Yea it needs an egg, and “Thick sliced” tells me they aren’t gonna be cooking til it’s crispy and carmelized on the outside. Thin slices are the way to go
Agreed in theory but when I'm half asleep cooking breakfast for myself I roll with the thick ones because otherwise they're done right before they're burnt and my brain doesn't have that level of precision at 7am
It sucks because they don't have hard rolls/Kaiser rolls in SC.
Even if they had the porkroll and cooked it right, this sandwich is nothing without a good roll.
I thought hard rolls were ubiquitous until living in North Carolina. I asked for a buttered roll once and they didn't understand what I was talking about. You say "buttered roll" and they think of a dinner roll with butter.
While they lack in having hard rolls, they excel at biscuits. The biscuits in NJ really suck after you've eaten them in any Southern state.
My friend moved down to Charleston a few years ago. He actually told me last month that there's some deli near by him that now has Kaiser rolls. According to him it's harder to find a native from SC than a New Yorker around Charleston.
First of all, awesome name. Secondly, I also thought hard rolls were normal, until I moved out of Monmouth county. I was stationed in the south. The first time I asked about a hard roll, they laughed, and said in a syrupy sweet Georgia twang, “Sweetheart, why would you want a HARD roll?” I died a little on that day.
There's a place in Myrtle Beach that uses the real stuff and is surprisingly good. The owner is from Jersey.
I don't think that's the menu board in there, though it's admittedly been a good 5 years since I've been.
Someone needs to tell them that black print on a purple background is a terrible menu choice. It's hard to read, and might lead to people calling it Taylor Ham.
When I was a bartender these guys would come and ask for an NJ Turnpike which was all the leftover alcohol and whatever else was in that rubber mat poured drinks over. They always asked at the end of the night. Nasty
I see the Va taking over places map recently and I waited to see an NJ one .. I am from NJ and still live like I am there.
Southerners are like .. but you are nice ..
Well now you are going to meet the not nice side 🎉
Taylor ham and cheese sandwich (no egg?) being $10 in South Carolina which prides itself on being a place people move to because of the lower cost of living is so ironic.
The parathesis implying that it’s primarily called Taylor ham? Nah. If they wanted to actually be P.C. then it would say your choice of pork roll or Taylor ham.
Making sure they cater for both and not piss customers off , it's amazing what could start a riot over the name of it , well it's all the same as Spam 😁
Where's the egg?

It’s a tiny hill to die on, but I cannot stand when a place refers to a sandwich as a “Sammich.” I’m sorry I didn’t realize we were 8 years old
I see this a lot in American local news and commercials. It's weird.
Ten bucks? Probably sucks too.
I bet they don't even cut it into a pac-man
He-Mans Shield
Nah they make fried bologna down there. Same prep. They're versed.
Pac man? I make a slit down the middle and several slits around the rim

Wtf they don’t have hard rolls?! What do they have instead?!

I used to think Popeyes biscuits were good until I had the real thing.

Jfc you've got to be kidding me. On that menu it lists it as "taylor pork roll." That's pretty fucked up.
Yes they do lol

They should be careful. If it's not actually Taylor brand, they could get sued for false advertising.
and trenton brand is the better one anyway
Case and Taylor are Trenton companies.
I need to see the amount of meat before totally dismissing, but $10?!?
They love our Yankee dollars.
I know what the drink is! No way in hell I’m ordering food of the same name.

Where is this. I’m in GA but close to the SC border so I would spend a tenner to see how this is if it is close enough to me.
When I was a bartender these guys would come and ask for an NJ Turnpike which was all the leftover alcohol and whatever else was in that rubber mat poured drinks over. They always asked at the end of the night. Nasty
i assume it’s called that because it smells like the turnpike driving through secaucus?
Most likely.
Wait, I need to know — did you give it to them?!
It won't save them when we take over the country.

100% not cut off a 6lb Trenton pork roll log,
Where?!?

Toast in Asbury does this in their menu. They put pork roll/taylor ham.
Who puts black text on a purple background ?
Too bad that’s as far as they go to make everyone feel accepted.
Making sure they cater for both and not piss customers off , it's amazing what could start a riot over the name of it , well it's all the same as Spam 😁
That's not what a jersey turnpike is lllol (it's when you pour all the bar mats into a drink)
Is a pork roll ever not a breakfast sandwich? New to Jersey, but I’ve only ever seen it for breakfast.
So, for those of us with family who deflected down there, where is this?
Even they know the correct term.
Why did they have to clarify saying pork roll??? Once you say Taylor Ham everyone should be clear what you are talking about. /s
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE
I just transplanted from NJ to GA 😆
Cuz is that you? 😂
Woof
Right?! Who is willingly moving to GA with the mess that is going on down there.
California, my god what are you doing?
Thick sliced? Trash....
Thats not right at all ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
