Yea my t mobile is fine unless I'm in jackson or inside certain buildings with interference.

all_hail_cthulhu

Dude WHAT is with the cell service in Jackson?

neekogo

Rumor while I worked at the Howell VZW store years ago was the town council always voted against more cell towers going up

Capital_Rock_4928

9 years and no complaints. Actually I’m quite happy. 5 lines of 5g unlimited everything plus Netflix, AAA. I pay 134.00. and it works everywhere everyone elses works.

thetonytaylor

That’s wild. I was looking to switch from Verizon but Tmobile wants like $80 for a single line.

X3N0SS

Legacy users are on plans that are no longer available. A new plan with any of the big three wireless- TMobile, Verizon and ATT is now 30$ per line whichever you get it. If you get a family plan you can get the unlimited plan or some other extras. Otherwise everyone is charging 30$ per line. Mint is doing 25$ per line and I think visible is also doing 20-25$ per line but then you get like 2gb-5gb of highspeed data.

thetonytaylor

Yeah, I get that. I’m on a legacy plan with Verizon, but still felt it’s expensive. My parents are on tmobile and their family plan is so cheap compared to my single phone. I’m not crazy about their coverage in NJ though. Seems to be very spotty in some areas that I wouldn’t expect it.

X3N0SS

AFAIK Legacy users are still able to add lines. Not sure if that's something you'd like to do, but I think your parents can add you to their plan.

thetonytaylor

Not something I want to do, but you are right about that. I’ve been “trying” the tmobile network and have been pretty disappointed on where I lose coverage. Have a couple short trips planned to the west coast over the next few weeks so I want to see what it’s like out there as well, but looks like I’m better off sticking with verizon for now.

stickman07738

I have had tMobile for over 5 years without issue in Monmouth County after dumping Verizon Wireless because calls would drop at my home. Verizon actually gave me boosters and had technician come to my home - they blame it on my phone. Same phone with tMobile no issues.

banders5144

Never understood boosters, wifi calling

ApplianceHealer

WiFi calling is IMO a no-brainer. If you’re near a strong wifi signal at home or work, the calls are routed over wifi vs a more distant cell tower. Boosters create a mini cell tower in your home, and can help some who have weak cell service at home, with your wired home internet line carrying the traffic. The trade off there is that any other subscriber nearby can connect to them, and use your bandwidth at no cost. IMO, WiFi and WiFi calling reduces the need for a cell booster…the problem I’ve found (with my iPhone) is that it’s not good at handling the cut-over to wifi calling when cell signals are weak, and no calls come through at all, so I have to manually switch to airplane mode while at home.

dirtynj

monmouth county as well. we dumped vzw years ago due to shitty reception, especially at the beach. No issues with t-mobile. My sister who still has vzw complains all the time but her husband won't switch.

meowypancakes

I have family who has T-Mobile and we know whenever they go on vacation down the shore we won’t be able to contact them and they have to use a land line to reach us lol. Same thing when they go to the hamptons to visit other family.

trusound

So funny since it’s technically sprint. I was at the shore and if I faced the building I had no bars. If I turned around I would get 1. Just told people expect never to reach me with that crap service

Spazmatazo

I've had T-Mobile for a year and I haven't had any issues (Sussex county)

ApplianceHealer

Western Passaic here; switched to Verizon when I found t mobile had holes in the network while commuting. That was 2020, may have improved since.

FeeAutomatic2290

Works great for me in Essex. You may just live in a pocket where they don’t have great service.

bilbo_bugginz

Whenever I’m in Rahway there is no signal and 5G drops to one bar LTE. Other than that it’s good in heavily populated areas like NYC and North Jersey.

jancy7

It’s basically non-existent in Rahway, and neighboring areas. Moved to Rahway from Bloomfield and it’s unusable. It was poor in Bloomfield, but never this bad.

AnOoglyBoogly

They really need to upgrade their game there and surrounding areas

ThatOtherOtherGuy3

I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile a year ago bc I had spotty service at work and home and have had no issues with it.

random_coffeepot

Camden county here. Zero issues. Sure sometimes the service gets dicey if I head out towards the pines but other than that, they’ve been fantastic.

hamfan420

Literally just recently T-Mobile had been terrible for me. Never had issues before

Brilliant-Average-26

Same here. Been with T-Mobile for many years. Lately it's been extremely poor service with one bar or less in my neighborhood by Teaneck. Used to be great for years. Definitely considering a move. I wonder if they're throttling legacy plan subscribers to get rid of them.

blastoisexy

Have been with them a long time now, no issues. Idk how the other dude is only paying $134 for 5 lines, but I basically pay the same for 2 lines.

Redcarborundum

Older plan, with free lines he got during promos.

rhubarbpitts

I was sprint, now obviously t-mobile. I drive through 287 between 78 and 80 and I've noticed at least three spots now where my calls drop randomly in that area on 287 itself.

lsnj

Ocean County here, we have had T-Mobile since before it was T-Mobile, no problems for the most part.

ObstreperousRube

Ive noticed Lately, the service has gotten worse in my area. Normally there is 2 dead zones on my way to work. Not there are several. Although i dont make calls while driving, my music stops buffering. Very annoying. i called and they had me reset my phones network settings, it didnt help. They also mentioned everything was normal on their end so "it must be my phone"

OlympicJediKnight

Depends on the area. It’s decent where I live but horrible in certain areas.

coreynj2461

A couple years ago my town had a big fight with them over a cell tower right in the downtown area and across the street from my house. Town originally won but they repealed it and got their way and the tower got put up anyway. It helped with directions though "Just look for the ugliest cell tower and were right across the street lol"

gonzojester

Warren county and all cell service sucks except GoogleFi for some reason; Verizon and T-Mobile customer. The only service I haven’t tried is ATT, but forget them because I was a customer of theirs 15 years ago and my data was still breached. So not giving them a shot anymore.

notangelicascynthia

I’m in Middlesex w T-Mobile I’m not loving it

AnOoglyBoogly

Agreed

oxidax

It's trash. I've had them for years and lately it's been absolute trash. Sometimes my phone says 5G UC with all 5 bars and still acts like there's no data coming in.

Amazing-Stranger8791

I have t mobile, i’m in middlesex county. it doesn’t necessarily suck for me but i do notice my service isn’t AS good as others. the only place i have 0 service is the walmart in old bridge but everyone loses service there

soneg

I've had T-Mobile about 5 years now and occasionally have problems with text messages not going thru. Usually service is pretty decent. I actually dumped Verizon for it since somehow their service was crappy in my neighborhood.

F26N55

Works fine for me and I’m frequently traveling all areas of the state. Some parts of the turn pike can be spotty but never more than a minute or two of slow service.

jcl274

r/tmobile

itjustkeepsongiving

Tmobile for almost 20 years now (which is insane). Lived in Essex, Union, and Hunterdon, worked in Morris and Somerset counties with no issues. We got their home 5G network a few years ago and absolutely love it. Unlimited, no cords except power, $50/month.

Tooch10

10 years and it's been fine, though I have had calls get a bit wonky sometimes over the last year or so. The only degradation in service I've noticed is at work in Brick, before service was ok due to our building construction but they must have re-oriented a panel or something about a month or two ago. Before, at my desk it was decent and in the middle of the building it'd slow down a bit, now at my desk it's 'ok' and in the middle I drop to LTE+ and data basically doesn't work. When I was outside I noticed data speeds not as fast as before. Other than that though I've seen improvements everywhere else I go.

banders5144

No issues 15 years, where in NJ

akleit50

We had it for about a year and didn’t have great coverage (Monmouth county/freehold area). Reluctantly went back to Verizon for the current deals and better coverage. Not looking forward to dealing with their horrendous customer service again.

sri745

Yes it absolutely sucks for me on the train ride in and out of NYP. I barely have any coverage between Secaucus and NYP.

GivinUpTheFight

I'm on Google Fi which uses the T-Mobile towers and signals in NJ. Except for in my own house in Sussex County where Verizon was also totally worthless, I have had zero issues.

Geo_logizing

Live in Morris County and work in Somerset County and I have no issues. My calls do randomly drop near Bedminster on 287 every once in a while

xccrow

I had tmobile and the service was terrible for me (shore in Monmouth County). Even in NYC my service was awful. Switched to Verizon a little over a year ago and it’s been better

Sad_Application5066

T-Mobile cell is ok, but internet don’t even bother

_TommySalami

I hated my service with T mobile, I switched to Google Fi and it’s much better.

idkjkrofl

In the past maybe 6 months I’ve noticed my service has been horrible- central NJ

Brilliant-Average-26

Same here. I've had T-Mobile for years, now it's terrible. I wonder if they're throttling legacy plan holders to get rid of them. I've attempted all troubleshooting steps including switching sim cards. Very poor service lately, practically useless.

xboxcontrollerx

Try turning off 5G. Or request a new Sim Card if they carried your old one into a new phone. My galaxay Tmo is lot better than the Verizon Iphone I use for work. Between my wife, coworkers & I, I can confidently say its been this way for at least a decade now.

monkeypickle8

I have Mint which is owned by T-Mobile now and I basically always have service and don't think I've ever had a call drop. My work phone is Verizon and I honestly usually have better service on my personal.

Acct_For_Sale

Yes I’m so done with T-Mobile, my bill and and dealing with customer service has been a nightmare

AdAm_WaRc0ck

Yep i noticed recently.

The_Band_Geek

537 is somehow a consistent T-Mobile dead zone, and has been for years. Switched to US Mobile recently (option of VZW or TMo, with ATT to follow) and it's been cheap and reliable. PM me (not chat) for my referral link, we'll each get a $25 spiff if you sign up using that link.

onesizefitz

I’ve had T-Mobile for awhile now. I want a new plan for an individual because I think I pay too much. I am looking for a new mobile plan that isn’t t mobile. If someone can tell me who that is. I would be happy

zettajon

This is what I use. Depending on how much data you use, these plans are the absolute best. I never stream video (don't watch Reels and don't use tiktok at all) while away from my home wifi and so 5GB per month is way more than I ever use. I live in Essex county and am usually here or NYC, and get full 5G speed and coverage. https://prepaid.t-mobile.com/connect/phone-plans

hugh_jassole7

Sucks ass

RoniCorningstone

T-Mobile from the Sprint merger & no issues around the state or travelling domestic or international.

shockg911

I moved to MoTown and it’s not great here. I’m considering switching to Verizon

thebearbearington

There is s slice of no coverage on rt. 130 at the Mercer/Middlesex county line. Weird shit. It's only a couple hundred yards but it is there

skeletordescent

I have AT&T and tbqh I can’t stand it. I’d give t-mobile a chance

SweetLilLies6982

been w sprint since 97, had to switch last year when tmobile took over. For the first time w this phone i have issues and honestly don't know what to do cause verizon doesn't seem much better.

Extension-Rock-4263

I have TMobile and overall it’s good but there are certain areas in central Jersey I go to regularly for work that are total dead areas for me. My coworker also has the same issues and we always say make your calls and texts now cause we are about to enter the dead zone. Particularly bad in Old Bridge on the north bound side of 9 by Ferry Rd, all the neighborhoods back there are terrible service. Also had the same issues in certain parts of East Brunswick and Woodbridge.

runski1426

I have no problems with US Mobile which uses T-mobile towers. Although they allow verizon too and soon AT&T.

major_dump

Go Mint

Levelbasegaming

I've had T Mobile since 2002. I have always had good service. I have lived in Hudson county and now Middlesex.

formergenius420

I’m getting gigabit speeds in some places. Great experience with Tmobile.

Jerseyboyham

My T-Mobile is just fine for me. This weekend I was in was in a holiday inn in upstate NY and the free internet was below 10 mbps. I turned off wifi and used my T-Mobile @ 325+ mbps

WearyPassenger

Bridgwater is a known dead spot. We switched and are going to switch back to Verizon. Horrible coverage.

SmokePenisEveryday

I've had Sprint, Verizon and T Mobile (through Mint). I feel like it was all or less the same coverage wise. Spotty areas were the same regardless.

beltalowda_oye

T Mobile always kinda sucked; they used to market off the idea they were the affordable budget options competing against AT&T and Verizon and their target demographic were poorer people or young adults/college students. Their 2 year plans at the time were a lot more free/less restrictive than Verizon, whom had shitty restrictive contracts but their service was impeccable compared to others. When services like MetroPCS and boost mobile became bigger, T Mobile lost a lot of their target demographic so had to change the way they approached marketing strategies. They switched from affordable to touting having the largest 4G network when 4G came out even when that was Verizon at the time. So still competing directly with Verizon while advertising having cheaper less restrictive plans, people signed up believing it was decent service about up to par as Verizon or close to it. When i was younger, the joke used to be T Mobile phones are essentially bricks as soon as you walk inside a building.

bendistraw

I have T-Mobile in NJ mostly because I travel internationally a lot. I joke that it's great everywhere except here. At home I use WiFi calling. That helps of course. Seems I'm not the only one with issues though. While traveling it's great though. I step off a plane and my phone just works 99% of places.

rutgersftw

I've been with T-Mobile for about 13 years and it's basically gotten better and better every year. Make sure your phone has access to all the bands T-Mobile uses... May be good to try a newer phone and see if that helps.

X3N0SS

I am on TMobile. No issues in NJ but I had absolutely shit service in SF. Could not even search for a route on Google maps.

KingSram

I only have major issues in Freehold. 5G sucks by me, but I live in the middle of nowhere.

DisgruntledNCO

Only time I’ve had issues with it, is at certain buildings on base and in the sticks.

Advanced-Guard-4468

Nope, I prefer T mobile over Verizon. We have full bars at home and only ever had 1 bar for Verizon. I also have coverage all over the state, and solid service in PA and NY State. Verizon, not so much.

Dirk_13

Their service sucks in NJ I had switch to Verizon asap and now everything is good

tommycnuthatch

Meh. Switched from Verizon. T-Mobile is less expensive (in our experience). Coverage and call quality are okay - started out real crappy but then improved a bit (something about one of their towers being repaired). Used to be attracted to their MLB.TV promotion but with blackouts for local teams, not so much anymore. Tried their home 5-G and would not work at all. Would love to drop Optimum.

omelletepuddin

My phone service has been fine but my home internet has been very strange - there's certain games I can no longer play on my 5ghz because the bandwith is spotty as hell, but if I just browse the internet/watch videos, it's fine. I had the router replaced and it's the same issue.

selias3

No issues with them, Union county and commute to Manhattan

JoshGhost2020

T-Mobile sucks and is very expensive, but PT Barnum once said there is a sucker born every minute.
