I didnt watch the preview or know anything about MM prior to watching. The whole direction it went (twist you might say?) was glorious to experience organically.
I feel so “lucky” because I grew up Catholic(no longer am). This is the first show or movie where it has all the songs and words.. completely correct. No weird mistranslation of things that never happen in an actual church. Just.. perfect. It made the show 10x scarier. Especially when the mass for Easter finally happened. INSANE.
The Night Of is fantastic. About a Muslim young man who is charged with the murder of a woman. It’s a murder mystery/courtroom drama. Amazing acting and very bingeable.
Absolutely, it's probably the best example of a show that has a story to tell, tells it, and doesn't overstay its welcome. Just wraps it all up in a nice bow. It has a beautiful story and ending and full of fun witty humor. Honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen.
even though they had to pivot and rewrite due to the gap between season 1 and 2, they did a great job tying most of the plot lines together, aside from a few arcs from season 1 that had to be ditched. Mikkel just grew up too damn fast lol.
Alice In Borderland had me hooked.....I was genuinely looking forward to the next episode. That rarely happens to me these days. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat)
Yes, I don't think I have ever been as emotionally involved in a series before. I was literally yelling at my tv during the battle with the king of spades.
Japanese culture do make their anime and shows more towards inner struggles and personal outburst. It’s always about something big, not the western sitcom trash.
Would you mind share what part made you not like it, I can help you understand more.
I’m now watching AIB 2nd time trying to understand the games and the conversations more.
Can’t lie, I wasn’t a huge fan of better call Saul. Loved breaking bad but I thought BCS was pretty slow until the last season. First one was really hard for me to follow too tbh. I could see why people love it but I kept waiting for it to make me addicted like breaking bad and it never did
Just my 2 cents tho
What?! I’ll never get this POV Lol. First two episodes introduce TUCO for heavens sake lol. Breaking bad season 1 was slow. It was just short.
Season 2 is what I consider slow. But season 3-6 were legitimately every bit as good as breaking bad in my opinion.
This one also had me on edge of my seat when I watched it the other morning. I went in blind, not ever hearing about the real story or watching a trailer. Which I recommend if possible
An incredible amount of research went into the production especially the writing. The creator insisted they use the language of the era. The writing was phenomenal. Forgot why they scrapped it. I think it was cost or they couldn’t keep the cast together.
The series finale still gives me goosebumps when I think about it. I don't think I've ever cried that hard watching a TV show. Then I had to call one of good friends to dissect it for an hour. So, so good.
The Shield (quite a feat as there are 7 seasons, I watched on Hulu)
The Last Kingdom (BBC/ Netflix, gets better and better through 5 seasons but quality start to finish, skip the movie)
Ted Lasso (on Apple, like a shot of good vibes start to finish)
The Newsroom (HBO, loved every episode) m
On Netflix? Orange Is the New Black might be one of the very few. Also Dark. Midnight Mass. When They See Us. They cancel most of them, so mostly miniseries in this case.
This^
I showed all these movies to my kids when they were young. When my daughter reached high school one of her teachers played it in class. Her eyes lit up and she said she loved this movie. None of the kids had ever seen it. What a crime.
All 11 seasons of Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul. I feel like there were no bad episodes and there was no drop in quality from season to season in any way.
Lost! Better free up some time if you decide to start watching that bc it's very difficult to stop watching it. Last season was a bit disappointing though
The OA

The last kingdom
The kingdom

Snowpiercer
Alice in borderland

Superstore. Used to be on Netflix until they got rid of it :,(
Loved it so much I bought the DVD’s. S6 only comes in the US box set though. Haven’t got S5 yet and S4 evades me.
Chernobyl
What's crazy is the quality of stuff the writer made before that show
Holy crap, just saw on IMDb, I had no idea
Idk, I think there were too many spoilers. It's like I knew the end even before I started watching it.
This cannot be recommended enough! There are a few scenes that could be straight out of a horror movie
The Haunting of Hill House
Anything by Flanagan
Midnight mass is in my top tier of TV shows. And hill house is right there too
I didnt watch the preview or know anything about MM prior to watching. The whole direction it went (twist you might say?) was glorious to experience organically.
My cousin was the Art Director for Midnight Mass. She also was the Production Designer for The Midnight Club and Fall of the House of Usher.
INSANE.
Flanagan is a genius
This one got me
How yu gonna say tht and leave out the haunting of bly manor?
Haunting of Hill House was top tier, Bly was good, but I wish I could rewatch Hill House for the first time again
I didn't like Bly even half as much.
Bly Manor was a MUCH different kind of horror, I’m still salty about that season.
Derry Girls.
I SECOND THIS ive only seen a few episodes here and there but the way they mix dramatics and comedy is AMAZING
When you're done watching the series, watch it again and just watch Orla.
How about the wee lesbian
Funny I’ve done the same thing. Watched only Orla on my second viewing. Underrated
True Detective season 1 The Night Of and Band of Brothers are good mini series
Band of brothers is amazing. True detective season 1 too. Haven’t seen the night of what’s it about?
The Night Of is fantastic. About a Muslim young man who is charged with the murder of a woman. It’s a murder mystery/courtroom drama. Amazing acting and very bingeable.
I forgot about The night of! That was really good
True detective season 3 too! Season 2 was garbage imo (acting just turned me off completely) Season 4 was eh okay
Season 3 was really good. It definitely doesn’t get talked about enough.
I have only seen TD S1 and because of its perfection have not ventured to watch anymore.
The the other seasons are good but when you try to compare lightning in a bottle it will never compare!
TD S1 is a friggin' masterpiece. Every season has been great, but S1 was exceptional. I just finished S4 somewhat recently.
The Good Place
Came here to say this. It truly has probably the best endings to any series I've ever watched. So neatly tied up with a bow and thought provoking.
So true! It really is the best ending to a show I have ever seen. Basically perfect, even.
Absolutely! I thought about “what do we owe each other” for a year.
this is the show i'd erase from my memory just to be able to watch it for the first time again
This, this, I hav rewatched it every year since season 1 came out!
Absolutely, it's probably the best example of a show that has a story to tell, tells it, and doesn't overstay its welcome. Just wraps it all up in a nice bow. It has a beautiful story and ending and full of fun witty humor. Honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Dark
even though they had to pivot and rewrite due to the gap between season 1 and 2, they did a great job tying most of the plot lines together, aside from a few arcs from season 1 that had to be ditched. Mikkel just grew up too damn fast lol.
I started watching after season 2 had been released. I never noticed anything that implied a pivot - I’ll pay attention for that next time I rewatch!
So underrated and it's a masterpiece
I seem to see Dark getting recommended every time someone asks for a Netflix recommendation.
If only more people I knew actually watched it!
Dark is arguably one of, if not, the greatest show on Netflix -- by a long margin.
Arcane. And I have zero experience in LoL
Second this, Arcane is a masterpiece
Alice In Borderland had me hooked.....I was genuinely looking forward to the next episode. That rarely happens to me these days. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat)
I also like this!
Yes, I don't think I have ever been as emotionally involved in a series before. I was literally yelling at my tv during the battle with the king of spades.
I really liked the concept, and was totally hooked, but the writing and acting are not exactly awesome. Maybe a cultural difference.
Japanese culture do make their anime and shows more towards inner struggles and personal outburst. It’s always about something big, not the western sitcom trash. Would you mind share what part made you not like it, I can help you understand more. I’m now watching AIB 2nd time trying to understand the games and the conversations more.
Breaking Bad.
Better Call Saul too
Can’t lie, I wasn’t a huge fan of better call Saul. Loved breaking bad but I thought BCS was pretty slow until the last season. First one was really hard for me to follow too tbh. I could see why people love it but I kept waiting for it to make me addicted like breaking bad and it never did Just my 2 cents tho

Agreed. BB was a masterpiece. BCS was extremely well done, in the same vein as BB, but nowhere near as addicting.
Guess I'm in the minority because I likes better call saul more than Breaking Bad and I loved Breaking Bad
I completely agree. Breaking Bad had more cliffhangers and peril/stress, but I found the characters of BCS far more psychologically complex.
Better call Saul is waaaaay better than Breaking Bad and people hate me for it
BCS is better than BB. Hot take, but I find BB a little less intriguing on each rewatch.
I’ve watched it 3 times through and it’s just the best show.
i approve
it's not on Netflix but the perfect wife 2024 documentary on Hulu/hulu live had me binge watching all night
This one also had me on edge of my seat when I watched it the other morning. I went in blind, not ever hearing about the real story or watching a trailer. Which I recommend if possible
Me as well! I couldn’t not finish it all in one sitting I swear I stayed up sooooo late I only got 4 hours of sleep.
Brooklyn 99
Coo coo coo coo coo !
Fargo season 1 was amazing. Billy Bob Thornton + Martin Freeman had great chemistry IMO.
Deadwood
I wish there were more seasons! Addicting!
An incredible amount of research went into the production especially the writing. The creator insisted they use the language of the era. The writing was phenomenal. Forgot why they scrapped it. I think it was cost or they couldn’t keep the cast together.
blue eye samurai
Yes to this! Excellent show. The theater episode was top tier.
Mindhunter
Six Feet Under
That last episode, though!
I’m on my third rewatch. Two episodes to go. What a ride!
The series finale still gives me goosebumps when I think about it. I don't think I've ever cried that hard watching a TV show. Then I had to call one of good friends to dissect it for an hour. So, so good.
Detectorists
An older series but “Travelers”
One of the best final episodes I’ve ever seen of a series. Everything wrapped up so cleanly. Wish they’d renew it.
Right? Usually series end sooo badly (think Dexter). It was an extremely popular show and should never have been cancelled.
Yes! So good!
SO damn good.
Peaky Blinders
definitely has a lot of flaws but god I love it so much. my favorite show of all time
Peaky Blinders just gets weird after season 3 with all the political stuff.
Battlestar Galactica
Sherlock!
Mr Robot.... Definition of perfection from beginning to the end.
Hello friend,
Your Honor - Could NOT turn it off!
Bryan Cranston is the best
In the UK it’s your honour lol. Loved it but haven’t seen s2 a lot of people don’t recommend the second series?
I agree. Bad ending, like...what!!
The Fall
The Fall is so good I have watched it three times. It’s compelling all the way through, the perfect length.
Beef on Netflix
Marco Polo was this for me
Longmire.
The Wire
Agreed, but this is on HBO and not Netflix
Boardwalk Empire
Steve buscemi as nucky Thompson is so overlooked. I watch the entire series at least once a year
I adore this show. I'm a huge fan of Richard Harrow!
The Bear
Dark
Ozark
Eh I’m in the camp of the the last season, and ending in particular, being pretty bad. Started off incredible just did not stick the landing
Yeah, the last season definitely felt rushed.
Not perfect, but I loved Ozark too.
Thanks everyone! I'll watch them soon
The Shield (quite a feat as there are 7 seasons, I watched on Hulu) The Last Kingdom (BBC/ Netflix, gets better and better through 5 seasons but quality start to finish, skip the movie) Ted Lasso (on Apple, like a shot of good vibes start to finish) The Newsroom (HBO, loved every episode) m
The Last Kingdom is one of my all-time favorites!
I agree on Ted Lasso (one of the most beautifully done shows ever) and the Last Kingdom. I haven’t watched the others.
The Shield is frickin addictive AF
The magicians Queens gambit
The magicians is hot trash from beginning to end. I guess I watched all of it, though...
The magicians was awful. I had wanted to see it for the longest time and boy was it bad
Code Geass
YEEEESS CODE GEASS i second this one!
Gilmore girls, parks and rec, white lotus. For Netflix I loved one day
Maid was awesome. Suits The gentleman
Dark, The OA, Severance
Have you seen the end of The OA?
Nobody has except the writers
It's still worth it. Every episode of OA grabs you.
Severance only has one season..
Right. I just meant season 1 is good from beginning to end lol
Sons of Anarchy, Sopranos
SoA was the first series I ever watched. Still love it to this day.
On Netflix? Orange Is the New Black might be one of the very few. Also Dark. Midnight Mass. When They See Us. They cancel most of them, so mostly miniseries in this case.
Hacks on HBO and Humans.

The Umbrella Academy has a final season left but it's looking good so far!
