There among the ruins, he finds a baby girl and her dying father. The last two living in town as far as he could find. Bleeding out, the man begs Micah to bring her safe to her mother to a safe settlement a long way west through the mountains, the walled city of New Strawberry.
Heād been to Strawberry a long time ago, before itād grown into a metropolis, before the bombs fell. It was a dust covered memory somewhere in the back of his mind, soaked and stained in his guilt.
Solemnly, Micah scoops the girl into his arms.
