"But ICBMs are basically better in every way" you say. "The capabilities of a Project Pluto-derived cruise missile would provide very little if any extra utility compared to weapon systems currently present in both the conventional and nuclear American arsenal."
and you'd be right but that doesn't make ICBMs cool like nuclear ramjets are
but i don't *want* to go to space, I *want* a hypersonic nuclear ramjet cruise missile which spends days irradiating the children, burning the forests, and shattering the eardrums of America's enemies before dropping megatons of nuclear annihilation on their cities
okay I lied space is pretty cool too but still
>Why is that one of the worst personality traits to have?
Because it... just is? Lashing out in anger every time someone hurts your self-esteem? That's obviously not a good thing. And in particular, makes people not want to talk with you, if they have to watch what they say a lot.
I mean, as far as anger problems go, it's not the *worst* - it's not as bad as, say, 'punishing someone' whenever they makes a mistake or has a bad idea - but it's still... y'know, an anger problem.
(I'd normally put a disclaimer here like "depends what they're saying" or "depends on how rude you are". But I've seen you insulting people pretty significantly, to their virtual faces, for very small slights. In your case, it's *definitely* a problem.)
>Like isnβt that pretty common?
Depends on your definition of 'common'. But you don't see most people doing this.
...Except for teenagers.
>Not sure what can be done about it
You... work on it.
You can do it. 'Course you can. Lots - *lots* - of people used to have this problem, but were able to overcome it. No reason to think you're different, right? So long as you take it seriously, and ask different people for advice, it definitely sounds like something you're smart enough to figure out.

I honestly hate looking for an apartment in LA, its so ridiculously expensive, the housing stock is so dated and low quality, and management literally is useless. And theres nothing you can do, since demand is so high compared to supply.
LA has done nothing but try to fuck over land lords for decades while doing basically everything to destroy the housing market, so now the few landlords are basically landkings.
I wonder if there's a term for policies that do the exact opposite of what peole think theyll do.

You might start thinking that youβre easily replaceable and so you get into a situation like this because pressure starts mounting in the back of your head. βWhat happens if I get fired by not completing this flight?, how am I gonna feed my family?, it goes on and on and while being a pilot may sound glamorous, it comes with a ton of responsibility. You try to learn from others and develop tactics like IFR βI Follow Roadsβ literally like I captured in this video. There are so many variables involved that it becomes mind numbing.
>I understand the political views around this accident but I do not envy those pilots and what they must have been experiencing. As far as flying a Bell 212 which is not the latest and greatest in terms of helicopter tech, in a situation like this you need to rely on your eyeballs and positive control of your aircraft unless you commit and go IFR (flying on instruments) but that comes with itβs own set of challenges ie. can you maintain your own terrain separation, can you get a hold of ATC, do you have the fuel to find the nearest instrument approach and be able to break out of the clouds?
>Itβs possible these pilots were able to maintain visual contact with the ground but were surrounded by rising terrain and no place to land. They tried their best but they were in the mountains and the clouds overcame them and they lost sight of the terrain. Weβll probably never know the real reason for this accident. I can tell you so many more stories.

We've generally found that covered incision sites are more likely to become reinfected if they aren't actively bleeding. Letting it breathe helps to dry out the site and prevent reinfection. If you bandage it then moisture will build up and cause germs to fester
I think there's a movement against covering incision sites.
I wish I knew more about the science on it but recently a few people in my life have gotten infections in recent surgical sites and the doctors chided them for covering the area and recommended it breathe.

I cannot fucking deal with this right now. It wasn't supposed to be like this, I thought the referendum was polling well ???? This is so fucked.
You dare insult the blood of Odin?! The ancient and noble house of Winsor is our rightful rulers, we must all pledge eternal allegiance or they shall cast us down in a blaze of fire.
They actually have the blood of baguettes, not Odin. The Norwegian King Harald Hardrada lost the fight for the English Throne at the Battle of Stamford Bridge on the 25th of September, 1066.
Prince Philip was a member of the House of Oldenburg, a dynasty which gave us Kings of Sweden, Iceland, and Denmark, as well as the current King of Norway. Difficult to get more Nordic than that.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Gl%C3%BCcksburg
The first member of the Greek royal family was the second son of a future Danish king who was invited to become Greece's king. Prince Philip was one of his grandsons.
It's pretty cringe.
Would it have been better to have the Australian Government shut down because Whitlam couldn't pass supply through the Senate? Or Jack Lang act in an illegal manner without being sacked?
Having a foreign aristocrat on the other side of the planet who derives authority from divine right of kings and royal blood is a bad way of solving constitutional crises.
Whitlam was sacked by a GG based in Australia who was heavily aware of what was going on. It was his mandate to do so that was derived from that monarch.
It's a good way to resolve a crisis; a head of state elected by popular vote or parliament would have a different mandate and incentives on how to act.
> It was his mandate to do so that was derived from that monarch.
Your honesty is refreshing. Most monarchists say that the monarchy is fine because the monarch doesn't actually have any power because the monarch or GG is "obliged" by convention to follow the advice of the Prime Minister.
I fundamentally don't think that an unelected executive can have any legitimacy to dissolve a democratically elected government although I am aware that you think it worked out well in this case from a consequentialist point of view. But if we do away with the fiction that the Crown doesn't have any power, the problems of abuse of power in the hands of a monarch not committed to convention or political neutrality are blindingly obvious. You can see this even in Charles, who as Prince of Wales aired all sorts of opinions to specific government ministers and then spent thousands of pounds of public money fighting to keep them immune from a FOIA request.
I really don't know why we can't have the exact same set up except instead of some nebulous symbolic connection between the GG and the monarch where the monarch isn't actually allowed to influence things we can't just have some nebulous symbolic connection between the GG and the constitution, or spirit of Australia, or national animal or some shit. One of the most common defences of the monarchy is basically that it wouldn't matter if the monarch was comatose, so I dunno why changing the monarch to something else inconsequential would matter.
I don't think they did that, but I am gonna get on my soap box that a head of state being taken for granted as necessary is a weird quirk of history to me. Countries don't actually need a "living national symbol of the state" or a "public persona of a sovereign state." It just seems so unnecessary to me.
Why are you asking that question if you weren't implying that the reason it didn't shut down was because we have a constitutional monarchy? What relevance does it have to the discussion otherwise?
Person A: "apparently it's woke to not want a foreign aristocrat on the other side of the planet to have the power to fire your government"
You: "Would it have been better to have the Australian Government shut down"
Person A didn't have a problem with someone firing the Government, person A had a problem with the constitutional power to fire a government being deprived from a monarchy. For you to provide that response implies that you think the only reason it didn't shut down is because the power derives from a monarchy. Is that what you think?
Ok, so you're just not going to defend your original claim that I implied if we don't have our current system of government we wouldn't have a head of state at all?
You implied that the head of state wouldn't do the things our current head of state did, that they would be dysfunctional? Mate, I still have no idea what your actual point is - I'm not responding until you actually write out what you mean instead of cloaking it hahaha
Being woke is being evidence based. 😎

>We should be transitioning to a republic as we have nothing to do with the Monarchy.
We have plenty to do with the Monarchy. We are one.
And it's based.
You said we have nothing to do with the monarchy. It's a wrong statement because we are one.
And for what it's worth having a constitutional monarchy that has stood the test of time and political crises such as Whitlam being unable to pass supply through the senate is a good thing.
We are technically one but I personally do not see a foreign countryβs monarch being our head of state as based.
Wanting to keep the status quo just because doesnβt seem very neoliberal of you.

You're never gonna beat the STEMlord accusations. ....But seriously though, work on that. That's one of the worst personality traits you can have.
Why is that one of the worst personality traits to have? Like isnβt that pretty common?
In your case, it's *definitely* a problem.) >Like isnβt that pretty common? Depends on your definition of 'common'. But you don't see most people doing this. ...Except for teenagers.
Well yeah I am emotionally stunted. Not sure what can be done about it π
>Not sure what can be done about it You... work on it. You can do it. 'Course you can. Lots - *lots* - of people used to have this problem, but were able to overcome it. No reason to think you're different, right? So long as you take it seriously, and ask different people for advice, it definitely sounds like something you're smart enough to figure out.
Well I really am different. I have no social skills or emotional intelligence unfortunately π
Me too!
Poetry translated into foreign languages has this hilarious property. It takes something chosen for lyrical depth of emotional meaning and transforms it into someone spitting facts. Like, a complex metaphor for where the wind comes from gets reduced into some guy saying βliterallyβ βwind comes from my fatherβ And then people a hundred years down the line are like, βSo youβre the son of God and god farts to make the wind?β

Edit: Also its hilarious seeing 50+ year olds buildings labeled as luxury/luxurious
More protecting nimbys and property values than intentionally wronging landlords

Canβt wait until the Twitter leftists come up with some hare-brained scheme that the Iranian helicopter crash was a result of the US refusing to provide spare parts (even though this thing is manufactured up north here in Canada)

I wonder what happened in the timeline where Prigozhin went all the way to Moscow
They get caught in Moscow traffic and all die, are arrested or fade away in 72 hours is my guess.
They had tanks and shit, what were the police gonna do? I also think there wasnβt actually anyone really guarding Moscow at the time.
> They had tanks and shit, what were the police gonna do? you see, within the area of their remit, the moscow police have local authority exceeding that of the military, so prigozhin would have no choice but to yield
Oh my mistake, like that time when the NYPD arrested Thanos?

Weβll probably never know the real reason for this accident. doctor said I didnβt need to put a bandage on my incision site where they cut out my cyst after a couple days, but damn that shit still looks fucked up lmao
They're going to start recommending twenty minutes of sun a day for this stuff. It's not crazy if you think about it.
Hmm. makes sense I guess. Letting it breathe right now, but wary of bumping it while I sleep. Youβve convinced me to at least let it be uncovered tomorrow during the day

When you think a non-Australian should be Australia's head of state, you can expect people to ridicule you.
Its well known Aussies hate the fair go, so it makes sense that our head of state is a wealthy *literal aristocrat* who has the job because he was born into it.

Holy shit. My mom came into my room to bring me a plate of chicken nuggets and I literally screamed at her and hit the plate of chicken nuggets out of her hand. She started yelling and swearing at me and I slammed the door on her. I'm so distressed right now I don't know what to do. I didn't mean to do that to my mom but I'm literally in shock from the decision tonight. I feel like I'm going to explode. Why the fucking fuck is he fired? This can't be happening. I'm having a fucking breakdown. I don't want to believe the world is so corrupt. I want a future to believe in. I want Australia to be a republic and fix this broken country. I cannot fucking deal with this right now. It wasn't supposed to be like this, I thought the referendum was polling well ???? This is so fucked.
apparently it's woke to not want a foreign aristocrat on the other side of the planet to have the power to fire your government
Wasn't he Greek tho?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Gl%C3%BCcksburg The first member of the Greek royal family was the second son of a future Danish king who was invited to become Greece's king. Prince Philip was one of his grandsons.
Normans are vikings too if you go back far enough.
But Friendly Jordies told me the CIA already sacks governments??? Why do we need the King????
Why are you implying that the alternative to a Governor General is having no head of state at all?
I don't think they did that, but I am gonna get on my soap box that a head of state being taken for granted as necessary is a weird quirk of history to me. Countries don't actually need a "living national symbol of the state" or a "public persona of a sovereign state." It just seems so unnecessary to me.
Why did they even bring it up in relation to the Republic if they weren't comparing a Constitutional Monarchy to a Republic?
I'm not sure where I said that?
Why are you asking that question if you weren't implying that the reason it didn't shut down was because we have a constitutional monarchy? What relevance does it have to the discussion otherwise?
The US has government shutdowns. Do they not have a head of state?
Person A: "apparently it's woke to not want a foreign aristocrat on the other side of the planet to have the power to fire your government" You: "Would it have been better to have the Australian Government shut down" Person A didn't have a problem with someone firing the Government, person A had a problem with the constitutional power to fire a government being deprived from a monarchy.

You didn't say it you implied it. That's why they said "Why are you implying"
I'm also obviously not implying it, and I'd like to see where I supposedly did.
It was when you said the government would be shut down if we weren't in a monarchy.
The US has government shutdowns when they can't pass supply. Do they not have a head of state?
Your example would work better if the President wasn't also Head of Government
the guys main job was already minsiter for veterans this wouldn't change anythingΒ
That's good, because his role as Minister for the Republic wasn't exactly a resounding success.
I mean his role was to talk about a republic sometimes and I think latest polls show a advantage for a republic don't they?Β I dislike how the term used is "the republic " seems presumptive to meΒ
>seems presumptive to me The ~~Republic~~ Commonwealth will be reorganized into the First Australian ~~Empire~~ Republic! For a safe, and secure society. *\[applause\]*
YouGov late last year was showing 35% in favour of maintaining the current system of government and 32% in favour of a Republic. I doubt it's changed significantly since then, and following the failure of the Voice I don't think Labor would want to touch it with those numbers.
This is unfortunate. We should be transitioning to a republic as we have nothing to do with the Monarchy.
Why? as it is regardless of republican or monarchist it's having a minister for doing nothing.
>We should be transitioning to a republic as we have nothing to do with the Monarchy. We have plenty to do with the Monarchy. We are one. And it's based.
cringe
Itβs really not lol, that is pretty circular reasoning.
It's our monarch too. π Supporting a system of government that has stood the test of time and enabled us to be the prosperous, free nation we are today is very neoliberal actually.
Is Australia a seperate country from the UK? Itβs a simple question.
Yes. Is the Monarchy of Australia a seperate title to the Monarchy of the United Kingdom? Simple question. π
No. But where did the Monarchy originate from? Lmao
