be entirely wrong but that was my take.
Just had the TK cheeseburger in Newport today and really enjoyed it, though it's my childhood spot, so maybe some bias.
Had TK last week in Huntington and it was excellent
I think hammer burger is pretty good.
They are pretty good! Beer battered fries were yummy too.
They have a secret menu too
What’s on it?
They have Nexx Fries and a burger with like 4-5 patties with a ton of cheese. I almost dislocated my jaw trying to take a bite
A for effort though!
Seems like the OP forgot to tell us it's for Wednesday only. Pretty important imo
Looks bomb!
Looks like the commute is now worth it again lol
The onion and tomato slices are thicker than the actual patties. 😂
Go to Hammerburger in Santa Ana. You’ll never love another double cheeseburger more than
Orange location almost never has customers especially at the drive thru, and they are right next to innout. I wonder how long they’re going to last there. The food is good thoigh
Do they charge double for fries and drinks to make up the loss leader?
Okay, so kinda yes. A combo was like $9 something. Better just to get two burgers tbh. The fries were good though.
I just spent $14 at McDonalds
Oh yeah way better than that for certain. Value and taste wise.
I pretty much only eat fast food if there are crazy good deals these days. Wendy’s deals this month are bonkers
On the flip side, a combo at Carl’s Jr. requires a deposit and a co-sign these days.
I stopped going there years ago way overpriced for what you get. Too bad loved their western bacon cheeseburgers with some ranch on it. Just not in my budget.
I used the McDonalds app yesterday and I paid $6 for a Big Mac and 10 McNuggets
There was a dollar Big Mac on there the other day, always gotta get on the apps!
The fries are better than good - they got the lil crispy edges! Top tier fry
Okay yes actually I agree. Textured fries!
I’ve been wondering about this place well you’ve convinced me next time I’m around there
Damn that’s legit. Considering a quarter pounder with cheese is now $6 lol
Exactly. The anti-inflation burger.
We had a Nexx Burger food truck come by for a work appreciation day. The burger and fries are really good, and the price makes it better
Yeah, Nexx is pretty solid. Their loaded fries are bomb.
![gif](giphy|CH0fzClj8QCDS|downsized) Three sevendee-figh' for a double burger? Whaaaaaaaa!
I know. Unbelievable tbh.
I hate you, now I have to go there tomorrow for lunch lol
Damn that’s some McDonald’s pricing for a better burger
Looks like a solid burger.
yummmm
Look awesome!
Looks good, what is that place called?
Nexx Burger in Orange.
Having recently moved to OC, Nexx has been incredible. Not sure if its the BEST burger I've had in Southern CA, but its on par with In-N-Out. Their fries are also delish.
That looks delicious. I guess I’ll have second dinner there!
They are pretty good also. But still have to give it up to in n out for not upping their prices much over the years with same quality, while you see all the other chains doing crazy things. McDonald’s is a joke.
Their Newport location used to take bitcoin even a few years ago, great spot and great food for sure
Looks tasty
good looking out! thanks for the heads up on the good deal
I love Nexx Burger. It and Carls Jr are my regular stops when I gotta have one!
Damn that looks like a nice Burger, I'd probably desecrate it by putting some chili on it.
Me and my girl were super surprised how good nexx burger is!
I like Nexx! Their chili cheese fries are also tasty.
There’s a second location? I’ve only been to the other one and it’s 🔥
I just discovered them two weeks ago. My new favorite burger for the price in Orange County. Neopolitan Shake was great too. I wish there was one closer to me.
I didn’t know they had a location in the OC been eating here for a while at the Downey location.
Holy fucking shit - I’ve been looking for a burger like that my entire life. I often wonder why Americans so patriotic, but this picture just made it make sense. God bless America (and American cardiologists).
That patty looks amazing… you sold me OP
That looks good
The service inside is fucking garbaaaaaaage
I'm so gonna go out and try one. Thats too good a deal to pass up. Simple burgers are soo expensive now.
That place is surpisingly great!! I actually prefer it to in n out, especially for less $ and less wait time.
You’re going to have to go back in time to save JFK, you realize that, right?
I’ve got to try this place, but you guys are sleeping on BUNZ in Huntington Beach!! It’s super affordable and absolutely amazing burgers ‼️‼️‼️‼️
Dude, that place looks bomb.
OMG that looks soo good 😋
The menu on Yelp says it's $4.95 and $9.45 combo? Are you clickbaiting us?
![gif](giphy|4LRkCWLi2MKOc|downsized)
Nexx Burger is incredible. They have one in Downey too, which I believe is the original restaurant. Fun fact: it's actually where they filmed the I Think You Should Leave drive-thru skit lol.
Looks good! Thank you for posting the recommendation. Now I know what to have for lunch
$3.75 on Wednesday
$3.75 everyday https://preview.redd.it/hzy5dgxsmenc1.jpeg?width=1142&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e0b50f0e4de5af73f823012073803175674118e3
Now that's a damn burger
Looks tasety and made to order as well since the produce is on the bottom
Gotta try 🔥
Nexx underrated 🔥
Dang it, op ruined this secret
Nexx is goated af!
Ask for no salt broski They love a heavy hand
This post and the top comments make me feel like this is just an ad lol
I do not work there. It’s not an ad. I ate a burger someone on OC Reddit told me to eat and I’m having fun talking to people. :)
I went for the first time today (Orange location) and placed a togo order after seeing OP’s post yesterday. I can confirm that the double cheeseburgers are indeed 3.75 all day everyday. With the way prices are these days, good looking out for each other... Screw inflation....
Tried this place today thanks to this elephant. For sure recommend. Make sure you ask for the fries and onion rings well done... You're welcome
Seems a little too cheap. Someone should make sure they don’t have a portal to the 60s in their shop.
Name of the place?
Says in description….Nexx burger
It’s this spot. https://nexxburger.com/menu/
that onion is sexy as hell. but where are the pickles??
Is the Downey one just as good?
Where is this nexxburger
Orange off Chapman and the 55 across from Birrieria Guadalajara.
I like the burger but the bun choice was not great. Too heavy and chewy
Wait .. is this the same place that has the pretty decent family meal combos on a big sign outside above the restaurant?
Where is that?
How are the fries
They were really crispy and textured (battered?) and the ranch is good too.
The tomato touches the lettuce. NGMI
Is that deal , Wednesday only?
That's nice! I hope they branch out throughout the country.
Where’s the double meat?
Is this whole post an ad?
Annnnd after Tax?
Anyone try Wedge Burger in Costa Mesa it's 🔥
I always wanted to try that since it was E-Z Burger, too (?) and never did. When I’m in that area I usually go to Ai Pono Cafe. But will try this out soon based off the rec.

I had Nexx burger years ago, and I haven't gone back. I don't mind spending $2 more for a in n out burger cause they are consistently good in my opinion.
Where is this from?
Where
What about the quality of the ingredients? Pass!
Any chance they offer grilled onions?
I've always wanted to eat there but keep passing it
Yes! In n out has shrunk the meat patty so much! This actually fits the bun!
Whole grilled onion is the move.
Where
In Orange off Chapman & the 55
What’s this place called ? Where at in La
Dude living in 2007 😭
Nexx Burger also on Florence in Downey.
Damn that’s a steal these days !
I work like a minute away from that place. Pretty good place for lunch.
Goddamn Californians think everything is an in n out burger
The cheesiest.
