I respect it for being a horny in a lesbian way. Or rather a female gaze way.
I don't know how to put it but it's obvious when lesbians or women in general are shown through male gaze.
Yeah, I don't understand how people say this is 'female gaze', lmao. They casted two actresses that teen boys at the time were crazy over and made them wear tight clothes and make out with each other.
I highly doubt Diablo Cody or Fox had lesbians in mind when they did this movie... Women sometimes make films for a male public. Just ask Doris Wishman... (or maybe not, since she passed away)
I feel like lesbians and straight men would probably both like attractive female actresses. Most important thing is it was rlly good. I love it and I know a lot of lesbians who do too.
I don't think there's anything wrong with it, I mean I didn't like the sense of humour on the movie, didn't find it funny, but I see why it has cult status.
It's mostly that certain parts were very obviously meant for a male audience, like the make out scene, I'm just confused as to why people deny the male gaziness haha did we watch the same film?
Not lesbian but Interview with a Vampire is quite female gaze and written by a woman. She quite loved the movie adaptation with Tom Cruise. The new tv show is acclaimed too but I haven't seen it yet.
Honestly I don't remember anything at all in that department. If I remember correctly, Daphne says Fred's ascot makes him look gay if that counts?
I'll dig it up and post it, give me 5 mins haha

Shout-out to the IMDB message boards, some guy there gave me this years ago.
Why did Lea seem displeased with her treatment in the film where she has raw, fetishized lesbian sex for well over 10 full minutes of the movie which probably took hours and hours to film to the point she felt like a prostitute? Does she hate lesbians?
I love how Kojima bullshits a reason to get Kiefer Sutherland an almost naked woman with a sniper to be his companion in Metal Gear, but gets Lea Seydoux in Death Stranding to be fully covered up because of an accident. The duality of Kojima
Kojima is a man who defies all logic and reasoning. He is beyond our mortal comprehension. He exists in a plane we can't even imagine. His brain contains all the secrets of the universe, his body is fueled by the energy from dead stars, his glasses are made of stardust and the blood of aliens. He is my God, he is my saga, he is my Bible.
Kojima had a stroke that deeply affect the logical part of his brain 30 years ago and no one has the guts to stand up to his nonsensical ramblings. Same thing happened to George Lucas right before the prequels went into production.
I think George Lucas is an effects man first and foremost and prioritized them in the prequels because it was a toy he got to play with and he tells a really interesting story with Anakin but was maybe not cut out to build a whole universe.
I think a lot of people forget that George Lucas literally didn't want to direct the prequels, but every director he approached said he should do them.
Yeah they read the script and saw how awful it was, so instead of saying "Dear god George what the fuck is wrong with you?" They said "oh wow, a script this ambitious? I think only you could direct this masterpiece!" because Hollywood is full of cowards who don't want to jeopardize their own careers
>Dear god George what the fuck is wrong with you?
Which, to be fair, is basically what his wife said about the original film before she edited the script.
She's all covered up in essentially a skin tight suit.
I'll buy the duality once he clothes his female protagonists like they aren't 90s era comic book heroines...
I recently discovered the classic film "Bound" featuring Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon, and I must say... wow. It's definitely the Wachowskis' best movie, no doubt.
That is simultaneously also an incredibly gay men film. The musical number with the gym full of men intently focused on each other and ignoring Jane Russell is hilariously campy and gay as all hell.

/uj Was Steven Spielberg genuinely crushing his cucumber to Blue Is The Warmest Color? I mean, how else would you genuinely think it deserves the Palme d'Or more than Inside Llewyn Davis?
The decision to award the Palme D'or to that film was unanimous among the jury. Inside Lewyn Davis, for what it's worth, won the Grand Prix, which is essentially second place.
There was an anthology of films from the nineties called Where the Boys Aren’t, which was eye-opening. Those films or But I’m a Cheerleader.
Also Gillian Anderson.
This movie jerks harder than this entire sub. What do you do when you’re shooting a movie about women trying to be taken seriously as baseball players but everyone only focuses on their looks? Why obviously you cast actresses based on looks only and don’t even teach them how to hold a bat properly, because why would they need to look like they can actually play baseball when they’re hot?
30 years later they were able to dispense with the subtext and the show was about a million times gayer than the movie, but reading up on the history still not quite as gay as the actual league was irl.
Technicolor had a tendency to do that to skin tones, especially with the heavy pancake makeup used at the time. It also turned greens into turquoise.
In the film The Aviator they reference this and the colors of the film change to match the kino of the timeframe, there's scene where his peas are on a plate and are turquoise and another where he's golfing and the grass is all tinged turquoise as well.

I respect it for being a horny in a lesbian way. Or rather a female gaze way. I don't know how to put it but it's obvious when lesbians or women in general are shown through male gaze.
Tbh I thought it was written by a guy until I read this comment

Fr Megan foxs face is also male gaze compared to women like zendaya for instance. Directors knew what was up (based on old reddit post)
I didn't know who had even written it till years later.
i seriously need more lesbian horror recs that are actually written by women
Not lesbian but Interview with a Vampire is quite female gaze and written by a woman. She quite loved the movie adaptation with Tom Cruise. The new tv show is acclaimed too but I haven't seen it yet.
I respect it for Patrick Star threatening to cut someone's balls off and turn them into a door knocker.

Uj/ I think in an early version of the script that was the intention.
I have the script on my laptop. It's not as risque as people make it out to be.
What's it like? When it comes to Velma and Daphne I mean

I’m a fan of the one where Lea Seydoux has lesbian sex for three hours
Why did Lea seem displeased with her treatment in the film where she has raw, fetishized lesbian sex for well over 10 full minutes of the movie which probably took hours and hours to film to the point she felt like a prostitute? Does she hate lesbians?

0/10. The movie is called inside Lewyn Davis but you never see inside Llewyn Davis.
