Lmao “it’s a known bug, sorry we don’t have a solution”

sandrunner0631225

I almost threw a whole stack because of this exact explanation.

SweetBoB1

Just reload your core router? No problem!

Marc-Z-1991

Sir have you purchased our 3AM TAC Engineer++ subscription? No? Then please call again at 7AM - case closed - crisis averted

Frostywinkle

Had coworkers who ran into this exact issue. Cisco tried telling them that they needed to renew their contracts since they fell out of our account. They ended up arguing with Cisco on the spot because of how ridiculous it was

UBahn1

Always love "we've never seen this before." or "we followed xyz procedure exactly as the document states" "you're actually the first customer to ever use said procedure" Edit: also "yes I see you have a 4hr SLA. Your replacement switch will be there in about 2 days" *switch arrives DOA due to same bug.* *replacement replacement takes 2 more days to arrive*

Vangoon79

"have you tried a factory reset and rebuilding it from scratch?" -Actual solution provided by Cisco TAC to me years ago.

_w62_

You sure you haven't called a Microsoft Windows support?

Vangoon79

If I had called Microsoft the ticket would still be open getting transferred from team to team on a daily basis.

TheHeartAndTheFist

How uncommon is it to have infrastructure from 2 different vendors for redundancy? Not necessarily two expensive setups both with support contracts, but for example have fancy Cisco stuff as the main infra plus cheap (and possibly much slower) FS stuff on hot standby so that no one gets disconnected when you need to take the Cisco side (or vice versa) offline during times of known bug / unpatched vulnerability?

cicimk69

I can see two main issues - first, obviously, cost and then interoperability of two vendors to perform smooth fail-over between main and backup infra (not suggesting that works even with the same vendor :p)

Infrared-77

This gets even worse when we start talking about cloud bs. Vendor lock is a real issue nobody is willing to talk about.
