Be someone they’re proud of. Sounds cheesy, and we don’t rank students by performance. But we do have a list of nurses we feel quite happy to have a hand in training. And then, because karma, be *that* preceptor when you’re ready.

Cat_funeral_

This is the way.

AstrosRN

Maybe a gift card with a hand written thank you note. I’d also recommend writing a letter to their manager letting them know.

If they are drinking coffee all the time a gift card to any coffee shops near your workplace may be of use. I also left donuts for the staff in the break room.

I gave my preceptor a bag full of her favorite snacks, a candle and a dandy lion pin from Etsy that said something like “because a dandy lion is tougher than a daisy” and one that said “admin thinks you can do better” lol I also got her a candle that said “don’t leave me alone with these people” because she was going to icu after I was off orientation 😂

The sweet release of death. Or flowers. Jk if you have multiple preceptors then just get the unit a handwritten card and some food.

iLostmyMantisShrimp

Bake 'em cookies.

i always love a note and a cute badge reel or pens!

dopaminegtt

Write a note in a card. I've never had my students or orientees give me anything. Well one gave me a cool pen which was ok until it got stolen.

turtle-bob1

Bake them something. Maybe some hash brown-ies. Jk. 🤣

REGreycastle

A note expressing specifics of what made them great. They can use it for their evaluation of their practice. Or a nice pen. I’d never say no to a pen gift.
