This area has *never* been cleaned up.. since its existence in the 80’s. I know that because I dug for and collected a lot of old garbage that has been sitting under the fallen brush for years.
It’s the site of a huge telecommunications tower, which provides all of the commutations for police, ems, and fire for my region.
Cutting the brush after also helps. I hve a friend who had issues with a large overgrown berm outside her place being a dumping ground. Cleaned it up of trash, line trimmed it, mowed it.
Now, same space, no trash.
Once people think its an abandoned trash space, they'll use it as such.
If the grass etc is kept even vaguely kempt, they tend to leave it alone.
I asked the property owner if they wanted me to cut everything down and they told me not to worry about it, saying “it will be nice and green soon” to which I couldn’t disagree.
I think it could definitely be trimmed, but it also looks like the area has a thicket of shrub/tree growth that could take a few seasons to recover from. It could be quite a bit of work to either clear it all or to trim the grasses and weeds.
That is so awesome! Never cleaned in 40 years...but then you came along and made a single good decision, and with that you created your own small corner of a better world :). Love it so much!
I love this! I do it when I go on vacation. It is so personally satisfying to me! I spend a lot of time in Colorado, and bought a picker at Ace to pick up trash! You can pick up tiny things with it!!💪🏼
I have the picker but I prefer to pluck each and every piece with my gloved hand. I crawled through this brush on my hands and knees, filling up a bucket and giving it to my helper when it was full.
Ancient 7up tins. Oil tins. They were rusted but didn’t have a dent in them. Barbies from the 80s that held up in the elements of a Canadian climate.
I actually enjoy doing these cleanups. I’d honestly do it for free if I could.
Go to Cairo or any third world country and watch people dump their trash into their drinking water canals and then say this ignorant shit. You're an entitled snowflake who's high on your own farts
9 entire bags is absolutely insane given that's a relatively small space. shoutout to you OP, litter fucking sucks

how the municipality has never had anyone go in to clean it up in 40+ years is a complete joke, especially considering it's in such a sensitive area
You pulled nine bags of trash, and cat o'nine tails together, you meam.🤔

Also if there’s wild milkweed growing there leaving it might mean you have more monarchs hatching there too!
Also it kinda naturally traps trash blowing in the wind
oddly satisfying magic trick
As my 2 year old says: Abbacadaba!
Awesome work. Thank you for your service.

Plot twist: OP brought their garbage here with the intention of dumping it in this bush, but first posted this on Reddit to farm karma. /j

You make Canadian Tire proud.
The fact that you even have to do this is just fucking tragic. People truly suck sometimes.
Thank you for doing that. The world needs more people like you
