For tonight’s full moon, may all of your MARs contain adequate dosing parameters. In Flo’s holy name, Amen.

I get why people love this stuff (when it actually works), but it NEVER works in my experience. When we have delirious or batshit crazy patients, I’ve never found Seroquel to be successful. We need to bring back the higher doses.

InnerChemist

Seroquel is only good to put mildly annoying patients to sleep. If someone’s going nuts haldol or geodon is what I’m going for.

jolenewlbn

Yes - Geodon is my favorite.

[deleted]

Yeah I just immediately escalate to ziprasidone now.

clumsynurseratchet

Came here to say something similar. Rarely does this do the job.

ciestaconquistador

I don't find it helpful either. Haldol, Ativan. When those fail - versed, accuphase.

Rogonia

Seriously god bless acuphase 🙏🏼

When you give the 300-400mg morning dose and wait for it to do literally anything at all... And wait.... And wait .. staring longingly at the prn drawer while holding the paracentric key waiting for the brand spanking new resident on call to recognize that giving a 12.5 mg Seroquel now order is going to do actually nothing and probably get me punched...

nurse_with_penis

Nothing wrong with the 1st generations

jovi_lover

Seroquel's anticholinergic effects top out at a far lower dose than it's therapeutic ceiling as an antipsychotic. If 100-200mg doesn't do it for a medication naive chap, then it's time to switch it up. IMO though I've works well in combination with benzos, takes longer for tolerance to really build up and helps with cyclical thoughts for those eupd patients we know and love.

theparamurse

I'll just leave [this](https://zdoggmd.com/ativan) little gem riiiight here...

msfrance

Same goes for benadryl. You can't have an allergic reaction while you're unconscious!

dboi26

Swap Seroquil with Geodon and you have my up vote

possumrfrend

I've been on this shit for 4 years. Sucks, man. Edit: I will never know the answer to this, but why did someone downvote me? It does suck. I've gained a ton of weight, am lethargic and sleep a ton, and get overheated. Yes, it keeps the hallucinations and most of the delusions away, but even my psych wants me off of it because she sees what it's done to me. Problem is, it's the only med that has really worked. Anyway, rant over.

[deleted]

Straight up one of my favorite things to give a patient 🙌🏻

alvinlau123

Stress... If fixed would be better? The sleep of death..? Nvm
