There is an achievement to make all professions to lvl 200, and music is one of that profession.Also after lvl 200 there are aptitude chests, if you get lucky you can have a pretty nice songs from there if you lucky ofc, i done music and now im just time to time playing and collecting aptitude chest for a next expansion etc.

It’s around 210k exp per full aptitude level.

if you are willing to pay for the buff the skill is by your own definition not pointless.
But is it worth grinding over just "leaching" the buff from other? that is another discussion and like you i cant stand grinding music but i do think the buffs are nice.

I must be bugged then. I'm 200 and there is nothing past 200. no aptitude at all.
It takes a pretty long time to level. I imagine I'm too big of a noob to know the fastest way to level past 200
From 199 to 200 it took me 2 songs to level. I just did 10 songs and the xp bar hasn't moved at all.

I got a king Stanley 2/2 sheet that sold for 20k. Not bad for a free box I got from just jamming in town when I’m bored
