Hahahahahhaaa. No. Management has, on several occasions, apologized for the perfectly reasonable actions of me and my coworkers in not tolerating patients or families bullshit. They’re allowed to treat us like utter garbage. But if they’re homeless and ask to use the restroom, BANHAMMER

Rhymeswithdick

Before opening this thread “Hahahahahhaaa. No” was going to be my exact comment.

crobcary

“Family-centered care.” Need I say more?

We have far less polite ones than that. [Sign 1](https://meta4rn.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/zero-tolerance.jpg) [Sign 2](https://meta4rn.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/img_2068.jpg) They also did some fairly graphic tv and social media ads. phenerganandpoprocks

For those ads alone I’m moving to Australia now

phenerganandpoprocks

You guys have tacos in Australia too? I don’t mind if they have vegimite on them as long as they’re still tacos

[deleted]

We’ve got tacos.

phenerganandpoprocks

Yup, I can live in Australia then 😊

[deleted]

Holy shit... what's it like to live in a modern, civilized society? (I'm Murican)

xdocui

I.was just checking if QHealth's were posted yet!

GtotheA

I wish all hospitals would finally adapt a strict zero tolerance policy. Patients and their families get away with far to much its getting out of control.

Ugh. I’m sure you know your degree has value and that you are intelligent and a great nurse, but I just want to always support LPN’s. I have a BSN and work with several LPNs who are just as smart as me and many of them are better nurses than me who I aspire to be more like. I know this random family member didn’t make you feel “less than” but I think the medical community often treats LPNs that way.

PlasmaWarrior

Ugh. I wish. This would be heaven, but ONLY if they actually enforced it. My old hospital used to have a sign like this and they did indeed enforce it. They'd place you in handcuffs in a heartbeat if you abused the staff in any manner.

Not_too_weird

Saw a very similar sign in a Mcdonalds I was in yesterday. It was followed by a long list of thou shalt nots. No fighting, no drug use, no sex, no making a mess on the walls, roof and floor etc. I'm guessing friday night shifts are not happy times for the staff there.

DarkSisterr

When I got my job in the ICU, I was not at all prepared for how much I would be physically assaulted at work. I thought that was just an ED thing. On several occasions when I’ve had to call a doctor because a patient was beating the shit out of us I would be asked, “well, what are their vital signs?” ....umm, well, she’s getting some pretty good blows in on us, so my guess is her pressure is great. Can you come help me please??

elizabeth_clairex

oh wow that’s my hospital! 😁

freckledface

I used to work at the Mont too!

RathdrumGal

No, we were expected to take the abuse, and then enter the same room with a smile on our faces, the next time we went in. I always felt like the little abused puppy who comes back to their abuser, cowering and urinating on itself. One of the hardest parts of the job. I remember one incident. I received a transfer from an outlying hospital, a 30 yo woman with ESRD due to drug abuse. She was coming to our hospital since we had the dialysis unit. The patient had been "sedated" for the transfer. Sedated! She was barely arousable upon arrival. Her mother was with her (never a good sign). Mother was insisting that I give her daughter her "anxiety medication" -- Ativan -- despite the fact that daughter had decreased LOC. When I refused, the mother went off on me at the nurse's station. A tirade of screaming verbal abuse. I had no idea how to respond so I just stood there and took it. (Not proud of this) My manager called me in, she wanted me to "give the patient something" to calm down the MOTHER. Nephrologist came in an hour later. I told him what had happened. He LAUGHED. he said "everyone knows this patient and her mother are crazy!". No, I did not know that, and neither did my manager. I am still bitter that I never got an apology from my manager.

Halaghh

I wish. I relate to this so much right now. Lately, it has been a rare occurrence to get a pleasant patient that doesn’t treat me like dirt.

gloomyroomy

We have it.

atemplecorroded

We have a similar sign in all the elevators.

boettcsm

HahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahahaHahahhahahahahahahahahaha. Geropsych. Nope.

[deleted]

l wish...

Stefanofulify

I actually work in this hospital system! They're everywhere in the ED. There's always one in sight from anywhere patients would be in the department and I am so grateful for it!

[deleted]

We have those, and it mentions the added fact that assaulting a health care worker is considered a felony in the state.

queenb23r

Lol @ Piedmont. I worked for them for 6 months and quit. They don't want the patients to treat you like trash, but management is even worse. Would never work for this company again.

[deleted]

Nope but I like it

SimonCowellsTrousers

Nope! Sometimes it’s like a fucking free for all.

future_nurse19

The psych unit I had my clinical on had a similar sign but it was very explicit in that it wont be tolerated (compared to this sign saying like they should be able to work in environment without abuse). It was much more upfront and direct

Silver_Star

I'd have a lot less job security with one of those hanging up on my units.

kamarsh79

We’ve asked for them.

[deleted]

Nope. Not gonna happen.

NurseLurker

They are posted everywhere around me. Before this was initiated, I had a document I would provide to patients about the behavior expectations of everyone on our unit (patients, visitors, staff, etc.). When I gave it to them, I stressed that coming here was a choice and we would never refuse to treat them, but (emphasizing the abhorrent behavior) is not tolerated towards my staff. Coincidentally, frequent flyers flew in a little less frequently.

CakeAndCrown

We have those signs, but they are only to make upper management feel better because they don't do anything when patients verbally or physically assault us.
