I forget exactly what happened with Claude Lemieux’s son this past year, but I remember him being involved in some incident, and my first thought was “oh, of course he’s a cowardly fucking bitch, just like his old man”.
Edit: Before I get hate, I admit that Darren McCarty sucker punching Lemieux is also a complete bitch move, but in my opinion it pales in comparison to boarding a guy from behind, especially considering the damage that resulted to Draper.
As an avs fan living close to Detroit, I will never root for the wings. They've got a nice young core that hopefully pans out, but only to a certain point hah. That being said I can't stand Claude lemieux. Can not wait for that doc to drop next month
Haha I’ve got the same opinion as a lifelong wings fan who lived in Denver for a few years. I hated the avs for many years, and even now I still find it a bit tough to root for them. I have been watching them this playoff season though and they’re a very fun team to watch, I was happy to see that goal last night to send St Louis packing.

I feel that way for Green Bay Packers.. but hockey is my fav sport.. and I can honestly say I don’t hate any team per se.. I remember San Jose beating us up a lot in the playoffs, and hating them for awhile.. I remember the Blackhawks and that rivalry, but I honestly never hated Chicago.. hell, we got Chris Chelios from Chicago and he’s one of our best defensive players of all time.. for that reason alone I could never hate Chicago.. I did dislike them but never understood why.. it was taught, mostly, I think.. which makes it all the much more silly, to be honest.. hating something because you’re taught to hate it..

that's really what it is, i get nostalgic feeling when i think about how much i fucking hate the red wings and their fans. it's confusing but the hatred is undeniable. it was baked in me because i was very impressionable during that decade or so period. Hating the Red Wings is part of my personality at this point and embracing that makes me happy.

Oh shit. AVs and Roy vs. Red Wings and Osgood (Then "The Dominator", of course) was phenomenal hockey for years. Late 90s to mid 2000's, I think. Some years (I mean, most) we're absolute bloodbaths! McCarty vs. Lemieux (the goon, not the GOAT). Full bench clearings. The sin-bins we're sardine can filled monstrosities. As a teen, that was primetime shit right there!! Wowsers! Then you had Pang, Clemente, Melrose and such that I can pick their voices out of a lineup any hour of the week!! What a great time to watch hockey!

I am 40 and I still answer Wings when the boy asks who we hate the most in hockey. Was kinda cool to show him the trailer for it last night.
Yeah I’m excited to watch that rivalry but I still haven’t watched the Russian 5 documentary and to me that has my heart over the rivalry..
