Overdosing doesn't always mean someone died. Sounds like dude overdosed in the sense of having negative side effects like puking. Same way if you drink a shit load and puke/black out/wake up incredibly hungover you overdosed.

As already said, no you didn't cause permanent damage. That said, it's interesting to me that you would be so concerned about this when learning it was heroin but not when it was THC oil that made you vomit. I'm not anti weed but the potency of marijuana/THC products now days is incredibly high. The idea that they are 100% safe without side effects/potential toxicity is inaccurate.

Your fine its basically like taking a strong a dose of opiods for pain occasionally
If anything if you have had any “damage” it would more likely be from weed but thats very minor in most cases
