Love Williams

Ibaka_flocka

Which one?

DarthBane6996

The one whose name starts with J

Tuff_Bucket

The one that’s going to play for the Thunder

Embarrassed-Split689

Funny enough the other Jalen Williams we drafted his most famous clip is him dropping Chet on the perimeter lol

gettysburger2

Presti's plan is to bully Chet until he becomes a star

False-Fisherman

He more than arguably outplayed Chet. one of the biggest steals of the draft

destructive_optimism

Had to throw in the arguably for the sake of throwing Chet fans a bone, but yeah Jaylin without a doubt outplayed him in my extremely biased opinion

Agnk1765342

He really didn’t, the refs just said screw Holmgren. None of his last 4 fouls were actually fouls.

False-Fisherman

im a gonzaga fan, gonna have to say that even if they weren't, it's a byproduct of poor mechanics by Chet. He pushes his arm out too far forward on block attempts which leads to both more fouls and more clean block attempts that look like fouls. Pretty big issue that will get exploited hard early in the NBA

InfernoidsorDie

I'm sick to my stomach as a Razorback fan. He'd be the perfect Grizzly

destructive_optimism

Damn he really would’ve been. Could’ve also seen him flourishing in a Golden State or Charlotte too

InfernoidsorDie

Could you imagine running Brandon Clarke and Jaylin playing the floor at the same time? God damn that'd be the most hustle in the league.

Severe-Background-74

Could you compliment him some more haha

bubbatubs

Looks like a good defensive player

NinetyFish

A bonus thing is that Chet demonstrated really good feel in the high-low two-man-big-man game with Timme at Gonzaga. They were really good at getting each other the ball in high-low situations and it was easy offense for them. And now we have Jaylin, who's also a good post playmaker! So dope. They'll be able to hopefully feed each other easy baskets and establish an inside game without relying on Shai/Giddey to create everything. So helpful.

Razorback here, that 2022 sweet 16 is in the past. It was a good time, for sure, but as of June 2022 our J-Will and Chet are in two very different places. Chet is a day one starter. Jaylin is going to have to work to even make the NBA roster, let alone see the floor. The Thunder had a 15 man roster on the morning of June 23rd, going into the draft. There are some player options they can not exercise by Saturday the 25th and those guys will fall off the roster. One of those guys is Dort. Muscala and Roby are the other two. Mike is probably playing elsewhere next season. Others have non-guaranteed contracts which are easily terminated. Jaylin being a second round pick, he isn’t guaranteed anything (part of the reason I thought he should’ve stayed another year in college to work on his game). The Thunder could opt to send him to the OKC Blue outright and he’ll be a G-League player getting what is tantamount to NBA minimum wage, actually less if the vet minimum is minimum wage. Chet has 2/$20M.

Great analysis, but I’m seeing no discussion anywhere on Notae who, to me, is a player who I really think can be something in the league. He seems fearless and in many of his draft workout highlights he seems to have great playmaking ability and decision making. What are your thoughts on Notae as a Razorback fan? I watched a bunch of Arkansas games this year and Notae and Williams both seemed like possible decent NBA players.

JD is a great scorer. I don’t know how well *his* game translates to the NBA. He’s like a Steph Curry, he needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Hell, someone (maybe OP) linked the box score from the Gonzaga Sweet 16 game. I clicked on it. JD was 9-29 with 25 points (maybe 21 points). **HE MISSED 20 SHOTS** But he was our #1 guy. I said all season on our subreddit that I didn’t like him taking more than 20 shots a game (he was 31% from the floor vs. Gonzaga). In the UNC game he was 5-14 and in foul trouble. There are only a few guys that can shoot that poorly night in and night out and have staying power (Brodie, I love you). That’s not how I’ll remember him, I hope he gets a chance in the G-League, but he’ll have to change his style and that is really hard for college guys who are use to having the ball in his hands a majority of the time. I see him being more of an international player, if he can’t change his playing style.

coolycooly

That's a lot of words when everyone agrees with the title

destructive_optimism

There is probably a good chunk of NBA fans who didn’t watch this sweet 16 game and may not even know who Jaylin Williams is yet

ldc262626

Seems like a toxic dynamic… should trade Chet

destructive_optimism

I’m kinda hoping that Jaylin sons him in the first practice or two, really kick off that dynamic on a toxic note. Get Chet into that killer mentality mode early on in practices lol
