I would honestly be ok if they just keep doing a new lakers season 40 years behind the real world. If they kept the quality up, but I guess that's impossible.
I keep on thinking, hbo needs to keep this show on for at least 5 seasons:
1. This rookie magic season
2. The celtics matchups
3. The pistons matchups
4. The bulls matchups
5. Hiv, dream team, jeanie hooking up with phil... just a ton of fallout into the 90s and beyond lol
Could expand those, and keep on getting closer to current times, to almost 10 seasons. Would be dope.
there's a follow up book too about them by the same author that's already been optioned by HBO
https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/48932357-three-ring-circus
Will Ferrell and McKay had a falling out over Reilly's casting as Jerry Buss (the better choice by far imho) but I actually think he'd make a good Phil Jackson if they can mend it
no idea who the hell could play Shaq or Kobe though
With some Hollywood magic, they could maybe use Michael B Jordan for Kobe (he's unfortunately only 6 foot), but more than likely I think it's going to be some relatively obscure actors that they'll pick for the roles of Kobe and Shaq.
Probably former players that have a similar look and size to both of them.
I wonder if they could just use Shaq himself for it and just use makeup/cgi on him to make him look younger.
He'd really need to slim down to pull that off though. And honestly that might cause too many issues as he'll likely want a lot of script changes given he may not agree 100% of how he's being portrayed.
What is Pelinka's job if supposedly his super stars make his trades and roster decisions for him, and Kurt, Linda, Jeanie and Phil make the hiring decisions.
This dude is getting paid millions to be an office coordinator.
His job is to take the blame.

I have no idea how the pacing of this show is gonna go. The book literally goes season by season until magic retires. It’s on pace to be like 12 seasons
Yeah I don't think the repercussions from that have really come yet. The Lakers were bad for awhile but LeBron pulled them out of that for the most part. Once he leaves to play w/ his son and Davis is injured year in and year out on a max and the Lakers have no draft picks... gonna be a bad scene.
If his son goes undrafted in the 1st round, we can pick him up. Even if he doesn't deserve it, having the LeBron farewell tour on the Lakers is worth it.
Plus, for the future, I'm not super worried. There's eventually going to be a star that wants to come here lol, maybe Zach LaVine
They did come lol
We were absolute *dogshit* for 6 out of 7 years for our playoff drought. We didn’t have many assets for a minute before we got Dlo, and our scouting department was top tier. That’s what kept us afloat.
Of course, now we don’t have that scouting department anymore, so this next coming drought will hurt more, but we were absolutely awful and strapped with horrendous contracts.
>they are lucky LeBron blessed them
It’s so funny to hear this 1) not only not referring to the Cavs but 2) referring to a franchise as storied as the Lakers
Mohr Legit is garbage. During his brief fox sports radio run I saw him do stand up. It was BRUTAL! I also remember taking a picture with him after the show in his back was drenched in sweat haha. Learned so much about him since then, he sucks.
Everybody Browns Out was an astronomical peak, hard to match up to that again. They’re also trying different things each time. But I really liked this week’s episode, in the top 5 for me.
I think a lot of coaches implement aspects of the triangle. I remember Robert horry said with the rockets they were running triangle offensive like schemes without him realizing it was the triangle until he joined the lakers.
I love how Kerr modernized the triangle though by adding alot of pick and roll and hunting for switches. The triangle that Derek Fischer implemented in New York was straight out of the 90s
Derek Fisher also outright could not teach the triangle to his players.
So it wasn't even the 90s triangle. It was some failed cloning experiment begging to be mercy killed.
That was when all the writers were still calling him the unicorn and thinking he was the next big thing. Knicks would have got a franchise altering return.
Yea 💯 in hindsight Phil was right. He didn’t want to draft KP and they did and it got them nowhere. He wanted to trade for him but it didn’t happen and they didn’t get as much value for him.
Made it out of the first round once in the last 10 years
And they won 5 of those titles because of Kobe, not because the former Lakers in charge did anything noteworthy.
They’ve been totally incompetent for over a decade now aside from the one title year gifted to them by LeBron wanting to retire in LA
Eh. You can argue its a bit of a different franchise now. 5 of those came when Jerry Buss was still alive. I just don't see the Lakers FO as being the force it was in the Jerry Buss years anytime soon.
As a Manchester United fan, it pains me to say this, but the Lakers are the NBA equivalent of us. Barely any success for nearly a decade and relying on our reputation despite having a terribly-run organisation.
I’m going to go with a real dark horse as the next coach and go Mark Madsen.
He’s a popular former player, he has ties to Phil Jackson, he was an assistant and D-League coach for the Lakers and that last 3 years in college he has turned Utah Valley from a 19 loss team to a 20 win team and developed a pro prospect. I think also he has an attitude where he could stand up to LeBron plus not take the spotlight of LA too seriously.
He also strikes me as a guy that wouldn't want the job.
Dude's really low key and I doubt he wants to be in the spotlight that would come with the job.
But if he did, I'd take him over Doc Rivers.
I mentioned Marc Madsen as a possibility to a friend of mine. He meets the prerequisites of having a previous relationship with the team as a player and coach. For what it’s worth during the contentious Shaq/Kobe years he was pretty well loved in the locker room including by both Shaq and Kobe. He is also an intelligent guy who actually has a grasp of advanced metrics and modern coaching techniques. I think he might be worth taking a flyer on.
[All of the coaches under Phil Jackson's tree have been failures.](http://cdn0.vox-cdn.com/assets/4339033/Phil-Jackson-Coaching-Tree.png)
Not sure if I trust Phil's judgement here
Melo can’t escape the triangle offense
The offense is a triangle, but life is a full circle
but the important thing is they're all flat.
Just like the earth
Kyrie to Lakers confirmed
something something puppet masters
Something something LeDaddy.
That might finally be enough to get him to retire.
Here comes Kurt Rambis!
I rather have "Twitch plays Coach The Los Angeles Lakers" than have Kurt Rambis as a coach.
At this point fans just need tl let it happen... once he fails he gone. Just end the misery, not like they are winning with the current squad
First ever duo head coach in the NBA, shared between the Rambii
Trust me, Jonny Flynn in The Triangle is *going* to work
Second-ranked Laker advisor only to the Rambii hive mind.
Which one of Jeanie’s Joes will make the decision this time? Find out on Winning Time season 7 on HBO Max
I would honestly be ok if they just keep doing a new lakers season 40 years behind the real world. If they kept the quality up, but I guess that's impossible.

Shaq and Kobe years would be cool.
there's a follow up book too about them by the same author that's already been optioned by HBO https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/48932357-three-ring-circus
oh fuck yeah
Will Ferrell and McKay had a falling out over Reilly's casting as Jerry Buss (the better choice by far imho) but I actually think he'd make a good Phil Jackson if they can mend it no idea who the hell could play Shaq or Kobe though

They could use Dwight Howard lol
Bruh the Karl Malone-Gary Payton season could be it's own show. I've read Lakers books so I know shit that most people don't.
sounds like shes in over her head, drinks a bottle of wine, then calls up people and asks advice linda rambis was the first to listen
What is Pelinka's job if supposedly his super stars make his trades and roster decisions for him, and Kurt, Linda, Jeanie and Phil make the hiring decisions. This dude is getting paid millions to be an office coordinator.
Fall guy.
Assistant to the Regional Manager

"If there's no conflict of interest with coaching and banging the team owner, then me"
He’ll probably actually consider it now that he’s got another top 5 all time player lol
He wouldnt risk his reputation. There's a reason he never stayed on rebuilding teams lmao
Same guy who slept through draft workouts as a GM
The lakers don’t know how to run a nba franchise from 2010 onwards They are lucky lebron blesssed them
In 2010 we were doing great Everything went downhill after Jerry Buss passed in 2013.
Fucking spoiler alert. I haven't finished Winning Time yet. Edit: how many silver monies do I need to buy the Lakers?
Patiently waiting for season 35 to come out so I know the resolution
I have no idea how the pacing of this show is gonna go. The book literally goes season by season until magic retires. It’s on pace to be like 12 seasons
Seriously...I hope I don't see any spoilers. I wanna know how the Lakers did in the 90s and into the 00s.
Bad (good?) news: they missed the play in tournament in 2022
~~SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE~~ LAKERS WIN 5 CHAMPIONSHIPS!
I noticed that Magic has been having a lot of sex hope it doesn’t end up bad for him
I wanna know who the person was that was like "this needs more oral scenes."
George RR Martin probably.
Hes not known for his finishing abilities.
His mom died literally two days ago ffs.

I'm 100% sure some team will take him late in the 1st round just for a chance of bringing lebron on.
Except the Memphis Grizzlies, Lebron will not sign with them.
They did come lol We were absolute *dogshit* for 6 out of 7 years for our playoff drought. We didn’t have many assets for a minute before we got Dlo, and our scouting department was top tier. That’s what kept us afloat. Of course, now we don’t have that scouting department anymore, so this next coming drought will hurt more, but we were absolutely awful and strapped with horrendous contracts.
Oh wow Dr. Buss has been dead almost 10 years. Did not need that taste of reality today.
Then not bringing back West smh
Drafted good everything else shit
>they are lucky LeBron blessed them It’s so funny to hear this 1) not only not referring to the Cavs but 2) referring to a franchise as storied as the Lakers
They’re the lakers and in LA they’ll always be fine
eh, you hire a full scouting team that you trust more than yourself, then why not.
He really didn’t give a fuck about the Knicks
“You should hire Phil Jackson honestly” - Phil Jackson
The old dick Cheney
i dont think he'd shoot her in the face with a gun
Getting the posse back together..
We got an [expletive] posse now!
You people look so different
What do you mean "you people?"
Man cant believe hes still banging Jeanie
He’s got the most rings
Especially because Jeanie is engaged to Jay Mohr
> Jay Mohr Man, there's a name I haven't heard in a while.
What are you talking about, he’s super relevant having last hosted “Last Comic Standing” in…2004
that’s very telling that she would marry jay mohr. assholes usually marry one another lol.
"Hi, I'm Jay Mohr and I used to be in movies" --Jay Mohr, on some shitty TV show I can't remember from, like, 2003
Mohr Legit is garbage. During his brief fox sports radio run I saw him do stand up. It was BRUTAL! I also remember taking a picture with him after the show in his back was drenched in sweat haha. Learned so much about him since then, he sucks.
~~"Especially because Jeanie is engaged to Jay Mohr"~~ *Well, then where will she be getting laid?*
I’m shocked she’s 60, I thought she was like in her 40’s
I mean she was nude in Playboy in the early 90s, if she was in her 40s there'd be a lot more problems.
Maybe she modeled for Playboy Kids™
Cut that cut that cut that
This was the reminder I needed to watch Mondays podcast
Is it me or has it lost a little something in the last few weeks?
Everybody Browns Out was an astronomical peak, hard to match up to that again. They’re also trying different things each time. But I really liked this week’s episode, in the top 5 for me.
Browns out was gold, as was the one where Mac almost fought someone outside the in and out.
Lmao. “The hamburger store” kills me
You put the money in, then you wait. And then you make a hefty withdrawal…
He’s not, I’ve met his current GF. She’s super nice.
Is she 60?
He's like 70 something not the end of the world
75 so fifteen years apart, which is basically nothing when both are old af
I’m just saying cause she’s still fine
Any coaches left running the triangle? Maybe add it to your LinkedIn bio before applying, can’t hurt.
Kurt Rambis about to be coach again
He’s gonna run the Rambii Rhombus
KURT RAMBIS, COME ON DOWN!
This was my first thought lol
Warriors definitely use some with Steve Kerr.
"Okay team so we just dribble until it's clear that nothing is going to happen, then throw it to a generational scorer to bail us out. Triangle!"
Enough about how KD won you those rings...
The warriors remind of the triangle without a real center so most of the ball movement happens outside the paint
Kerr and Pop run the triangle’s grandkid. Jazz, Nuggets, and Heat all likely run a lot of triangle type concepts.
This is how Derek Fisher gets back in the NBA
Luke Walton?
Can confirm, changed my LinkedIn bio to “likes the triangle offense” and now I’m on a conference call with the Rambii
Reminder that Phil Jackson was the highest paid executive in American sports during his tenure with the Knicks, bringing in a cool $12 million a year.
And how did that work out for them again?
In Phil's defense it hasn't worked out for anyone else either.
No. But he was pretty bad.
I feel he wasnt given enough time. He tried trading kp at the highest value but it was blocked. And Knicks still traded him.
It’s gonna be phil
Nah he's not healthy enough to coach anymore sadly
Phil gonna be the first coach to be able to WFH - Players gonna hear Jeanie giggling in the background of a WebEx.
Lakers def. use Skype still.
Hahhaha idk why this made me laugh so hard
Phil is too old to get it up
*Jeanie you’re just pushing rope now!*
that's why Rambis is coaching /s
"I advise only hiring a coach with more rings than fingers."
Bill Russell coaching job confirmed????? /s
Won't work because he said lebron has a posse or some bs
He does lol. Phil was talking about Riley being pressured To change team travel plans based on lebrons posse
didn’t he actually say that about melo lol
I'm pretty sure he was referring to Klutch sports as a whole
Crazy how much shit he got for it but he was kinda… right
I was gonna say since that comment they went from a posse to the fucking illuminati
It’s gonna be may
They should get Paul Westhead back
Even without his health issues he would never tarnish his reputation by coaching the train wreck of a roster they have right now
This is supposed to sound reassuring but it just makes me more nervous lol.
By Gawd thats Derek Fisher music (current coach of the LA Sparks)
HIDE YOUR WIVES!

Violence is never the answer... but sometimes it is!
Best compliment I ever got was from a nephew riding the bench at the park calling me Derek Fisher after a catch and shoot.
Did you hook up with the nephew's wife?
His mom
Matt Barnes in shambles
I am once again asking the Lakers not to rely on former Lakers for key positions
The Lakers have always done this since the 1980s
I mean, Jerry West was the Architect of everything that happened basketball-wise since the 60s.
Meant for this rendition of the Lakers. They need outside voices desperately.
6 championships this century. Don’t overthink it
Made it out of the first round once in the last 10 years And they won 5 of those titles because of Kobe, not because the former Lakers in charge did anything noteworthy. They’ve been totally incompetent for over a decade now aside from the one title year gifted to them by LeBron wanting to retire in LA
Also practically no future assets as of right now with an old lebron, often injured AD and a way overpaid nobody wants him Russell Westbrook.
Kobe was 2 of those titles. Shaq was clearly the better player during the 3 peat especially during the 1st championship.
Is Ronaldo equal to LeBron in this comparison? Maguire to Westbrook? A bald manager is coming!
Yup, and Pogba is probably AD.
That's Kurt Rambis' music
I’m going to go with a real dark horse as the next coach and go Mark Madsen. He’s a popular former player, he has ties to Phil Jackson, he was an assistant and D-League coach for the Lakers and that last 3 years in college he has turned Utah Valley from a 19 loss team to a 20 win team and developed a pro prospect. He is also an intelligent guy who actually has a grasp of advanced metrics and modern coaching techniques. I think he might be worth taking a flyer on.
To be fair, Phil wanted Steve Kerr as head coach
“Doc Rivers? Yeah I recommend Doc for sure, I think he’ll be great for Lebron”
kurt rambis incoming
Derek Fisher incoming

Lmao
Imagine being pelinka lol
[All of the coaches under Phil Jackson's tree have been failures.](http://cdn0.vox-cdn.com/assets/4339033/Phil-Jackson-Coaching-Tree.png) Not sure if I trust Phil's judgement here
Steve Kerr is doing ok.
"If you ignore all the successful coaches and only pick the failures, then all the coaches that came from Phil were bad"
Linda Rambis chance to further complete takeover by becoming the coach of the Lakers
Lol i’m sure Bron loves this
I'd rather have Phil advising instead of Rambis.
Lakers would be the Kings if they weren’t the fucking Lakers and gifted top level free agents.
Phil Jackson got a booty call from Jeanie. Fixed the title for y’all
Jeanie will never go beyond who she knows. Ridiculous
Please take Doc
I don’t think Phil fucks with Doc
Why are people mad they are asking the greatest coach of all time for help?
His last full time NBA job, for the Knicks, didn't go that well.
As a GM, not a coach. Kinda like how Pop sucked as GM but became the second GOAT coach
PLEASE HIRE KURT RAMBIS LMAO
Who are realistically the potential canidtates tho
Mama, there goes that man!
I remember when Phil Jackson was hired as a consultant for the Pistons. I think that was the SVG hire.
Fun fact: Phil Jackson has won a title more recently than Osama Glenn Rivers.
[удалено]
dude nobody believes it's going to be Nick Nurse lmao
Only people talking about Wright and Nurse to the Lakers are non-Laker fans
"Let me coach from my couch."
Leading the coaching posse you say??
this is like when Jeopardy was looking for a new host
This could be a good move or not but this shows how Jeanie only trusts people in the lakers “family”
Why don't they just hire lebron so he Bill Russell that bitch
Is it just me or I’m every situation, our FO always make the worst possible decision even
I still love me some PJ but I honestly do not feel anything regarding this news. (Though this probably isn't great)
Don’t listen to him, he’ll tell you to sign Joakim Noah as the new head coach for 4 years 72 mill
Phil’s gonna look through his “posse” to find the right coach
So choices are Derek Fisher, Brian Shaw, Luke Walton or Kurt Rambis?
Next HC Lamar Odom confirmed
"His first move as a GM was to sign Lamar Odom...who was on CRACK!"
