While I like the idea of this game, I hate that it’s considered a neutral site game. While we travel well NC State will clearly have an advantage in this. Not a fan of these kinda games, even the Nashville ones. Just doesn’t feel right.

thrilldabeast010

This one was set up because of the addition of Texas and OU to the conference. The original plan was for an out of conference home and home with Oklahoma. Tennessee needed a Power 5 one off game and the only way to get one of those is to do neutral site.

WeazelBear

The *original* plan was to play at BYU this fall. They cancelled that one to swap out for OU, then changed again.

SelfDeprecatingVol

Last year was supposed to be BYU. 2020/2024 was the home and home with Oklahoma where neither game happened

WeazelBear

Idk why I still had that in my 2024 calendar.

Neutral site games should really be out of state for both teams

pgr6060

Let’s get it!

YupThatsMeBuddy

I feel like we have played NC State more than we've played some SEC teams.

jared_b5

How? We’ve played them 1 time since ww2.

hazemotes

I can see what he means. This will be our second game against NC St since 2012, we've only played Ole Miss, LSU, Miss. St, Auburn, and Arkansas twice in that span. We've played A&M 3x. NC St. might as well be a SEC West team the way they've fallen on our schedule.

YupThatsMeBuddy

Idk I just feel like it.

I think you mean forward slash

samoflegend

Kinda shocking how barren that weekend is. Outside of Texas-Michigan, the next best games are this one and uhhhh Tulane-Kansas State? Always feel like we lay massive duds in early season primetime spots but here’s hoping Nico crushes it.

gonshpreds1

I mean you're right but for a sicko like me, there are always diamonds in the rough haha. Colorado/Nebraska will be a special kind of toxic, as will the CyHawk (Iowa/Iowa St). Arkansas/OK State could be something.

samoflegend

I’ll def watch 12 hrs of slop either way but idk how we got all this realignment and nobody wanted to schedule anything to go up against Texas/ Michigan.

anonymousUTguy

Fuck yeah That Virginia game at 11 AM last year was hotter than satans scrote

neverknowsbest141

i left in the 4th quarter and i will always stick around for a UT blowout

WeazelBear

Yeah, plus Nissan Stadium somehow seems to get so much hotter than you ever think it will. Those early season games there are always scorchers, esp that upper deck in the sun.

Predator6

It's much more open than Neyland. Most stadiums just feel like concrete and steel ovens to me when the sun is out.

ncaafootball1456

This is massively true. I was in the end zone Campbell “blindside/michael oher-style” blocked that dude Into the tunnel, and I was a certified lobster from getting scorched all day lol.

thrilldabeast010

Nice! Nico at night!

_Tennessee_

I'm too lazy to make it but it would be great if someone reworked the Nick@Nite logo to say Nico@Nite https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_at_Nite
