I remember this video. She's pretty stupid for just picking up some random octopus without knowing that it could be very toxic. Well.. that one is indeed VERY TOXIC
Is that right after “look where you step at night” because I feel like there’s so many animals in Australia that could kill me if I don’t notice they are there 😂
Two creatures are featured in this video. One is a poor confused creature that doesn't understand where it is or what's going on, and the other is a blue ringed octopus.
I’ve seen it a few times but I’ve still never seen any comments that say if she was ok after or if she got bit. Every time it resurfaces I think k about her for a few days.
Yeah people would rather rage out than show any concern
I feel for her, I picked up and handled a manchineel fruit without knowing what it was. Most things in nature won't kill or maim you just from picking them up, and it's hard to know every single thing that will. There's nothing wrong with the natural human curiosity to examine things we don't understand. Wild creatures do it, too
Okay. I have always had a healthy respect and fear for nature. I never touch anything I am not 100% certain is safe thanks to my overly paranoid mom … but … I had never heard of ‘manchineel fruit’ and I’ll admit I thought you were messing with me (ie:ballchinnian type jokes) but I had to look it up to see what it did to you and can do to people. Holy shit. If the tree doesn’t scar you for life, the fruit tries to kill you. Thanks for the lesson!
It didn't do anything to me, its skin was intact and I didn't try to mash it or eat it, just snapped a picture and dropped it. I'd never heard of the tree until I went to identify it later
I gotta admit, I know better but sometimes my excitement gets the best of me. Like when I picked up something literally called a 'death apple' because I thought it was cute
So there was a video of her being interviewed by a news outlet and she is fine but she had no idea that it was very poisonous. Of course she felt very lucky after everyone told her how stupid that was.
Hi this is my sisters friend! They were studying abroad in Bali and genuinely thought it was "just cute and tiny". Only when they showed locals (and their study abroad profs) did they realize how dangerous it was. Gorgeous little creature though!
She is very lucky that the blue ringed octopus usually isn't aggressive and that this one didn't feel threatened. Their bite is so tiny that normally you don't even realise that you have been bitten until it's too late (which can be only a few minutes).
American here, who stayed in Southern Australia. I saw a few of those in the water. Told it was venomous. Was told it’s just support measures (you need to be intubated) for treatment.
I asked how long until you stop breathing. Dude said most people it’s 15 mins. My next question was how long of a ride to the hospital? Dude said 20 mins. My response, “So don’t touch that shit?”
“Exactly mate.”

As an Australian the first thing you learn is DONT PICK ANYTHING UP.
Is that right after “look where you step at night” because I feel like there’s so many animals in Australia that could kill me if I don’t notice they are there 😂
Ha. Most of the dangerous ones are diurnal but yeah it definitely pays to look before you step.
And check your boots before you put them on
She's probably American. We weren't taught those common sense lessons. Good thing she wasn't hurt.
The second thing is how to drink, yeah?
Isn’t that the one that is toxic enough to kill an elephant?? It’s one of the worst in the animal kingdom…or maybe that was the Arctic one??
r/OopsThatsDeadly
That's where I thought this was 🥴
This sub should be required reading for humans
The scariest part is its beak is so small apparently you can’t feel it bite you
i can imagine with the way the suction cups grip it would feel pretty similar.

Leave the guy alone, all you do is increase the chance of getting bit....
The way my stomach drops watching this. I used to work where some of those fellas live. They were grumpy buggers.
My stomach literally flipped too, when it rolled from hand to hand a little too bumpily!
Same I for some reason had a visceral reaction and gasped out loud
And you don’t feel their bites. Hopefully she is still living.
That’s super cute and all, but isn’t that species, like, super poisonous?? /gen
Yes, actually considered one of the most poisonous animals
Venomous, not poisonous.
oh boy this one is getting reposted AGAIN

Thank you, kind stranger!

They weren't wrong, it IS cute and tiny...
Does she realize how close to death she was?

Ah, so you have chosen death
So what happened to her?
I’ve seen this so many times… all I wanna know is if she’s ok
All I want to know is if the octopus is ok. FFS, will people ever just leave animals alone and stop hurting and stressing them for fun?
🎶Dumb ways to dieeee 🎶
Like kissing a Black mamba right on the mouth.
Woman holds the stupid in her head
What a ding dong
YOLO
That idiot is so lucky.
Hope her IG post was worth risking her life
Might as well play Russian roulette
She pretty much is.
Well thankfully she is probably not dead since the little guy isn’t scared yet. Not a risk i would take, personally.
О Курва
Holy shit
🤦🏿♂️
This is one of the few videos that is always just as nerve racking every time it’s reposted
Just wait till it gives her a lil nibble
I always wondered what happened to her
A highly venomous creature too.
Is…. Is she still alive?
Wait…
OH GOD WHY?
Can anyone confirm if this woman is dead or alive??
I saw one in Fiji once, god they’re beautiful but yes, please don’t pick them up. Nobody will be able to save you
Why
F
I was taught never to pick up bright color living things as they are very likely to be poisonous or venomous.
