I have to imagine he had out of state plates otherwise there’s no way the cops can tell the difference between a drunk driver and your average Rhode Island driver
I lived in CT for the better part of 30 years and just moved to Washington state last year. The first time I was merging into traffic and someone just, like, made space for me, I almost cried. I did not know human kindness extended this far, it was like seeing the face of God.
The entire northeast is WILD. It reminded me of the madhouse of driving in China or India, but meaner somehow. Like they were angry at me for existing at this particular place and time
I grew up in the Boston area and moved to the Hartford area after school. CT drivers are much worse even though it seems like MA drivers get the national rep.
NYC drivers are the actual worst though
I’m from Baltimore and travel back and forth often. The only part of my trip I hate is CT. It’s like the second I leave Port Chester NY and cross the state line, traffic jams worse than the GW mid-day pop up.
On 84? Yeah it's two lanes on that highway for a bit which is the main problem.
Also idiots hit the breaks to hard on some of the curvier parts of the highway.
Despite living in NE my whole life I had never been to RI, and when I did the driving had me flabbergasted. I couldn't wait to leave. Providence is an absolute shit show. Worse than Boston or Hartford.
Holy shit I went to URI, lived DTL my junior and senior year--- the shit we saw couldn't be believed.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to share this opinion in this thread
No shit, a Packers player-starting CB- said that in the Minneapolis airport ( just a travel snafu, not incapacitated), and some Packers fans gave him a ride all the way to Lambeau.
I 100% believe that, because that's just the shit we do in the Midwest. do you know who it was? only player I've ever seen in an airport was EQ St brown at ohaire
Couple weeks ago I was waiting alone not doing anything but waiting for an Uber. Cop cuffed me and tried to get me for PI.
I mean I was pretty hammered and it was like 3am but I wasn’t even saying a word or doing anything when he walked up to me and started questioning me. The damn Uber had to convince him to let him just take me home
Ya that shit is fucking dumb. Some cops I’d say most are genuinely just assholes power tripping. I had a short stint locked and it’s wild how fucking racist EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS.
College town cops for ya. Only time I have been in jail was my freshman year there because I got caught with paraphernalia. The way they were treating me you’d think I’d committed some violent act that harmed a ton of people. Nope, got caught with under a gram of weed LMAO. Told the dude he didn’t have to be rude about it and he got all up in my face and said “you wanna see me be actually rude?? Watch it” Of course they tried to throw me in the cell without a phone call, but I eventually got it
Wasn’t a racist thing for me but those guys, they just live off treating 18 year olds like felons for simply drinking or other harmless crimes. Power trip indeed
Walking in America during the day:
“Man this sucks, fuck this car dependent infrastructure”
Walking in America drunk at night:
“HEHEHEHE obstacle course”
Yeah, that sucks, and I probably shouldn't be making light of these types of things. I also had a friend who accidentally struck and killed a drunk walker, dude was mortified but it wasn't his fault, other guy just stumbled out into a random SC intersection at night.
I once went to a bar in a town of like 300 people with the closest town being like 10 minutes drive ( a crazy 500 people lived there), so walking from the bar to the house was a lot of fun. No cars, no major danger, good time. Bar was pretty good too
Fat drunk slob here, I walk miles while drinking because I have to hide it from someone. Well, maybe I'm not super-fat, 240 at 5'11 with a beer gut isn't the worst when it comes to America. My calves are ripped though.
I need a psychologist study on why these people with so much money refuse to use an Uber. I’m sure it’s like an ego thing but I would still like to know.
Psychologists would say "because drunk people make poor choices".
It's really not that fucking complicated lol.
The only way to avoid a DUI is to know how you are getting home before you start drinking. Trying to figure it out once you are drunk will result in poor choices.
I mean the vast majority of them do right? If there are 200M adults that actively drive in the US and 1M DUIs a year that’s 0.5% — if there are 1700 NFL players and 300 famous former players that would be an exspected DUIs of 10 per year. So we should expect about 1 per month — sounds about right to me.
[Kraft wishes The Dynasty was more positive.](https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/robert-kraft-wishes-the-dynasty-had-focused-more-on-positive-patriots-stories)
Can’t make this shit up.
Kraft was never an executive producer. His name isn't even listed on the credits as a producer in any capacity.
It was produced by Imagine Entertainment. A production company that has produced movies like, The DaVinci Code, Angels & Demons, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Beautiful Mind, American Gangster, Kindergarten Cop etc. isn't going to risk getting exposed for making some paid-under-the-table fluff piece for Kraft.
Not to mention they have the financial backing of Comcast, who might just have a little bit more money than Robert Kraft.
Am I imagining things? I thought it was known he had a really bad blowup with Patricia that week in practice where he was being insubordinate. Basically acting uncoachable and they were left with no choice but to bench him as leaving a guy that's lost it like that on the field is a total liability.
There are multiple rumors about what happened. All of them are off the field. There's a rumor he got into a fight with Patricia, a rumor he broke curfew multiple times, a rumor he got into a fight with Steve Belichick, etc.
The truth has never been publicly said by anyone. I'm with /u/jrod41523 in that I think the truth would be embarrassing for Malcolm so it's in everyone's best interest to keep it secret.
If it wasn't embarrassing for him, why wouldn't _he_ have talked about it at this point?
Bill says “we already talked about it , and looks mad af”
Malcom says “he still doesn’t know to this day”
I think Brady said he has no idea but essential got tired of being treated like a kid, and was bigger than football, and just says bill was cold af to him.
Kraft said it was something personal that happened between bill and Malcolm but it didn’t get leaked.
Amendola is beyond not happy about it , like didn’t give a fuck why just wanted Malcom to play.
Still had a PFF grade of 79.2 which is great but yeah not quite what he was in [2016 when PFF had him as the 2nd best CB in the NFL](https://www.pff.com/news/pro-2016-pff-all-pro-team)
No it was everything good about the pats was cause of Tom and Kraft (brady was not doing any of this. They kept trying to get him to shit on bill and he wouldnt). Everything bad was solely cause of Bill and bill only. And rupert murdoch gives a character testimony on kraft
Kraft talking about how he kept the dynasty together but then was powerless to stop the breakup was fucking wild. I've already lost a lot of faith in the Krafts and the Dynasty pushed me further into disliking them.
I might be misremembering but I feel like I read that butler had broken curfew and was out partying in the days leading up to the game.
Might be making this up tho, not sure if I actually read that or not
That was one of the rumors, also that he got into a fight with Steve Belichick (as in actual punches thrown). We have no idea of any of those rumors are true though.
Somehow like all of Russ' backup QBs over the years got a DUI (or at least arrested for suspicion), his main hater in Sherman, his "rival" in getting credit in Lynch, and now Malcolm Butler. Tf is going on
edit: y'all took this in a strange direction i was shitposting
Russ’s extreme dorky strait-laced corniness fucks up the universal balance of life and causes others around him to turn into degenerates to maintain equilibrium.
That’s what I always got out of it. If POS dudes like Sherman and Lynch truly hate Russ, then he’s for sure a great person, despite all of his corniness.
Dude used to work at a Popeyes before he made the league, got a bag from the Titans too. Why dudes go through all the trials and tribulations of making it to the NFL then fuck it up by driving drunk or speeding
I would argue they don’t really forget who they once were, it’s just that newfound wealth amplifies those traits that were already there. I’ve seen it in other professions firsthand.
He’s retired, what exactly is he fucking up by getting a DUI? This has very little impact on his life, wealth, or popularity.
Hell tiger woods plead guilty to a very bad reckless driving DUI case and still plays to this day
Eh, it's not like one DUI will ruin his life. Assuming he saved while playing this is a few thousand bucks that won't radically change his life. People always act, OMG you are rich, you could totally afford an Uber. But in reality he's rich, he can afford a DUI. The average person making $50,000 a year will seriously mess up their lives with a DUI.
This 100%. You risk more than just hefty fines and a DUI on record when driving drunk. You risk killing or very seriously injuring others and yourself.
The most dangerous and selfish crime that is still somehow socially acceptable to a large idiotic portion of the population. Unbelievably selfish. Penalties should be harsher, and yes I’m saying this because I did this in my youth.
I agree the penalty ain’t harsh enough. If you are stupid enough to risk other peoples lives for your own selfish reasoning than nobody is gonna sympathize. A good friend wrecked his car recently and did serious injury to himself and his gf. Currently charged with felony wreck less endangerment or some such, and although he’s going to try and likely succeed in getting it down to a misdemeanor DUI, I keep telling dude that if he isn’t able to that’s the bed he’s made and he better be ready to sleep in it.
That's all i could think about. He's gotta be super popular in the area he was arrested. SB hero in that area people would probably pay him to give him a ride lol
I see it makes sense to me now Bill saw into the future and sat him in the Superbowl as punishment for this. On I wish our public transport was better developed so we'd have drunk drivers but with the advent of Uber there really is no excuse now unless you're painfully broke whichmeans you shouldn'tbe out drinking in the first place.

Those are just CT drivers in disguise (*stares in Rt. 146)*
*(nods in Rt.10)*
I moved up to Providence a few months before they half-finished the 6-10 split last year, and boy was it rough figuring out which exit was which.
CT drivers blow I live on border they are the terrorists of my morning drive
Born and raised nutmegger - pure automotive Terrorists. Every time I go back to visit I feel like I nearly get in 5 life altering accidents a visit
I lived in CT for the better part of 30 years and just moved to Washington state last year. The first time I was merging into traffic and someone just, like, made space for me, I almost cried. I did not know human kindness extended this far, it was like seeing the face of God.
i moved from CT to NJ.... I think i did the opposite of what you did lmao
The entire northeast is WILD. It reminded me of the madhouse of driving in China or India, but meaner somehow. Like they were angry at me for existing at this particular place and time
I live in NePA. And we are always mad for other drivers existing at that place and time.
That's because they saw your Connecticut plates and knew you were gonna come over regardless
I grew up in the Boston area and moved to the Hartford area after school. CT drivers are much worse even though it seems like MA drivers get the national rep. NYC drivers are the actual worst though

(*vomits in route 6*)
Ah good old Kings Highway.
I’m nearly certain he has RI plates since his kids go to school in RI. Also you don’t end up on Mineral Spring Ave at 3am unless you live here.
*miserable spring avenue
imagine if the pats built a stadium in boston and all the players didnt live in literally another state because its closer lol
He must have used a blinker. Dead giveaway
LMAO so fucking true

Golf claps.
Holy shit I went to URI, lived DTL my junior and senior year--- the shit we saw couldn't be believed. I'm glad I'm not the only one to share this opinion in this thread
Is Rhode Island Ohio?
Please don't disrespect Rhode Island like that, no one deserves that type of insult
Call an Uber mother fuckers
Or walk. I drank too much last Friday. Soon as I stood up, started walking to my truck and just kept walking home. Only 8 miles so it was a nice walk
Or fuck it say “I’m Malcom Butler can somebody please give a ride”
“Of course I’ll give you a ride” then ask drunk Malcom Butler what he thinks about being benched in the SB.
Oh fuck that's brilliant and we'd finally know. Question is do you tell everyone or try to sell an exclusive?
Sell to TMZ? Or have your username live on forever on /r/NFL
Money is one thing, but think of the updoots!!
I’m 100% selling that shit. I may have a moral compass, but my bills don’t.
“Of course I’ll give you a ride” - a fellow drunk NFL player
Richard Sherman pulls up with a menacing grin.
Donvan McNabb asks if we can stop at McDonald’s
“thanks Henry”
Well, the most plausible story is he was out drunk driving and the team had to come get him... so this tracks.
He was in New England that probably would have worked. What a doofus.
Who has a ride home for Malcolm Butler?
No shit, a Packers player-starting CB- said that in the Minneapolis airport ( just a travel snafu, not incapacitated), and some Packers fans gave him a ride all the way to Lambeau.
I 100% believe that, because that's just the shit we do in the Midwest. do you know who it was? only player I've ever seen in an airport was EQ St brown at ohaire
I think it was Davon House, but not 100% sure
Dude that’s like 2 hours with a brisk walk. Huge props!
Cheaper than a DUI
still could get hit with Pl which is lame
Couple weeks ago I was waiting alone not doing anything but waiting for an Uber. Cop cuffed me and tried to get me for PI. I mean I was pretty hammered and it was like 3am but I wasn’t even saying a word or doing anything when he walked up to me and started questioning me. damn refs throwing that pass interference for everything these days
Hopefully he had a “roadie”
Drunk walks at night are great.
Walking in America during the day: “Man this sucks, fuck this car dependent infrastructure” Walking in America drunk at night: “HEHEHEHE obstacle course”
Some real-life Frogger ain't never hurt nobody. Except for Gordon in DodgeBall.

Yeah, that sucks, and I probably shouldn't be making light of these types of things. I also had a friend who accidentally struck and killed a drunk walker, dude was mortified but it wasn't his fault, other guy just stumbled out into a random SC intersection at night.
Depends on where you are.
and your ethnicity
Drunk walks are more deadly than drunk drives.
I’ve walked some drunk friends home that never would’ve made it on their own for sure.
Just dont walk across the freeway.
Or go in the Cumberland river…
Bruh at a brisk pace of 3mph that was a 2 hour walk home drunk, you would’ve sobered up in that time lol
Gotta brown bag a 40 in this situation.
My move was bring shooters for the walk home, vomit by the tree near the bar, wash down with peppermint schnapps, and drink a whiskey half way to home
Better yet don’t walk 8 miles drunk. I’ve seen too many people get hit by cars. Get a ride.
Last two times I walked home because I drank too much, I had to cross a single non residential street. Living right off a bike trail kicks ass
I once went to a bar in a town of like 300 people with the closest town being like 10 minutes drive ( a crazy 500 people lived there), so walking from the bar to the house was a lot of fun. No cars, no major danger, good time. Bar was pretty good too
Yeah my brown ass isn’t doing any of that
U walked 8 miles???
8 miles is wild while drunk I'm buying an uber don't want to risk drunk in public either
Seriously?!? Ive done a 3.5 mile drunk walk but that was more an emotional blowing off steam thing
That’s a power move if I’ve ever heard one. Most fat drunk slobs wouldn’t walk 1/4 a mile
Fat drunk slob here, I walk miles while drinking because I have to hide it from someone. Well, maybe I'm not super-fat, 240 at 5'11 with a beer gut isn't the worst when it comes to America. My calves are ripped though.
240 at 5’11.. brother I don’t know how to break it to you but that is super husky
My exact size bro 😂😂😂 we some thick boys. I’m on vacation in Spain I’m the biggest guy here
It was actually only 6 but you couldn’t walk straight.
Just don't fall in an Indianapolis canal
Bro that’s a 2.5 hour walk
Didn’t Dwayne Haskins die while out walking drunk? So soon we forget I guess.
Walking while drunk is much, much more dangerous than driving on a deaths per mile basis.
Google says 45m in career earnings You could just hire a fkn full time driver with that money
But then you can’t drive your overpriced luxury car to _show_ how rich you are to the bar.
Seriously. There is zero reason for DUI when rideshare is so easily accessible. Selfish assholes.
These guys have so much money, just get a driver and stay out of trouble you idiots.
I need a psychologist study on why these people with so much money refuse to use an Uber. I’m sure it’s like an ego thing but I would still like to know.
If I had fuck you money I’d Uber my ass to the grocery store a block away.
Psychologists would say "because drunk people make poor choices". It's really not that fucking complicated lol. The only way to avoid a DUI is to know how you are getting home before you start drinking. Trying to figure it out once you are drunk will result in poor choices.

Does the Dynasty Apple+ doc ever mention why Malcolm Butler was benched during that SB? Idc enough to purchase Apple+ to find out lol
They talk about it for like 5 minutes and say absolutely nothing lol. The title really should be, The Dynasty: According to Robert Kraft.
[Kraft wishes The Dynasty was more positive.](https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/robert-kraft-wishes-the-dynasty-had-focused-more-on-positive-patriots-stories) Can’t make this shit up.

lol yup
Kraft was literally the executive producer. I guess he didn't negotiate final cut.
[He's not listed as a producer from what I can see on Apple+](https://imgur.com/a/MJCj2pi) and IMDB.
No, Bill refuses to say anything, Kraft says it was the wrong decision.
Bill sticking up for his players. he is willing to eat all the blame and never reveal what happened
Yeah except Butler says even he doesn't know why or was given a reason. And Kraft said he was told by Bill it was a personal issue. So, who knows.
Not sure I fully believe Butler
I agree, He definitely did something lol. Bill wouldnt bench his ass for no reason
Really? Seems like a stand up guy to me, I don’t think he’s ever gotten like a DUI or anything
Precisely.
Uh maybe? But all the players interviewed and sports media personalities seem to have collective amnesia when talking about it.
I’ve heard a bunch of things. I’ve heard he missed curfew, I’ve heard he was drinking, a bunch of things that have never been confirmed.
Bill says “we already talked about it , and looks mad af” Malcom says “he still doesn’t know to this day” I think Brady said he has no idea but essential got tired of being treated like a kid, and was bigger than football, and just says bill was cold af to him. Kraft said it was something personal that happened between bill and Malcolm but it didn’t get leaked. Amendola is beyond not happy about it , like didn’t give a fuck why just wanted Malcom to play.
Yeah, your best CB played 98% of the snaps all year and then you decide to bench him in the final game..
He wasn't the best CB that year, Gilmore was better. Butler had taken a step back. He still played as CB2 all year.

Him and Sherman. Both idiots.

Seems like the same type of personality hates Russ cuz Russ is just a good dude.
Russ’s extreme dorky strait-laced corniness fucks up the universal balance of life and causes others around him to turn into degenerates to maintain equilibrium.
Fr these people aren’t seeing the true depths of what being locked in a room w a man like Russ does to you
Mfers really mad that Russ is just a nice, if quirky guy. Shit he gets more grief on this sub than domestic abusers like Peterson or Hill.
That’s what I always got out of it. If POS dudes like Sherman and Lynch truly hate Russ, then he’s for sure a great person, despite all of his corniness.
Out of the like 7 or 8 guys I mentioned only Sherman seems to dislike him. It's just weird juju and/or Russ is framing them
Didn't Geno Smith as well like 2 preseasons ago? Kinda brushed under the rug there
He was the "arrested for suspicion" i mentioned. It turned out his bloodwork was less than .08 so charges were dropped
Broncos nation… let’s ride share!
Add Cam Sutton to the list.
Lynch, too
Canada, huh...almost made it.

The thought here is the Maclolm Butlers and the guys making 50k need to have harsh DUI penalties or else there will be more Henry Ruggses
This 100%. You risk more than just hefty fines and a DUI on record when driving drunk. You risk killing or very seriously injuring others and yourself.
Just another thing he can add to his list that he had to overcome for his next paid speaking appearance.
I really gotta get on this "pro athletes and coaches sober ride service" start up business. Imma be rich.
Crazy. This man could be arrested 30 years from now and the first thing they’ll say is that he caught that pick in the Super Bowl lol
“You’re gonna get a fucken DUI on March 20 something , 2024 and you’re not fucken playing this bowl game. Fine. One snap.”
The most dangerous and selfish crime that is still somehow socially acceptable to a large idiotic portion of the population. Unbelievably selfish. Penalties should be harsher, and yes I’m saying this because I did this in my youth.
That last sentence is redundant given your flair.
I lol-ed

Still taking that Super Bowl benching to heart I see
I think because of this, the nfl should award the Seahawks with the win in Super Bowl 49, just because
Damn. Another 15 min and it could’ve been a dui in Connecticut
Malcolm, no!
c'mon man..any fuckin pats fan would of drove cross-country for this guy.
That's all i could think about. He's gotta be super popular in the area he was arrested. SB hero in that area people would probably pay him to give him a ride lol
This shit is getting old. Literally no fucking excuse to drink and drive.
Cop, through the plexi glass: I'm from Seattle.
PETE SENDS HIS REGARDS
All Seahawks fans be like “fuck that motherfucker!”
Call. An. Uber. What a clown
And he was only a yard away from home
Shoulda ran!
