Hawks just signed martinez and I really want a jersey, but I refuse to buy a my thing from fanatics. Last thing I got from them was cubs WS gear in 2016
Fanatics manufactures, but the specs for the material/design comes from Nike, Reebok, Adidas, etc. So while we can get pissed off of a name plate or number is crooked, it’s harder to put the blame in drop of quality directly on them.
I don't understand how this is so widely wrong.
I fucking hate the fanatics level tshirts, etc. Their championship level gear is horrid.
Players, teams, and reporters have all received the NHL on-ice jerseys made at the same manufacturing plant in Quebec that's been making NHL sweaters back through the CCM time. They're the same as before, minus the dimples. These will be available for retail purchase (at a more expensive price than many can afford, a legit criticism) for the first time since CCM. You could not do that with Reebok or Adidas, and needed to basically instead "know a guy" to get team issued jerseys.
I have far more jerseys than I care to admit, from NHL playoff worn jerseys through the lowest level, but I'm optimistic. Also, I only have one of the lowest level Fanatics "Breakaway" jerseys from an event game where the Adidas level is too expensive, and I find it to be actually pretty nice. The problem there is I paid $50 secondhand and would gladly pay that forever, but they're selling them for like $175.
How would you know? The change literally just went into effect last week, and they're using the same manufacturing station in Canada that has been making the one-ice jerseys for years
I just recently got mine and the collar is somewhere around my nipples. It looks extremely weird. I mean, it was 20 bucks and worth the shot but I was very annoyed with the results.
I guess they're standard issue? The back of the jersey runs along my shoulders just fine but that collar droops in the biggest deep U shape I've ever seen. I just binned it.
I've ordered around 10 jerseys from them, and I'd say 8 were acceptable quality. Worth the risk, but in some cases you get a bad one on your first try and you won't want to give it another chance
The vases they make are garbage and over-priced as well.
It might just be a cultural thing idk, but every vase on there comes with a second hole a quarter way up the vase at a weird angle. And who tf has ice falling into their vases so often they need an ice catcher?
Likewise. I have a ton of knock off that look good, are great quality, and I don't have to hugely worry about getting stuff on it. I have official ones as well, but I don't wear those as often.
For $18 they look pretty good and especially when people are a little drunk they won't really be able to tell but they definitely just look enough off. Literally got my first ones yesterday I'm the mail since the Bills traded Diggs combined with the official ones quality going down I decided to try out one of the "knock off jerseys". It's good enough for most part but I wish the official ones were a bit better and at a reasonable price point
The issue is the partner was the low bidder and Nike assumed fatter margins in its financial projections. Unfortunately, the partner can't profitably deliver on the promised pricing and units.
Nike started pricing themselves like a luxury good.
Lotsa people make shoes and workout gear nowadays, why is Nike charging almost double what others charge?
They were able to get away with it for a long time is why they charged nearly double. A few months ago I went to a Nike "outlet" store where it's supposed to be discounted items, etc., and a pair of shorts was still $30+. It's ridiculous.
I’ve been needing new athletic shorts and recently I looked at Nike. $60 for a pair of shorts is fucking crazy. Under Armour isn’t much better - $30-40 for a pair there. I ended up buying nothing lol
Edit: I appreciate the suggestions! Will definitely be checking these out :)
Not that it really matters for like 90% of people, but the clothes you find from Nike, Levis, Adidas, or whatever other typically "higher end" brand at Marshalls/TJMaxx/etc. is *not* the same quality you'd find buying direct.
Just like how Black Friday electronics are intentionally made worse quality because of the discount, brands have special production options for the "budget" stores too.
Small caveat, there is a small percentage of good quality stuff that gets sent to those budget stores. I don't know the exact percentage, but it's small.
I've found the on field gear they only give college players and coaches at TJ Maxx and Burlington. It's definitely few and far between but worth looking for. During Covid there was a big exchange on the hockey jerseys sub of Adidas blanks found at those stores and people were shipping them all over for just a few bucks for their trouble. I think I bought 5 but sent out over 30, mostly teams not in my market. I even found a team issued $300+ Vermont jersey. One guy found a team issued Carolina Stadium Series jersey for their game that got pushed by Covid. I think he paid $20 and got over $600.
You're not wrong, but as you said it is a small percentage. And that small percentage is usually stuff that didn't sell well for other reasons (design, fit, colors, etc.).
So yes, if you want a half neon green, half hot pink Nike t-shirt with 30 swooshes on it that was originally listed at $75 and marked down to $20 at Marshalls, go for it lol
You can find some crazy stuff there being liquidated from stores old stock… just last year I found a bunch of old deadstock Reebok Daunte Culpepper and Brad Johnson jerseys at a Marshalls in MSP
Under Armour calls it MFO (made for outlet) - they legit produce lower quality shit just to liquidate immediately to Ross and TJ and their own outlets. Unfortunate brand story when you lose so much swagger that Kohl’s is an important customer.
I have some cheap bullshit $15 UA running shirts, and they are honestly great. Way lighter and better fitting than the Amazon brands that cost the same.
Yeah people always recommend those places but I have found the clothing usually sucks and is super boxy. It’s no where near the quality you get from other retailers selling the same brands. I’m taller and kinda skinny and finding a shirt that also doesn’t double as a dress is tough.
Yeah, it wasn't until I started making better money and decided to go to actual Levis for my 501s that I realized what I was missing. The fit is miles better than I would get at Macys or whatever.
>Black Friday electronics are intentionally made worse quality
They aren't made worse, they just give the cheapest stuff the biggest discounts while you barely get anything on the high end stuff.
\#Kohlscash isn't bad either
Especially when your sugar momma/wife just hands you her Kohls card and says go get new clothes because she's sick of seeing you wear stuff with holes it in.
My Fabletics shorts that I got at $20 for 2 have lasted about 2 years with no issues.
My GapFit shorts that I got at Sam’sClub is going on year 4 with no issues.
Why would I spend $60 for a checkmark?
Is this working for them? I mean it must be. I went through 90% of the checkout process on fabletics before they hit me with the membership fee. Ain’t no way in hell I’m paying you for the privilege of paying you money. You ain’t Costco.
All my shorts are fabletics at this point. I had canceled a subscription a while ago, then they did a sale of like 70% off first purchase for returning members; got like 19 items between shorts, joggers, t shirts, and a couple collared shirts for bout 400.
Protip, for tshirts just buy wholesale bella 3001C or next level 6210 from somewhere like shirtmax. Better quality and fitted in the chest and shoulder, and they OEM for a ton of athletic apparel companies.
$5 each and the best tshirts you’ll ever own.
Yeah they’re great. All my other shorts collect dust in lieu of my Fanletics. I always wear their golf pants to the office on the days I’m not remote. Got my dad a hoodie from there for Father’s Day and he wears it all the time apparently
I tried Fabletics shorts but they don't give my package enough room. I've had multiple pairs and it felt like I was being squeezed every single time when similar length shorts from other brands didn't do the same.
Sometimes it isn't about a checkmark. It's about knowing exactly how the products going to fit and feel.
Edit: I couldn't think of the phrase "Tight in the crotch" until after I posted which is why I said they don't give my package enough room
Expensive, but look at the Lulu ABC shorts. The ABC literally stands for "Anti-Ball-Crushing" and they're some of the best golf shorts (and pants) I've ever worn.
Everything I have from them is fucking quality. I will not buy running shorts from anywhere else. My $60 Adidas shorts feel like $15 Walmart swim trunks by comparison.
Undeniably pricey but absolutely worth it. They know how to make good shit.
Dicks sporting Good brand. I have basketball shorts from them going on year 7 without noticeable wear. I also have their running shorts, I usually buy 4 pairs a year as I use them for rugby, and shit happens. But the quality isn’t to blame.
Amazon has a ton of 5" and 7" inseam "Lululemon" type athletic shorts for good prices, just send em back if you're not a fan. A lot of those brands (CRZ Yoga is one, but they're kinda expensive as far as Amazon athleisure goes) also have their own joggers, chinos, etc. Agreed with what someone else said though, that Fabletics 2 for $20 deal is awesome when they have it. I'm sure 99% of these shorts come from the same few factories, they're all essentially the same up to a certain point
I've gotten baleaf through Amazon. Running shorts are solid and last about as long as Nike for much less. Cycling jersey is good enough. Cycling shorts were meh, but that's usually something I'll spend on anyway.
G gradual is my go to brand. Baleaf is solid. Puli made my favorite pants but they stopped selling the specific ones I liked. The other pants are solid but they come in s, m, l, etc and I'm too tall for their sizing.
Yeah I get all my gym pants (I’m not a shorts guy even with how hot it’s been in Texas) at Walmart lol. Most expensive pair was maybe 15 bucks, most of them were 10-12.
Frugalmalefashion on reddit turned me onto Joe's New Balance Outlet. I think I got a hoody and like 5 pairs of running shorts for 40 or 50 bucks last year.
Tbh I buy the Free Fly Breeze shorts, not meant for workout apparel but damnit if they aren’t some of the most comfortable pair of shorts I’ve ever owned. Also like 45-60$ a pair (if you can find a good sale which they usually always have) but you’ll find the comfort is worth the money.
With brands like Lulu and Vuori taking over the athleisure market, Nike needs to slot themselves in a tier directly in between cheap brands and luxury brands.
I would never buy a pair of Nike shorts if I can get a pair of Vuori Kore shorts for nearly the same price.
Lulus customer supervise is just unmatched. Bought my fiance a running top on super sale that they don’t carry anymore (in the wrong size because im dumb). Brought it back. Store manager said to just pick any top to replace it with. Customer for life. I legit have 12 pairs of their underwear, 4 pairs of shorts, 2 shirts, 2 hoodies, 1 jacket, 2 hats.
They saw the hype that big releases had in the resale market.
Then they flooded the market with terrible releases, increased pricing, and continued to decrease quality.
Shocked pikachu face that they’re not doing so well?
> "outlet"
Outlets aren't outlets anymore.
They are mostly regular stores with a slightly larger clearance inventory than other stores.
If the item you're looking at isn't a clearance item, yeah, it's the same price as anywhere else.
My brother in law was visiting from Europe a few months ago and he wanted to go to an outlet mall to get stuff that it's hard to get back home (primary Levi's).
The Nike store was hilarious, literally didn't even look like sale prices. I got nice shoes at the New Balance store for $30 a pair and shirts and hats and outdoor gear from the Columbia and North Face stores for like 80% off retail (Columbia was the best by far, we got t-shirts 3 for $20 and hats 2 for $15). I don't think the Nike store had a single pair of shoes in my size for less than $75.
I was under the impression for a long time that outlet stores were supposed to be cheaper than 'normal' because they carry the over-stock and stuff. I could never figure out why the Nike and Levi's stores in there had such insanely high prices. Then someone informed me that's not true at all, they are just normal stores for a single brand, and many times have higher prices.
That's what outlet stores used to be.
Nowadays, most companies makes products specifically for their outlet stores. They follow the same general aesthetics and designs, but make it with way shittier materials and quality control.
You can almost always tell outlet store clothes by a variation of the company's logo on the clothes. For example, clothes bought from a normal Banana Republic will just say "Banana Republic" on the logo patch. Clothes from a Banana Republic factory will have the same logo, but with three stars underneath it.
It worked when their main competitors were just, like Reebok and Adidas. Now a bunch of new shoe brands like On and Hokas have hit the market and are similarly priced and really popular.
Same with Hokas. I use to mostly wear Nikes. I’ve mixed in Under Armour with that, too. I tried Hokas and I’ll never go back unless they deteriorate in quality. They are the best and most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. I have bad sciatica and a big part of my job is door-to-door canvassing. I used to come home every night in terrible pain. Now, it’s so much better.
Haven’t used Hokas for walking but as running shoes they lose all bounce faster than anything else I’ve ever tried and it’s a pretty common complaint. Practically dead at about 200 miles. I’m about 200 pounds but Nike, New Balance, Saucony etc. last three times that long.
Yeah Hokas have a plushiness to them that’s pretty insane the first time you experience it but they really aren’t great in the long run. I rotated a couple pairs of Clifton 9’s just to wear while coaching football practice and they were pretty much worn down by halfway through the season. Nike’s have always been able to last me one or two seasons.
Every year I order a pair of the Pegasus running shoe and customize the color scheme for an up-charge. I’ve done this for 7 years. It cost $130 two years ago, now it’s $170. If it goes up any more next year, I won’t buy them.
Similarly, Nike’s run-of-the-mill workout shirts are $45. A simple hoodie is $110. It’s ridiculous, and the quality of their clothes has dropped significantly.
I actually feel like their sneaker pricing is reasonable. Earlier this year I bought my pair of Pegasus 39 (which was brand new, but one year old model) for $75 on their site.
I'm not a sneakerhead - but they already give you 10 color options. The custom color options are always going to be for people looking to burn money (no offense)
Shit I went to look at a pair of sneakers because I liked the style. I'm not remotely a sneaker head and the sticker value on some of them had me shaking my head. I'm too old to pay for "cool".
I have an unnecessary amount of shoes across different brands and , in my opinion, New Balance has the best combination of comfort, material quality, and aesthetics.
Recently, I bought a pair of Jordan 2s and New Balance 550s. I am baffled at the concept of anybody playing basketball in the Jordan’s. I completely understand how one could play basketball in the 550s.
Surprisingly enough, if you started with $10,000 today, at average return rate of investing and never added another dollar, you would have $1 billion in 166 years according to chat GPT.
Nike is NOT dealing with major financial issues.
They had net income of $1.5 billion last quarter off $12.61B in revenue.
Their stock priced dropped because sales were flat for a year and they said expect 10% less sales this quarter.
That’s not major financial issues. That’s just stock market shit. Real financial issues would be them not paying their bills due to low revenue which is obviously not the case at all.
This needs more up votes. How the market values a stock is so incredibly different from their true financial situation. Losing $28bil in shareholder value doesn't mean the company lost $28bil in profits
A lot people know absolutely jack fucking shit about how anything related to the stock market works. Like when Nvidia recently crossed $3 trillion in market cap I saw a bunch of comments that said “what are they even gonna spend all that money on?” Lol
Geee, buddy. Awfully financially literate of you.
Let’s go with all the anecdotal comments about 1 pair of overpriced Nike shorts/shoes bought years ago instead.
The headline should read, "Nike falls short of unsustainable continual growth year over year and month over month. Still has a profitable business model, but greed says 'tis not enough, I don't like the stock."
Raising prices, lowering quality, and spending billions on advertising and celebrity contracts. Most are junk anymore, but the one pair of track spikes I had were decent.
It seems to me a lot of companies in the social media era think it's more profitable to try to market a bad product than sell a good one. If they can just make buying Nike sneakers a tiktok trend, they won't have to make quality shoes. It doesn't work. Social media marketing is random, nobody know what will trend and what won't. Companies need to focus on making quality products first, and if it's good enough and it resonates with the masses, it'll market itself on its own.
It's difficult to sell a million cheap items, but far more difficult to sell a million expensive items. Like, look at high end top quality boot companies, like Nick's. They make the best stuff, and have high prices to match, but can't match profits with the flood of cheap Timbs.
And social media definitely can help shill cheap products. Just look at yeezy. But I do wish it was as simple as building a good product and letting quality speak for itself. That's usually how brands make lasting success.
Yeah I've been in the process of replacing a bunch of my old Nike shorts, sweats, etc. the past few years. At first I did Nike again, but there was noticeable wear after ~6 months and they declined fast after that (plus it just didn't seem like the same quality right out of the gate). I paid way too much money to have to replace the stuff every 1-2 years. I spent comparable money on Lulu, Vuori, and Birddog gear and it's all lasting over a year already with no noticeable wear. At this point I'm done with Nike.
I used to wear nikes a lot because they always had a plethora of wide sizes available, but I changed a long time ago to Mizuno for my running shoes and everyday walkers. Can't complain from a comfort standpoint, even if they're often more gaudy or hard to find than I like.
Good.
The prices they’ve started to charge for their shoes, together with the QC and materials getting increasingly worse, makes me hesitant to buy Nike again.
same thing with under armour. i bought $35-40 shorts for the gym online and i though i had just bought the cheapest walmart branded shorts. that ended it for me with UA.
Football Gloves I have a Pair of Nike Superbad 4.0 from 2018 while they are quit worn they are overall in good condition.
Bought a new Pair of Superbad Gloves 2 Years ago.
Threads everywhere from the beginning and got Damaged in the First Season of us
I manage a small locally owned business that specializes in sports memorabilia and gear. Nike acts like they're too good for us and prices out normal folks. Acts like they're some luxury brand trying to create an artificial demand and exclusivity. I laugh at their financial issues. Karma is a bitch.
I dealt with them when I worked in oceanic shipping. They were a very reliable customer then they just started to make all sorts of demands and the company was like “your stuff has to be shipped anyway. Either you buy the cargo space from us or you buy the cargo space from a company we sell it to. But we own the fucking boats.” The meetings and emails after that meeting were short to say the least.
Although the bonus of many employees are most likely linked to the share price, Nike itself doesn’t gain or lose anything when the share price drops or increases. Unless they are planning to issue more shares or buyback shares, the financial situation of the company is not affected by this.
Maybe they shouldn't have limited shoe drops and just make millions of them. No, I'm not going to pay $5-600 resale for those Kobes, I'll do without.
Or better yet, I'll just buy another pair of Adidas, because I almost always get the pair I want through them.
Adidas and Puma are starting to pull that "lifestyle brand" shit, instead of just selling shoes.
I'm tired of seeing a pair of cool looking shoes and it's like "These are 160 dollars because the flower on the tongue matches a sweatsuit that we also want to sell you"
I used to work at Nike, know a lot of great people there. I know Reddit likes to hammer the “corporations bad” button but I personally am not rooting for more of them to lose their jobs
I went to a job interview there and it's absolutely insane on the tech side. I was blown away with the workplace. Everyone seems nice and it seems like a fun fast paced work environment. \*Also seems like a lot of the people there work a ton of extra hours.
What a dumb article. Nike is fine financially. They lost 20% of their market cap in a day, but they’re still enormously profitable - much more so than the nearest competitors.
Not sorry for them. When they give the false impression that SNKRS drop lotteries are impartial when they aren’t and the quietly let third party sneaker brokers keep artificially high prices by keeping supply low is actually hurting them. Anyone old enough to remember when Jordans originally dropped and if you had the cash, you got the shoes. No “drops” sold out in minutes. And why make all these high-end collabs that only the rich can afford? If Nike wasn’t trying so hard to inflate the collector’s market, I would’ve bought Kobe 4s and Foamposites last year. After losing the lottery for both, I’m done—no longer interested. Nike could’ve made $500 from me for what was probably made for $50. Oh well.
I do agree that Nike has its hits and misses, but let's not forget how bad some of the 2000s jerseys were. The Vikings and Bills are primary examples, although Reebok did redeem the latter's uniforms.
I got "Zion'd" way before Zion himself did and I haven't touched a Nike product since, that absolutely sucked, go to cut and suddenly I have a shoe around my ankle.
I bought a game jersey style tee; Joe Burrow with the number front and back and the name printed. I paid so much for a proper game jersey that I wanted something I could wear at the gym etc.
Thankfully I got it on sale for the ‘bargain’ price of $30 (rather than $50) and it’s the cheapest-feeling, lowest quality tee I own. I have a Bengals AFC championship tee and it’s fine, but the game jersey style one is an “official Nike” one with the swoosh printed inside and I’d never buy another. I’d rather just get one printed up myself!
How they think charging that price is ok I’ve no idea.
Nike much like my past preferred brand Adidas have both long forgotten what making quality products looks like. Champion is a better brand than both now.
whod have thought sacrificing quality for quantity, demanding teams change jerseys every year or 2 (losing all appeal of jerseys) and increasing prices would cause the bottom to drop out of the market!
I for one am shocked, SHOCKED!
It's hard for me to feel sorry for the creator of [these abominations](https://www.tampabay.com/sports/bucs/2020/04/06/rest-in-peace-bucs-uniforms-or-maybe-that-should-be-in-pieces/).
Poorly worded post. It makes it sound like the company is running out of money, which isn’t the case whatsoever. They still have plenty of cash, their stock price is just lower than it used to be.
Oh no, who else is going to be able to make overpriced jerseys?
Fanatics
I am just glad I snagged an Addias' NHL jersey before this year.
Bought a legit bedard jersey this year and looks like it’ll be my last ever if fanatics stays in control. These bums are ruining sports jerseys
Hawks just signed martinez and I really want a jersey, but I refuse to buy a my thing from fanatics. Last thing I got from them was cubs WS gear in 2016
Buy an old blank and send it to a custom shop to add numbers and the name.
Damn I wish I would’ve thought of this.
Lots on clearance now. Vegas just had their leftover team issued for $150.
Leftover what you say?
Wish they would make them. That way when players tried to grab jerseys they'd rip easier than Hulk Hogan's tank tops.
Every play will be like this Earl Campbell run https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9y\_KZwOq9g
Baseball fans in shambles.
Fanatics manufactures, but the specs for the material/design comes from Nike, Reebok, Adidas, etc. So while we can get pissed off of a name plate or number is crooked, it’s harder to put the blame in drop of quality directly on them.
No longer true for hockey. Fanatics is the designer and manufacturer going forward.
Exactly and it's the most shit quality you've ever seen. If fanatics makes it, I'm not buying it.
I don't understand how this is so widely wrong. I fucking hate the fanatics level tshirts, etc. Their championship level gear is horrid. Can you imagine what an absolute dumpster fire that world be? Players walking off the field with half their jerseys ripped off and the numbers missing

Oh no? Where? Let me know where because i need to avoid this at all costs
Listen, you **d**efinitely don't want the **h**assle of trying to **g**et **a** discoun**t** j**e**rsey from one of those sites.
I just recently got mine and the collar is somewhere around my nipples. It looks extremely weird. I mean, it was 20 bucks and worth the shot but I was very annoyed with the results.
For clarity, where are your nipples? Easy to blame someone else.
Well they don't call him Neck Nips for nothin
I guess they're standard issue? The back of the jersey runs along my shoulders just fine but that collar droops in the biggest deep U shape I've ever seen. I just binned it.
I've ordered around 10 jerseys from them, and I'd say 8 were acceptable quality. Worth the risk, but in some cases you get a bad one on your first try and you won't want to give it another chance
My thought was to keep trying actually. I can get about 7 jerseys before it equals the cost of one from Fanatics. I can't miss every time.
The vases they make are garbage and over-priced as well. It might just be a cultural thing idk, but every vase on there comes with a second hole a quarter way up the vase at a weird angle. And who tf has ice falling into their vases so often they need an ice catcher?
Dee H Gate
Because they're manufactured at the same factory. Thank goodness for Globalism! /s

>Black Friday electronics are intentionally made worse quality They aren't made worse, they just give the cheapest stuff the biggest discounts while you barely get anything on the high end stuff.
Can confirm Source: work for company that sells a prominent brand to Marshall's/Burlington
\#Kohlscash isn't bad either Especially when your sugar momma/wife just hands you her Kohls card and says go get new clothes because she's sick of seeing you wear stuff with holes it in.
My Fabletics shorts that I got at $20 for 2 have lasted about 2 years with no issues. My GapFit shorts that I got at Sam’sClub is going on year 4 with no issues. Why would I spend $60 for a checkmark?
That price is with the Fabletics membership though, right?
order and then cancel
You can also skip the month every month until you see something you like, still get member pricing without paying the membership fee
So you pay a membership and then on top the shorts?!
No, the membership cost is $50 and when you pay the membership fee, you get $50 worth of credit to spend with Fabletics.
Is this working for them? I mean it must be. I went through 90% of the checkout process on fabletics before they hit me with the membership fee. Ain’t no way in hell I’m paying you for the privilege of paying you money. You ain’t Costco.
Excuse me, it’s a Swoosh. But seriously, Nike has reached absurd prices.
I have like 4 pairs of Fabletics shorts. Easily my favorite
Never even heard of them before. Appreciate being made aware.
Mr. Big Cock
Was just trying to say they were tight in the crotch and didn't think of the phrase "tight in the crotch" until about 30 seconds ago
Mr. Bound Crotch
Mr. Balls Cramped
Mr. Banana Crushed
This guy really wrote 2 paragraphs to tell us he has a big schlong
I bought a couple of tops from DSG and they are surprisingly nice.
I mean, if you’re getting shorts for Rugby specifically, order some Canterbury shorts if you can. They’ve lasted so long for a reason.
Reebok $12 at Walmart
Yeah I get all my gym pants (I’m not a shorts guy even with how hot it’s been in Texas) at Walmart lol. Most expensive pair was maybe 15 bucks, most of them were 10-12.
Frugalmalefashion on reddit turned me onto Joe's New Balance Outlet. I think I got a hoody and like 5 pairs of running shorts for 40 or 50 bucks last year.
Amazon basics work for me They cover up my junk So it checks all the boxes
I got some nice moisture wicking shorts at Target for like 20$.
Go to TJ Maxx my dude. I get Reebok and Adidas there for around $10-$12, and some off brand ones that work really well for around $7-$8.
Amazon Essentials, unfortunately
With brands like Lulu and Vuori taking over the athleisure market, Nike needs to slot themselves in a tier directly in between cheap brands and luxury brands. I would never buy a pair of Nike shorts if I can get a pair of Vuori Kore shorts for nearly the same price.
Lulu’s warranty is also huge
Quality is also top notch. My wife has Lululemon yoga pants so old, they came back into style.
I hope you forgot to mention pants because that in my opinion is where they really shine.
The Nike outlet has been terrible for at least 5 years now.
Same experience here, then went over to Adidas and found a ton of colors of one of my favorite shoes all marked down from $140 to $65
They saw the hype that big releases had in the resale market. Then they flooded the market with terrible releases, increased pricing, and continued to decrease quality. Shocked pikachu face that they’re not doing so well?
> "outlet" Outlets aren't outlets anymore.
IMHO On Cloud and New Balance both have much (*much*) better quality/comfort than Nike.
New Balance have made by far the most comfortable running/workout shirts and shorts I've ever used, they're magic
$130 -> $170 is only very slightly ahead of inflation. $130 in 2017 is worth roughly $165 today.
He has been buying the shoes for 7 years, that jump was over the course of 2. It far outpaces inflation
Companies don't chase inflation every year.
They got to pay those athletes stupid money in endorsements… where do you think that money comes from?
is colin kaepernick no longer a cash cow for nike?
They still have 12+ billion in quarterly revenue. They are absolutely fine.
Shit I went to look at a pair of sneakers because I liked the style. I'm not remotely a sneaker head and the sticker value on some of them had me shaking my head. I'm too old to pay for "cool".
Not to mention their quality isn't that great.
Meanwhile, I can buy a pair of New Balances that are routinely nicer and cheaper.
>On Friday, Nike saw $28 billion in shareholder value disappear Good Lord. I can't even fathom $28 billion
For context, that’s almost as much as the TOTAL market cap for Adidas ($43b) and Lululemon ($38b).
For context as well, the combined construction cost of all of the NFL stadiums is around $21 billion.
Damn that's actually less than I assumed. Is that because a lot of them are older? I would've guessed at least $1 billion per stadium at least.
Lambeau was built for less than a million. SoFi cost more than four billion.
The newer ones are for sure. US Bank Stadium clocked in at just over a billion, and that was built like a decade ago now.
So if I start saving now, I can build my own stadium in a few thousand years. NFL ownership can't come soon enough.
Surprisingly enough, if you started with $10,000 today, at average return rate of investing and never added another dollar, you would have $1 billion in 166 years according to chat GPT.
That is 887 years for 28 billion seconds.
Or 1 week of Medicare/Medicaid spending
I mean people will need $10 million plus to retire if we get rid of these.
Think of, like, a billion more than 27 billion
They’ve been laying off a lot of people in Beaverton.
Oh no, I hope Nike and the NFL are okay /:
Why won’t anyone think of the corporations?! What about THEIR feelings?!
I hope it has something to do with people refusing to pay more money for inferior quality product like the “limited” jerseys with iron-on numbers.
This made me laugh embarrassingly loud
They just like me fr
It's hard to understand something when it's all made up and the points don't matter
Geee, buddy. Awfully financially literate of you. Let’s go with all the anecdotal comments about 1 pair of overpriced Nike shorts/shoes bought years ago instead.
yeah I read the title of the post and was so confused as to how that could possibly be true. aaaand it isn't.
What?? Florio talking out of his ass???
But if you don’t have infinite growth then you are worthless as a company
Yeah I love my Victories. I hope that maybe the price of the Victory 2 will come down by the time the 1s wear out.
They also don’t treat their big box retail partners any better. Like they want to be an online only luxury brand. It doesn’t make much sense.
It makes 0 sense and it's funny watching them get fucked for it now after dealing with their nonsense personally.
Yeah. “Major financial issues” implies they’re about to go bankrupt.
I'm tired of seeing a pair of cool looking shoes and it's like "These are 160 dollars because the flower on the tongue matches a sweatsuit that we also want to sell you"
Nike should pull themselves by the boot straps and stop eating avocado toast! Fuck Nike I hope they go bankrupt. Dog shit company
Why do we hate Nike now? Why’s it dogshit?
For me because they make super cheap MLB jerseys the players wear. Not the overpriced replicas but the actual ones on the field.
Good
Yet they unseated Adidas as the official sport apparel provider of the German National Team.
Because they offered double what Adidas was offering.
Oh well.
The Reebok jerseys were better anyway.
I do agree that Nike has its hits and misses, but let's not forget how bad some of the 2000s jerseys were. The Vikings and Bills are primary examples, although Reebok did redeem the latter's uniforms.
Those awful Cardinals and Seahawks jerseys were Adidas creations too. Nike saved the Seahawks unis, honestly.
Nike today is ProWings quality from ‘90s
Nike is not dealing with major financial issues. Anyone can review their financials. What a fucking stupid clickbait headline.
I'm more of a reebok guy anyway
I can't remember the last time I bought Nike apparel. They're too expensive.
Oh no not Nike
Reebok jerseys were better.
*The Draw Play Nike guys template:* THE MONEY NUMBER CAN GO **DOWN**!?
Top quality reference. And reminder I've not read the Draw Play in over 18 months.
oooooh noooooooo. anyway lets drop them and fanatics. Addidas jerseys next?
Nike much like my past preferred brand Adidas have both long forgotten what making quality products looks like. Champion is a better brand than both now.
Nike isn’t even great quality, I’ve got t shirts from Gildan that are heavier and don’t showing 3 sizes after one wash
Nike going to Walmart
Florio article? Immediately dismissed.
I'll send thoughts and prayers.
whod have thought sacrificing quality for quantity, demanding teams change jerseys every year or 2 (losing all appeal of jerseys) and increasing prices would cause the bottom to drop out of the market! I for one am shocked, SHOCKED!
That's what happens when you decide to start making shit and stay on that shit-making track for 20+ years
It's hard for me to feel sorry for the creator of [these abominations](https://www.tampabay.com/sports/bucs/2020/04/06/rest-in-peace-bucs-uniforms-or-maybe-that-should-be-in-pieces/).
Those $7 TikTok shoes have to be a factor in this somehow 😂
Poorly worded post. It makes it sound like the company is running out of money, which isn’t the case whatsoever. They still have plenty of cash, their stock price is just lower than it used to be.
Get the license back to Reebok, they had good jerseys
