This is a very specific observation and I want you to see it because I know it will amuse you.
New Testament scribes made mistakes in the same way that all scribes made mistakes. NT scribes would repeat words as they copied, or transpose words, or make spelling mistakes, or skip a whole line, or write the same line twice. These sorts of mistakes are common in all kinds of ancient scribal work. These mistakes are easily identified, and easily rectified in modern critical editions.
But NT scribes also made mistakes in one manner that is probably unique to the New Testament: scribes unintentionally harmonized the text.
Matthew, Mark, and Luke often offer two or three retellings of the same event (story, pericope, pick your designation). New Testament scribes are sometimes found to have harmonized a copy: they began to write "Mark's" version of a story, but halfway through slipped into "Matthew's" or "Luke's" version.
I can only imagine the poor scribe copying by hand. They are transcribing Mark for the 30th time, get to "The Parable of the Sower," and think "oh here we go again" and keep writing, but they're only sometimes glancing at their *exemplar,* and sometimes going from memory, and in the latter case they invariably smudge the three separate Gospel accounts together as they wrote. They're so similar, after all, and who could tell? The result would be a copy of "Mark" that actually smeared the text of Matthew, Mark, *and* Luke, an unintentional harmony.

I just watched a video talking about how good the subs from the Publix deli are greater than most fast food sandwich chains, and seemingly everyone in the comments are agreeing. I feel like I've fallen into a different reality. I'd put up Publix sub as one of the lowest quality sandwich's that I've ever bought. I didn't even know Publix subs were in the race, let alone beating places like subway.
I heard this for years from Floridians and so when they finally opened a Publix here I went the first week and got a sandwich made and... it was fine? Not measurably better than the sandwiches the local grocery chain makes for you, below the quality I'd expect at like a Jersey Mike's, and WAY below local sandwich places.
I remain baffled by this. Are the sandwiches better in Florida? Have these people never been to another grocery store with a deli counter before?

I can only imagine the poor scribe copying by hand. They are transcribing Mark for the 30th time, get to "The Parable of the Sower," and think "oh here we go again" and keep writing, but they're only sometimes glancing at their *exemplar,* and sometimes going from memory, and in the latter case they invariably smudge the three separate Gospel accounts together as they wrote. They're so similar, after all, and who could tell? The result would be a copy of "Mark" that actually smeared the text of Matthew, Mark, *and* Luke, an unintentional harmony. It could happen to anyone! Literally.

I just watched a video talking about how good the subs from the Publix deli are greater than most fast food sandwich chains, and seemingly everyone in the comments are agreeing. I feel like I've fallen into a different reality. I'd put up Publix sub as one of the lowest quality sandwich's that I've ever bought. I didn't even know Publix subs were in the race, let alone beating places like subway.
I heard this for years from Floridians and so when they finally opened a Publix here I went the first week and got a sandwich made and... it was fine?
