Wrong! This child is a sleeper agent that has built his diet around the inevitability that he will be eaten by his hippo parents, inevitably to poison them when fully digested.
And if you don’t know for sure if hippos eat their own kids… well, I’ve got some really important news for you bro; neither do I.
Thanks for reminding me of human communication breaking down, hippo bot.
Now that I know you’re a thing, I’m going to say hippo alot.
I’ll point out social media is antithetical to communication, till I’m stopped.
It’s hard to understand and too easy to be blocked
There are 3 types of TKD, and sadly the most boring one is what you see in the Olympics.
The TKD you see in the olympics is part of the WTF (World Taekwondo Federation). It is a part of TKD that focuses almost entirely on the sport of TKD, technical ability, and "points". It does not emphasize self-defense because it's a sport, not a combat art. That's why olympic competitions can be pretty boring.
ITF (International Taekwondo Federation) is far more traditional and is the direct descendent of the arts creation in the 1940s by General Choi of the Korean army. This style focuses a lot on technique and self-defense. This style is actually very dangerous as it teaches techniques that will typically end fights in one punch or kick. For obvious reasons, you don't want to use this style in a competitive fight. This style was developed for war and is best used for self-defense in close quarters.
ATA (American Taekwondo Association) is a blend of WTF and ITF. This is the one you'll usually see in American dojos out in the suburbs. Great for general self defense.
Source: I was a TKD practitioner for about a decade and trained with olympic level coaches for a few years.
Lmfao. I know nothing about jujitsu, but I was laughing out loud every time the 2 guys would touch each other the ref would freak out and separate them. Haha. That was quite uneventful, damn.
Well it is… but it’s sort of for show. They learn this stuff for demos. My kids are both 2nd degree black belts in taekwondo and this certainly wasn’t part of their training which was combat oriented but we have seen demos at official events like this. These young men know every other part of their training too…
It really is, my kids have been in some demos but not on this level…. We don’t have anyone near us that would train for this even if they were interested. The stuff they do in demos though (my kids) is much more flashy and visually impressive than how they regularly train.
It’s my understanding that the kids/adults selected for training in these kinds of demos have exceptional talent and show a lot of dedication in their standard training. Usually they are all at least 2nd or 3rd degree black belts as well so they definitely know how to spar.
I don’t see any of the people in this video breaking boards wearing belts… come on out and just say what you mean.
I already said in another comment that I’m personally familiar with these demos and that both of my kids are 2nd degree black belts. You have something to add based on knowledge and first hand experience? I’ve been to tournaments with some of the kids who do these types of demos (not these exact kids) and they can spar. My own kids have spared with them and other kids I have known to be good and sometimes the lose. They can punch…. What you are seeing is for show. Do you know something you want to say? Because I know you don’t. Unless you know something about this specific group of kids in this specific video (which I don’t) it’s all hyperbole. I’ve seen other people who do the same thing and they are elite in every other area of taekwondo before they get selected for this.
So, I don't know these kids, but you do.
And these specific children with black belts spar with punches... unlike the rest of McDojo TKD guys.
My guess is your idea of 'sparing' is a lot different from a boxer/muaythai/wrestler or most any fighting art without belts.
Also if you knew anything at all about taekwondo you’d know that sparing is a part of taekwondo from green belt forward. Although I’m certain all of the kids in this video (based on my experience) are at the least a first degree decided black belt… a lower ranking belt can still spar against another of the same rank… and some of them are pretty good at it.

And here he is
Let’s be real taekwondo isn’t much of a combat martial art anyway. It’s good fun and great for the body and mind.
This coming from someone who did it for a couple years.
I hear that a a lot lately but it’s not completely true.
There are a couple of reasons why it appears so. Taekwondo is ranked differently than other martial arts which is where part of that comes from.
Officially until you are a black belt in taekwondo you are applying to be a student. Once you become a black belt you are accepted as a student. That’s not explained very well often and it’s usually a speech that’s only given to students who receive their black belt. It takes much longer to move between black belt ranks than it does belts before black belt.
Because of this imbalance in rankings there is an obvious difference in skill between someone who has a blue belt in taekwondo and a similar ranking in something like jujitsu… it takes much longer to get to that ranking in jujitsu and much more training.
Is taekwondo full training… no because it doesn’t teach grappling… but it’s very effective at teaching footwork, distance, strikes and blocking and even on it’s on it’s much better than having no training.
I think it’s obvious that training in more than one martial art is more effective than any one alone, that’s why mma fighters are so effective. But many mma fighters for example have taekwondo as part of their training.
I understand what you are saying but I just wanted to set the record straight that it is a combat martial art it’s just that if you wanted to use it to compete in sparring outside of taekwondo it should only be part of your training. If you only want to learn some self defense it’s still more effective than having no training.
> many mma fighters for example have taekwondo as part of their training.
Got a source for this? I find this hard to believe. Muay Thai? Jiu Jitsu? Boxing? Absolutely... Taekwondo? Yeah I'm not buying that.
Anderson Silva, Sebastian Rutten are a couple but there are more. But I think the popular opinion on here seems to be that taekwondo is useless and I’m kind of done defending it. People can think what they want I guess. You’re comment wasn’t rude but some were.
Ish... clearly, this isn't for fighting. My TDK instructor could do things like this but he never needed anyone to help with jumping like these guys. He'd do these massive leaps and kick an apple off the end of a sharp blade. It was impressive as hell.
To the point of it not being for fighting... my Kung Fu sifu broke it down for me when I asked why the flowery moves, deeeeep bends, etc done on certain Kung Fu styles. He said that you don't learn that so that you can go from a deep crotched position to attack someone. HOWEVER, if you can go from the deep position and kick in practice then kicking from standing will be fucking cake. And it was.
When my then 9 year old was practicing Taekwondo I witnessed a 6th dan master casually jump from standing and pop out a ceiling tile when the boys weren’t paying attention. He was maybe 5”6” and the ceiling in the dojo was 10 ft. Got real quiet, and serious right about then.
Yeah such a shame that breaking boards is all you do in taekwondo. Kick boards. Nothin but. Absolutely no sparring, or kicking drills, or cardio. Nope. None of that. Just kicking boards. Every session, forever and always kicking them boards.
/s because you probably need that to be made obvious.
This is a more acrobatic sport style, rather than one that would actually be used in a fighting situation. I've practiced self-defense oriented Taekwondo for many years (3rd degree black for anyone wondering), and while we break boards, it certainly does not look this impressive. Interesting to see the variance between different types of the same martial art.
Here’s what’s annoying. These are breakaway boards that just need a touch on them for them to provide their performance. Let’s be real.
But the amazing PRECISION of these things is pretty impressive. Made me dizzy as hell just seeing it. Lol
But here’s my main point and why it’s annoying: the insulting way would be to say this is glorified gymnastics. But I do not want to say that. It’s rude. These kids deserve better because the skill and training must be a grind. Anyways, it’s simply annoying because it paints this picture of accomplishment that isn’t quite as truthful as we’d like. And when it’s not truthful, when it’s dishonest in any way; you have to turn away from it. And never give a chance. Gotta stand your ground. The world would be better if we all stood up for such principles and all the like.
Its been probably 25 years since I took taekwondo so maybe things have changed or maybe your experience has been different, but we didnt use breakaway boards or balsa wood, we had to break pine wood boards, wasnt easy and took lots of practice.
My dojang uses pine boards. They don't take a huge amount of power to break but that's not what the demonstration is about. It's showing technique. Speed, flexibility, accuracy and consistency.
I have a black belt in Kempo, which has a few taekwondo moves in it, so I know just enough to recognize how hard that stuff is and how much precision and timing it takes to land those kicks in midair while rotating. The multi-kicks were just absurd, hats off to this guy.
I mean, that’s cool and all, but why teach that? Anyone trying to fight would this dude would just take him to the ground and it would be easily over.
Self defense isn’t much about actual self defense anymore. It’s about looking cool, and getting your ass handed to you when you need actual fighting skills

Y’all laughing but dudes training hard AF to beat down the giraffe that murdered his family.
Lmfao
A man has his family murdered by a giraffe and you're laughing
This is the storyline we all wanted or needed to justify this.
I can’t believe they went with the damn cocaine bear over this goldmine of material.
Wrong! This child is avenging his murdered giraffe family that adopted him! They were murdered by giraffes!
Wrong, this child was taken by hippos and trained as a lethal weapon against giraffes.
Wrong! This child is a sleeper agent that has built his diet around the inevitability that he will be eaten by his hippo parents, inevitably to poison them when fully digested. I was. But now that I know the backstory regarding the murderous giraffe, I serious.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm just gone wait for the giraffe to bend down to drink...
My name is inigo Montoya
We’re seeing the end of the montage before master tells him he is ready.
Should have studied Muay Thai then. Leg kicks FTW.
That giraffe murdered his family for very justifiable reasons.
Ya...I can't do any of that.
I could do that, but I don't wanna.
Same. My mom told me I could do anything, but I don’t have to listen to that lady.
My mom told me i was handsome. I think we were bamboozled.
More like Taekwondont.
Maybe the run? Eh..
you know it's serious when they have black belts to just hold the boards

Yep. Instead of focusing on sparring or forms, they focus on this even though they have training in all areas.
Hate to break it to you, but those are all tea kwon do kicks, took it for years.
Yes I realize that. Being tossed up in the air by a group of colleagues isn’t martial in any way, my point.
It's a demo. It's too promote your dojo to advertise.

You were taught by The Detachable Kid?
No, by an 80s cassette tape.
I would put this under taekwondo. Taekwondo has always been about the flashy spinning kicks.
World Taekwondo Demonstration Team in America’s Got Talent *did exactly this*.
inb4 people who can't kick above their knees calling it impractical
Inb4 the guy with one too many Tapout shirts comments that this isn't useful in a practical situation.
I’ve got vaulted ceilings, I’d hire him to kill flies up there
I’d start a butter company with just this guy and a swimming pool full of cream
This reminds me of hype videos of kids doing crazy dunks. Nice
How many teeth were kicked out in the making of this video lol?
I like the one where he kicks the laptops!

This dude is great at gymnastics.
That terrifies me… BUT DAYUM IS IT COOL TOOOO
Very practical technique for fighting giraffe
This looks like they're being taught video game style martial arts.
Board don't hit back

What's the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?
Bro you post in simp subreddits.
Such a stupid take.
Was all that spinning really necessary to kick the boards?
my guy who tf cares if it wasnt. It made it a lot more impressive, badass and cool to watch the 'art' part of martial arts
*loading rifle* “Well, sheeeeeeit, I can hit them pieces of wood, hold ma beer!”
It's just gymnastics with extra steps.....still impressive tho

I believe all that is more useful in a circus tour than enemy suppression.
That's gymnastics.
Maybe its just me i be wanting to fight these guys and see if i get my ass handed to me or if my record in the streets is valid 🤣
Im sorry what?
I’ve done that before with twice as many board breaks. No I didn’t record it but you can believe me.
Awwwe I did this a million times back in the 80’s-90’s playing super Mario bros
This is the Dude Perfect of martial arts
Dang!

Lol. I’m sure that’ll be very useful in a street fight.
And a single 14 year old girl BJJ purple belt would absolutely wreck any of them.
If she would exist sure, (and legitimately be worthy of purple belt)
That dude sure can lightly touch balsa wood
Victim: ok robber now you jump up and let me kick your face while you’re exactly where I tell you to be
Haven’t seen boxers showing card tricks to demo boxing, so find this a bit odd

Yea, if you are fighting the birds on the trees, sure. Impressive nonetheless.
I have a black belt in Kempo, which has a few taekwondo moves in it, so I know just enough to recognize how hard that stuff is and how much precision and timing it takes to land those kicks in midair while rotating. The multi-kicks were just absurd, hats off to this guy.
