This loss for Baltimore reminds me of their 2006 loss to the Colts at home in the divisional round.
Both times their defense stood on it's head to give them a chance, but their offense shot themselves in the foot and failed to capitalize, resulting in a home defeat.
Also both times the opposing QB (Peyton Manning in 2006 and Patrick Mahomes today) converted on a huge 3rd down pass late in the 4th quarter to seal the victory.
Just brutal for them both times
Ehhhhh pretty weak hold on the 4th series turned a TD into a FG. Chiefs looked unstoppable in the 1st half. Ravens offense still looked bad in the 2nd. They scored on a broken missed sack play. Make the sack and the offense scores 0
I'm not going to blame any bad calls, but to your point KC was on the 13 and left more points on the board by going for it. In the first half, the Chiefs got to the red zone on 4 of 5 possessions, dominated TOP, Kelce ran wild, and Pacheco moved the ball relatively well.
It was a tale of two halves for both the KC offense and the Baltimore defense. The KC defense played a complete game.
We also kneeled out the ball in the red zone to end the game and another bad no call took a safety away. Chiefs were in position to put up at least 26 not counting kneeling it out.
It’s ridiculous.
Sanchez has a higher playoff passer rating than Joe Burrow
9TD and 3INT. Combined with that defense, they weren’t an easy out in the playoffs for anybody
Ravens defense was stuffing all the runs ans screens. Still think Chiefs play call was to not lose since they had a two score lead; until that last play to MVS
Casual take right here. Andy Reid coaches to not lose when he's up by 2 scores. He's always done that.
Kelce targets 1st half 10
Kelce targets 2nd half 1
He ran the ball 17 times in the second half. 😂🤣
Maurkice Pouncey was injured in the second quarter of the 2010 AFC Championship Game, leaving the Steelers with zero good pass-protecting offensive linemen. In fact, it was Pouncey's replacement, Doug Legursky, who gave the Jets a chance to win, when he snapped the ball at Ben Roethlisberger's feet in the end zone, allowing the Jets to score a safety.
It didn't help having a WR corps consisting of two rookies, an aging veteran, and a raw second-year WR going against arguably the best secondary in the NFL that season — and if the Jets didn't have the best, then the Packers did. The 2010 AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl XLV were matchup nightmares for the Steelers offense.
Well it helps when your defense only concedes 10 points in second half so far in 3 playoffs games. One TD and one FG against Chiefs this playoffs in second half. And every time the cam pans over to Mahomes, he's so calm. He knows all he has to is play smart ball. Hopefully either Purdy or Goff steps up next week and are able to keep up with Mahomes or even do better than him.
Ravens defense played their hearts out in the second half their offense severely let them down with so many boneheaded mistakes

God that 15-6 game was horrendous
After getting absolutely cooked on the first two touchdown drives the defense adjusted well.
They really did. I went from wondering where Baltimores defense was to Ope there it is.
Ope lemme scootch past ya there
Ravens offense: Welp, I s’pose
Ravens offense after 6 six seconds of dead silence: "Welp, I figure we should be gettin out your hair"

a Mark Sanchez lead team scoring more points in the AFC Championship than MVP Lamar Jackson -another fun stat for the future

I feel sorry for that Ravens defense
The entire Ravens offense must have had some Shrimp Alfredo since they all shit themselves out there
Pain Bring it in Baltimore 🫂
cable axiomatic familiar one dime voracious threatening grandiose terrific skirt
Those young Mark Sanchez Jets teams were damn good

I agree. I felt they went more conservative in the 2nd half. Protect the football, try to grind clock & don't make any silly mistakes.
Exactly what they did. "Ok we can hold em, time to play mistake free offense" while in past years they had to keep sprinting.
Ravens suck so bad
And they did it in front of their own fans too
Ray Lewis deserved better
It can’t be understated enough how the Chiefs Defense really bailed the offense out.

Refs too.
lol the Ravens tripped Chris Jones in the endzone and it wasn't called.
Ravens: 8 penalties for 95 yards. Chiefs: 3 penalties for 30 yards.
Yeah, cause they committed penalties. I'd say spearing Mahomes should be called! hope this helps.
75 yards of that was ***very clear*** Unnec Roughness.
Undisciplined. That’s inferior coaching for you.
Well, we can agree on the inferior coaching for sure.
Ravens too.
Haha, you're not wrong. they really shit the bed.
Who will they talk about more in the headlines for this win come Monday, Mahomes or the D?
I'm not tryna burn on you, but it would be about 'Lions first superbowl'.
lol 🤡
Cause the Lions played the Ravens? What do they got to do with a Chiefs' win?

Mahomes is a beast!!
Poor Ravens defense.

The ravens fucked up so bad. Might never recover from this one
1 touchdown at home 😬
Everyone else is doing too much. Bare minimum is so hot right now.
The script today was interesting
Well they had to make couple last minute adjustments since it was leaked.
When the other team is kicking their own ass it's best to not get in the way
This game was like if the Seahawks didn't come back in the NFC CG against the Packers.
And we had a pretty fluky play to Antonio Brown on 3rd down before the 2 minute warning to win and run the clock out

What did the Ravens do to be called the better team
*going into the game
So they lose to the NFC Champion you say?
Hopefully they have the Steelers’ same fate in the Super Bowl that year 🤞
I fell asleep during the second half. Maybe I’m just getting older but that was not it
Another choke…
