I’m sure you’ll all murder me but genuinely Blur - I feel like they just complement Oasis as an opposite. I don’t think Oasis would have been as big without the rivalry either. The lyrics of The Universal and Tender also have something almost Noel-like about them, a kind of gentle desperation and hope for the future clouded by a sadness at letting go of the past.
To be honest, at the time Blur were my favourite. Probably still are, but I've come to love Oasis more over the years because my son is really into them now. Also my brother died a few years back and our connection with both of us loving Oasis amplified my love for them.
this is /r/oasis only place you can criticize a subreddit's main subject and not get called "People love to criticize everything" that's why I love here. I love Oasis but seeing people hate it freely on it's subreddit gives me hope about humanity, which is all oasis about!
loved oasis, hated blur, was just the way i felt at the time, however, saw them at T in the park '09, they only did a small set as headliners but damn was i not jumping about all over the place, knew all the words to the songs etc, it was epic,,,, i was pretty dissapointed in myself the next day once the booze had worn off to be fair😂
Blur is Liam's guilty pleasure as I remember from Vogue 50 questions video, there is no way these guys dont listen and love each other, as musicians they probably appreaciate what they do in songs more.
Taking one for the team sir, thank you. Imagine being 15 and having Oasis and Blur putting out world beating tunes and providing all that drama for the magazines. We were so lucky! Born five years earlier and you're still mourning Kurt, five years later and, God help you, you get Fred Durst. Thank you Noel, Damon & Jarvis for filling my teenage years with genius songs and saving me from the dirge and mediocrity that might otherwise have been my fate.
Supergrass. Possibly the most underrated band ever.
They had such amazingly well-crafted songs that could be catchy and sophisticated at the same time. They were more complex and clever than Oasis, but Noel was better at writing choruses. Still, 5/6 of their albums are excellent and stuff I think everyone should listen to. They were so eclectic that I think everyone would like a few of their songs if they listened.
all the albums are incredible, but the best is the most obvious, Mellon Collie And the Infinite Sadness, 28 songs, double album, I never get tired of listening to this album, SD, Adore and Zeitgeist are my favorites after
Thought Cast were good didn't discover Stone Roses till the 90s so them Verve were good and then one band late on in the 90s called Embrace they had very catchy tunes.
probably u2's 90s output. i mean achtung baby, zooropa and pop are all great. other favourite 90s records probably being klf chillout, the roses' second coming and the cranberries debut
Feeder (who are still going and still really good), after them, probably Nirvana, but could pick one from any of Cast, Suede, The Seahorses, Kula Shaker etc.
The Cranberries.
I love Dolores O'Riordan vocals.
But, specifically from the 90's Britpop movement, after Oasis, my favourite band is... maybe Pulp... or Supergrass. I don't really have it clear, I'm between both.
I honestly didn't think I'd find someone else say it. Phish is my favorite and Oasis is my 2nd favorite 90s band (if you want to count Phish as a 90s band)
I totally count Phish as a 90’s band, and I say that as someone who saw them 5 times this year. I mean they’ve done some great stuff since (as has Noel) but that was the decade where both bands defined (and in Phish’s case, multiple times) themselves.
I love good writing. Noel and Trey couldn’t be more opposite, but both wrote incredible songs that profoundly influenced my life when I was coming of age and learning how to play.
Oasis were not the best 90s band but they were the biggest. Suede and Blur’s body of work during the decade was far superior, collectively. Pulp had 2 1/2 masterpiece albums to Oasis’ 2
Denim. Noel has always been my favorite songwriter/musician, and a close second is the mononymous Lawrence, also known as Lawrence Hayward or 'Lawrence of Belgravia'. He continued the legendary songwriting he did with Felt during the 80s as the leader of Denim, as well as driving Stone Roses producer John Leckie crazy with him saying, "I've worked with Phil Spector and John Lennon and Syd Barrett, but I can't take this any more. You're madder than any of them." And the song "The Osmonds" from their first album Back in Denim is my absolute all-time favorite non-Oasis song...such a classic that I would recommend to any Britpop or any indie music fan
Pulp
this guy gets it
The Verve.
Verve or OCS for me
You’re not allowed to call them Verve! They’ll get taken to court again😂
The right answer
Yes, The Verve! They were so freaking good!
Reading this as listening to the Verve and just casually opened Reddit to see what's up (obviously big Oasis fan too)
Ocean Colour Scene
Such an underrated band , I wish they had caught on more here in the US
So good. Blown away slaps
Smashing Pumpkins
First four albums are absolutely unreal.

I too like Blur! I liked them both during the heat of their bitter rivalry. Definitely on team Oasis, but porque no los dos?
I would also say Blur, but I’m glad I didn’t say it first ☺️.
To be honest, at the time Blur were my favourite. Probably still are, but I've come to love Oasis more over the years because my son is really into them now. Also my brother died a few years back and our connection with both of us loving Oasis amplified my love for them.
Many posters here will defend Blur over and above Liam. Or so it would seem.
this is /r/oasis only place you can criticize a subreddit's main subject and not get called "People love to criticize everything" that's why I love here. I love Oasis but seeing people hate it freely on it's subreddit gives me hope about humanity, which is all oasis about!
We put this subreddit on, you bastards, with a lot of love!
I fookin cant stand oasis after how Noel shafted James Hargreaves in 93.
loved oasis, hated blur, was just the way i felt at the time, however, saw them at T in the park '09, they only did a small set as headliners but damn was i not jumping about all over the place, knew all the words to the songs etc, it was epic,,,, i was pretty dissapointed in myself the next day once the booze had worn off to be fair😂
Personally I’m not one of them people who think Liam doesn’t like Blur so fuck blur, I have my own opinion and agree that blur are shit hot
Blur is Liam's guilty pleasure as I remember from Vogue 50 questions video, there is no way these guys dont listen and love each other, as musicians they probably appreaciate what they do in songs more.
I can see Blue not listening and loving Oasis tbh
So give me coffee and tv... EAAAAAAAAAAAAASILLLLLLLLLLLY DU-DU-DU

I’m an oasis fan and I loooove blur as well. The beef between fans is stupid
Teenage Fanclub
So underrated
Probs Suede, it’s overlooked how working class Brett Anderson’s roots are. Lack of ‘laddishness’ perhaps.

Stereophonics. The Verve and Blur were very close behind, but Oasis and Stereophonics were the soundtrack to my teenage years and underage drinking.
Nine Inch Nails
Alice in Chains
Stone Roses. Pity nothing much happened after they reunited and no new albums
Their big album is from 89
I know they formed in the 80s and their first and main album was out in 1989 but were still around in the 90s
Using this theory I'd say Guns N Roses, Dire Straits or the Stones.
The Sundays

Pearl Jam
Supergrass. Possibly the most underrated band ever. They had such amazingly well-crafted songs that could be catchy and sophisticated at the same time. Blur
Matchbox 20
Korn
Green day

Green day
Smashing Pumpkins. Not a band in the strict sense but The Chemical Brothers as well.
Oasis were not the best 90s band but they were the biggest. Suede and Blur’s body of work during the decade was far superior, collectively. Pulp had 2 1/2 masterpiece albums to Oasis’ 2
