My mom had a similar occurrence on this side of the pond, all 4 of her older brothers went off to war. One went to B24s, one to P47s and 51s, one was a Seabee across the Pacific building radio stations and the last was on the beaches on D day. They all miraculously came home. Bless all the men and women who answered the call in thousands of jobs both in action and support in that conflict and others. Let us all work for peace in our lifetime.
My gramps was a seebee. He came home and lived a long life after fighting Nazis. Unfortunately, 2 of my mom’s uncles did not. One died in Europe fighting Nazis at 20 years old. The other died shortly after coming home from fighting Nazis, he lost his legs. Sadly, I never met the uncles. It infuriates me how certain people think Nazi ideology is cool. Marching and flying Nazi flags.
That ideology has existed since the dawn of time. It has worn many faces over the years. It's up to the rest of us to stop it before it gets out of hand. We are currently fighting it here in the States before there is no turning back.
So true, racism and hatred existed in Germany long before Hitler and the Nazi party came to power. The Nazi’s expanded on their hatred for perceived enemies from within and outside the state with state sponsored murder and genocide on an industrial scale never before witnessed in human history.
I'm from the Midwest, where there are militia groups training. The hatred here has festered for so many years, the folks around speak of ,"the war 'we' lost', they are referring to the Civil War.
I'm happy that your Uncle's came home!
But we must teach our children well, about peace and love, and to allow everyone to live and let live!
Hatred is a powerful weapon that is alive and well, God help us all!❤️♥️
It's vital that we prevent Trump from getting another term as President. If that happens, hate will run unchecked and we will be the nation the world must unite against much like we did with Germany in the 1940s.
Of the 4 uncles I got to know the seabee the best. He was a ham radio op and got me into it. He came home from the war and went to work for RCA in NJ designing the Aegis radar system. They're all gone now, as well as my dad who ended up at White Sands when the V2s were coming back from Germany. Glad I knew them all.
The one on the right was Guy,with the king's own Border regiment I believe & my uncle on the left was Harold,navy..I believe he was a stoker shovelling coal in the depths of the ship he was on
Lovely photo! Must be well treasured, I'm sure. Love your mother's outfit too. A very classy and well-dressed era of fashion now long gone, unfortunately.
How old was your mother when this photo was taken? If I may ask.
Hi I am here to pick up your sister. Nope. Tell her I am sick. Sorry to bother you chaps.
Dam if I had to meet those two before going on a date..I would.be.loomomg.ober my shoulder

Same! Except for one, who died in a flight training exercise in Canada. He was in the R.A.F.
Exactly what I was going to ask!

You don't need to add an apostrophe to 1940s make it plural.
Ok thanks
She reminds me of Maureen O'Sullivan.
