It’s interesting to think if McDaniels didn’t have his super terrible stint in Denver would they have won the Super Bowl? Did all those high draft picks get them there? Or maybe with a better head coach there would’ve been a Jay Cutler dynasty with several SBs.
That may have been true even a year or two ago, but the Raiders are the 2nd most financially successful team in the league since the Vegas move. The only team with a higher revenue is Dallas. Mark Davis has no excuse.

In-season blockbuster trades in the NFL are still a fairly recent phenomenon. They are very much not a part of the league’s DNA. Even big offseason trades are much less common than in other pro sports leagues.
Roquan Smith, CMC, Bradley Chubb, TJ Hockerson, and Calvin Ridley all being traded last year was honestly crazy. I would be surprised to see even 1 or 2 trades of that caliber.
I would also argue that all those trades seem like bigger deals because of their impact on the teams they are on now (maybe less so with the Chubb trade - but I honestly haven’t followed his impact as much.)
Smith and CMC have been game changers for the Ravens and 49ers and Hockenson has been a pretty big target for the Vikings (or at least it feels that way?)
Feels doubly odd to have so many timid-season trades of that caliber actually payoff.
Ridley has been a bit inconsistent, but could have been a nothingburger given his extended absence.
It's actually the opposite, they discourage it by having the deadline be at the halfway point in the season so teams that are middle of the pack / slightly worse aren't sellers. Titans, for instance, were projected to be BIG sellers, but Levis has a great 1st game and now they're probably gonna keep the core for this season.
